Police manhunt underway after triple shooting in Sydney

A police manhunt is underway tonight after three people were shot while sitting in their cars in Sydney's south west in what is believed to be a targeted attack. Two men were critically injured while a 19-year-old woman is in a stable condition.

00:17 It could have resulted in a death at this stage and it still may.

00:22 Gunshots were heard on Mavick Street in Greenacre at just after 2am.

00:31 Of course it worries, I mean like who wants a shooting or this gang related stuff around their corner you know.

00:39 Police found a burning car in nearby Regents Park.

00:44 It's not yet known whether the events are connected or whether either is related to organised crime.

00:50 The investigation is in its infancy, however we do believe it was a targeted attack.

00:55 It has all the hallmarks of an organised crime hit, however there is no links to organised crime by any of the people involved.

01:04 Police are searching for at least one man in connection with the shooting.

01:08 They say multiple shots were fired into the first car, with a single shot hitting two people in the second vehicle.

01:15 They don't know why the two cars were attacked and they're ramping up resources to find out.

01:20 Obviously this is a violent attack and would be of major concern to families in Western Sydney.

01:27 I'd just say that we're assured this morning that there's a full police response in relation to that incident.
