The two leaders campaigns took them to opposite sides of the country where they traded bars over power prices and where Peter Dutton would live if he becomes prime minister. Cost of living concerns are dominating the campaign, and both sides are bracing for tomorrows interest rate decision.

00:00The perils of an election, where certain events can serve as a metaphor for a campaign that's
00:13a little slow off the mark.
00:17And a slip of the tongue can be painted by opponents as Freudian.
00:23If you ask me, do you rule out governing in coalition with the Greens, the answer to that
00:29is no.
00:30What he meant to say was yes.
00:32We will not govern in coalition with anyone, including the Greens.
00:36But the bigger danger, perhaps, is making promises that are hard to keep.
00:41Take power bills.
00:42The Prime Minister has walked away today from his commitment to the $275 reduction.
00:47That commitment was contained in modelling, drawn up by Reputex for Labor before the last
00:52election.
00:53This is the most extensive, independent modelling ever carried out for any policy by any opposition.
01:01But fast forward to today.
01:03Reputex modelling was Reputex modelling that they put out.
01:06Peter Dutton's avoiding the same trap, but at the same time offering voters little more
01:11than a promise that more gas will get power prices down.
01:16His modelling still to come.
01:18In terms of our offering at the next election to the Australian people, a definite plan
01:23about how we can reduce prices.
01:25Not just keep downward pressure.
01:27Campaigning in Newcastle, where the coalition's hoping to wrench a swag of seaside seats off
01:33Labor.
01:34I feel I'm on a roll now.
01:35The alternative Prime Minister's giving thought to what life in the top job might look like,
01:39revealing he'd relocate to Sydney, not Canberra, if he wins.
01:44We would live in Kirribilli.
01:46We love Sydney and love the harbour.
01:47Fair bit of hubris behind that comment, I think, measuring up the curtains.
01:52In the state that delivered Anthony Albanese-majority government, the Prime Minister came armed
01:58with money for Midland Hospital, near the brand new seat of Bullwinkle.
02:02I committed in 2022 to come here ten times a year.
02:07I've met that KPI.
02:09Away from the tightly controlled events, Labor's preparing for a chaotic 48 hours.
02:15With the Reserve Bank's interest rate decision and Donald Trump's next round of sweeping
02:19tariffs set to crash right into the middle of the campaign.
02:24The government's bracing for the possibility that neither will deliver good news.
02:28Put that Trump wing on.
02:29Some dangers are easier to spot than others.
