A dry and bright start for many on Monday, though with further showers on the way particularly across northern parts of the country. It is turning increasingly cloudy across parts of Northern Ireland and western Scotland where we see an area of rain arriving from the west pushing its way eastwards. Dry, cloudy with some sunshine further south. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the morning of 09/06/2025. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Ellie Glaisyer.
00:00Good morning, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04So it's a dry and bright start out there for many of us this morning.
00:08Welcome change from all the showers we saw over the weekend, but there will still be further showers on the way
00:12as we head through much of this morning, particularly across the northern half of the country.
00:16Although it's going to turn increasingly cloudy across parts of Northern Ireland, western parts of Scotland,
00:20we see this area of rain arriving out from the west, pushing its way eastwards as we go through Monday afternoon
00:26and turning quite persistent across parts of Northern Ireland and western Scotland through Monday afternoon.
00:31Further south though, staying a little bit drier, one or two patches of sunshine around, but there will still be quite a bit of cloud.
00:37But if you do catch the sunshine, it will be feeling fairly pleasant with highs a little above what we saw over the weekend
00:41in the south around 20, 21, perhaps even 22 degrees.
00:45However, further north, particularly if you're stuck underneath that cloud and rain,
00:49temperatures here only reaching around 14 or 15 degrees, so a little below average for the time of year.
00:54That cloud and rain across the northern half of the country continues to sink its way south and eastwards
01:00as we go through Monday evening and into the start of Tuesday.
01:03Quite a bit of cloud around for much of England and Wales as well, even ahead of that weather front.
01:07One or two clear spells holding on across the very far south, but then turning a little drier behind across parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland.
01:14Still some showers feeding in across the very far northwest, but a few clear spells around, particularly across parts of Scotland.
01:20And while we do see those clear spells, it could be turning a little chilly in places, some rural spots dropping down into the low single figures.
01:26But further south, particularly stuck underneath that cloud and rain, it will be staying quite mild overnight, temperatures around 12 or 13 degrees.
01:34So that does mean quite a cloudy but mild start to the day on Tuesday, a bit cloudier than we've seen out there this morning.
01:41The rain that we see across central areas breaks up, kind of fizzles out a little bit,
01:44but plenty of clouds still sinking southwards across England and Wales as we head through Tuesday afternoon.
01:50Further north though, a very different picture, plenty of sunshine on offer as we go through the afternoon.
01:55And with lighter winds, it will be feeling much warmer than we felt over the weekend and over recent days.
01:59With highs in the north of 18, 19, perhaps even 20 degrees, and in the south still reaching around 21, 22, maybe even 23 degrees.
02:07So feeling warm if you do catch that sunshine.
