00:00A Malaysian university has made its debut in the top 250 of the Times Higher Education

00:07World University Rankings for the first time.

00:10In the 2025 edition, University Technology Petronas moved into the 201-250 band up from

00:17last year's 301-350 band, becoming Malaysia's highest ranked institution out of 2,092 universities

00:24worldwide.

00:25The second highest is University Malaya, staying in the 251-300 band, while Sunway University

00:31made the biggest leap, rising from the 601-800 band to 401-500.

00:37Four other universities, University Kebangsaan Malaysia, University Science Malaysia, University

00:43Technology Malaysia, and University Utara Malaysia, also ranked in the top 500.

00:48In a statement, THE said Malaysia's good scores in the Research Excellence and Research

00:53Influence Metrics contributed significantly to its performance and it is particularly

00:58successful in the international metrics.

01:01Of Malaysia's 23 universities, 4 improved, 3 declined, and 15 maintained their positions.
