Cloud and outbreaks of rain pushing eastwards across Northern Ireland, Scotland and northern England, becoming patchier by morning but more persistent over hills. Dry with clear spells elsewhere, and a few mist and fog patches. Staying warm. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the evening of 10/08/2025. Bringing you todayβs weather forecast is Gregory Dewhurst.
00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest forecast from the Met Office and temperatures are rising over the coming days and well above average for the time of year.
00:11We're looking at highs around 31 Celsius come Monday, 33 on Tuesday and into Wednesday.
00:18So the likely peak of the heat coming towards the beginning of the week.
00:24But temperatures, even though falling as we head through the rest of the week ahead, still above average, 29, 30 Celsius possible.
00:32And that's all thanks to high pressure, just sat the southeast of the UK, drawing in some warm and humid air from the near continent.
00:39Though there are weather fronts nearby across the north and the west, courtesy of low pressure.
00:43So there could be the risk of some rain at times, particularly over the next 24 hours.
00:48And then an increasing risk of thunderstorms at times, too, as the humidity continues to build.
00:54So as we go through this evening time, we have outbreaks of rain pushing eastwards across Northern Ireland, parts of Scotland, Northern England.
01:00One or two heavier bursts are possible, particularly over the higher ground.
01:03But it does become a little patchier in nature as we head into the early hours, most persistent there over the hills in the northwest.
01:10Elsewhere, generally dry with lengthy clear skies.
01:13And with light winds, we could just see one or two mist and fog patches forming once again.
01:18And temperatures a little higher than the night just gone, largely in double figures, towns and cities holding up towards the mid-teens.
01:26So starting to turn a little more uncomfortable for sleeping.
01:30And that's going to be the theme as we go through the coming days.
01:33So mist and fog quickly clearing plenty of hazy sunshine across England and Wales.
01:38Outbreaks of patchy rain across Northern England, Northern Ireland pushing northwards.
01:41The rain becoming increasingly confined to northwest Scotland as we move through into the afternoon.
01:47And then through the afternoon, there's an increasing risk of some medium-level cloud pushing up from the southwest.
01:52One or two thunderstorms or heavy showers starting to develop from this.
01:57Something to keep an eye on through the forecast period.
02:00Otherwise, plenty of dry weather to come.
02:02An afternoon shower, perhaps possible across Northern Ireland and Northern England, too.
02:07But many places dry and in that sunshine, it will be a warm, very warm feeling day for most, if not hot, across central, southeastern parts of England.
02:16Where we'll see the peak in the temperatures around 30, 31 Celsius.
02:21Temperatures further north into Northern Ireland, central and eastern parts of Scotland reaching the mid-20s.
02:27Just a little fresher across northwest Scotland here.
02:30Temperatures around 17, 18 Celsius under the cloud and the rain.
02:33And that rain continues to push its way northwards as we move through into the evening time.
02:38You can see the risk of one or two heavy showers and thunderstorms across England and Wales pushing northwards as we head into the early hours.
02:44Perhaps the odd rumble across Northern Ireland, too.
02:47But very hit and miss.
02:48Most places staying dry.
02:50You might see some lightning without any rain as well.
02:53And in between, plenty of clear skies.
02:55And that warmth and humidity continuing to push its way northwards.
02:59Temperatures generally not falling much below 15, 16 Celsius.
03:04One or two spots, perhaps even higher than this.
03:07And you can see the rain still lingering there across Orkney and Shetland through the night.
03:11So a wet start here on Tuesday morning.
03:14But it should quickly clear out the way.
03:16And then most places should have another warm, humid, sunny day.
03:20Well, locally hot, sunny day.
03:22One or two thunderstorms possible cropping up almost anywhere.
03:25Largely, most likely across Northern England, eastern parts of Scotland into the afternoon.
03:30But not exclusively.
03:31They could almost be anywhere.
03:33And in that sunshine, very hot.
03:35Temperatures reaching around 33 Celsius across central, southeastern parts.
03:39A little cooler around the coast in parts of Scotland as well.
03:43Temperatures reaching the mid-20s.
03:44So a very warm day to come for all of us.
03:47And as I mentioned, sort of generally the peak in the heat on Tuesday.
03:51But still very warm on Wednesday.
03:52Temperatures in the low, perhaps locally near the mid-30s.
