00:00I'm Gemma Arbuckle and my business is called Wharfdale Paws and I've been a
00:06professional dog walker for just over six years now and yeah something I
00:13absolutely love doing I've worked with dogs on and off for about 20 years I've
00:18loved dogs since I was a child really and my mum jokes that my first words
00:23would kind of have a dog and absolutely loved them I've always had like dog
00:27breed books ever since I was a kid and they were the main my main interests
00:31growing up and it's just followed me right through until now workwise I
00:35started working with dogs when I was 12 and started working in the kennels I've
00:40worked in various kennels since then and worked in catteries I was emergency vet
00:45nurse for a while and then I set up for my dog walking business which was the
00:53best thing I ever did really it's been fantastic on the walk today we have
00:56Dimple she's a no 10 year old rescue greyhounds she's a fantastic girl she's
01:04very very sassy very independent we've got a strong personality but she's so sweet
01:10so loving and a little bit of a treat fiend and we've got Robin she's a springer
01:16cocker mix and she's absolutely lovely dog very sweet loves everyone and she just
01:22wants belly rubs all the time she's another very independent lady but as soon as you're
01:27on the floor that's it she comes over she just melts and then we've got Kuma he's a border
01:32collie and he was bred by one of my old clients actually and she messaged me one day about these
01:39puppies and I saw his picture and just knew he was supposed to be mine so he's four years
01:44old now is absolutely wonderful lovely dog best dog I've ever had and it's just fantastic and then
01:51we've got Evie she is a Tamascan so she's a mixed breed she's mostly Malamute another very strong
01:59very very independent lady very strong personality it's strong-willed and stubborn but again she's so
02:05loving so gentle a lot of us professional dog walkers we've invest quite heavily in our training
02:12so we do like dog body language behaviour first aid the majority of us we do know our dogs really
02:19well we get to know them all first before we just throw them in a group we don't just throw them in
02:24groups we kind of see the dog see the personality we'll often do trial walks and make sure they're a
02:30good fit and we're a good fit for them we just do our absolute best for the dogs and we just make
02:36sure that they have a good walk that everyone's safe sound when we come across general public the
02:40majority of us will leash up our dogs and we'll move aside let you pass safely and and yeah we just want
02:47people to be reassured that the dogs are going to be in really capable and educated hands it's really
02:53really hard work but it's just so worth it and especially when you get dogs and you just see them thrive
02:59and flourish
