00:00This is an unbelievable opportunity.
00:04Lord Sugar's in the market for a brand new business partner.
00:09This process is not about a job, it's about me ploughing £250,000 into a business.
00:15Trust me, there are people in this room that are hungry for this deal.
00:21Here to do battle for his backing, 16 ambitious entrepreneurs.
00:26You told me you can do things you lot, you can't. You're all a bloody waste of space.
00:33At stake, a quarter million pound investment.
00:37And a 50-50 partnership with a business icon.
00:42I believe actions speak louder than words.
00:46You shut up, and you shut up, and you talk.
00:50It's a deal worth fighting for.
00:53Is this the best I can see?
00:54March!
00:55Oh my God, do you guys know what you're doing?
00:57There you go. Mount the steps. Ascend.
01:0016 potential business partners.
01:03Make a decision. Make a decision.
01:05I've been royally stitched up.
01:0712 tough weeks.
01:09For God bloody sake.
01:10Big smiles!
01:12One life-changing opportunity.
01:14You're fired. You're fired.
01:15I don't want to see your face anymore.
01:18You're fired.
01:19Happy Vincius.
01:20You're fired.
01:29Previously on The Apprentice.
01:30Your task this week, is to come up with an innovative, flat pack of furniture.
01:35furniture the boys brought a folding chair to the table representing the folder that is awesome
01:41while the girls tidy sidey let them down it does look very unattractive stop trying to pass the
01:48buck all the time right isn't it lasting a box somewhere else leaving the boys sitting pretty
01:54i've never seen anything quite like it thank you very much in the boardroom this is one of the best
02:00products that i've seen all the years that i've been in this board a third win for the boys a third
02:08loss for the girls tidy sidey wishy-washy poxy boxy you are the designer you've got all this creative
02:16license natalie and usma came under fire this was a disaster i've got my eyes on you but there was no
02:23hiding place for sophie in the past three weeks i haven't seen anything from you you should have
02:28done much better than this you're fired and she became the third casualty of the boardroom now 13
02:36remain to fight for the chance to become lord sugar's business partner 5 20 a.m
02:58hello good morning this is lord sugar's office lord sugar would like you to meet him at surrey
03:06docks in east london the cars will be with you in half an hour thank you bye what did she say
03:13surrey docks in east london bye bye come on chop chop i don't know what's worse getting woken off or
03:22getting woken up by louisa i think we're gonna be selling meat or fish i think we're gonna get the
03:29tears put up today the girls need help basically if we work with boys i don't think i'd like to work with
03:34see because i think that he's just like a bit full of bullsh** i could be the savior
03:49now i've been like in the bottom three it's just given me so much more drive i've been in there twice
03:55and it does really make you see the whole picture and realize that you know what this is just you need
04:00to stand up for yourself a stone's throw from the city a bit of rural life
04:21good morning good morning lord sugar well here we are in the surrey docks farm now over the past
04:29ten years farmers have brought their shops into the cities and this is not just happening in england
04:36it's happening in new york it's happening in tokyo it's happening throughout the world it's a great
04:41new trend your task this week is to open a farm shop now i've laid on a couple of shops for you
04:49in perfect locations i'd like you to source stock for your shops and sell it to the public the team
04:55that makes the most amount of profit will win and in the losing team one of you will be fired
05:02now it's time for me to mix the teams up a bit usma natalie i told you last week that i'm going
05:09to keep my eye on you so i'd like you to move over to team endeavor miles jason and jordan
05:16move over to team evolve now here's the good news we're gonna have a lady in the winning team because
05:25i've got to tell you ladies i've been disappointed and here is the time for you to show what you can
05:32do because you haven't shown me much up until now good luck i'll see you back in the boardroom
05:38in a couple of days time country farm shops have hit the high street
05:48an appetite for organic produce locally sourced and sold means profits are ripe for the picking
05:57today teams must scour the southeast for stock tomorrow sell it from farm shops
06:03ladies welcome to the team welcome to the team let's make this 4-0 yeah let's make it 4-0 let's get
06:12it done but for the newly mixed teams today's first job choose a leader i'd really like to be pm
06:21first to volunteer louisa i think i'm really suited to this task i've got a shop in a local town i source
06:27local produce you know i deal with local farm shops before we make any decisions anyone else
06:32want to throw the hat in i'd like to be project manager i have an interest in farm produce um i
06:39think i can do really well have you produced and sold stuff yourself no okay but i don't think it's
06:45rocket science i think you're going to definitely know more about something like this all right i think
06:52it seems that everyone's happy with lou being project manager yeah congratulations
06:55i think this task is really suited to my skill set i've opened a shop although it's a cake shop
07:02we make everything on site i'm really hoping that i'll be the first project manager to lead team
07:08evolve to a win we need to decide what products we're going to stock our shop with i reckon something
07:13like buffalo meat i think you can get a lot more excitement around a meat that someone's not tried
07:17before especially if it feels if it feels unusual at my school there was a van that came around with
07:22ostrich burgers every week and there was a queue a mile long i'm just worried that buffalo is not
07:27going to have a real universal appeal it's unusual and i think that people will go for that
07:33with meat agreed a takeout idea from jordan the way i would play this is that we should have buffalo
07:39that we sell but we also get a load of fruit and veg and make soups we want to have something that's
07:43higher value and something that's lower value i think soup is a really good idea we can also sell
07:47jacket potatoes we're going to have our buffalo meat and then we're going to get vegetables potatoes
07:52and fruit in charge of the other team regional sales manager neil i'm thinking about margin so
07:59i'm thinking about what we can actually get the most profit from i've got no idea about the farming
08:04industry whatsoever the reason why i've put myself forward is quite simply as i'm a born leader and i can
08:09drive people to get good results we need to have a specialist thing i think we go for milk the profit
08:16margins better on it this has got the unique selling point is you know fresh milk we've got
08:19milk is like a guaranteed selling yeah okay i disagree because i think people will have milk
08:24at home they're not popping out to buy milk yeah one idea i had was something simple like cheese on toast
08:29it's warm it's simple you know vegetarians can eat it meat eaters can eat it you know it's a
08:34generally loved product can i just respond to that my business at home is buying fruit turning it into a
08:39shaking and selling it myself for like three pounds and the produce for it must be about 40 pence
08:44we're making an amazing markup on the milkshake right it's done kurt's heading that up don't
08:49want any arguing i'll have the final say on it can i just say something people i don't want to talk
08:53about it anymore it's done that that's what that's what we're doing simple fingers listen the simple
08:58thing is we win the task we all stay none of us gets fired yeah 10am
09:05both teams hit the road
09:11today they must hunt the home counties for farm fresh produce i think something like apples and
09:18satsumas they're in season at the moment
09:23where are we
09:26as long as you get the blueberries we're still in action with the milkshake yeah whatever they are
09:31can we think about what we are telling in terms of quantity 80 burgers 200 sips how many jacket
09:37potatoes should we go 150 be like optimistic because potatoes are really cheap 14 pound for a 25 kilo sack
09:45how many potatoes are in a kilo
09:49now are we going to go with any costumes because i don't mind dressing up as a scarecrow
09:53lunchtime for louisa and half her team a buffalo farm
10:06there's a really nice smell around here
10:07it's got manure is that what it is
10:10no that's actually silage
10:13we get closer snapping pictures to promote their produce tomorrow
10:17that's it work it girls jordan work it work it i like what you're doing there
10:25at the on-site butchers it's down to business
10:28here check this out look buffalo kofta buffalo burger buffalo mozzarella and basil
10:34we need to think about the best margins yeah in buffalo the sirloin and the fillet looks
10:40amazing and will sell really well how much is that wholesale buffalo fillets cost 28 and can
10:46retail at 45 which is great fantastic market buffalo they're thinking yes it's high cost it's medium margin
10:54right but it's different and that attracts people you attract them in buffalo i've never had buffalo we're
11:02going to have the burgers at 95 pounds the fillet for 24 pounds it's a risk they've got a lot of
11:08money tied up in that meat and beef jerky for 40 pounds we'll have to wait and see on that point
11:14a meaty investment thank you so much at 159 pounds
11:23heading out to a dairy farm half the other team led by neil in terms of the shakes i've got alex on
11:30the numbers at the moment we're going to need about 250 ml of milk for every shake i think we could
11:38aim to sell around 200 at three pound each which would be about 600 pounds where i think that's
11:43very optimistic i don't think 200's that optimistic i don't it's very optimistic it's your business
11:53what do you think about his numbers on that 200 shakes when you break that down again what is that
11:57that's weird one every two every one every three minutes hampshire
12:07looking to bulk buy milk for kurt shakes
12:13celia neil alex and natalie thanks for seeing us today this brings me on i'm from wales i am oh that's
12:23wonderful looking to do some milkshakes you know if we say 100 liters at 40p a liter we'll just get
12:27it all done quick sale job done doing the sums company director alex i'm just working out 17
12:35pounds and we've got to divide that by two which is going to be
12:40so it's so simple i'm just forgetting now which is yeah get a calculator out but i work it it's going
12:44to be 25 pounds sorry that's going to then be 21 pound 25 and that is for 50 liters just in two
12:52but you know what then um we're going to divide by two what total of 44 pound 75 but i shake your
12:59hand if you want to do 40 quid if you bottle it yourselves that's right i'll shake on 40 pounds
13:07okay thank you very much for that hey sweetie next squeeze in a photo opportunity there we go
13:15milking cows come on there we go i got it right i got a cow there we go oh my god i'll do the next
13:22one right i'm not an animal person i've never had a pet oh lovely if i run will they charge
13:30that one is beautiful look at this horse um why don't you get a close dog no okay pause you come
13:38right here i come come here you bottled up and ready to go 100 liters of premium jersey milk
13:49on the other team out to bulk buy veg from an essex grower okay so here we have all the stuff from
13:55the farm miles francesca and jason the best way to to fill up the shop is to fill it up with bulky
14:02things which cost us very little and which we can mark up at a very big price and that is vegetables
14:08how many cabbages have you got got about 80 or 90 around okay that's a lot of cabbage yeah yeah sure
14:13normally to wholesale we sort of offer sort of 10 to 15 so could we do it for 60. do it for 65.
14:20what else have we got a bunch of beetroot one pound 25 each at the moment retail and what about
14:25trade them for us i'll do it pound a bunch and the corn of the cobs 20p and how many of those do
14:29you have a couple of hundred in there i thought yeah we've got some volume here then yeah
14:37hi guys hello they do grow some of their own produce and things we can get a better deal on
14:42are cabbages sweet corn onions just small amounts here because i think that what we need to remember
14:49the bulk of our money is going to be from our burgers our soup and our jacket potatoes and what
14:55we just want to sort of stock the shop with subsidiary products you know just to make it look like
15:01really rural really rustic so hang on so you're just you you want us to try and buy things that look
15:09nice in the store rather than products that we're going to sell yeah so just don't like going crazy
15:14on corn on the cob but maybe buy six that we can use to dress up the store make it look more farmy
15:19make it look more local we're not going to dress the whole store with six cobs are we just sort of use
15:24a bit of logic like i only really want you to spend about 40 pounds here but listen hang on a
15:31second you engage brain yeah we will do now we know now we know we have a do you see why we've lost
15:39us kent
15:46picking up fruit for their milkshakes usma kurt and z i've been taken around the farm like this
15:54hello sorry are you uh are you all right to talk yes we're here we've just bought the apples
16:04and we've taken pictures and we're on our way back to the car just just one second i'm thinking we do
16:09need to have kind of a reasonable amount of stocking we give you a budget for fruit and veggies 100 pounds
16:14so it's it's quite a large order personally i think we should limit what we spend i think the profit
16:20margins are poor and we'd have to invest heavy if you look at what we're buying at the moment for the
16:24milkshakes we can take 600 pound on that what we've got to remember is people are coming to buy food to
16:29this market they will buy it i i don't really agree to be honest are you cool with that just hear me
16:35out a second see you later what he's saying is we're going to make enough off the milkshakes don't
16:39buy a lot of stock if you don't sell it what we're going to do still at the essex farm and shopping on a
16:44shoestring i mean there's no point in buying dressing for the shop i just think we made a decision
16:49a bid for a bigger budget from francesca to get enough produce to actually make the shop look
16:54like it's got something in it we need to spend 150 pounds can we do that what kind of stuff
16:59are you getting yeah because that's a lot of money 25 broccolis 40 cabbages 100 corns
17:08genuinely without this bulk of stuff we are going to look like we have an empty shop well i get the
17:13point about the shop looking bare but i'm just worried about the quantity so we're making the call
17:17we're going to do that we need to spend that money spend the money and we'll work triply hard could
17:21you get us going to 125 just let them do it perfect deal done at 146 pounds if we hadn't pushed and
17:31ended up getting the items we have we'd have an empty shop i mean we would literally have a bare shop
17:35done mid-afternoon sent by neil to stock up on more produce should we get those i wouldn't spend too
17:46much money on it what about the cabbage kurt's half of the team goes shopping i don't think it would
17:51make any money on that definitely get some pears no i don't think so i think a couple of them could
17:55sell quite well i don't kurt wants to go into business with lord sugar selling smoothies and fruit
18:01drinks therefore that's all he's focused on he's using this task to show lord sugar what a great
18:06business it is what great profit margins that comes to 30 pounds please thank you thank you very much
18:12but actually this task is about having a farm shop not just milkshakes i don't think we should buy any
18:17more let's go 4 30 p.m on the other team at an apple juice specialist that's cock yeah
18:33miles francesca and jason that's amazing that gorgeous absolutely amazing you got 40 of those
18:40early to get more because i think this is gorgeous god that's amazing
18:46hi we are at the second farm with the apple juice and we think it's gorgeous amazing gorgeous okay at
18:53the minute we're going to spend 50 52 pounds should we buy another 25 quids worth of this stuff we can't
19:00really spend any more money now i really think that we've got enough produce and we need to rein in the
19:05spending i think that we've got enough it sounds like you guys have bought a lot you don't want to
19:11go to anywhere else after this and buy any more produce no we haven't got the budget for it
19:20just been sold you know take your stuff and go home i just don't get it i'm concerned about
19:28lack of stock i just think it's ridiculous
19:33with the rest of her team sent packing last on louisa's list potatoes at a 10 or a sack are going
19:39to come up at 60 quid so you're talking about 120 plus the leaks 150 okay done thank you i do stand by
19:47my quantity i do think that we've got enough produce especially when we make our soup and our potatoes
19:53we've gone more down the takeaway route we can buy a sack of potatoes and make a huge batch of soup
19:59sell that soup at two pounds 50 we're laughing at a surrey farm oh we've got a good selection
20:07bulk buying blackberries for tomorrow's shakes at the moment we sell them in the farm shop for
20:13225 upon it neil i can do them for 150 but that's the bottom line what i would like to do if that's
20:18right why you're kind of weighing them is just call my other team and just check what other produce
20:23we've got hello in terms of the stock how much have you actually got of each thing just so i can
20:31start thinking about the shop way out because it's a pretty big shop we haven't got a lot of veg we spent
20:36about 33 pounds all in all in terms of your budget we said 100 pounds how much have you actually got
20:45about 10 cabbages about and what have we got not a lot not a great deal
20:55the only thing is i don't want to be left to the point where we we kind of sell out and we're stuck
21:00there thinking yeah we've done a good job but we could have sold double the amount
21:04i know we're going to make a lot on the on the shakes there's a big margin on them
21:08kurt wanted to save money on produce he wanted to spend less because he's putting all his eggs in
21:15one basket of the actual milkshake they've really ballsed up 15 minutes before suppliers must shut
21:23what i don't want to do is pay a retail price the problem i've got now is i haven't got a lot of
21:27stuff to sell wholesale out of options it's a dash around the farm's on-site shop
21:34i want them and i want them get anything with chocolate in what else is popular i want to buy
21:40that all of that 250. nope one two oh this many do you think what are these never mind put them back
21:47we've got carrots i'm really disappointed with your sub team in fact i'm pretty pretty annoyed how come
21:52we've ended up having to get all this when i thought that that was supposed to be our sub team's job
21:57is that the question i can't change it now i've got to get on with it and got to make sure that we
22:02sell the stock we've got tomorrow at the best margin
22:107am today teams must flog their farm-bought produce to the public
22:23here we are d-day it's all about the sales front which i know that we've got a strong skill set in
22:29in this team is mad i've never seen her sell whenever she's had the opportunity to sell
22:34she's always kind of backed away you know what i i enjoy this type of selling you could put me
22:42inside or outside i'll be good anywhere you're gonna see me in action today
22:47east london right ready lu get into it get into it for both teams shops in foodies favorite
22:59broadway market bags of carrots here
23:03at louisa's shop buffer local a pep talk from the project manager so our main usp for today is we've
23:14got really unusual unique buffalo meat our main selling is going to be the takeaway stuff we're
23:20going to aim to do 150 jacket potatoes 200 soups that's 350 items to sell it works out that everyone
23:27has to sell either a jacket or a soup every 10 minutes so set yourself a target hang on a second
23:31you need to be realistic they're lunchtime products or in the soups a bit more during the day i think
23:35we're gonna have different periods of the day us one two three are gonna address the shop yeah jason
23:40and rebecca are gonna get started on peeling potatoes cutting leeks and onions fine okay for the other team
23:47fruity cow it's good though because when people come you can say look you know i was there yesterday
23:51here's the fault of me actually doing it it's a good job we got fruit and veg dogs there ain't all there is
23:56so taking stock project manager neil we could have bought other stuff but it wasn't we've got what
24:03we've got and we need to move on with it i'm really frustrated with the sub team i sent them out with
24:07clear direction they brought half the stock back what i asked them to do kurt works in the smoothie
24:12business milkshakes is very similar to that he's committed to me that he can sell me 200 shakes today
24:17and make 600 pounds that is commitment that's what he's got to deliver and that's what i'm going to
24:21make sure he does you've got a lot of shakes to be selling today is he right all right if i take that
24:27yeah are you okay yeah hold me tight 10 a.m at louisa's buffer local doors open we can do your steaks
24:38we can do your burgers remember it's not a steak it's an award-winning buffalo steak it's worth a lot
24:44more than normal it's 20 pounds for the pack of two which would be 10 pounds it's premium award when
24:50it meets the burgers the wrong customers i agree incredibly expensive we are a bit expensive we don't
24:59just want to drop the prices because one person's come in and said oh it's a bit pricey okay
25:04we've got all british oh my god oh my god at fruity cow usma can we get rid of all these empty boxes
25:15and let's get people in the team still isn't ready we've been open for what about 45 minutes no one's
25:21been in the shop adding some rustic charm cosmetics entrepreneur uzma if you've got too much stock don't
25:28put it all out for example we don't need all this on here the way you do displays is so it looks like
25:32there's so much there but there's actually not it just looks full let's just get moving yeah
25:40it's really important to get it perfect
25:44don't eat without coming to us we've got hot lunch at buffer local soup simmering potatoes prepped
25:53but outside leaking potato soup piping hot fresh all fresh ingredients made here
25:58no early takers for louisa's lunches you sure miles we've got 347 takeouts to sell big push
26:05now on the jerk jacket potatoes you know what to do hot soup jacket potatoes one of the key elements of
26:11this is the high margin takeaway market leaking potato soup sir freshly made those ingredients
26:19they've got such an enormous amount that they've got to shift if they fail to do so
26:22pain in the boardroom i i don't think we give tasters because it's not nice
26:28add seasoning frank
26:31no it's good hot potato and leek soup flavor it yourself when you get home to make it taste nice
26:37another one please two minutes but fruity cow milkshakes milkshakes milkshakes
26:44have you got the straws absolutely flying off the shelves now orders for milkshakes are coming in
27:00thick and fast it's just three pounds fifty and i'll get one done for you straight away yesterday
27:05kurt said i'll win this task i'll make you the 500 pound profit and the pressure's on oh we're doing
27:10well now these are our biggest money maker as well we're making like three pound every shake
27:20lunchtime okay i'll take a peck of that okay buffalo as well yeah buffalo as well it's all buffalo all
27:29together that's 105 pounds okay making a profit from top class buffalo louisa's team thank you very much
27:40have a good one well done babe it's not 100 i know that's just proof i told you people that want
27:46the quality of the meat are willing to pay the price quality costs money like don't be afraid to tell
27:50them that quality costs money but with takeaways still not selling can we juice you some piping hot
27:55soup leaky potato freshly made this morning a master plan from miles can we put it out on the front so
28:01people can physically see it and smell it and try it why don't you get jason and rebecca i don't know
28:05quite what they're doing ask them to make up one jacket potato with tuna one with cheese and beans yeah
28:11make it look nice make it look beautiful yeah make it look pretty i'm going to clear a space down there
28:20down the road how you doing sir can invite you inside with fruity cows cold shakes the hot cellars two
28:26milkshakes please a plan to diversify from kurt we go and buy some really cheap apple juice base yeah and we
28:34can put things like carrot in because you've got the sweetness from the apple juice okay what are
28:37apples in maybe a bit of pear and make a juice what we're getting apple juice yes and doing what
28:43with it selling it no no basically we're adding it to this are key aren't you adding it to the carrot
28:49juice and stuff to make some juice i'm just asking his question yeah just m3 please thank you

31:28trickless pony literally is someone waiting for that soup yes okay don't just stand here talking

32:35turning over the milkshakes we're making the money 50p a pint of milk which is cost price i want to get
32:40rid of it we should just um do you because it's going to take all right i don't want to think about it

33:14got much stock left push the soups don't you worry about too much about the jacket potatoes jacket
33:18potatoes are epic fail made a really good call yesterday on the products if we had to push for
33:24that stock in that farm shop we'd have had nothing in this store today there we go madam strategy for
33:29the last hour is a bag of potatoes for two pounds we've paid 38 people per kilo so we're still making
33:36profit and we're flogging them milk is two for a pound if you want it thank you very much fresh from the
33:43ground organic all-o potatoes two pints bye
33:51a mushroom a mushroom organic potatoes sir blackberries and apples
33:56thanks bye bye time everyone 6 pm
34:05i'm pretty confident that i've led the team to the best of my ability we've driven the sales and i think
34:10we've probably done enough to win yesterday we're really focused on having takeaways and just stocking
34:17the shop up to make it look like it was full with other stuff and had to change strategy a bit so that
34:25might be our downfall tonight the farm shops shut tomorrow the boardroom
34:44you can go through to the boardroom now
34:57you can go through to the boardroom now
35:07good afternoon good afternoon lord sugar well fresh farm food brought to the city
35:29team evolve you were the project manager what happened we quickly identified that we wanted
35:37to go to the buffalo farm buffalo buffalo meats yeah right it was in east london not the wild west so
35:44uh buffalo you decided actually exotic meats are a big trend in the industry lord sugar and we thought
35:49it'd be a really interesting hook you didn't think you had any cowboys in your team then did you
35:53one or two no have you tried buffalo lord sugar no i haven't well then maybe you should right
36:01you wanted something different is that just to be outrageous then we wanted to have something
36:05unusual so that people would walk past create a bit of a buzz and interest again had other produce
36:11for them to buy we went for soup and jacket potatoes is that um the type of thing that people would
36:19expect from a farm shop i thought if you're going to a farm shop you want something a bit special no
36:25i was very keen to go for the soup just thought it was quite a low-cost product to have you thought
36:31you're going to make your money on takeaway yeah initially we thought having soup and jacket potatoes
36:36a low-cost product we'd be able to sell a lot of them and that's where we'd make our money what was
36:41your target on soups and baked potatoes what did you think you were going to make 200 soups and 150 jacket
36:47potatoes and got an idea how many you did doing yet 70 sips and about 15 to 20 jacket potatoes 20
36:54yeah you targeted 150 baked potatoes and you think you sold about 20 yeah that's correct as soon as
37:02we realized we stopped baking the potatoes put them for sale in the shop and i have to be honest our
37:08strategy totally changed i think that we limited ourselves we had a couple of more lunchtime products
37:13if you like so the sales window was a bit more limited was this because louisa clamped down on
37:18on the budget yeah i felt that we could stock a shop without blowing all our money um i get the
37:25distinct feeling you really wanted them to go and pick up a few bits and pieces just to dress your shop
37:31up a bit yeah but don't go and spend too much money while there's yeah i was like don't go mad we made
37:36the decision that we were going to end up coming back with nothing to sell and a shop that looks empty
37:41didn't you get told to go home you had an hour and a half left we felt that you know if you've got
37:45an hour and a half left in the day to go home is it's futile so overall then good project manager
37:52i think there were flaws all the way through we had no real budget and we had no direction at
37:58all in terms of products we were looking for you said use your initiative and i think we did
38:02right okay now then neil you are the project manager of endeavor that's correct well i'm pleased
38:09because i did comment a week or so ago that i was getting feedback that you're a bit of a backseat
38:13driver so tell me what happened we went with milkshakes and we did how did that come about
38:19it came about because of kurt's um experience he obviously runs um a shop that does shakes the
38:25milkshakes that we were going to make would be apple and blackberry because he thought that that
38:29would sell well and blackberry that sounds like a mobile phone was kurt very forceful in wanting to do
38:35this then he was but i i kind of wanted to utilize the experience that we had in the team i think it
38:40would have been silly of me to go with something that was unknown kurt was very very strong on how
38:45many units he thought that we could sell everybody agree with this milky thing yeah absolutely did you
38:50agree i agreed with the strategy obviously he's got his experience but i disagreed with the quantity
38:56you set your target to sell 200 shakes in a day is that right that's correct yeah i had the idea that
39:01if we if we push the milkshakes we could make 500 pound profit and then i thought if you sell them
39:08now tell me about neil's leadership style here i mean i i got the feeling from karen that
39:15initially it was a bit dictatorial is that is that right direct your surname is cluff right no relation
39:22to fluffy are you i'm quite similar but there's no relation now i'm gonna say because he had a special
39:27way of dealing with his teams as you know also yeah so happy with your project manager yeah i'd say
39:34so i am kurt non-committal kurt on the fence i had some problems with neil initially about the budget
39:41he was setting and i don't think he had the clear direction all right let's um look at some of the
39:47the numbers here karen uh let's get some details on your team endeavor shall we okay uh well total sales
39:58on the day 1097 pounds and 82 pence you spent 558 pounds and 15 pence which meant you made a profit
40:08539 pounds and 539 pounds and 67 pence right 539.67 is the profit for endeavor uh nick how about evolve
40:21evolve total sales 1249 pounds and 52 pence a spend of 618 pounds generating a profit of 63152
40:34come on get in come on can i just remind you this is not a football match sorry low sugar i
40:48i know it would be tight i'm pleased to win right i make that 91 pounds difference yeah okay
41:00looks like you uh herded your buffalo team quite well then in the end wasn't so bad after all no i think
41:06you might have them to think because from what i've understood if you'd have just pioneered on the
41:11takeout stuff um you might not have had that win anyway your treat i'm going to send you to a top
41:17restaurant called the tram shed and their top chef is going to cook you a four course meal of the best of
41:26british products so have a good time thank you thank you
41:46well you're lost by 91 pounds you were focused on milkshakes milkshakes and all that
41:54and that's fine if you'd have sold you 200 uh you may have won the day you didn't you sold 113
42:03i'll see you back in here shortly and we'll go into this in a bit more detail okay off you go
42:07thank you thank you i'm cooking dinner for you guys this evening's part of your treat
42:24well jason if you want you can wash up some dishes i was well yeah i'm very good at grating cheese
42:28washing dishes who was taking a grass off the bone anybody get your knife in
42:37i was really pissed off with miles and the sub team in the boardroom because it came across
42:41that i didn't have any control over the team they saved the day
42:46they thought we'd failed hence why they didn't say i was a good project manager but now they're all happy
42:52happy bon appetit guys cheers everyone here's your first evolve win led by me
43:08so what's your thoughts on on where we went wrong did we make the right shout at the start
43:25kurt was very very milkshake focused i think that deluded his mind
43:29we didn't sell what we had at a good enough margin 440 pound on stock we didn't even double it
43:39neil's got to take responsibility for the failure of this task he was responsible for the sales side
43:43and we didn't sell at the margins we needed to i hate losing it's not something that i'm used to
43:51we went for milkshakes because that's what kurt does in his day-to-day business he said he'd get 200
43:56shakes sold he failed at doing that he should be very nervous and very worried
44:17can you send the candidates in please yes sugar you can go through to the boardroom now
44:26we're going to go through to the boardroom now i got the feeling that the milkshakes took over this
44:43task really right you all agreed you were going to make milkshakes yeah yeah you agreed as the project
44:49manager that you were going to make i made that decision you went off to go and buy god knows how many
44:54hundreds of liters of milk this task was lost right at the beginning in the roots all our focus was
44:59milkshakes milk milkshakes milk it'd be silly for me not to go with the expertise that i had of a sub
45:04team leader that sells it for a living i've got that i've got that but the point is this you say i
45:08want a voyage somewhere and halfway through the voyage you think yourself i've made a right cock up here
45:14this is not right there is a mistake but what's done is done you've gone for shakes you've got the
45:20goods you've got the milk you've got all the stuff so halfway through if you've recognized something's
45:25wrong you need to change your plan why didn't that happen you're absolutely right one thing you did do
45:29though kirk you diversified to add juices what were those juices with the main juice we did was carrot
45:35pear and apple where'd you get that apple juice from from cost cutter from a cost cutter store yes indeed
45:42bearing in mind that you are a farm shop trying to project a fresh image homegrown and you come up with
45:49a juice which is made with lovingly picked stuff from the shelf of a supermarket again i'd love to
45:57take responsibility for that as well but i have to put that by kirk he told me what we needed can i
46:03make one point that's still me profit wise putting into this task 350 plus worth of money how come your
46:10team only managed to raise 200 pound between the five well the shakes and the juices came to 373 pounds
46:17worth of business that means sales you told me 650 273 pounds exactly exactly how much did you tell
46:25me how much did you tell me from i sold i don't know how many are sold okay just answer my question 200
46:31how much did you say it would make 500 pound profit 650 pounds 500 profit i still sold double the takeout
46:37products that the other team sold at a higher margin and i wasn't at the front of the house selling them
46:43i could have produced another 70 shakes but at the front you weren't selling efficiently enough
46:47i said you'd sell shakes of three pound 200 shakes what was us doing on this task because last week
46:53i said i wanted to keep my eye on these two ladies usma i think she's the weakest person in my team
46:58oh really i'll tell you the reason why usma is i think we could have done the same job if not even
47:02better without you here's the other point which is seems to be coming through here you ask them to go and
47:08buy some other stuff yeah non shaky stuff right yes other things for you to sell it when i give him
47:15the budget and my decision was to spend as much of the budget because i was confident we was going to
47:19sell it and make good margins kurt was against the idea but the problem we then had lord sugar is by the
47:24end of the day if it wasn't for my team we'd have hardly any stock at all to sell that's not true i'm
47:30sorry but i give you a bigger budget can i just say something is that all right if you would he put you in
47:33a compromised position then yeah because i think i'm buying from a shop at the end of the day so
47:38you ended up buying retail is that what you're saying i ended up buying fruit and veg from a
47:42shop to sell in a shop because i didn't have any more stock but did you send your sub team out and
47:46you say look look uh spend 100 quid did you give any direction on what you should spend the hundred quid
47:55guys guys guys let me just say this now okay right we give you a budget of how much to spend here how
48:01much to spend there those figures were not followed you didn't even sell you didn't even sell
48:06listen to me we absolutely wrong it's absolutely wrong we lost this task because we sold near enough
48:12half the shakes that we said kurt said we was going to sell that's not true and then the flip
48:15side of that is i bought my produce from a shop to sell in a shop i know how many i know how many
48:22where's the responsibility lie then neil with kurt i'm going to take some responsibility as project
48:27manager i can't shy away from that you know i'm the leader i had the final say but i went with
48:32somebody who's an expert in that field so the military cluster he told me if you would have sold more
48:38now i need to know who you're bringing back into this boardroom i don't think i've got to be too much
48:43of a rocket scientist to work out yeah one particular person so can you tell me who you're bringing back
48:50in this boardroom uh kurt and osmer right i don't i don't understand why you're bringing me back i'll
48:56tell you a reason why you're smart not now okay i'll ask you to explain when you come back in here
49:00fine you others go back to the house okay thank you thank you
49:12right i'm gonna have a further chat with karen um so step outside and i'll call you back in in a few
49:18moments time thank you neil was he a good manager did he assert his authority or did he get brow
49:33beaten here by kurt i mean in the case of usma i couldn't have made it much clearer last week i'm
49:40gonna give you another chance and yet again the comment we could have done the task without her this
49:46is her third time back in the bottom three why don't they see the contribution that she makes
49:50i don't know
49:55yes lord sugar can you send the three of them in please
49:59lord sugar will see you now
50:00usma wanted to ask you why she's back here yeah perhaps surely explain absolutely um i brought us
50:20my back uh for one reason is i believe she was the weakest person in my team um it's no surprise to me
50:26uh that she's been in the bottom two uh a couple of times out the three tasks already usma was uh
50:31asking me questions throughout the day of things that just completely irrelevant and i think that
50:36she unfortunately is the weakest link in my team i'm sorry if it's direct but that's that's exactly
50:40why i welcome it it's fine third time i believe in this final three he's brought you back in here
50:46because he don't think you contributed what is it about you that alienates other people in this process
50:52because he's the second person if not the third that has said you don't seem to do anything there's
50:56a saying no smoke without fire why do you think these people have this opinion of you in the process
51:01i just think it's an easy way out lord sugar and i'm being really honest with you listen can i finish
51:07this is the problem with working with you boys no one lets you talk i personally think you said that
51:12you hadn't your eye on me and i think he's brought me in but i had my eye on you from last week i didn't
51:17have my eye on you from the pre from i just think it's an easy way it's an easy route i don't think
51:23i did my answer that question because exactly exactly what i thought he was going to say and
51:27that's why i tried to explain myself if i wanted the easy option and if i wanted a safety blanket
51:31i probably would have brought you and natalie back in because you're both in the bottom uh free last
51:36time around natalie worked really really hard i think usma is out of a depth and i brought her in
51:41based on the performance of the task and she was a weakest link and i don't think you brought me in here
51:45because i've been here twice before i did yes you did yes you did she's done very well to get here
51:49but i don't think she's got any chance of winning the process neil some of the things that you say
51:55in your cv is that you're not afraid to trample over people right absolutely but only if i've got a
52:00point to prove and i know exactly where this task went wrong and i also know i've been the strongest
52:04candidate in the first three tasks where was that written is that your opinion yeah it's my opinion
52:09it is my opinion and that's what i'm giving so it's a fine line you know between confidence
52:15and being a bit cocky no i do get that yeah and do you not feel that you're a bit cocky
52:20in in thinking that um what you say goes and nothing else no i don't know anybody else is wrong
52:25although that i'm quite outspoken i think if you speak to the other people around me in the other
52:29tasks i've proven that all being outspoken i've delivered results anyway kurt
52:36you convinced this project manager according to him that you should do milkshakes in this particular
52:45task yeah you then made the fatal error of putting a number a stake in the ground 200 was your figures
52:52right you put a noose around your neck don't you think i put my neck on the line yeah should i be
52:58sympathetic towards that you putting a noose around your neck because he's jumped on that and so has
53:03everybody else but you're supposed to know what you're talking about do you know what i'm talking
53:07about i put myself forward and said i'll be able to sell these shakes it was the best takeaway product
53:12out of the whole of this task by a large margin and now i'm being criticized because i said i'd sell 200.
53:18he was so convinced for it that i had to go with it he convinced me that he would sell them 200
53:22milkshakes he told me he'd get around 650 pounds are you what a person that could be talked into something
53:28then or what absolutely not but that's his expertise that's his field you know kurt why shouldn't you
53:33be fired today i'm fed up and sick and tired of talking about milkshakes now i agree you tell me
53:39why you should stay in this process i contributed 50 of the total profits for this task i shouldn't
53:45have put a stake in the ground and said okay i'll make 200 but i put my neck out i wasn't standing in
53:49the background who do you think should be fired i think neil made some mistakes but osmo was the weakest
53:56link in the team the whole of the two days who should be fired i think it should be neil and neil
54:01the failure of the task in terms of the weakest candidate usma no that don't tell me about weakest
54:06candidate because you're digging a hole for yourself failure for the task is quiet your job as the
54:10project manager here is to talk about who is responsible for the failure of the task in which
54:15you were the project manager okay i don't want you sitting over here doing my job yeah do you
54:19understand okay i believe kurt should be fired for the failure of the task but i put my neck on the
54:24line to try and assist to try and make it better and make more money for takeaway posts i take it
54:29on board so why am i the failure of the task because you said you would get 650 pounds you got
54:34gentlemen you know what i i don't want to hear anymore
54:43kurt if you thought this shakes route was going to actually be your chance to prove to me that your
54:49business model is solid then you failed because how can i go into business with somebody who doesn't
54:55know how many can sell i don't know i'm asking for any comments you know
55:04usma third time in this final three and a couple of times people have said you don't contribute
55:11okay i have had comments back from nick and karen who have had the benefit of following you and i have
55:18to say that they support some of that in some respects neil you took the helm here you decided that
55:31you wanted to be a project manager but you got browbeaten
55:35and i do think that putting the blame solely on him is unfair and for that reason neil i've got to
55:47tell you that there's not much space left for mistake but my intuitive feeling at this moment is that kurt
56:05if you want me to believe in your business model you have got a lot to learn and the first thing
56:13you've got to learn is stop spouting your mouth off of how many are going to sell how many are going to
56:18make uzma no smoke without fire i say i'm sorry uzma you're fired thank you for the opportunity
56:35go back to the house the pair of you thank you thank you i'm sure you'll get
56:46the last thing old sugar said to me was there's no smoke without fire
57:14he hasn't yet seen the fire in me and i'm gonna take my business idea i'm gonna make it happen
57:20and i'm gonna make millions from it
57:24kurt took a risk and he didn't pay so if you're getting stuff wrong in your own field yeah
57:31it was actually a mistake from neil to make him the sub team leader
57:35does that mean that neil is really just a backseat driver can he drive the car surprise
57:46yeah that's it that's it
57:53tell us all about it i think the right decision got made
57:55no have you been knocked down a few pecks now absolutely not
57:59i had a weak link in the team and they're no longer here
58:04now 12 candidates remain lord sugar's search for his next business partner continues
58:14next time your task is finding certain items that are required for the opening of the hotel
58:21you can put the map away because i know dubai like the back of my hand a day trip to dubai
58:25i'm in a very very rush he's absolutely full of it go go turns up the heat i want the pot
58:32that means i've wasted all day not bought anything i'm really worried and someone sent packing on this
58:38particular task like it or not you were weak you're fired
58:46they'll tackle that task on tuesday night at nine over on bbc two now dara chats about the
58:51farmyard fun with usma for you're fired then tomorrow afternoon she'll join greg james from 4pm
58:57on bbc radio one over on bbc four now a double bill of cult comedy parks and recreation
59:08so
