Police investigate drive-by shooting at Melbourne home

Police are investigating the death of a man in an apparent drive-by shooting in Greenvale in Melbourne's north. The man was found dead outside his home early this morning.

00:00 Our enquiries would suggest that at about 4.30am this morning, the male was leaving

00:07 his home address with the view to go to work. As he exited his premises, he was approached

00:13 by unknown persons where he was shot. As a result of being shot, he sustained fatal injuries

00:20 and died on scene. Paramedics were notified and attended, but unfortunately the male could

00:28 not be revived. He hasn't been formally identified at this point in time, so it's hard to say

00:34 whether or not there's any gang links associated to it, but that would obviously form part

00:37 of our investigation. There's nothing to suggest retaliation at this point in time, however

00:44 you've also got to understand that if there is links to organised crime, there's always

00:50 a potential of retaliation.
