00:01Previously on Project Runway All-Stars.
00:05Hello, designers.
00:07Hello.
00:08It's a new host, new judges.
00:10Project Runway All-Stars is a new chance.
00:12I think it's exciting.
00:14Are you ready for your first challenge?
00:16Oh, gosh.
00:17We've given you a 99-cent store.
00:19Laura, please let me grow.
00:21April's dress.
00:22It looks just like what you're doing.
00:24I don't know if I'm in the competitive mood yet.
00:27Oh, no. Oh, my God.
00:29My glue gun, like, melted through my whole dress.
00:38This was a very wearable look.
00:40The dress was like, what happened?
00:42You mastered all of these elements.
00:44You made them your bitch.
00:45You can photograph this.
00:47You could put it in an editorial in a magazine.
00:49Rami, you are the winner of this challenge.
00:52If you read the story on this sleeve,
00:54you read it on that sleeve, it's a good story.
00:56You can't stand at the end of the runway
00:58and explain your look for half an hour.
01:00I love clothes that tell me the story
01:02the minute they hit the runway.
01:03I'm sorry to say, Elisa, you're out.
01:0713 of the best designers from Project Runway are back.
01:12And this time, the competition is tougher than ever.
01:16Each week, their skills are tested to the limit
01:19as they compete for the biggest prize in runway history.
01:22Who will be cut and who will have it all sewn up?
01:26This is Project Runway All-Stars.

01:35within an exclusive boutique at select Neiman Marcus stores
01:38and on neimanmarcus.com.

01:53and a cash prize of $100,000 courtesy of L'Oreal Paris.
01:57Hi, designers.
02:14Hi, Angela.
02:16So, you all made it through your first week's challenge.
02:19How do you feel?
02:20Faith.
02:21It's great to have you all here.
02:23This week is all about high-end glamour.
02:27It's time to show us how All-Stars can create show-stopping ballgowns
02:32for high society events.
02:36Our guest judges this week are two iconic designers.
02:40To tell us more about your challenge,
02:42please welcome to the runway Mark Badgley and James Mischka.
02:47I've always seen Badgley and Mischka as sort of a career path
02:54that I could pattern myself after somewhat.
02:57They really have built a really fantastic empire of evening wear.
03:03Mark and James, welcome to Project Runway All-Stars.
03:07Thank you so much.
03:08Delighted to be here.
03:09So, why don't you guys tell us all about this challenge?
03:12The challenge is a night at the opera.
03:15We want you to design a gorgeous evening gown
03:18for a very glamorous evening.
03:20I love the opera.
03:21I grew up with opera music,
03:23listening to Luciano Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli.
03:26We want you to really turn some heads with this look,
03:28classic and elegant at the same time.
03:30This is your chance to really indulge your fantasies
03:32and make a fabulous dress that only goes to the opera.
03:35It doesn't have to go anywhere else.
03:36We're looking for a true couture touch.
03:39I think it should be romantic and feminine and soft.
03:42If you're about the black dress,
03:43it should be the most dazzling black dress we've ever seen.
03:46I really want to impress them.
03:48Come on, those are the big boys.
03:50Evening wear, I can do,
03:52but it's not my papoom moment,
03:54whereas it's Austin's papoom.
03:56I have a lot of respect for Austin,
03:58but he's going to have to bring it,
04:00because I'm not going to slack off,
04:02and may the best man win.
04:04So, designers, you have a budget of $350 to create your gown,
04:09but you have just one day to turn it around.
04:13Ooh!
04:14One simply cannot create a couture dress in one day.
04:16It usually takes weeks, if not months.
04:19Can't make it too easy for you.
04:21Of course not.
04:22All stars.
04:23So, good luck.
04:25Mark, James, and I will see you back here on the runway.
04:28I knew this was coming,
04:32and this is definitely not my strong point.
04:46This is Anthony's HP tablet.
04:51I'm making this amazing red dress.
04:54I think Georgina's going to steal that dress right off the runway.
04:57I know I want to do red.
05:01When I was on season eight,
05:03I used tons and tons of black.
05:05So, I really want to show the judges
05:07that I can do other colors and stuff,
05:10but they still fit my aesthetic.
05:14It looks like something more, like, fitted.
05:17The first season of Runway,
05:19they called me the king of couture.
05:21If I do not do amazingly well on this challenge,
05:24I will be embarrassed and humiliated.
05:29Last week's challenge, when I was in the bottom,
05:31I was petrified.
05:32My heart was pounding out of my chest.
05:33It sucks to be in the bottom.
05:35It makes it seem like I'm some kind of loser.
05:38They never design before I go to mood.
05:41I go to mood, and I bring back the materials,
05:43and I just let them kind of tell me what to do.
05:47Are you guys ready to go to mood?
05:49Yeah.
05:50All right, let's go.
05:51Let's go.
05:59So, it is a mad dash at mood.
06:01You know, you forget just how short a half hour really,
06:04really is.
06:06I'm running through a mood,
06:07and I see this light pink fabric with black polka dots,
06:10and it's so me.
06:11It's so girly and beautiful,
06:14and I immediately went for that.
06:16There wasn't enough of it, so I got scared
06:18because I wanted to do the whole dress in it.
06:20So, I found a matching pink organza.
06:2415 minutes, guys.
06:2515 minutes.
06:27I see the different fabrics that I want
06:30and how they have the same red tone
06:33that I was looking for,
06:34this kind of, like, ox blood red.
06:36It worked out perfectly.
06:37I sketched for, like, 20 minutes
06:40this gorgeous red drapey creation dress
06:43with, like, this red chiffon
06:46and, like, red jersey.
06:48Long behold, April.
06:50She's making a red dress.
06:52He's like,
06:53are you gonna do red?
06:55And I said, yes, I'm gonna do red.
06:57See my red fabric?
06:59Last week, I found mops.
07:03She found mops.
07:04Can you tell me how much that is?
07:06I'm next.
07:07This week, I'm making a red dress.
07:09She's making a red dress.
07:10I have feathers.
07:11She has feathers.
07:13Why, Michael?
07:14What are you doing?
07:15It's driving me insane.
07:17Who the cares?
07:18If you wanna do red, do red.
07:20Like, who cares?
07:22No, I don't want the red no more.
07:23Somebody else is doing red
07:25and I'm just, like, losing it right now, so.
07:27I see this black matte jersey.
07:29That was gorgeous.
07:31I'm gonna take 15 yards.
07:33Thank God.
07:34I just saw a look in my head
07:35right then and there.
07:37We have one day, we have to get back to the work room
07:48and we have to just go.
07:50The game plan is good time management from the start
07:52so that it gets done.
07:54Everyone's, like, lock and key, they throw, like, swallowing their keys.
08:04I think everyone just realizes that the people that surround them are really strong.
08:09So everybody just wants to just tight lip and get the work done.
08:12So you're dyeing April?
08:17Yeah.
08:18I do gowns, but I do them in a different way.
08:21Me doing gowns is gonna be in a corpse bride kind of way.
08:25I would be a little apprehensive to actually dye something
08:29and then make it all in one day.
08:31If April is choosing to sabotage herself, so be it.
08:36April dying that forever could be just enough of a mistake
08:39that could probably send her home.
08:41Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
08:46I know the pressure is beginning to mount.
08:48How am I gonna know this isn't a bride's dress?
08:51I constantly feel like I'm in a pressure cooker.
08:54Shock horror!
09:03Austin?
09:04Yeah?
09:05Can I use the screwdrivers again and a broken handle?
09:07The challenge this week is to create a gown
09:09that is going to the opera.
09:12On this one I feel Austin Scarlett has an edge for sure.
09:16This is what he makes and I think he's good at it.
09:19This is like the last challenge that I would want to somehow fail at.
09:24Why is it in pieces like this?
09:29I don't know. I'm gonna sew it back together.
09:33You should probably hand stitch it.
09:34Yeah.
09:35I have put looks together for clients in one day, but not when it comes to couture.
09:40Couture is very special and it's very delicate and you have to respect couture for what it is.
09:46It's smart that he's starting with the main feature of his gown.
09:50He finished that really quickly.
09:52I've noticed Michael works really quickly.
09:59It's a little space age, right?
10:01Yep.
10:02Hi everybody.
10:06Hello.
10:07Hi.
10:08I know the pressure is beginning to mount and I'm gonna come around, talk to everybody, find out how it's going.
10:13I really appreciate that Joanna Coles is our mentor because part of winning this whole thing is being a guest editor at Marie Claire magazine.
10:23Rami, congratulations on last week.
10:26Tell me a little bit about your design.
10:27I'm playing with triangles around the bodice, bringing all the points towards the waist and then they fan out again.
10:33Who are you watching the most? Who's your biggest competition on this challenge?
10:40I definitely think Austin. He is perfect for this challenge.
10:43Did I hear my name?
10:44I feel like he has that background in costume so I think he would definitely be great in it.
10:48Good luck. I will let you get on with it.
10:50Thank you so much.
10:51Thank you. Appreciate it.
10:52Austin, hello.
10:53Hi, Joanna.
10:54How are you?
10:55Wonderful.
10:56Good.
10:57I'm wondering what you're gonna do to surprise us all because I know that this is absolutely your favorite thing.
11:02You're brilliant at it.
11:04Everybody's watching you.
11:05I'm certainly nervous because of the judges, because people expect something of me.
11:11High expectations.
11:13Austin's niche is the evening gown.
11:16So if you're so used to making something, that shouldn't be a big deal.
11:20You just make it.
11:21That's that.
11:22No pressure.
11:23How are you gonna surprise the judges?
11:26What are you gonna do?
11:27I'm thinking of having this sort of whole lame sort of sheath underdress to really show off a beautiful figure and then creating some dramatic volume sort of with the tool almost like standing out away from the gold sheath.
11:43I like the color scheme.
11:44We have faith in you.
11:45You'll be great.
11:46So, alright.
11:47Thank you so much.
11:48So, tell me, what is the April wow factor for this?
11:52I'm hand-dyeing ombre right now.
11:54You're hand-dyeing it.
11:56Is that a good use of your time?
11:58I guess it could be pretty risky, but I'm pretty comfortable with it because I do it at home a lot.
12:03Okay.
12:04So, it's a technique you feel.
12:05Yeah.
12:06When we're choosing dresses to be on the cover of the magazine, we're always looking for something that has movement and that has sort of real energy.
12:13The main thing is the way the fabric's gonna move.
12:15I'll add big triangle insets.
12:17They're smaller at the top so they're fitted and then as they go out, they'll catch the breeze as she walks on the runway.
12:22So, it'll be like a kind of mermaid's movement.
12:24Yeah.
12:25Yeah, it's definitely ambitious.
12:27I didn't even think about if there was a plan B.
12:30Plan A just had to work out right and it better damn well work out right.
12:38How are you gonna make this one stand out?
12:40I'm planning on adding this thing to it at shoulders.
12:44It goes here.
12:46This is gonna get sewn down.
12:47Very dramatic.
12:48She's going to the opera and it's red carpet so I want her to steal the show.
12:52Are you gonna do cups inside?
12:54I don't think I'm gonna do cups inside.
12:56No one wants a knit slip.
12:57Not at the opera.
12:58It's tacky.
13:00I'm always thinking how is my body gonna look in this and sometimes I worry designers don't worry about it enough.
13:05I'll tell you the truth, sometimes I don't worry about it enough.
13:08Shock horror!
13:11How are you?
13:12I am good.
13:13Tell me how you picked this fabric.
13:15I just went for the taffetas and I wanted to use colour.
13:19I mean beautiful fabric but quite pastel-y.
13:22I just think the colour choice for a night at the opera is a little bit summertime picnic kind of dress.
13:29How are you gonna make this evening wear as opposed to for example bridesmaid wear?
13:37There's nothing worse than getting to an event and knowing that you've made the wrong decision with the things that you have.
13:42Because a dress like this can be confidence or it can be confidence sapping.
13:48Hi Sweet Pea.
13:49Hi.
13:50Talk to me about your design.
13:51I had toyed with the idea of black.
13:52That's really not me.
13:53Right.
13:54So I went for colour again and then feathers I may play with.
13:57I have quite a few or we'll see.
14:00Sweet Pea's dress, it's kind of the same silhouette as the unconventional challenge dress and she was in the bottom for that.
14:06Yeah.
14:13This is my gown.
14:14Great.
14:15I really really love it.
14:16It's gonna be in this cream colour palette with silk organza.
14:20How am I gonna know this isn't a bride's dress?
14:24A bride wouldn't wear something plunging in the front, plunging in the back.
14:29It's a little more forward thinking.
14:31Well I'm looking forward to seeing you doing something really special.
14:34I look forward to you seeing it.
14:36All right, good luck.
14:38Guys, I'm gonna go now and I wish you all the best of luck for the runway.
14:42Bye.
14:43See you soon.
14:44Bye.
14:45Good night.
14:46It's nice to have some type of validation from Joanna because I may have a tough exterior.
14:50People feel like, oh Rami will be fine, he'll pull it together or something.
14:54But I'm only human and it's nice to get a little bit of encouragement every now and again.
14:58How are you doing?
14:59This is taking me so long but it's coming out the way I want it to.
15:04Oh good.
15:05It's just very tedious.
15:07I'm concentrating a lot on the bodice and I really want it to fit really nicely.
15:11I guess I'm just praying it works.
15:13How are you Cara?
15:14I've got the back and the front and the front and the back.
15:17If I was going to say who was the weakest designer in the room, it would have to be Cara.
15:24She spends so much time doubting herself that she doesn't really focus on what she needs
15:30to work on.
15:31I constantly feel under pressure, like I'm in a pressure cooker.
15:36But you've just got to like, game on, you know?
15:40Like I just, I'll get it, like it will come together beautifully.
15:47I had a lot of work to do just to build up to have a foundation.
15:53I have to get past my foundation first.
15:55Oh yeah, that's pretty.
15:56Do you want to serve it with my sandals?
15:58I like that.
15:59It's asymmetrical.
16:00And you know, you got this Grecian thing and I got my little rope sandals on.
16:03You know?
16:04Ta-da!
16:05Excuse me for trying to help.
16:08I think it's couture.
16:13It's one day.
16:14It's a challenge.
16:15And that really does work for you.
16:18Yeah.
16:19Michael's dress, beautiful.
16:21However, a little too celebrity and not enough socialite.
16:25Okay guys, we only have five minutes.
16:27Tomorrow I have to reinforce this whole by hand.
16:39I'm going to use that two hours.
16:40Is it done though?
16:41Ow.
16:42Okay guys, that's it.
16:43Let's go.
16:44Yeah, I like it a lot.
16:45Yeah, she's a cuter.
16:46So tired.
16:47Who's finished?
16:48I don't, I'm not finished.
16:49It's like not enough time for a guest.
16:50It's not.
16:51I am so afraid I'm going to be in the bottom.
16:52Couture in the day.
16:53It's unheard of.
16:54Couture means months of preparation.
16:55Hours of hand plate work.
16:56Penciling.
16:57Yes.
16:58We're insulting the world of couture by even using that word to describe this challenge.
17:03We're just going to say really, really, really pumped up prom dresses.
17:20I'm a little stressed.
17:21It's scary.
17:22It's a second challenge.
17:24And I'm just getting that green.
17:25I think Cara is struggling with this challenge just a little bit.
17:29And I really want her to get it together.
17:32is as important as this concept yeah with this design I don't feel like I'm
17:38like going off the kahunis the design is absolutely there I know that you've
17:42just got to like finish it initially but I'm like you know what let me just get
17:47like my hands dirty with this one
17:52coming up on project runway all-stars the time is just unreal for what the
17:57task of hand is you kind of have to half-ass things a little this is not
18:00the original dress that I designed in my head
18:15this is a really intense time crunch here there's not a lot of talking and we all
18:21feel like the time is just unreal for what the task at hand is you can't really
18:26take the time to do French seams or rolled hymns by hand you kind of have to
18:32half-ass things a little bit
18:36I wasn't at full speed yesterday I hope I'll be able to pull this off
18:40I think the last little details together I think Austin's gown is pretty I just think it's a little
18:56bit I don't know like kind of basic this part is longer yeah I'm kind of excited
19:02because this is so different than anybody's I mean I can go eat away you're doing hair and makeup first
19:08oh perfect I want her to look like very sophisticated because to pull out this dress she can't be a little girl she's gonna be a grown woman today
19:16I want the hair swept away from the face I want it so tight that she's barely able to blink
19:22lash out on lash out powder her up blush pink blush just a little bit of eyeliner like a really sophisticated
19:32but edgy dark smokey eye my dress is black I want my model to channel Angelina Jolie a little bit
19:38okay thank you L'Oreal Paris people
19:46all right guys we got 10 minutes left
19:50this is more stressful because you're up against the most talented my dress it's exactly what I've
19:56envisioned although I've had technical problems with the bodice for sure this is not the original
20:01dress that I designed in my head but it's the dress that worked perfect for this challenge right over
20:07here she looks like mofo money you gotta probably put a really nice clutch with it from this Neiman
20:14Marcus accessory wall that I am just staring down job well done team B
20:19okay guys we gotta go to runway ready to go
20:26hi designers as it's been said on project runway one day you're in and the next you're out this week's
20:41challenge was all about high-end glamour you had a budget of three hundred and fifty dollars in just
20:47one day to create a beautiful gown fit for a night at the Opera let's meet the judges first we have the
20:55designer and co-founder of Marquesa the beautiful Georgina Chapman hi designers next one of the most famous
21:03names in fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi hi hi our guest judges this week our world-famous designers known for
21:14their red carpet destined evening wear mark Badgley and James Meshka be looking for style elegance and
21:25individuality and the detail of your work let's get started have a great show
21:41I thought my dress looked exactly the way I wanted it to it was flowing it had a statement it was fashion
21:49forward and she just looked beautiful
21:55it's exactly what I wanted her to look I love the styling her hair I love her makeup the fabrics the
22:12beading I just love it
22:25I'm nervous I'm just hoping they can appreciate the amount of design and detail that I put into it
22:34and be forgiving of the fact that it was a rush job
22:38I'm hoping they forgot that they mentioned romantic and feminine and that they just see a great sexy
22:54black gown walking down the runway she looks amazing the gown fits perfectly and she's working it
23:08I see my model float down the runway and she looks like a Cinderella it's exactly what I've envisioned
23:19I'm really really happy with the way it turned out I was really inspired by what I know about opera
23:35I've seen Theopatra and I've seen Madame Butterfly it looks very 60s but very me and very modern and almost futuristic
23:46I feel like I'm being so true to me this is so who I am I think my dress is gorgeous and let's just say I'm still reaching around and patting myself on the back for a job well done Jarell
24:03I love my dress
24:07my model's just beautiful dreamy elegant young youthful exactly like I expected her to look
24:23love her
24:28my model clearly looks like a dream she looks rich she looks regal she looks like she's part of the Anthony
24:50the A.L Williams experience
24:54as I watch my model glide down the runway she's just a vision in molten gold swathed in this cloud of black tulle I think she looks every inch the elegant lady of society
25:18I'm nervous because I can see the flaws in it oh and it's so hard to just sit there you just want to go grab her off and say hey we got to get this right but you can't I just had to hang in there
25:40my model is floating across like nobody's business the crystals are glistening the light is catching the feathers
25:55and then when she turned around all you saw was this little strap of crystals and this 80 foot little train is gorgeous
26:07if I call your name please step forward Anthony April sweet pea Austin Cara Michael you have the highest and lowest scores
26:35if I didn't call your name congratulations you're safe your designs will keep you in the competition and you may leave the runway
26:42one of you will be named this week's winner and one of you will be going home
26:50one of you will be named this week's winner and one of you will be going home
26:57coming up on project runway all-stars I can't believe you made this dress in the day she's a little lopsided on the tulle it looks like a dirndl skirt
27:05I mean I did add pockets
27:08one of you will be named this week's winner and one of you will be going home
27:17designers let's bring out your models
27:20so Anthony would you like to tell us about your design I want to do something in cream or white but I knew that that could have a fine line between bridal so I wanted to add some edge with the leather
27:35I love the new context for white that you created it isn't a bridal dress it looks kind of vampy and sexy and I love the plunging V I like the black shoes and the glove I think it brings a toughness to a very elegant feminine dress I'm on the fence a little bit about the gloves and the jewelry just does it take it too far into that vampy world and would it be nice to keep it a little more romantic
28:04however I'm really glad you use the satin face to your jet because it drapes so beautifully
28:09I love that it's body conscious on one side and it's blue sun on the other makes it very modern the fits great I think it's dramatic it's a showstopper
28:18oh thank you
28:21April would you like to tell us about your gown I wanted to go away from my norm which is a dark black gray palette I thought that red would be appropriate for the opera
28:31congratulations that you did a color but I think for the opera maybe it's not the time to think about ombre dyeing or tie dyeing
28:38I do think that's probably a lot of personal style in this but it just looks a teeny bit tortured a teeny bit rushed and I personally can't stand red and black together
28:48oh
28:49and that's why we work together because I don't like red and black either so
28:52April I find the cut of this dress interesting I kind of looked to the red queen Alice in Wonderland because that for my style is an elegant thing something abstract like that
29:05I love the red however when you're gonna mix fabrications one that's reflective and one that's dull
29:12you've got to make sure the reds sit because right now they're living more like a mistake rather than something that's meant to go together
29:19right
29:20it's a sweet pea could you tell us about your outfit I really thought ball gown
29:26I just wanted to picture sort of waltzing like a modern day Cinderella
29:29I get more like sort of prom dress from this than I do ball gown
29:33it's like you started a ball gown but it looks like a dirndl skirt
29:36I wish you had just used the fabric at the bottom to do something at the top
29:40I was contemplating switching it and it was just a plain bodice with seams you know
29:44I wish you had
29:45No I do too
29:46I think that would have served you better
29:48I like the fact that it is colored that stands out in our room and is also very pretty
29:52but the bodice needs to be taught her and executed a little more expertly
29:55that is the focus of a woman when she goes out in the evening whether she says something else she's lying
30:01it's all about that
30:03I liked the color element of this I thought it was very daring but I did see it being more of a daydress
30:10to me this is not the opera it's not the Metropolitan
30:15so Austin tell us about your gown
30:18I tried to have her look sensual but still have a certain modesty or refinement to it
30:26I love this dress I love it
30:28it looks fresh and classic and expensive and you use the word modest
30:33I did use the word modest I think it's bailing it keeps it sophisticated it's alluring I would hope
30:39dresses are not modest anymore which is a shame I love this dress because it's modest
30:44you definitely know how to cut a beautiful dress looks like a dress that I would see hanging up at Bergdorf's
30:50it's just lovely
30:51one little thing about it is that she's a little lopsided on the tool
30:54oh is it where?
30:55the bodice part
30:56under her arm I think
30:57right hand side
30:58there you go right there
30:59okay
31:00that's just the thing on the runway that drives us crazy
31:02but again you had one day to do this so little things like that can slip by
31:05I would like to see the bust line cut maybe a touch lower but other than that I think you did a fabulous job
31:12thank you very very much
31:14Carl tell us about your opera gown
31:17I don't normally gravitate towards prints and although it's not conventional for evening it's said to me you know Lincoln Center summer's night I think there's something to be said with a print in the evening I agree I think the print is great I love the idea of just being complete and I think there's something to be said with a print in the evening I agree I think the print is great
31:33I love the idea of just being completely pure strapless ball gown but I will caution you when you're going to be so simple it needs to be utterly perfect everyone loves a black grograin at the waist but it's like slightly too high or not high enough or something
31:51to me the grograin in the back looks a little poor if you can turn around sweetie I wish the tails on the ribbon were about three four feet longer to give it more drama for the opera
32:01I think it's a good dress but it could have been spectacular I mean I did add pockets
32:06I love pockets in a dress
32:08I love pockets
32:09I need my lipstick in my iPhone you know
32:11I think it's a very pretty dress I just question where are you in this dress
32:16it could be anybody's dress I'm not getting your personality from it
32:20Michael tell us about your opera gown
32:25Mark and James said if you're going to do black make it spectacular
32:28I wanted her to just walk in a room and everyone want to know who is she what is she doing here is she the star of the show
32:35I can't believe you made this dress in a day because it's perfect it's shockingly perfect
32:40and everything I was saying to Austin about modesty I'm taking away and saying Kim Kardashian at the opera or something
32:47turn around because the back of it is really something too
32:50oh I love that super sexy that one strap across the back
32:54but don't kid yourself this is not a dress that a lot of women can wear
32:58I mean you have to have a perfect perfect body to wear it
33:00I love that you use matte jersey I think it's such a flattering fabric and you did all that beading and feathering for $350
33:09yeah most of my budget went on the trim and the feathers
33:12even if she's going alone she's certainly not going home alone in that dress
33:15no
33:16it's exquisite I love how closed up she is in the front and how bare in the back
33:20it's so sexy
33:22well I certainly want to wear that dress
33:24thank you I can't wait to wear it
33:27designers you've given us a lot to think about
33:31we're now going to deliberate and we'll call you back
33:35you can leave the runway
33:42so we have our high and our low scores
33:44let's talk about our low scores
33:46April
33:48I love this thought of taking a gown and kind of dipping it in black ink or something
33:52it didn't go far enough
33:53it looks like she was putting gas in her car and she's standing in the oil slick
33:57like she fell in her butt
34:00super ambitious but on one day I think you have to know your limitations
34:04she wasn't boring though and she did try and show who she is in that dress
34:08but I don't understand why she chose all these different fabrics
34:11the detail in the back looked like the sewing machine just stitched all the extra fabric down
34:16it was totally random it was like random surrender to a mistake
34:20let's talk about Sweet Pea's dress
34:24I think that skirt would really appeal to a lot of women
34:28it's pretty the fabric was rich
34:30I wish the bodice had been made out of what the skirt was made of
34:33because the skirt looked well put together
34:35and then the bodice looked like a swimsuit
34:38to me it looked like some crazy 40s bathing suit
34:41like some granny bathing suit
34:43and she called that a ball gown
34:45and that just wasn't a ball gown
34:47tell Scarlett O'Hara that that's a ball gown
34:49let's talk about Cara
34:52I sort of got where she was going with that effortless look
34:55the young look
34:56but to me it lacked personality
34:58I've seen that dress a thousand times
35:00I think I might be alone on this one but I adore this dress
35:03I think it's so charming
35:04I know a hundred girls that would love to wear it
35:06I'm not personally that crazy about the choice of fabric
35:10I don't know that many girls that would wear it and I wouldn't
35:13it's minimalism, right?
35:15but if she's doing minimalism on this dress
35:17where'd the bow come from?
35:19that's true, that's true
35:20that bow bothered me
35:21and you were saying you wished it was like
35:23four feet longer and I just wanted to chop it off
35:28okay let's talk about our top scorers
35:30what do you think about Anthony's dress?
35:32I thought Anthony did a beautiful dress
35:35I think it was beautifully draped, impeccably made
35:38I liked that it was white
35:40the drapery was specific and not just kind of all over the place
35:45I liked the asymmetry on it
35:46I thought it was very interesting
35:47it makes it a little more theatrical for the opera
35:49I thought it was a great gown
35:51perhaps a little bit too heavy handed on some of the accessories
35:53but for the most part I thought the model looked fantastic
35:58let's talk about Austin's dress
36:00gladly
36:01I loved Austin's dress
36:03it came across to me as the freshest dress there
36:06it was tasteful but it was still exciting
36:09and beautifully executed
36:11tasteful is such a good word
36:13I haven't heard that one in a very long time
36:15and that's what that dress was to me tasteful
36:18working with a fabric which is so tricky like lame
36:21and the way it cut on the body
36:23it was just flawless
36:25what do you think about Michael's gown?
36:28this was spectacular
36:30it was really great
36:31much as I love that dress
36:33you see dresses like that a lot
36:35with loads of stones and feathers and bells and whistles
36:40but there was something fresh about the fact that it came all the way up
36:42I like that
36:43you gotta give it to the black feathers and jewels
36:47but that jersey dress was built beautifully
36:50he's kind of knack for this kind of dressing
36:52I think the way that he placed the embroidery was really really special
36:55that's what made you look at the dress
36:57the way that he covered everything here with the feathers
37:00this little shrug thing
37:01and with the back showing
37:02they definitely have personality
37:04so are we all agreed?
37:08we're all agreed
