Nicholas Galitzine Reveals Favorite 'The Idea Of You' Scene w_ Anne Hathaway

00:00So, I love the film. It just gave me all the feelings and excitement.

00:04It's one of our taglines in the movie, you know, all the feels.

00:07Gave me all the feels. So, talk to me about transforming into a pop star.

00:11Did you have a vocal background? Were you a dancer? How'd it go down?

00:15I mean, I was definitely not a dancer.

00:17I had sung before, but like not really in a professional capacity

00:23and I'd never had any formal training for it.

00:24So, you know, the prospect of performing in this capacity,

00:27I think was very daunting. I had such a fun time preparing it.

00:31It's honestly such a joy to be able to get on a stage and pretend to be a pop star.

00:37Did your Abercrombie & Fitch days prepare you for this role?

00:41I should never have spoken about that. I should never have spoken about it.

00:45I wouldn't say so. I don't know how much that prepared me for anything, really.

00:49So, your chemistry read with Anne was an interesting one.

00:54Tell me how that went down. It was an interesting challenge.

00:58How did you approach that?

01:00Honestly, it was one of those things where I really just wanted to kind of let go and be present

01:07because I knew there was like a huge amount to do.

01:10You know, there was the acting, the singing, the dancing.

01:13And I think I was very lucky that the room was so conducive to succeed.

01:19Between Michael, between Annie, you know, Kathy Shulman, Bernie, our casting director,

01:24they all really, I felt, wanted me to succeed. And so I just had a really fantastic time.

01:30Did you pick a song and then you guys started dancing? That's what happened.

01:33What song did you pick?

01:34So I picked Always Alright by Alabama Shakes.

01:37And then I think we ended up actually doing it again to Dance Hall Days by Wang Chung,

01:42which is in the movie. Yeah. Fantastic. Yeah.

01:45A lot of fans of the book imagined Harry Styles when they read the book.

01:49So did you draw any inspo from Harry?

01:52I think the script was so wonderful.

01:55And really, there wasn't any need for any other sort of outside references.

02:00It seemed to all be kind of there in the script.

02:02And then, you know, working with Michael, I mean, he's such an actor's director

02:07and he really delegates all the sort of power to you to be able to kind of, you know, texturize them.

02:11And so it really just kind of came very organically to me.

02:14Finally, is there a favorite scene of yours that you just loved shooting with Anne?

02:18I'd say the room service scene was a lot of fun.

02:24Because that was all improvised and, you know, it was like 3 a.m. in the morning or something.

02:28So we just had a good time dancing around with each other.
