The people of Trinidad and Tobago have spoken in a stunning political victory that now sees the United Nation Congress led by Kamla Persad-Bissessar forming the new government.
TV6 spoke to a few citizens to get their thoughts on the results from Monday night's election.
00:00I feel so happy and awesome to see this lady come back alive.
00:07To be honest, speaking, it's a sense of relief from all those hassling and bussing, but there was more of an excitement in this trade, the change that we have gotten.
00:18We didn't expect it to be so much, but at least, thank God, we hopefully know that things could change and the country could be put back in a way for progress.
00:27Okay, and your thoughts and your views for Roger Alexander to be represented?
00:33Oh, well, I look forward because the crime situation is way, way out at hand. I think he can do a good job.
00:40Honestly, I'd like to see what the change brings us. I hope that the government can do everything they put forth for the nation.
00:51And I hope they take the responsibility as well as the challenge and they do it in a manner that is best for everyone.
01:03I'm happy it happened today. What happened last night, I feel good.
01:08Why are you feeling good?
01:10Because the place gets light and the place is doing good.
01:14Well, I find the election was like a ghost election. I find it was very quiet.
01:19I like to go to my bed home last night. I took out a two-page book now.
01:24I write down UNC, PNM.
01:27I say when I hear the numbers, I write down. That's game of kicks now.
01:32All now?
01:34Only here I am rolling after I never say I am.
01:36UNC win.
01:37I am very happy for the change in government.
01:40And I wish that the UNC make a big difference in this country.
01:45Because for too long, we have a lot of people suffering.
