Litchfield Grazing has shaped its operation to supply Angus-Wagyu cross cattle to Rangers Valley feedlot, with an emphasis on intramuscular fat and carcase traits - even DNA testing all their heifers to ensure they're meeting the brief.

00:00Now we're in a supply group, Two Rangers Valley.
00:02We are tied up with Peter Hancock, a number of other like-minded producers,
00:06and that gives us a good footing for space in the feedlot
00:09and gives us somewhere to go with our in-product.
00:12We buy a lot of our new heifers, ewing heifers in.
00:15We then join them to the wagyu bulls.
00:18Then when they carve out, we turn the weaners out,
00:22grass feed them on the fescues and rye grasses,
00:26basically until they're at 420 to 450 kilos.
00:30We then sell them to Rangers Valley.
00:32F1s is just a market we've been following, mainly through Rangers Valley.
00:37We just wanted to do something a bit different, and we found it very rewarding.
