Leader of South Tyneside Council reacts to 2024 general election exit poll

Cllr Tracey Dixon has reacted to the 2024 general election exit poll.

00:00Q. So obviously a very very successful exit poll for Labour, how are you feeling about that?

00:07Oh I'm absolutely delighted. I mean when that exit poll came out, it came out you know with

00:11massive numbers, so a historic night for the country. I mean you know we've worked really

00:16hard over the last six weeks for the Labour Party, so Keir in number 10 tomorrow, how exciting for us.

00:22And we'll have a government that actually works for the working class and a government that works

00:26for the whole of the country, not just for part of it.

00:28Q. And obviously here in South Tyneside you know Labour obviously you know ever popular

00:33as we know, obviously hoping for good things for Emma and Keir tonight as well too I guess?

00:37Absolutely, I mean Emma and Keir have worked so hard, they've been on the doorstep,

00:40they've been talking to businesses, they've been talking to communities,

00:43you know they are two very hard working Labour MPs and I'm almost certain that they will

00:48retain their seats and they'll continue to work in this new Labour government.
