Leeds: Your pet reflections

Pets can be a joy but also a responsibility. If you have one, what do they bring to your life? If not, what stops you from getting one?

00:00After losing my mother and my father and my brother, I actually had a pet, a cat, and that did so much for my healing.

00:10It really did. It kept me alive, and I'm not going to lie.

00:15So I think for general people, yeah, a pet is a very good thing.

00:19I'd like to get a cat, but my mum's allergic so I can't get one. It's very sad.

00:24We have got a little Jack Russell. She's 17 years old. She's still going strong.

00:29So we can bring her name. She's called Sheikra. She's named after a roller coaster in America.

00:34I'd love to have a Labrador because they're kind and loving.

00:42My daughter, she's now in her forties, but going back a long time, she lived with me for a while.

00:46She lived with me for a couple of years, and we got two cats.

00:50I really miss her when she took them away, when she left home, as it happens.

00:54I don't think I'd want any more pets, but if I did, it wouldn't be a cat. I prefer cats more than anything.
