The Liverpool Beatles Museum has unveiled a brand new acquisition relating to George Harrison. The Mathew Street venue features never before seen authentic items across three floors. Visitors can explore hundreds of personal items from the Fab Four.

00:00 Liverpool Beatles Museums unveiled its latest acquisition. Already home to one of the largest

00:07 fab four collections in the world, its newest edition is one of its most unusual.

00:13 What we unveiled today is the back door to Upton Green. And Upton Green, Beatles fans

00:21 will obviously know the relevance of Upton Green. For other people Upton Green was George

00:25 Harrison's childhood home. They moved into the house in 1950 when George was six and

00:32 the Harrisons didn't move out of the house until late 1962. So going through that back

00:38 door of the house would have been George obviously, John Lennon, Paul McCartney.

00:43 Located in a Grade II listed building in the heart of Matthew Street, the museum offers

00:47 a new perspective on the greatest rock and roll band of all time.

00:51 The new owner of the house, a guy Ken Lambert bought the house I think two, three years

00:57 ago. And when he bought the house, the sellers basically said, "Oh, in case you're interested,

01:06 the original back door to this house is in an outbuilding. It's a bit, you know, worse

01:11 for wear, but it's there. It's been there for 70 years." So he pulled the back door

01:17 out because he was interested, renovated it, but he didn't want to put the back door back

01:22 on the house. So he came to us.

01:25 Visitors can also explore hundreds of other personal items, including never before seen

01:30 letters, exclusive interviews with band members and previously unseen footage of the band.

01:37 So for Beatle fans, they can open the door to George's house as John, Paul and George

01:43 did. And when you open the door, there's a beautiful collage basically of George's life

01:49 at the house. So you're getting to look into George's past. So yeah, we're really happy

01:56 There's rare items here, which are obviously very, very valuable. So we go from these rare

02:02 items down the board to items where a Beatle fan coming in can go, "Oh my God, I bought

02:10 that in 1973," or "I got one of them from 1968."

02:21 in Liverpool, has said that hosting the song contest has meant the city isn't just recognised

02:27 for its association with the Beatles.
