00:00Verifying claims that Spain sent humanitarian aid in bad condition to Gaza
00:05On 1 August, Spain, along with Germany, France, the UAE and Jordan,
00:15airdropped food and medical supplies into the Gaza Strip.
00:19Spain provided 12 tonnes of aid, dropped using 24 parachutes.
00:23This included 5,500 food rations designed to feed 11,000 people.
00:29In this viral video shared online the following day, a young Palestinian shows a bag of humanitarian aid
00:35that bears Spanish writing and the branding of Homipsa, an Alicante-based company that provides humanitarian aid.
00:43It is, presumably, one of the bags airdropped the previous day.
00:47The Palestinian goes on to explain that the bag was dropped over the Khan Yunis area
00:51and was sold on the black market for around 75 euros.
00:55He then shows sachets covered with mould.
01:00Spanish media have also received these images of what seems to be the same aid being sold in a Gaza market.
01:07Sources on the ground told Spanish news agency EFE that the packets were being sold for the equivalent of 90 euros.
01:14The Spanish Foreign Ministry has said that all packets were sent in good condition
01:18and that the products they contained expired in June 2026.
01:23In a statement shared with Euroverify, the ministry said it was impossible to verify the origin of a package without the batch number,
01:30but that the Spanish company in question had also sold supplies to other donor countries.
01:35The ministry has also rejected other claims circulating online that the packets they sent included pork products,
01:42saying all food supplies had the halal certification.
