00:00Hello, good morning. After what's been quite a cold night for some of us, we do have further wet and windy weather on the way through the day on Sunday.
00:08And that's all we can see of this area of low pressure out on the Atlantic moving towards the UK.
00:12These weather fronts will bring a spell of fairly heavy rain to many of us later today.
00:16And we do see the wind strengthening as well. So a yellow warning for wind coming into place through this evening and lasting through much of Monday as well, especially across England and Wales.
00:25But back to this morning, and there's plenty of early morning sunshine, particularly in more central and eastern parts of the UK.
00:31So do make the most of that. Just one or two showers, perhaps in some coastal spots.
00:36Out towards the west, though, it's quickly turning cloudier for Northern Ireland, Wales and the southwest.
00:40And we have this band of rain moving in from the Atlantic.
00:43The yellows and reds on the map showing some really intense bursts to that rain at times.
00:48So some heavy rain, especially across the higher ground.
00:50And that rain will spread its way further east by the time we get to this afternoon.
00:54Holding on to some hazy sunshine, though, for a time in eastern areas.
00:58And by this afternoon, still many northeastern parts of Scotland, largely dry and bright.
01:03But it will turn quite windy, especially in the west as we go through the course of this afternoon.
01:08So in Irish Sea coastal regions, we'll certainly see the chance of gales, gusts of 40 to 50 miles per hour at least.
01:14And even inland across Wales and southwestern parts of England, gusts of around 40 miles per hour by this afternoon.
01:20That's going to make it feel fairly unpleasant.
01:23So despite temperatures being quite close to average for the time of year, it will feel on the cool side.
01:28With temperatures ranging from around 14 or 15 degrees Celsius in northern Scotland to 19 or 20 in the south of England.
01:36Some brighter skies following to Northern Ireland with a mixture of sunny spells and heavy showers by the end of the day.
01:41And that band of rain continues to make its way further northwards across Scotland.
01:45Clearer skies with showers following across many other central and southern parts of the UK too.
01:49But those winds continuing to strengthen as we go through Sunday evening and overnight.
01:54A yellow warning for wind coming into effect for many parts of England and Wales.
01:58So you could well see gales quite widely around the coast and potentially even inland in some spots as well.
02:04It will be a showery night.
02:06Some southeastern parts of the UK, though, turning quite a bit drier.
02:09The best of any clear skies here.
02:10But a whole rash of showers moving into Northern Ireland, western parts of England and Wales and parts of Scotland by the morning.
02:18It does mean, though, with those strong winds that this coming night is going to be a lot, lot milder than it was last night.
02:23So temperatures holding up in double figures pretty much across the whole of the UK.
02:27And in the south of the UK, we could even see temperatures not falling much below the low teen Celsius as we begin the day on Monday.
02:33So a very windy start to the new working week, especially across England and Wales.
02:39But there will be some strong winds across the very far north of Scotland as well.
02:42So the Northern Isles seeing some pretty strong easterly winds and fairly persistent rain here.
02:48The most frequent showers on Monday will be generally across Northern Ireland, Northern England and the south of Scotland.
02:54Heavy outbreaks of rain at times with the odd rumble of thunder and perhaps some hail mixed in there too.
02:58So further south across Wales and central and southern parts of England, well, here the showers will move through pretty quickly because the winds will be strong.
03:07So nonetheless, there will be some heavy downpours, but they won't last too long.
03:11And there will be some reasonably lengthy sunny spells in between those showers.
03:15But it's here where we like to see the strongest winds.
03:17So gusts in the afternoon, 40 to 50 miles per hour inland and potentially 60 to 70 miles per hour on some exposed coasts in the west, particularly the Irish Sea around northwestern parts of England.
03:29It's going to feel cool in those winds wherever you are.
03:32So despite temperatures, once again, close to the seasonal average, highs ranging from 14 or 15 degrees Celsius in Northern Scotland to 19 or 20 in the south.
03:40As I say, it's going to feel fairly cool.
03:42The outlook for Tuesday is for something a little bit dry and brighter, at least for a time.
03:48There will be some sunshine, mainly in the east.
03:50But I think there will be another weather system pushing in from the west later in the day to bring some further rain.
