·7 days agoWhy are news here (not the US) reporting on the rescue of the fucking SS officer pilot of the Burger Reich? I don't fucking care, would I ever get this kind of reporting for a pilot of any other country in the world? No, they would just post "Iranian fighter jet was downed" and move on with it. And this was even reported by one of the "progressive" news sites.

technology•Do people seriously use AI to write code? This fucking thing can't even troubleshoot a problem with a game correctly without telling me to delete system 32.
·7 days agoWho writes the unit tests though? If the AI is eventually writing those too because the devs have gotten too reliant on the AI, then it defeats the whole point. And in the case that the devs are mainly writing unit tests as a spec for the AI, it's a pretty miserable experience compared to how development was before.

·7 days agoI do use it as a better way to search for things that have too much context to fit into search engine keywords, but using it for any real engineering is always extremely underwhelming and infuriating.
I am convinced that the hyped AI bros either weren't doing very hard engineering to begin with, or they are lying out of their ass with how useful this bullshit is.
What I hate most about it though is the effect it has on your own brain when you get too used to it, it really makes you worse at thinking in general and being creative. I really fear the long term societal effect it will have on people as it becomes more widely used to replace all thinking that people are too lazy to do.
