This official feed from the Google Workspace team provides essential information about new features and improvements for Google Workspace customers.

What’s changing

We’re excited to introduce Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro Image), our new state-of-the-art image generation and editing model. Starting today, Nano Banana Pro is rolling out to Google Workspace customers in Google Slides, Vids, the Gemini app, and NotebookLM.

Google Slides:

“Help me visualize” in Slides now uses Nano Banana Pro to help anyone create stunning infographics, images, and slides. We also added an all-new experience, “Beautify this slide”, to help people create thoughtfully designed visuals—based on the content of an existing slide—that can be used as individual slides. Here’s what’s coming:

  • Infographic: Generate detailed, professional infographics directly in Slides, all with just a simple prompt. Nano Banana Pro is connected to Google Search’s vast knowledge base, meaning it does an incredible job at representing real-world objects and places, all while taking into account the details you describe in your prompt.
  • Images: The same experience you know, now using Nano Banana Pro. Create stunning, realistic images that help add value to any slide deck.
  • Beautify this slide: In just a click, “Beautify this slide” turns your ideas into a compelling visual with more accurate, legible text while modeling the look and feel of the overall deck. Like what you see? Simply select “insert as new slide” and the visual will be added directly into your deck as an individual slide.

Beautify your slides with Nano Banana Pro in Slides

NotebookLM:

With Nano Banana Pro in NotebookLM, you can now visualize key insights from your sources as high-quality infographics. This allows you to distill complex information and relationships into a single, high-impact visual that makes your data easier to digest. You can also create complete and polished slide decks directly from your sources and share them as a PDF. See it in action.

Google Vids:

In Google Vids, Nano Banana Pro allows you to generate and edit images with greater precision. With new multi-turn prompting, you can refine your visuals iteratively, helping you create custom, production-ready assets to include in your videos.

Gemini app:

Generate high-quality, sophisticated visuals that help bring your creative ideas to life in the Gemini app. Simply select “Create images” and “Thinking” from the model drop down menu to access Nano Banana Pro.

Note: Workspace customers will get promotional access to higher usage limits of Nano Banana Pro in these apps for at least 60 days, allowing users to experiment with these features. Per-user usage limits will apply afterward; we’ll provide more information in a future update prior to any changes. At this time, image generation and editing is only available to users over the age of 18.

Developers and business teams can also access Nano Banana Pro on Vertex AI, and soon in Gemini Enterprise. Learn more.

What’s happening

Use the new ingredients-to-video capability powered by Veo 3.1 in Google Vids to create eight-second video clips.

Simply choose up to three images, write an instructive prompt, and Veo in Vids will generate the clip.

This new capability generates clips with consistent subjects, characters, and objects to help you tell a strong, cohesive story. Whether you’re creating a clip to use in a brand promotion, training video, or employee onboarding video, you can now use your preferred images to accurately bring your story to life.

Update (Oct 10, 2025): This article has been updated due to a change in the rollout timing for Scheduled Release domains. Previously, we expected rollout to Scheduled release to start on October 7, 2025. Now, we expect rollout to start on October 14, 2025.

What’s changing

Earlier this year, we announced the first iteration of the ability to turn existing Google Slides content into engaging videos using Google Vids. Now, we’re expanding that functionality to include Gemini-generated scripts, AI voiceovers, and background music. This makes it easier and faster to transform your existing content into a shareable, engaging video.

Just like before, open vids.new > choose “Convert Slides” > select the Slides presentation you'd like to use, and choose the specific slides you want to import. To use the new Gemini features, ensure the “Include AI voiceover, script, and background music” toggle is enabled.

Vids will then create scenes from each slide and insert scripts, voiceovers and background music. You can make additional edits, such as adding animations to your objects or generating AI video clips with Veo 3.

Getting started

  • Admins: There is no admin control for this feature.
  • End users:
    • When creating a new Vid, access this feature by selecting the Convert Slides option.
    • For existing Vids, you can access this feature by going to the File menu > Convert slides.
    • Visit the Help Center to learn more about using Google Slides with Google Vids.

What’s changing

Earlier this year, we announced expanded access to Google Vids, bringing basic access to Google Vids to all Google Workspace for Education users. Now, we’re excited to announce the following AI features are available to users with an Education Plus or Teaching & Learning add-on license for a limited time*:

  • Read-along mode in teleprompter
  • AI voice overs
  • Text to image
  • Replace or expand image background with AI-powered image editing
  • Help me create (plan your video story)
  • Transcript trim

With access to these features, educators and students can generate custom images and video clips directly from a simple text description, add professional touches like background removal for images & AI-generated title cards, and choose from a library of preset voiceovers to give any project a polished narration.

Additionally, access to the Veo 3 model in Vids (to generate a video based on a prompt or image), AI avatars and Slides to Vids with Gemini (includes scripts, AI voice overs & background music) is planned to be available to Education Plus and Teaching and Learning users by the end of this year.

What’s changing

Following our recent announcement of balance sound in Google Vids, we’re excited to introduce an additional editing feature that effortlessly refines your videos and audio.

We know it's common for people to record themselves and later discover distracting pauses, and “uhms” and “uhs.” Or, after recording, you could decide you want to cut out an entire sentence to shorten a clip.

Instead of having to record the entire clip over, Gemini in Vids can now generate a transcript of your recording, and then identify and trim filler words and awkward pauses out of the transcript with one click to help you sound your best and eliminate tedious editing tasks.

Who’s impacted

End users

Why you’d use it

With transcript-based trimming, users can remove filler words, pauses, and unnecessary sections with a single click, producing a polished final video in no time.

Additional details

This feature is only available in English.

Getting started

  • Admins: Vids will be ON by default and can be disabled at the organizational level. Visit the Help Center to learn more about turning Vids on or off for users
  • End users:
    • To get started, go to vids.google.com in your web browser to create a new vid.
    • Add a video or audio clip that contains speech in English. Or, record yourself using Insert > Recording, or the Record button in the righthand rail
    • Click on the video clip or audio track, and click the transcript editing icon and a side panel will open on the right.
      • If the transcript is not ready, you will see a “Generating transcript…” message.
    • Once ready, the transcript will be shown in the side panel.
      • Filler words will be underlined and shown in red, like “uh.”
      • Silences are denoted in parentheses with ellipses and their duration, like “(...3s).”
    • Click on a word or silence and select “Remove.”

What’s changing

Users now have a quicker way to start editing right from Drive, using Google Vids. With this launch, when a user is previewing their video in Drive, there will be an "Open" button in the upper right that will open the video in Vids. Vids will automatically open the video file, and from there you can further edit as you see fit. For example, you can then trim the clip, add music, add text, and much more.

End users

Additional details

  • This feature works for these file types. Individual clips have limits of 35 minutes and 4 GB.
  • Once Vids opens the video file, a new Vids file is created. Users will need to go through the regular steps to save/export to a non-Vids editable file.

Getting started

Admins:
  • Vids will be ON by default and can be disabled at the organizational level. However, if Google Docs are turned OFF in your domain, Vids access will be unavailable.

Update: We have updated the rollout pace for Scheduled Release domains to an extended rollout, expected to complete by September 30, 2025. It was previosuly listed as a full rollout, with completion expected in 5 days.

What’s changing

Building upon generative image capabilities across Google Workspace, we’re excited to introduce two AI image editing features in Google Slides and Google Vids

To expand on the ability to edit your images, we’re adding the options to modify the background of your image beyond removing the background. Simply select your image, and click on the ‘Generate an image’ icon in the side panel, select ‘Edit’ and select "Replace background." and type in a prompt, such as ‘Minimalist product shot in studio’ and select ‘Create’. This new feature can be useful in numerous scenarios, for example:
  • Contextualize products: Take a standard product photo (e.g., a chair on a plain background) and instantly place it in a variety of realistic settings like a modern living room, a cozy café, or an outdoor patio to help customers visualize it.
  • Company headshots/team photos: Easily remove distracting backgrounds from employee photos and replace them with a professional, unified backdrop for internal and external presentations (e.g., "Meet the Team" slides, company profiles).
  • Tailored client presentations: Quickly adapt presentation visuals to resonate with specific clients by changing backgrounds to reflect their industry, location, or company culture. For example, show a software solution being used in a specific office environment or industry setting.
  • Visually engaging training materials: Create more appealing training slides by replacing generic backgrounds with relevant imagery that helps illustrate concepts (e.g., a customer service representative in a dynamic call center environment).

Replacing the background of an image in Vids

Gemini can also now help intelligently expand the background of your images, so you can seamlessly resize and reframe visuals without distortion or compromising quality. For example, if you have a smaller image of an object in your Slides presentation and you’d like to make it bigger to increase its impact, simply open the expand feature using “Generate an image” in the side panel of Slides or the sidebar. From there, you select your desired aspect ratio and can browse different image options to preview before inserting one into your presentation.

Veo 3 is now available in the Gemini app for select Workspace users
At Google I/O 2025 we introduced Veo 3, our new latest video generation model that can generate video with audio. Today, Veo 3 is now available in the Gemini app for select Workspace customers.

With Veo 3 you'll notice real-world physics and accurate lip syncing - this includes things like traffic noises in the background of a city street scene, birds singing in a park, and even dialogue between characters. We also introduced a new photo to video feature that allows you to upload a photo and create an 8-second video. You can get creative by animating everyday objects, bringing your drawings and paintings to life or adding movement to nature scenes.

There is a limit of 3 daily uses for enterprise and education users and 5 daily uses for those with the Google AI Ultra for Business add-on. When you are approaching this limit, you’ll see a warning message in the UI. Teams can also generate video clips with Veo in Google Vids as well. | Rolling out now to Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains. | Available when using the Gemini app with Google Workspace Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus and the Gemini Business and Education add-ons. | Visit our Help Center to learn more about generating videos with Gemini and which countries & territories. At the moment, Veo 3 is only available on the web and the Gemini mobile app and for users 18+.

Adding Google Calendar sharing to Android devices
In Google Calendar, you can share any calendar you own or have permission to share with other users and groups. This functionality is currently available on web only, and this week we’re excited to extend it to Android devices. The same settings available on web will now be available on your mobile device, which includes the ability to share a calendar with individuals, a domain or the entire public. | Rolling out now to Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains. | Available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual Subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts. | Visit the Help Center to learn more about sharing your calendar with someone

Google Drive is now integrated with the Workspace Events API, which allows third-party developers to create subscriptions on Drive items and receive notifications via Cloud Pub/Sub when those resources change. | Learn more about the Google Drive Events API.

Improved email notifications following Google Meet calls, plus new sharing controls for meeting hosts
We’re improving the email notification that includes the notes doc when you use “Take notes for me” in Google Meet. The email will now include a summary of the meeting as well as “suggested next steps” in addition to the link to the notes document. Including this information gives meeting invitees a quick, helpful overview of the meeting in one place. | Learn more about email notifications for Meet calls.

Manage email subscriptions from a single location in Gmail
Last year, we introduced web and mobile updates that enable you to unsubscribe from individual emails in Gmail more easily. Today, we’re building upon this with Gmail's new "Manage subscriptions" feature. | Learn more managing subscriptions.

Search for embedded content in Google Sites
Starting today, we're making it easier to find information within a Google Site. Previously, searching in a site only showed results from the text directly on the pages. Now, when you perform a search, the results will also include content from within embedded files, such as Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and PDFs. | Learn more about searching for embedded content in Sites.

Drive IRM Update: More Control for File Owners and Shared Drive Managers
Now, individual file owners and shared drive managers can apply printing, copying, and downloading restrictions to users with edit permissions as well. Editors and owners can still edit the document itself, however they can only copy and paste document content within the document itself. | Learn more about Drive IRM.

Introducing Lucidchart and Lucidspark apps in Google Chat
Lucidchart, an app that helps users collaborate on diagrams, such as flowcharts, wireframes, entity relationship diagrams, and more, and Lucidspark, a virtual whiteboard tool, are two third-party add-ons already available across Workspace apps, such as Docs and Meet. This week, we’re excited to announce support for both of these apps in Google Chat. | Learn more about Lucidchart and Lucidspark apps in Google Chat.
