Frida was an incredible Mexican folk artist, and we adore how deeply she loved art, color, and flowers—so much inspiration that it simply can’t fit into just one day! This week, we’ll take a creative deep dive into her world as campers paint expressive portraits, sculpt bold flowers, build beautiful collages, and fill vases with their own artistic flair. Don’t miss this truly one-of-a-kind week of art, bursting with color, creativity, and Frida-inspired magic!

As summer draws to a close, we're giving campers the freedom to choose their creative adventures for the final days of camp. Each day, we'll offer a selection of activities ranging from canvas painting and ceramics to slime making and collage crafting. Campers can decide how they want to spend their day, exploring different mediums and expressing their unique artistic styles. It's a wonderful opportunity for them to dive into what they love most and end their summer with a burst of creativity and personal expression. We’re starting a wild rumpus this week for Maurice Sendack, a beloved children's book illustrator best known for his work “Where the Wild Things Are”. One of the most celebrated authors in children's book history, Sendak is credited for pioneering a more realistic portrayal of childhood and the scope of children's emotions. Students will focus on line and form with this illustrative ink drawing inspired by Sendack’s detailed and expressive style. Encouraging storytelling through images, they will have the opportunity to add their own embellishments as they depict this playful monster.

This week we are experimenting with application as we mimic the influential American artist Helen Frankenthaler. Inventor of the soak stain technique, Frankenthaler pushed the boundaries of color field painting in abstract expressionism. So to celebrate this marvelous approach, we too will be pouring paint instead of using brushes! Students will have the opportunity to explore color mixing as we learn about the color wheel and its various approaches. Then, we will give each concoction a chance to shine as it gets cascaded over the canvas in a spectacular free fall.

There’s no place like… The Giggling Pig! Join us for a dazzling painting of Dorthy’s famous ruby slippers. Students will practice form as they recreate this iconic accessory, discussing concepts of color and contrast to implement a triadic color scheme. With a click of the heels and a sprinkle of glitter, students will follow this yellow brick road to a masterpiece of their own making.

We're embracing our creative magic this week with a clay relief unicorn sculpture. Students will practice proportion and form to utilize their molding skills. Focusing on the score and slip technique, they will embellish their projects with unique 3 dimensional details and complete their masterpiece with a rainbow of color.

A joyful introduction to art designed just for our youngest creators. In this 4-week session, children will explore color, texture, canvas, paper, and multi-media materials in a nurturing, hands-on environment. The focus is on creativity, confidence, and discovery — not perfection. Through playful exploration, students develop fine motor skills, social interaction, and early artistic confidence while beginning to see themselves as artists. Spots are limited to keep class sizes small and supportive.

​​Furry friends make the best friends! This week we will be working in pencil, acrylics, ink, watercolor and clay! Join us as we make our way through the zoo and learn how to draw painting and sculpt some of our favorite animals.

Advanced art projects will NOT be completed in one week. These are longer projects and take up to 4 classes to complete. We work with a variety of mediums and take our art to different levels with shading and details.
