Rescue dog was so anxious around anyone but Mom... until a tiny piglet started curling up in his bed ❤️

00:02 When I have to go outside, he completely panics.

00:06 He starts screaming.

00:10 I can't take a shower without him right outside.

00:16 I'll be back, Neil, don't worry.

00:17 He really just does not like being separated from me.

00:20 He was abandoned and that really did a lot of damage for him.

00:28 Neil is also very uncomfortable around other animals.

00:31 Something he does is he eats grass obsessively.

00:34 He won't make eye contact.

00:37 It completely tears my heart apart

00:40 because we really have not been able

00:42 to find anything that helps.

00:44 Things began to drastically change once we rescued Augie.

00:50 When we rescued Augie, she was so sick

00:52 and needed to be nursed back to health in our house.

00:57 And one day, we just started noticing

01:00 that Neil was moving closer and closer to Augie.

01:04 You hanging out with Augie?

01:08 As time went on, he would spend more and more time with her

01:11 until finally we realized that we could trust him.

01:14 I started to notice that when I would run an errand

01:17 and I would check the cameras, Neil would be on the couch

01:20 and Augie would be in Neil's dog bed.

01:22 Now I can leave knowing that he isn't alone

01:26 and he's no longer feeling those feelings

01:28 because he has Augie by his side at all times.

01:31 When we were introducing Augie to new fruits

01:38 when she was a baby, Neil was always by her side.

01:41 When it's snack time for Augie, it's snack time for Neil.

01:46 They really are two peas in a pod.

01:50 We bought them an enrichment puzzle

01:56 and so every night we load it up with carrots

01:58 and they wait patiently by the counter

02:00 and then they do their puzzle together.

02:02 Oh my God!

02:05 We got them matching stuffed animals

02:08 because Augie is always playing with Neil's toys.

02:11 Come on, Augie.

02:14 Come on, Neil.

02:15 Watching their friendship blossom

02:17 has been absolutely remarkable.

02:19 She really was the missing puzzle piece there

02:26 that helped Neil through his anxiety.

02:28 He has stopped chewing grass

02:34 whenever we're outside and around other animals

02:36 and additionally, we have been able to adopt two kittens.

02:40 He really has learned to accept other animals

02:46 and feel more comfortable around them

02:47 because of Augie's friendship.

02:49 Having her around and the way that he loves her

02:54 eases all of the anxiety and all of the trauma in him

02:59 from being abandoned.

03:00 It's more than we could ever ask for.
