00:01Previously on Project Runway All Stars,
00:03your challenge is to create a wearable piece of art.
00:07This is the avant-garde challenge.
00:11I wanted to create this massive moment that shielded her.
00:15Don't make it too Blade Runner.
00:17I don't want you to get so trapped in this
00:20that you don't think of doing something outside the box.
00:26I like this piece very much.
00:27The jacket has got an amazing movement to it.
00:30This is avant-garde.
00:32The hood made me so uncomfortable, which is good.
00:35Ken, I think this is great.
00:36And I love seeing just a sliver of her underneath.
00:39Really, it's divine.
00:41The winning designer this week is Ken.
00:47Thank you so much.
00:48This feels so unresolved to me.
00:51I don't think the end result was provoking in the way that you wanted.
00:55It just looks like you ripped up fabric
00:57and just kind of threw it on the dress.
00:58It might have been better just all in black.
01:00Maybe even more wasted, you know.
01:02The designer eliminated tonight is...
01:06Emily.
01:09Are you safe?
01:10Yes.
01:11Well, I think that's bull****.
01:12This is Project Runway All-Stars.
01:13Oh!
01:14That is so cool.
01:15That is fabulous.
01:16Well, hey.
01:17Oh, it says Project Runway.
01:18I love that.
01:19It's cute, right?
01:20It's from Cute Circuit.
01:21I want one.
01:22This week we're looking at how technology has influenced fashion.
01:28Smartphones and other devices have really become an extension of our wardrobe, including mine.
01:34But don't worry.
01:35You don't have to make a dress that lights up.
01:36So we have come to a crucial point in the competition.
01:39You're all one step away from a shot at the Project Runway All-Stars title.
01:41We're only one challenge away from the finale, and it's real.
01:43It's real.
01:44It's real.
01:45It's real.
01:46It's real.
01:47It's real.
01:48It's real.
01:49It's real.
01:50It's real.
01:51It's real.
01:52It's real.
01:53It's real.
01:54It's real.
01:55You're all one step away from a shot at the Project Runway All-Stars title.
02:00We're only one challenge away from the finale, and it's real.
02:04To get there, you have to make it through this week's challenge.
02:07And to set it, we have a guest that's always on the forefront of fashion.
02:12And it's someone you may recognize.
02:18Dana!
02:19Hello, designers!
02:23Please welcome to All-Stars creative director of Marie Claire and Project Runway judge,
02:29Nina Garcia.
02:30Congratulations.
02:32For making it this far.
02:33Nina will be joining the judges this week.
02:36I've heard how well you're doing, and I wanted to come and see for myself.
02:40And I'm going to give you this week's challenge.
02:43Whether it's a smartphone, a tablet, or a watch, technology is now a real fashion accessory.
02:50Designers are collaborating with tech and accessory companies.
02:54And one of the most exciting is OtterBox.
02:57And here to tell us more from OtterBox, please welcome Barbara Meyer.
03:01Hello, Barbara.
03:02Tell us all about OtterBox.
03:04OtterBox is really best known for making super protective phone cases.
03:08But what a lot of people don't know about us is how much we actually collaborate with fashion designers, like yourselves,
03:13to make sure that our cases not only protect your phone, but also look fantastic.
03:18Just like mine.
03:20Your challenge is to create your own fabric by using technology to design and print your own pattern.
03:28Designers, we're looking for a head-turning, show-stopping look that showcases print-on-print fashion.
03:35And you have $150 at Mood to buy an additional print to add to your original and create your finished garment.
03:43And Nina and Barbara have a prize for this week's winner.
03:46The winning designer will have the opportunity to create an exclusive OtterBox case, which will be manufactured and sold worldwide.
03:55Wow.
03:56That's so cool.
03:57That is cool.
03:58Thank you, Barbara.
03:59And Nina and I will see you back here on the runway tomorrow.
04:03All right.
04:04Bye.
04:05Bye.
04:09We get to the workroom and their computer setup.
04:12And we have the ability to design our own prints.
04:15The print I design is very geometric.
04:18I love the combination of the red and pink.
04:21They're girly, but kind of fun and edgy at the same time because it is so geometric.
04:27I really want to see this when it's printed full scale.
04:31Print-on-print-on-print.
04:32Yay.
04:33Save.
04:34You guys all done?
04:35Yeah.
04:36Yeah.
04:37That's how two moves.
04:38Wait for me.
04:39It's just horrible.
04:40Bye.
04:41Bye.
04:44All right, guys.
04:45Let's get to sketching.
04:48Why y'all so quiet?
04:49Y'all concentrating?
04:51I want to do a men's tuxedo and make it into a woman's.
04:56And I'm thinking to do like an emphasized sleeve and a flowy skirt.
05:00This experience has been so much fun.
05:02I'm just ready to show them even more.
05:04Yeah, I think we're done.
05:05Let's go.
05:07I'm going to get more of that neoprene mesh that I can't keep my hands off of.
05:11So I'm running all through the store and I see all these different stripes and I'm really not wowed yet.
05:16Love this.
05:17What's...
05:18Is this the...
05:19Oh, it's two sides too.
05:20Yeah, you can do some four sides.
05:22I found this amazing brocade.
05:24All right, let's do that.
05:25I'm creating a very structural jacket and it has these sleeves that over exaggerate the elbow.
05:33The jacket is going to be the showstopper.
05:38I decide to go with a vegan leather.
05:41I find one that's nice and matte.
05:42Thank you so much.
05:43You're welcome.
05:45And then I also find some really great black and white geometric prints that are going to complement the print that I designed on the tablet.
05:51Yeah, one quarter.
05:55Thank you so much.
06:02Is fabric here yet?
06:03How much you want to bet that Alyssa is going to come in with our prints and be like, you have to use each other's prints.
06:08Oh, Lord.
06:09I picked Kaney's print.
06:11It's black and white.
06:14We're back.
06:16Hi.
06:17Oh my gosh.
06:18I'm so proud of you.
06:19Got your fabric.
06:20This is what we were waiting for.
06:21Who comes in the door?
06:22Who comes in the door?
06:23It's all the winners from Project Runway All Stars.
06:26What is happening?
06:28Yeah, what the hell is going on?
06:30We're here to share our experience in terms of what to expect and how to get there.
06:37This is a happy surprise.
06:38I'm a ready to wear designer and I've noticed that judges want runway pieces.
06:42How can I elevate that to get their attention?
06:44It's important to be yourself no matter what.
06:46Mm-hmm.
06:47You have to be smart with the choice of your fabrics and then with the silhouette.
06:52Mm-hmm.
06:53I think the fact that I'm using print is scaring the hell out of me.
06:55And looking around the room, all the prints are pretty bold and they have a statement.
07:00And because it has this kind of a, like a madame attitude, so I think if you go maybe clean but volume.
07:06Gotcha.
07:07So make sure it just does not read, you know.
07:09Old lady.
07:10Old lady.
07:11Yeah.
07:12I'll try to keep that in mind.
07:13Absolutely.
07:14Well, I will keep that in mind.
07:15Dimitri's been in my shoes before and I value his opinion because he's won Project Runway and Project Runway All Stars.
07:23This is it.
07:24Yeah.
07:25This is where we go from here will determine the top three.
07:28Exactly.
07:29Coming off of my season with my collection, I was happy with it, but I look back and I know I could have done more.
07:35Do you know what I mean?
07:36Yeah, yeah, yeah.
07:37So, you may give you my advice.
07:39Yeah.
07:40Okay.
07:41Because I've seen the looks from the previous episodes.
07:43Is just add a little bit more sex to it, you know, like.
07:47Yeah, yeah, yeah.
07:48Because you've shown them prim and proper.
07:49So, go for something that is not safe, but still you.
07:53Yeah.
07:54Anthony Ryan gives me great advice.
07:56I'm really happy.
07:57I needed that boost of confidence.
07:59It was just really nice to get to talk to him.
08:01I've printed with these.
08:02Dynamics?
08:03They're good.
08:04You've been here before.
08:05Yeah, yeah.
08:06So, tell me.
08:07Give me, give me advice.
08:08You should definitely be who you are.
08:10Mm-hmm.
08:11I never said, what do they want to see?
08:12Yeah.
08:13Who cares what they want?
08:14I'm going to show them what I am.
08:16And that's what I think you should stick with.
08:18A lot of the things I've been doing so far have been really structured.
08:21I've seen you to work structure, and you know how to do that.
08:23Yeah.
08:24I want to show them that I can do something a little bit more feminine.
08:27Maybe this is that extra push, showing them you, but in a different way.
08:32Yeah.
08:33To catch their eye.
08:34That's what it's going to take to go to the finale.
08:37How are you doing right now?
08:38It's definitely been a lot harder, and I've had to really push myself under the gun.
08:44Like, I had you.
08:45Mondo was my mentor on Under the Gun, so this feels like a little bit of a family reunion.
08:50I had a chance to look at what you've been working on this entire season.
08:53Really?
08:54Yes, and it's really strong.
08:55I will say that some of the things that I saw, the execution wasn't 100%.
08:59No.
09:00The ideas are there.
09:01Right.
09:02You know, and I think that if you really push forward and really execute your ideas fully,
09:07I think it's going to be really, really fresh and really, really, really cool.
09:10But the execution has to be there.
09:11Yes.
09:12I really think that you have a chance to win this whole thing.
09:15Thanks, Mondo.
09:16I do.
09:17I feel like this mentor session with Mondo is, like, a little bit of the nudge that I needed
09:23to, like, re-motivate me to win.
09:25So, here it is, you guys.
09:26You're, like, the top four.
09:28Work hard and work with love.
09:30Good luck to everybody.
09:31Stay true to yourself, and do not bore Nina.
09:34That's all.
09:35I'm out.
09:36Bye.
09:37Bye, guys.
09:42Hi, designers.
09:45So empty in here.
09:47In fashion, prints on prints is now an established trend.
09:51And thanks to technology, the way you can create prints is getting more and more exciting.
09:56Digital prints are huge on the runway, so I can't wait to see what you've designed.
10:00Keeney, I'm coming to you first.
10:02Hey.
10:03Keeney, tell me about your print you're creating.
10:06I wanted to do a little floral leaf print.
10:09So, this is actually a bunch of leaves laid on top of each other.
10:13I wanted to do a play on a men's tuxedo.
10:15Nice.
10:16Nice top, and then just, like, dramatic sleeve.
10:20You want to make it interesting?
10:21Yes.
10:22You don't want to make it gimmicky?
10:23Yeah.
10:24There is nothing that Nina dislikes more than a gimmick.
10:28The criteria was head-turner.
10:29Yeah, exactly.
10:30We want head-turning in the right way, not in the wrong way.
10:33Yeah, exactly.
10:34All right.
10:35Hi, Sam.
10:36Hi, Vanna.
10:37There's a print coming along.
10:38Is this the one you created?
10:39You like it?
10:40Yeah, I do like it.
10:41Yeah.
10:42I think it's cool.
10:43It feels fresh.
10:44And then I got these two fabrics to make a jumpsuit out of.
10:50I feel like every time I come to talk to you, the word jumpsuit comes up.
10:56Sam making another jumpsuit.
11:02I'm using mesh again because, obviously, I can't stop doing athleisure if I tried.
11:08It's, like, different and weird and cool.
11:10Make it look different.
11:11Will do.
11:12Hi, Ken.
11:13Hi, Zanna.
11:14How's it going?
11:15Well, I have this mirrored reflection print here.
11:19I'm having a little issues because when I work with prints, it's like, oh!
11:24Well, you killed it with black last week.
11:26Yeah, I did.
11:27You have to get this to match this and to work together.
11:31Right now, I can't see that.
11:35You have to master your silhouette.
11:38There is not a moment for a wrong decision right now.
11:41Every tiny little decision you make is make or break.
11:46Do not go home for this one.
11:47Okay.
11:48Good luck, Ken.
11:49Thank you so much.
11:50Hi, Dom.
11:51Hi, Zanna.
11:52How's it going?
11:53Good, good.
11:54Correct me if I'm wrong, but this should be yours for the taking.
11:57You are our print master.
11:58I love this challenge.
11:59I'm so happy.
12:00All right.
12:01Well, let's make sure it's good.
12:02Show me.
12:03What are you doing?
12:04What's the print you created?
12:05So, this is my created print with Dynamics.
12:07And then I'm going to have a jacket that she can throw on on top.
12:11What will the jacket be made of?
12:13I'm doing a leather and I'm painting it.
12:16This coat is stressing me out because this looks like a piece of leather with some paint on it.
12:22I did not know it was going to take that long to paint some lines on some leather.
12:26You know prints inside out.
12:28This is the one challenge you need to win.
12:30They will be expecting great things from you.
12:33I know.
12:34There's a lot to do.
12:35So, on it.
12:36Designers, I want to remind you what the judges are really looking for.
12:39A head turning, show stopping, print on print.
12:42Give them a look they will never forget.
12:45That will guarantee your place in the final.
12:47Good luck, guys.
12:49Thank you, Zanna.
12:50Thank you, Zanna.
12:51Bye.
12:53My ass ain't got to put on my .
12:56I'm terrified about running out of time at this point.
13:00We're all physically tired as .
13:02And all season I've been wrestling with time management.
13:05This is not the time to lose that match.
13:07just got real.
13:09Really real.
13:10This has been the craziest ride ever.
13:12I mean, All Stars makes Under the Gun look like preschool.
13:16You finished your jacket?
13:17Nope.
13:18Nothing is finished.
13:19Child, you're like the only one.
13:23We got an hour?
13:24An hour.
13:25I have learned to manage my time well on this show, but I know that it is a struggle for
13:38a lot of people.
13:39Time flew by.
13:40All right, you guys.
13:4115 minutes.
13:42What the ?
13:43I just gonna sprint back to this sewing machine.
13:53It's the end of the day, and I still feel like I'm the underdog in the room.
13:57Jesus playing with the time.
13:59Something ain't right.
14:00Tomorrow morning, I have to finish the sleeves, add a zipper, do hem.
14:06Okay, you guys.
14:07That's time.
14:08No sale.
14:09Hell, I got a lot of work to do.
14:12Come on, Ken.
14:13Let's go, muchacho.
14:15Come on.
14:16Whoa.
14:17Another day.
14:27Behind.
14:28Models.
14:29Hi.
14:30Do you want to throw this on for me really quick?
14:35Turn this way.
14:36I love this look.
14:37I love this look too.
14:38Yeah.
14:39It's the morning of the runway, and I feel like my look is strong.
14:44I mastered print on print, and I'm also giving me, which is the drama in my look.
14:50Yeah.
14:51Oh my God, yeah.
14:52I definitely am not going home.
14:55Yeah.
14:56Kini's print is the kind of print that you make your first year in design school.
15:03Perfect sheen.
15:04I mean, I've seen that look before, and it's not like I've seen it before and it was fabulous.
15:10Like, I've seen it before on reruns.
15:13Yeah.
15:14Welcome to the Swart Shop hair studio.
15:17Hi.
15:18Congratulations.
15:19She has a men's inspired coat.
15:22So, almost like a gentleman's side part.
15:24Something slicking in like a little bun.
15:26Just sort of like up.
15:27Up.
15:28Yeah.
15:29And then back.
15:30I want to keep the hair real simple, just sleek.
15:32Hello.
15:33What a tall drink of water.
15:35I'm thirsty.
15:36So, I think we keep her like really cool, like a cool cat eye.
15:44Then I would go with a nude lip.
15:46I bet you're pretty nude.
15:48Oh.
15:49I wanted to create something that was real bold in her eye.
15:52We'll start with some eyeliner to base it, and then we'll go right into that Laura Geller carbon.
15:57The light color, right above the iris.
16:01I don't even know what the I'm doing right now.
16:04Put makeup on her.
16:06Ta-da!
16:12Accessorizing is key factor in fashion and style.
16:16And the Barber Bar Jewelry Wall has the best accessories ever to complete your look.
16:21I want the design to be the focal point.
16:23So, just a sexy shoe from the Chinese laundry shoe wall.
16:26Okay.
16:35Somehow, I don't know how it happened, but I was able to finish my jacket.
16:40I pulled this look off.
16:42It looks good.
16:43I'm proud of it.
16:46I'm just happy.
16:48Okay, you guys.
16:50That's time.
16:51Let's go.
16:52Man, I don't know how we do this every time.
16:56The winner of Project Runway All-Stars will receive the opportunity to design an exclusive
17:05line of jewelry for bobblebar.com.
17:07The final say in fashion jewelry.
17:10A capsule footwear collection by Chinese Laundry.
17:13A fashion spread in Marie Claire in a position at the magazine as contributing editor.
17:18From Brother Sewing & Embroidery.
17:20A complete sewing studio to launch their line.
17:23And to elevate their business and build their brand.
17:26A cash prize of $100,000.
17:32Ooh.
17:33Hello.
17:34Hi.
17:35Hi, designers.
17:36This week, our previous All-Stars winners returned.
17:39Bringing your original printed fabric for a Prince on Prince look.
17:43Let's meet tonight's judges.
17:45First designer and co-founder of luxury brand Marquesa, Georgina Chapman.
17:51Hi, designers.
17:52Hi.
17:53Next, one of the most iconic names in American fashion, Isaac Mizrahi.
17:59Sure, Jill.
18:00And this week's guest is very at home in the judge's chair.
18:05You've been critiqued by her before.
18:07Well, most of you.
18:10It's creative director for Marie Claire and Project Runway judge, Nina Garcia.
18:15Woo!
18:16Hi, everyone.
18:17Hi.
18:18Hi.
18:19The winner will have the opportunity to create an exclusive OtterBox case that will be manufactured
18:24and sold worldwide.
18:27Have a great show.
18:38Good job.
18:39Amazing.
18:44I'm very happy with this look.
18:46Obviously, I would like to have painted the jacket a little bit slower.
18:50There's some smudges on there.
18:51But I feel like my idea was realized.
18:54It's colorful and fun.
18:56Mm-hmm.
18:57The prints do work well together.
18:58And I'm glad I used the wrong side of the fabric I picked for move versus the right side.
19:03Because my garment need a statement piece in it, and the wrong side added that.
19:07Most prints do work well together.
19:08And I'm glad I used the wrong side of the fabric I picked for move versus the right side.
19:14Because my garment need a statement piece in it, and the wrong side added that.
19:20So I'm glad you heard it.
19:21I love the print steward with you.
19:23Okay.
19:24She looks really powerful.
19:34She looks really sexy, masculine in the right ways.
19:37I think she looks like a million bucks.
19:40I like how it kind of onwarded it for me.
19:51Yes.
19:52Love my look.
19:53I think that it's the most moderate in the room.
19:56It's the most forward thinking in the room.
19:57It's about what's next in fashion,
19:59not what happened 20 years ago on a soap opera.
20:03I love that mesh.
20:04You are obsessed with that mesh.
20:05I love that mesh.
20:06I can't stop.
20:19Designers, thank you for your work this week.
20:21Three of you will make it to the All-Stars final.
20:24But for one of you, the journey ends tonight.
20:27Kini, we'll start with you.
20:35Tell us about your design.
20:36I wanted to take my girl on the red carpet and I designed the print for the jacket.
20:41I wanted to play off of a men's tuxedo and make it feminine.
20:45And then this is the contrasting fabric that I got to go with it.
20:50I think you did a wonderful job here.
20:51Your girl looks like 10 foot tall in this look.
20:54She really does, which every woman wants to look.
20:57It's just so flattering on her.
20:58I agree with Georgina.
21:00I think you did a great job today.
21:02I really love this.
21:04My funny notes are about, to me, the print that you bought looks more exciting
21:10and it looks like more of a feature than the print that you created.
21:14I also love the cut of the skirt.
21:16And that's very unlike me to love a skirt like that.
21:18It's severe and really beautiful.
21:21But in the case of this print and the ease of the fabric, you really nailed something.
21:27And like Georgina said, she looks so tall.
21:30There were two designers that I identified immediately.
21:33Kini, you were one of them.
21:35I recognized the tailoring, the polish, the drama, especially on the shoulders.
21:41And I do think that you would have been better off without the pockets and the details
21:45because already the jacket is so over the top with the shoulders.
21:49It only makes it look inexpensive.
21:52Other than that, I thought this was fantastic.
21:55Hi, Sam.
21:56So I wanted to do something like really artistic and like modern and forward thinking.
22:00The print that I created was this sort of like digitized floral.
22:04And then I picked two prints as my secondaries.
22:09My issue here starting off is it's not my favorite print, Sam.
22:13I've got to be honest.
22:14I'm not loving the fabrics here.
22:17Can you take the jacket off?
22:18I just want to see what's going on underneath here.
22:20I just think it's a challenging print for an all-over bodysuit.
22:26And with a mesh in the middle, I think it's quite challenging.
22:28But you've got a lot of fresh ideas, Sam, and that sets you apart from everybody
22:32because you do think in a different way.
22:34And you do give us something original and thought-provoking every time.
22:38I know Sam has been waiting for this moment.
22:41I know.
22:42I am so excited right now.
22:44Nice to meet you, Sam.
22:46It's wonderful to meet you too, Nina.
22:47I have not had the pleasure to see your work.
22:50I do like this coat.
22:52I like the contrast of this coat with that kind of romantic, flowery print.
22:58What I have a problem with is the undergarment of this.
23:03The jersey, slouchy top.
23:05With the coat, it just doesn't work.
23:07The print by itself, I don't mind.
23:09It feels like you're jumping into a pool.
23:11I wouldn't mind having it as a skin for my iPhone.
23:15It looks like an iPhone case to me.
23:17I think the jumpsuit is super chic with the exclusion of the net at the waist.
23:21But I just like the slouchiness of it.
23:23And to me, that feels really fresh.
23:26Dumb.
23:27I wanted to do a really cool, like, hip downtown girl.
23:31This is the print that I designed, the red, pink, and white one.
23:34And then the secondary and third print are the stripe.
23:37And then there's another print in the seam line.
23:40And then this is the leather that I painted in the studio.
23:43There's something really fabulous about this look.
23:45It feels very fresh.
23:47I love the fact that you took the stripe and made it almost as a neutral.
23:53The print, I love.
23:55I think I would see it on my phone, and it would make me happy.
23:59I would love to see the jacket off.
24:01Yeah.
24:02And can you turn around?
24:03I'm trying to understand the length.
24:05This is the only thing that kind of tripped me off.
24:08It just looks odd.
24:09I would rather have seen it one length, just not so chopped off on the side.
24:15Can you do a spin for me so I can see the back of the coat?
24:18It's beautiful.
24:19It's like a piece of art.
24:20Truly.
24:21You can turn back around.
24:22To me, the two pieces are great separately, and I like them together, but I would probably
24:31like them better apart.
24:32I will agree with Isaac.
24:33The mix of prints here is so, so great.
24:36And I love the naive take on the print that you've done on the jacket.
24:40I actually prefer that to the digital print.
24:42But it is interesting the way that you've cut the coat exactly at the point that the underdress
24:47is.
24:47So I do appreciate the intention of that.
24:52Ken, tell us about your design.
24:54She was going to an event.
24:55She wanted to have something that was a little edgy, but still dark.
24:59I designed the print at the top with brushstrokes, keeping that in mind, and I picked this up
25:05for Mood.
25:05What is so great about you is you know your woman, you always have her in mind, and she's
25:10usually very recognizable.
25:12This week, there's a lack of polish that you normally have that I just am not seeing here
25:17today.
25:18I like the print you've done very much, but then somehow, to me, it's not quite gelling
25:22with the print at the bottom.
25:23They're just not my favorite.
25:25They feel quite dark, and I think even the neck, if you're going to be slightly high
25:31waist of the neck, maybe you could have gone a bit lower.
25:33I just think a bit more, a bit more from you, Ken.
25:37I think that it's a valiant effort at something.
25:41My note is similar to the note of Keeney's.
25:43Like, that print is not what I notice on this dress.
25:46And I think, like, Georgina is right about the proportions, and yet, like, if you had one
25:51more second to study it, I wish it was just the miniest bit shorter, so it was just covering
25:57her knee.
25:57I think that would, like, really kind of give us exactly what you were looking for.
26:01I love seeing your look.
26:03In terms of the print, the mood print is much better than your print.
26:09Your print looks a little bit like the supporting role as opposed to the star.
26:14The star, right.
26:14And if I were thinking about it as the cover of my iPhone, I would want something that says
26:20something.
26:21This feels a little too subdued, a little depressed, and it really feels very 80s.
26:26There's something too dated about this look.
26:29Thank you, designers.
26:30You've done some great work, but only three of you will make it into next week's final.
26:35The judges and I have a tough decision to make.
26:38Please take a seat in the backstage lounge, and we will call you back out.
26:48Nina, it's so great to have you here.
26:50I'm so flattered.
26:51Thank you guys for having me.
26:53It's really wonderful to see the designers back and to see how much they've grown.
26:57Well, let's talk about some of the designers you've seen already.
27:00Let's talk about Keeney.
27:02He did a good job today, didn't he?
27:03He really did.
27:04Keeney has an exuberance that he just sort of goes mad in the fabric store and mad with
27:09the draping, which is so much fun.
27:11For me, there's still that taste issue, and today it worked, but it was still present.
27:16I know that Keeney is cognizant about the taste issue because that was an issue when he
27:21was doing our show.
27:22So, Keeney seems to take risks.
27:26Keeney will come out here and give you something that is so crazy off the charts and so precise
27:33in its tailoring, but it's very creative.
27:36He gives us something to judge.
27:38Consistently, I think out of all of them, he was the strongest pretty much all season.
27:42Let's discuss Dom's look.
27:47It was fabulous.
27:48Really fabulous.
27:49Absolutely.
27:49I will say, though, I wished that the pieces themselves were slightly easier so that I could
27:55focus on the relationship of the patterns, you know?
27:58I'm not a huge fan of that digital print she did.
28:01I didn't find it most expensive looking.
28:03And I was relieved that she had put her hand-painted print with it.
28:07Very smart to do that.
28:07Because that pulled it back to me and it made it feel more expensive.
28:11Yes, it did.
28:12But I'm going Dom's print, like, I don't want to discount it.
28:16There was such a freshness about it and such a real sophistication.
28:19I thought it worked brilliantly.
28:21I thought that's what was so fresh about it.
28:24Me too.
28:24That contrast was phenomenal.
28:26Ken designs for a very specific woman.
28:33Right.
28:33And that woman is not perhaps the most forward-thinking woman, the most exciting.
28:38We've seen glimpses from Ken that have been a little bit more interesting than that.
28:42And then he keeps going back to that same woman.
28:44Yeah, I don't understand how you play it safe.
28:46I don't either.
28:47I don't think that Ken took any risk.
28:50Oh, I don't know.
28:51He gave us an 80s silhouette that we have seen that, frankly, the pattern makes me sad just to look at it.
28:58It's gloomy.
28:59I don't agree.
29:00No, I agree with her.
29:01I would be sad every day if I had to look at my phone case.
29:04If I had to look at your...
29:05Great.
29:06It would make me cry every time I had to call my mom.
29:08Well, I cry every day.
29:09Yeah, sorry.
29:10That's a whole other story.
29:14Let's get into Sam.
29:16There is something a little more modern to him.
29:19What I hated was that contrast between that jersey, kind of leisure tracksuit with this very 60s, I don't know.
29:28It was just a contrast that didn't work for me.
29:30Why is he using neoprene net again this week?
29:33That really makes me upset.
29:34That's upsetting to me.
29:35I wouldn't mind that coat if it didn't feel like a mistake.
29:39But with what was underneath, I didn't believe the coat.
29:42That jumpsuit was just bad.
29:44So we definitely have our winner.
29:49Absolutely.
29:50We do.
29:50The loser, on the other hand.
29:52Is it Sam or is it Ken?
29:53You have one that really knows his aesthetic and one that I want to see grow.
29:57This is really hard.
30:00Okay, let's bring them out.
30:01Dom and Keeney, one of you is the winner of this challenge.
30:18Nina, would you like to do the honors?
30:20And the winner of this challenge is...
30:26Dom.
30:34Congratulations.
30:35Thanks.
30:36That means you have a guaranteed place in next week's final.
30:40And Keeney, too.
30:42You also have a guaranteed place in the final.
30:47We will see you both next week.
30:50You can leave the runway.
30:52Thank you so much.
30:52It's good to see you, Nina.
30:53Have a good rest.
30:54Good luck.
30:54Get your sleep.
30:56It's so awesome to be in the finale.
30:59I'm so happy.
31:00I forgot how good this feels to be in the top.
31:02And that leaves Sam and Ken.
31:07There is only one place left in the final.
31:14For the first time this season, the judges cannot make a decision.
31:18The hell no.
31:26And that leaves Sam and Ken.
31:29For the first time this season, the judges cannot make a decision.
31:33We need more time.
31:36So please wait in the backstage lounge, and we will call you back soon.
31:40So there are only three places in the final.
31:50So that means that someone is definitely going home this evening.
31:53If you put these two side by side, I swear to you, I sort of hate them equally for different
31:57reasons.
31:58I agree.
31:58I just don't think we saw the best from either of them today.
32:01Knowing what we've seen for the last season, I don't think either of them gave themselves
32:05a fair shot tonight.
32:06I don't think we're ready to make this decision.
32:10Okay, let's bring them out.
32:12There are two boxes just hanging out.
32:28I don't know what is going on.
32:31Designers, one of the issues this season has been not letting your work speak for itself.
32:38So we're about to let it do just that.
32:42Two boxes have been randomly placed on the runway.
32:47Each contains one winning and one losing look from a challenge this season.
32:52Your challenge is to reconstruct these two garments into a completely different look.
33:00One that keeps you safe and guarantees you a place in the final.
33:06And it will take place live on the runway.
33:09I'm very grateful for the second chance, but this is ridiculous.
33:16Behind you are identical sets of the tools you will need.
33:20And you will only have one hour to complete your look.
33:26If there is a more stressful scenario, I would like to see it.
33:30In an hour's time, Georgina, Isaac, Nina, and I will return to review your new look and make our final decision.
33:41Sam, Ken, what you're about to do will either send you to the final or send you home.
33:46So good luck to the both of you.
33:51I just don't want this win.
33:55I need this win.
33:57It's about to go down.
33:59I have not come this far to be thrown off by some question marked garment box.
34:06Bring this challenge on.
34:08I open the box and the angel starts singing, hallelujah.
34:20It's my winning Baroque dress.
34:22And it's Mitchell's Lucent dress from that same challenge.
34:25No.
34:26It is the winning and losing look from the fairytale fashion challenge.
34:30And the first thing that pops into my head is Asha is going to kill me.
34:36Sorry, Asha.
34:46The dress fits her to perfection.
34:49So with this in mind, I'm going to work smart and not hard.
34:53I'm going to just make this dress shorter, take out all of the detail.
34:57Since the fit looks amazing, I'm going to let that be the silhouette of the dress.
35:01Hold your eyes.
35:02Just going to get lower.
35:04Hold that for me.
35:06I take the underlayer from Alex's fairytale gown.
35:10And that's what I use to create the dress.
35:12I'm going to try to whip stitch this and clean it up a little bit.
35:16See what's been done with that jacket, okay?
35:18I take the bodice of Asha's look and the bodice of Alexander's look to create the base for my jacket.
35:25And then I sew the sleeves onto it.
35:28And I taper them so that they're more athletic and they're more modern looking.
35:32I would never think to turn a pair of pants into sleeves.
35:36Sam, we got 15 minutes.
35:38Hurry up.
35:38Holy crap.
35:39How do you feel right now?
35:48As okay as I can, given that I just went 45 minutes making a jacket out of a peplum.
35:54Starting out, I was nervous.
35:56But when I look over and I saw what Sam was doing, I calmed down tremendously.
36:01I got this.
36:02Two minutes.
36:03It's weird going up against Ken because I know how badly he wants this.
36:08But honestly, I think I'm a better designer.
36:11We have 60 seconds, Sam.
36:18Time.
36:20Drop what you have.
36:21Give me some love.
36:22What is taking so long?
36:27So long.
36:30Designers, it's time to reveal your reconstructed looks.
36:34Ken, please reveal your reconstructed look.
36:36I got a winning look and a losing look for the Baroque Inspired Couture Challenge.
36:49I had my dress and I had Mitchell's.
36:51What I did was basically cut the length off of the dress.
36:54It was beading going down the front.
36:57I took that off.
36:58I used the cape and I created the sleeves and the collar.
37:01And I used the black chiffon from the bottom of Mitchell's skirt to outline the collar.
37:07Sam.
37:14So I got the winning and losing look from the Fairytale Fashion Challenge.
37:19So I got Asha's winning look and Alexander's losing look.
37:22I used the lining of Alexander's losing look to create this sort of little flirty mini dress.
37:27And then I used Asha's pants and her bodice to make this sort of letterman jacket.
37:34And the back of the letterman jacket is Alexander's corset.
37:38Georgina, what do you think of Ken and Sam's new looks?
37:41Sam.
37:42I like your girl here.
37:44I like the concept of the jacket.
37:46It's sort of deconstructive and I like the madness of it.
37:50I think there's a multitude of problems going on here.
37:53But I like that you've thrown caution to the wind and I like the essence of her.
37:59I'm very impressed with what you've thrown together.
38:02Ken, you've come out and you've given me something that seems your woman, seems you.
38:08And you know what you're great at doing is you're really great at knowing who you are,
38:12when to start, when saying that's enough.
38:14There's such power and strength in that.
38:16Congratulations to both of you.
38:19I'll start with you, Sam.
38:20I love the idea of a jacket that has a bodice in the back.
38:23I just think it's hilarious and it's a great gesture.
38:26It really is a great gesture.
38:27Whether it's thought through perfectly to the end is a whole other story.
38:31But congratulations, it's amazing that you did that.
38:35Ken, you're onto something that is amazing here.
38:39I think this is kind of what you need to do more of.
38:41Now, I wish you could come over here, but you can't.
38:43Because if you came over here and you looked at that dress, that dress, the length of that dress,
38:49is giving me kind of what I wish the length of that dress was.
38:52It just gives it that cocktail thing that I don't like.
38:55Do you know what I mean?
38:56Sam, there is a cool girl factor to this that I really like.
39:01Can you turn around one more time?
39:02Yeah, it's cute.
39:06And I think the fabrics work really well together.
39:09And I think had I opened those boxes and got those two fabrics, I probably would not have went for it.
39:14So well done.
39:16Ken, I think you are so strategic and smart in how you use that fabric.
39:22I will agree with Isaac.
39:24I think that had you brought that skirt up maybe three inches, it would have just blown me away.
39:32But really, really beautiful, beautiful, beautiful job.
39:35Both of you, great job.
39:37Sam, I think the fact that you used that bustier, you were being very resourceful, but at the same time very creative.
39:44I like the combination of the colors.
39:47I like the effortlessness of your clothes.
39:51Ken, you're very polished.
39:54Very dramatic, very tailored.
39:58This impressed me tremendously, the fact that in an hour you were able to do this.
40:04Thank you, models.
40:05You can leave the runway.
40:12Sam and Ken, you've both done some incredible work, but only one of you can get that last place in the final.
40:18The designer eliminated tonight is...
40:24Sam.
40:30Sam.
40:38Which means can you get that last place in the final?
40:41Sam fought a great fight, but I was hungry for it, and I believe my hunger pushed me to get here.
40:55I'm extremely excited because I didn't make it this far on my season.
40:58Thank you for having me.
41:01It has been an honor.
41:03I am so happy that I got to meet you.
41:05Likewise.
41:06You're in store for some great things, and we can't wait to watch.
41:09All right.
41:10I'm a sashay, if that's okay with you guys.
41:11That's fine, but first you have to hug me.
41:14Bye, sweetheart.
41:15Such a pleasure.
41:16We'll see you again.
41:18All right, shall I?
41:18I have made work that I would not ever have thought could come out of me.
41:31Hi.
41:31Hi.
41:31Hi.
41:32I'm out.
41:33Oh.
41:34Maybe at some point in this competition I felt like I wasn't going to win, but instead of giving up, I pushed harder.
41:41I don't know really what else to say other than I can't wait to see what you guys do.
41:45Well, you did amazing.
41:47You used this to grow from.
41:48It's been a lot to me getting to know you guys, and I could not be happier for the three of you.
41:53Bye.
41:54Bye.
41:54Bye.
41:54Bye.
41:54I guess I should feel sad, but I'm so proud of myself for continuing to push myself.
42:03I feel like I didn't win what I wanted, but I got what I needed.
42:24I guess I should feel like I was going to win what I wanted, but I'm so proud of myself.
42:33I'm so proud of myself.
42:35I'm so proud of myself.
42:35I'm so proud of myself.
42:36I'm so proud of myself.
42:37I'm so proud of myself.
42:38I'm so proud of myself.
42:39I'm so proud of myself.
42:40I'm so proud of myself.
42:41I'm so proud of myself.
42:42I'm so proud of myself.
42:43I'm so proud of myself.
42:44I'm so proud of myself.
42:45I'm so proud of myself.
42:46I'm so proud of myself.
42:47I'm so proud of myself.
42:48I'm so proud of myself.
42:49I'm so proud of myself.
42:50I'm so proud of myself.
42:51I'm so proud of myself.
42:52I'm so proud of myself.
42:53I'm so proud of myself.
