00:00Hello there and a very good morning to you on this Thursday morning. We're talking showers
00:04today and heavy thundery showers across southern counties. In fact the Met Office has issued
00:09a warning for those thunderstorms through this morning and into this afternoon. A weather
00:14front across Scotland continues to bring clouds and also some outbreaks of rain. This weather
00:19front here skirts more southern counties through the day bringing with it the risk of those
00:23thunderstorms really ramping up the risk of some heavy torrential downpours, hail as well as thunder
00:31and lightning. Through this morning if you are stepping out some heavier pulses of rain across
00:35Aberdeenshire. Rain just clearing Shetland and some outbreaks of rain and drizzle across the
00:40northwest highlands. Dry skies across southern counties of Scotland and northern England where
00:45you'll see some sunshine. A few light showers running in across Northern Ireland but improving
00:48picture here and then we can pick up on that cloud and the rain of course central and southern parts
00:53of England and Wales. Fairly sporadic through this morning so some drier skies around as well.
00:57Let's just pick up on the detail of those thunderstorms then as they develop through this morning
01:04anywhere across the M4 corridor to be honest and you can see there's some heavy downpours likely
01:10frequent lightning and hail extending through the morning into the afternoon and evening time. This
01:16warning expires at 9pm so expect some quite heavy weather and some tricky driving conditions
01:23particularly if you're travelling through today and into this evening rush hour.
01:27Now across more eastern parts of Scotland where you've seen that heavy rain this morning quite a
01:32keen breeze it will tend to ease still a little bit of patchy rain across the highlands. Showers will
01:37develop across northern England northern parts of Wales heavy showers turning thundery through more
01:43southern areas through this afternoon but notice towards the west so as we head through the afternoon
01:48the air will turn a lot more stable across more western areas allowing for a mix of cloud and sunshine
01:55some fine conditions and that will also be the case for west Wales and later on across the west
02:00country although along the south coast we continue to see those thundery downpours clustering together
02:06together giving some high rainfall totals through the day. So through this evening the thunderstorms will
02:13rumble on the other aspects of the weather through today will be how humid it is across England and
02:18Wales temperatures 23 to 25 degrees celsius a bit fresher in the breeze across the north and the west of
02:23Scotland the north coast of Northern Ireland here temperatures 19 or 20 degrees celsius now through this
02:30evening and overnight those showers continue across eastern counties some light ones running in
02:34on a keen breeze across the north as well as the west of Scotland but some clearer skies across much of the
02:39midlands central southern England eventually the Wales as well as the west country and into friday
02:45morning a bit of a breeze to start the day across this east coast again with the risk of those
02:50showers continuing through the morning the cloud will build through the middle part of the day and
02:55these showers could turn heavy anywhere from the east midlands down towards east angela as well as the
02:59southeast and still one or two light ones further north but it'll be a drier day all around elsewhere
03:05again with the cloud breaking allowing for some sunshine and temperatures typically the high teens
03:09across the north the low 20s further south and southeast so that's the picture on friday as we head into
03:17the weekend it really is a tale of two halves this ridge of high pressure brings with it the prospect
03:23of some fine conditions on saturday a great day for being out and about and enjoying some sunshine
03:29however this weather front here will move in on sunday bringing clouds and also some outbreaks of rain
03:34and it will track eastwards through the day so your outlook through saturday your temperatures through
03:40the afternoon rising nicely into the 20s with some sunny spells coming through and then that band of rain
03:48which could be heavy in places will extend from western parts of scotland to northern ireland down towards
03:53northern england wales eventually reaching the southeast but much later on and then come monday things turn
04:00even more unsettled with some heavy rain and also some strong winds wherever you are take care and i'll see
04:07you again soon
