00:00New York City. This is Fashion Week. Making it here takes more than talent.
00:07You need connections, clout, and cash. Until now.
00:13We send fashion experts to four cities to find the best undiscovered designers in America.
00:20The search began in Los Angeles at the Downtown Standard Hotel.
00:25If given the right fabrics, like, I can kick ass.
00:29You remind me of Todd Odom.
00:32Chicago was our next stop.
00:34I want a chance. I am the struggling artist. I am the underdog.
00:38Have you sold any of your work?
00:39Yeah, I've been selling stuff. I sold out of my trunk.
00:42The search moved on to New York.
00:44It's edgy and nobody has done it.
00:46Who do you see wearing this besides yourself?
00:48Bjork.
00:50I think we're interested in seeing what you could do.
00:53Great. She won't be sorry.
00:55In Miami, the Fontainebleau Hilton was the end of the line.
00:59We want to go ahead and make you a finalist.
01:02Congratulations.
01:03I made it. I made it.
01:05A panel of judges met to discuss the finalists.
01:08Slinky, slinky.
01:09And narrowed it down to the 12 best.
01:11Project Runway offers these 12 unknown designers a chance to show America and the fashion world what they can do.
01:18Every week we'll give them a different challenge that will test their abilities to the limit.
01:23Hey!
01:24And the top names in the industry will be judging them.
01:26This just feels unfinished.
01:28I look at the fur and right away I'm like, I'm in Prada land.
01:32One designer will be cut every week until three remain.
01:36Those three will show their line at Olympus Fashion Week.
01:39Then one winner will be chosen.
01:41The winner will receive a spread in Elle Magazine, a mentorship with the Banana Republic design team,
01:47and $100,000 to start their own line.
01:50It's a head start that money just can't buy.
01:53Given to one designer who earns it where it counts on the runway.
02:02This is a search for the next big fashion designer.
02:05It's a cutthroat business.
02:07The competition was fierce.
02:09Twelve contestants, three finalists, and one winner.
02:14Three designers will make their runway debut at Olympus Fashion Week.
02:17I plan to make it to Fashion Week.
02:19I think I'll be number one.
02:20And the winner of Project Runway will receive everything they need to start their own label.
02:24I think I deserve to win.
02:26People are gonna start getting pretty bitchy.
02:28Oh my.
02:29For these twelve contestants, Project Runway is the chance of a lifetime.
02:41The heart of fashion is New York.
02:43You know, if you plan to become a fashion designer, here would be the place.
02:48I never compromise my art.
02:49I try to satisfy myself and nobody else.
02:56I just finished school at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York.
03:01I was recognized for two years in a row in winning best collections.
03:05I've always had this love of clothes.
03:10I mean, as a child, it was just creating like these fairytale gowns, like playing dress-up.
03:15In high school, I definitely tried to fit in and be like a regular person.
03:22But no matter how much I tried, I still got completely teased.
03:25How are you doing?
03:26I'm Austin.
03:27Austin, Robert.
03:28Nice to meet you.
03:29Hi, Nora.
03:30Nora, how do you do?
03:31I worked in porn for an online sex website.
03:38Yes, I was making good money, but everything I did, everything I looked at, my couch, my table,
03:42my cat, my everything was bought with dirty money.
03:46And I wanted to concentrate on designing again.
03:48My boss said, well, if you're such a great designer, well, why aren't you doing anything?
03:52And a week later, I quit and I was like, you know what?
03:54You're right.
03:55You believe these mother made me unload their luggage?
04:06Hello, everybody.
04:07Welcome.
04:08Hi.
04:09You're in New York, 12 of you, the cream of the crop.
04:13We looked at hundreds of people and you guys made it.
04:15So I want to welcome you guys to your new home.
04:17This is the Atlas New York apartment.
04:20You guys are going to be staying here for a while, some longer than others.
04:27I'm going to give you guys your keys and then later I'm going to meet you at Parsons School of Design.
04:32All right, take a stop, let's go.
04:39Whoa.
04:40So cute.
04:42Oh.
04:43Ever since I was a young girl, I always loved fashion.
04:46So I went to school for it and now I have my own line selling in different boutiques.
04:51People a lot of times underestimate me and how intelligent I am.
04:55I'm a costume designer.
04:57The thing I love about costume designing is designing for different artists and Queen Latifah was one of them.
05:03On the movie set, people always say, why don't you have your line out there?
05:07So this has been like a dream of mine that I've always wanted to have my own line.
05:122018.
05:13Cheers.
05:14Cheers.
05:15Currently, I'm a lawyer in a prominent law firm, but I love fashion design and it just, it makes me so happy to do it.
05:23The struggle is that I have so much to lose and so much invested in law already, but at the same time, but I'd also like to be a really successful fashion designer.
05:32Hey, can you look after me? I'm so unhealthy. I'm the fattest one.
05:36I'm sharing my living space with Miss Venezuela, Audrey Hepburn and Miss Caribbean. So they're absolute babes and then there's me.
05:46The past 10 years of my life have been completely dedicated to starting a small fashion design business based in Houston.
05:54It's been incredibly difficult. I definitely want my clothes to be more readily available throughout America.
06:01I am married and I have a five year old daughter. I have a small business in a small town in Virginia.
06:18There is no way I would have access to the parts of the industry that Project Runway is going to afford me.
06:25I feel like because I am a mom, the kitchen is really important. If we get too stressed out and we don't eat correctly, like good food and healthy food, we're not going to produce what we know we can.
06:38Number one, we have to take care of each other. We have to have our core four that we watch out for because you cannot care about 11 other people, but you can care about three.
06:47We live, yes. Wendy's great. I like to call her mom because she treats us like we're her kids, which is great.
06:54I got into fashion through my mother. She owned a hair salon and in front of me was basically fashion.
07:00My inspiration is basically cars, sports cars like a woman. They're both sleek, sexy and extremely dangerous.
07:12Here it is, people. Here it is.
07:14I've been designing for 12 years. I got into it because it's a family business. My parents didn't want me to get into the fashion business because the apparel business is very tough.
07:29My goal is to be a great American designer.
07:33All right, can we establish something? Who smokes, who doesn't?
07:36I don't smoke.
07:37You smoke?
07:38Who smokes?
07:39Fashion designers smoke.
07:41Didn't you get this newsletter?
07:42I didn't know that.
07:43Honestly.
07:44I'm from L.A. We're just 10.
07:45I want the world to see what I could offer to the fashion industry.
07:50In 1999, I launched my first collection. Actually, my first and only collection. But my father actually got two strokes. So, I had to basically take over the family business. It's a wedding chapel in Los Angeles, actually.
08:05The secret of life.
08:06Now, he's in excellent health. And I'm able now to follow my bliss again this year.
08:11What time did you say we had to meet her?
08:13I don't know. I was just staring at her face the whole time.
08:16We are at Parsons School of Design. This will be your working space. And this is Tim Gunn. He's the head of the fashion program here. He will take care of you, but he will not solve your problems.
08:40Welcome, everyone. I'm very proud to have you here at Parsons. You will be working in the shadow of many illustrious alumni, including Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs, Narciso Rodriguez, Tom Ford. Some of you, certainly one of you, will be joining that distinguished company at the end of the challenges of Project Runway. So, welcome. We're thrilled to have you here.
09:00Let's have a look.
09:01This is where the magic happens.
09:06The fact that it's just being held at Parsons is huge. And you do think your name could be listed next to all the great designers that have come from here.
09:16Okay, everyone. This is your workspace. Over here, you'll find the Banana Republic accessories wall. And in the corner are bolts of cotton, the official fabric of Project Runway.
09:27Okay, let's go downstairs. Let's see the runway. Let's take a look where your fate will be decided.
09:34Designers, this is where the judging and elimination will take place. The first challenge is about innovation, and we will judge you on that. I want you to design a sexy, glamorous dress for a night out in town.
09:57Tim will take you to a store where all the famous designers go. And you cannot start work on this challenge until your shopping trip tomorrow.
10:08This is where your garments will be shown off. And they will be shown off by beautiful models. Models are very crucial because a model can make or break your outfit. So let's bring out the models.
10:24Alison, Audrey, Aaron.
10:29The models, you know, sell the dress. You need a girl who is as passionate about winning as you are.
10:37I will choose your names randomly, and then you can choose your model. Austin. Olga. Robert. I pick Melissa.
10:52Alexandra.
10:55I picked my model, Julia, because she's the tallest, and I think the taller the better. Vanessa.
11:03I choose Joy. Joy it is.
11:06Mario. Aaron.
11:09Kara.
11:12Morgan.
11:15Next one is Kevin.
11:16Martinique.
11:17Daniel.
11:18Mary.
11:19You're hired.
11:20Wendy.
11:21Heidi.
11:22Yes.
11:23I choose Josiane.
11:24Okay.
11:25I think I know who I choose.
11:28You're a star.
11:29Thanks.
11:31I had a couple first choices, but Audrey, she's a gorgeous girl, and I think she's going to look really great.
11:38You will have the chance to see our models very soon again, and that will be tonight, because I'm going to host a little party for you guys tonight.
11:44I thought it was a good idea to start it off nice.
11:45So you guys can relax a little bit tonight and have some fun, because from now on, it will get tough.
11:51You will have the chance to see our models very soon again, and you will have the chance to see our models very soon again, and that will be tonight, because I'm going to host a little party for you guys tonight.
11:59I thought it was a good idea to start it off nice.
12:02So you guys can relax a little bit tonight and have some fun, because from now on, it will get tough.
12:21You have the most gorgeous hair.
12:28Boy, look at you.
12:29All the models were there, and it was really all of the designers' first chance to really interact with the models that they'd chosen.
12:36You worked with Queen Latifah and Eve.
12:40I got to lay down on you guys.
12:43I can't wait until the bitch moments start coming in.
12:46That's going to be my favorite, to be like, bitch just lost her mind.
12:50Oh, bitch is crazy.
12:53The models, they're just all breathtaking to me.
12:55I think they're all really beautiful girls, especially Olga.
12:58That chick is like sex on legs.
13:00She's hot.
13:01The designers want to see the girls walk, so yeah, why don't we?
13:04Right?
13:16All I care about is taking this prize home.
13:22I mean, the other contestants, I'd love to chum it up with all of them, you know, and stay laughing with them all the time.
13:27But I felt that that was going to distract me.
13:30Daniel is not too social.
13:33He's pretty calculated, I think, as far as why he's here.
13:36How are you? How are you? How are you?
13:39Hello, Heidi.
13:41Hello, Heidi.
13:52.
14:02ента Lee King- Are you ready for your first challenge?
14:06This is where we're going to shop.
14:08For the first time, I felt fear.
14:18We met Tim in the morning and he said, let's go shopping.
14:22Our first challenge was to design something glamorous and sexy for a night out on the town.
14:27We sort of headed in the direction of the garment district fabric stores.
14:32And we kept going uptown.
14:34I was asking people who lived in New York, I'm like, have you ever been to any fabric stores up here?
14:42This is our destination.
14:48The supermarket. Indeed.
14:51We show up at this grocery store and for the first time, I felt fear.
14:57I thought we were going to be at this like amazing fabric store with all these like couture fabrics.
15:02Welcome to Gristides, the site of your first challenge.
15:05In Heidi's words yesterday, this challenge is about creating a glamorous outfit for evening and these are your supplies.
15:17Everything that you will use to design and fabricate this challenge must be purchased here. We're not making any other stops.
15:24This is why we're calling this challenge innovation. You must innovate. So be as unconventional as you can be in your thinking and make it work here.
15:35You will each have $50 in this envelope and you will have one hour.
15:40Okay, show us what you've got.
15:42I shop every day of my life. I've never approached a grocery store with fear. I don't know what to do.
15:46Crazy though.
15:57I went off around the supermarket with an open mind, ruling out the obvious. No melons or anything that might go soggy.
16:04Why do they make like home interior stuff in the colors?
16:10I'm done. This is what I'm getting. This is all I need. Maybe if I have money left over, I'll get some extra of this just in case. But yeah, I already have the whole thing planned out.
16:19What's the Q-tips for? For me. I didn't bring any.
16:28I believe that all these materials have their own beautiful spiritual quality.
16:34What are we going to do?
16:39Do you have any ribbon?
16:40I took every last drop of ribbon. I know some of the people are looking for it, but I just took everything.
16:51My main ingredient are the corn husks.
16:55If you think about it, it's really like nature's fabric because it's like a fiber. It even has like a weft and a warp to it almost.
17:03I saw this lounge chair up there and I said, oh my God, that blue lounge chair is freaking fabulous.
17:12How much are these a piece? Do you know?
17:14What do I need?
17:16I got some silver sparkly paper and I was like, oh, that's awesome. I can totally use that.
17:20And then I started looking around for things that would kind of coordinate with it.
17:23Project Runway, you have five minutes.
17:29Attention runway shoppers.
17:32I'm having them right now.
17:35Project Runway, this is it. Check out.
17:39You have 50 for feet.
17:4350 cents. I need 50 cents.
17:46Can I break this in half and then pay for half of it?
17:49I'm a serious designer and I like serious challenges.
17:53This design project, I feel it's going to be no sweat.
18:03Designers, you have from now until midnight tonight.
18:07Tomorrow, you'll have a few hours before the runway judging.
18:10Innovate and go for it, okay?
18:13Okay.
18:14Okay, my fish is getting stinky.
18:15Do you have a freezer here?
18:16I got fish.
18:18Yes, I got fish.
18:22I grabbed a bunch of brown pantyhose and brown socks and I'm going to do a really pretty dress.
18:32I picked some interesting things.
18:33I picked mop heads, which I'm going to plan to make like a Hulu skirt.
18:37Then I bought falafel bread to make like a corset top.
18:41I was basically freaking out.
18:42I'm like, oh no.
18:43What am I going to do?
18:44I have nothing but like this corn husk and like a potato chip bag.
18:48This is the very first competition.
18:49I'm going to like screw it for myself.
18:52My idea was to make this carnival thing.
18:56I'm really using extremely bizarre materials.
18:59I don't know how I'm actually going to make it.
19:01There.
19:02Done.
19:03Mario, shower curtain.
19:04And I'm done.
19:06I'm done already.
19:07I just like draped it around, like tied it together and that's it.
19:08It's like whatever.
19:09Come on, you have a long time still.
19:11Mario is a rebel here.
19:12He's just, I don't care.
19:13I'm doing this.
19:14I'm going to wrap the fabric.
19:15We were all working.
19:16Mario's like sitting on the table, sleeping, taking cigarette breaks.
19:18He doesn't care.
19:19That's his style.
19:21He's very amateurish with no true direction and no sense of purpose or style.
19:24Is Mario smarter than me because he bought a shower curtain and he made it in 15 minutes?
19:25Or is he looking for the easy way out?
19:27Ah!
19:28Ah!
19:29Ah!
19:30Ah!
19:31Ah!
19:32Ah!
19:33Ah!
19:34Ah!
19:35Ah!
19:36Ah!
19:37Ah!
19:38Ah!
19:39Ah!
19:40Ah!
19:41Ah!
19:42Ah!
19:43Ah!
19:44Ah!
19:45Ah!
19:46Ah!
19:47Ah!
19:48Ah!
19:49Ah!
19:50Ah!
19:51Ah!
19:52What is wrong with you?
19:56Don't try this at home, folks.
19:58It takes trained professionals to take one-inch strips of tinfoil and bind a jacket.
20:06Daniel's approach is so, like, Bob Barker.
20:10What do we have next?
20:11We have a fashion challenge and it's going to be great.
20:14Like, ugh.
20:15It makes me, like, want to leave the room.
20:20So what's going on with your design?
20:21Creatively, I'm fine.
20:22But mentally, man, are you feeling the cut-throat-ness of it in there?
20:24Yeah.
20:25It's not pushing through because it's not fabric.
20:26I've been, like, tugging it through.
20:27Half the day I've been spent fussing with this weaving.
20:28I know I'm a good designer and I can do it, but am I an idiot for picking these, like, corn husks?
20:35Now, to keep that together, are you just going to use, like, clear tape on one side?
20:36Austin!
20:37I might just totally redo this.
20:38Austin!
20:39Austin!
20:40Austin!
20:41Austin!
20:42Austin!
20:43No!
20:44Austin!
20:45Austin!
20:46Austin!
20:47I know, but it doesn't look good.
20:48Austin!
20:49Austin!
20:50Austin!
20:51I know, but it doesn't look good.
20:52Okay, you know why?
20:53You just don't like it right now because, look, you have so much around it and it's not clean.
20:54Yeah, but first of all, I'd have to, like, weave an even bigger piece to make a whole bodice.
20:58I do tend to, like, get myself into these, like, over-elaborate projects and end up, like, you know, screwing myself in the end.
21:07Coming up on Project Runway.
21:08Today is the D-Day.
21:09I know.
21:10Today is the funeral.
21:11Everybody else's model was dressed and my model's not here.
21:14If she doesn't come, that would be the model's me.
21:15Go to the street and go get a model.
21:16I know.
21:17I know.
21:18I know.
21:19I know.
21:20I know.
21:21I know.
21:22I know.
21:23I know.
21:24I know.
21:25I know.
21:26I know.
21:27I know.
21:28I know.
21:29I know.
21:30I know.
21:31I know.
21:32I know.
21:33I know.
21:34I know.
21:35I know.
21:36I know.
21:47We were given a challenge to make a sexy outfit for a night on the town.
21:51I used butcher paper for the jacket, but it was a great color.
21:54It reminded me of a suede or even, like, a taffeta.
21:58I felt that it was stylish compared to Star.
22:02I don't think that she has enough experience as a designer to realize that you need style.
22:08I'm really terrified that I'm going to be the one to go home just because my dress
22:13is really gaudy and I'm feeling like it's pretty disgusting.
22:19Yeah.
22:20You ever have?
22:21enough girls?
22:22You and your shoes.
22:23The dress?
22:24Yes.
22:25Now you're dressed, and at least you should sit down today.
22:26You're not residence.
22:27Yeah.
22:29Thank you very much.
22:30Thanks, so my wife has been doing it.
22:31Oh, I'm good.
22:32So what's up with this dress?
22:33You wanna make this?
22:35Well regardless?
22:36With this.
22:37I don't want to, and we either do a laundry disaster story and no matter what you
22:40Does she know what's going on Vanessa I've got so excited about putting on this black stuff everywhere
22:48that I kind of lost the shape doesn't need to be full-length no but I just I've done all this work
22:55on it I know but sometimes you have to let it go my heart just started studying I really just
23:04didn't want to look stupid on the runway maybe I'll make some little flowers or something you
23:10just have a lot of work to do I know go on go see the next person let me finish Daniel okay you've
23:18made great progress thank you Tim I am great progress I'm in viewing the spirits of Picasso
23:24and Marcel Duchamp my theory is that anyone could be elegant at any time if they just apply themselves
23:30and basically applying themselves me to stop thinking find the purity in the in the design
23:35in the garment this is seduction about Daniel when you're within about three feet of him you get into
23:41his orbit and you believe but then when you step back you look at what he's done you ask yourself
23:46what is that is this looking too much like butcher paper it is butcher paper I can't be helped so I
23:53hate to cut this short Tim but I got to get back to it thank you so much all right I love how Daniel
23:59just brushed Tim off saying that listen Tim I gotta get back to work man you know I'm sorry you know

24:48luckily tomorrow we have a couple hours which is I think just the amount of time I'll need to pull it
25:02all together since I've been here I've had this opportunity to just really think about what I'm doing with my life I mean I certainly have a lot of abilities as
25:28a lawyer but I'm learning so much and really would like to stay as long as possible
25:33I know someone's going home today it makes me very very sad notice how I'm wearing all black

26:17doing whatever you need to do to your garment your models will go to the L'Oreal hair and makeup rooms to get
26:22prepped for the show okay great make it work the morning of was pretty hectic everybody's running
26:36around doing their own thing it's a lot of pressure Austin having not refrigerated this produce the
26:50corn husk had shrunk they were now corn chips at least there isn't any additional shrinkage I was
27:01definitely worried I had a lot of things to work out I just didn't know how I was going to finish it

30:03welcome to the runway where your first challenge will be judged
30:18everyone knows that the fashion business is ruthless one day you're in and the
30:24next day you're out today one designer will be selected as the winner of this
30:29challenge and one of you will be out this week's challenge was about innovation and we will
30:40judge you on your use of unconventional materials now let's meet the judges we
30:47have Michael Kors who's one of the most influential designers in America Nina
30:54Garcia is the fashion director for the top-selling Elle magazine
31:01our guest judge for today's Patricia field we all know her from dressing the
31:05beautiful girls on sex in the city we will be scoring your designs as they come
31:10down the runway let's start the show
31:24my corn dress started to shrivel and dry up and it didn't look very good I am nervous that I may be eliminated
31:47the stakes for me are huge because if I do well I am gonna have a better chance of realizing my dream of being a real fashion designer who can really deliver the goods on all levels
32:06I actually didn't watch the judges when my model walks so I have no idea how they responded to it I didn't have any confidence in myself or in my design
32:25if these people remotely have an eye for creativity then they won't eliminate me
32:55when it comes down to it it's who can walk the best and Morgan can walk regardless if she's late or tragic or whatever's going on in her life she can walk
33:14I'm not out to flash the judges I want to wow them with great concept design
33:43you know not like glitter on the runway
33:50I had innovation in the cut of the jacket
33:55I had innovation in tailoring the butcher paper
33:58I know the designs of Michael Kors I read Elle magazine a lot
34:01I know what they're looking for
34:10I feel really confident with the dress it's a look that I wanted to go for and seriously I don't care if I get eliminated I don't compromise my art
34:33I want to ask all 12 designers to please come on the stage
34:48we've tallied your scores
35:01if I say your name
35:03I want you to please step forward
35:06Kevin
35:09alexandra
35:16Mario
35:18Jay
35:19Cara
35:23and Robert
35:26Robert.
35:30The judges are looking up at you, and you have no idea how they voted, and it is excruciating.
35:38I had a prediction of who I thought was going to go, so I was in that group and I'm like,
35:42ah, .
35:44None of you are out.
35:46Your scores have qualified you to stay in for the next challenge.
35:50You may leave the runway.
35:54When they said, you know, you're safe for the next round, you couldn't see it, but I just wanted to jump off the stage and say, you know, just scream.
36:03The six of you that remain had the highest and the lowest scores.
36:10We will ask you questions on your designs.
36:13The judges will deliberate, and one of you will be named the winner.
36:17The winner will have immunity for the next challenge and cannot be eliminated next week.
36:23And one of you will be out.
36:28I'm just so nervous, I can't even think.
36:32There I was, probably in the three of the worst category.
36:37Just the thought of being the first ones at home really was horrible.
36:52The six of you represent the best and the worst.
36:57Let's bring back your models.
37:01Patricia, do you want to start?
37:06Austin, you know, you're a corn dress.
37:10Did you boil the corn leaves and sculpt them from a soft condition?
37:15Basically, I shocked all the fresh corn and I put it together fresh.
37:21It dried out.
37:23I'm hoping, I'm praying, the judges will take into consideration that I use something organic.
37:30Wendy, what were you thinking?
37:33Because I see very little clothes.
37:36Um, I met my model and she said she was from Brazil.
37:41All right, I get it.
37:42So you are going to Rio.
37:44I just wish I would have seen more clothes.
37:50Vanessa, I wanted to ask you about your inspiration.
37:54My inspiration was Cajun, but it doesn't look very Cajun.
37:57Because it's supposed to have mini lobsters.
38:00What are they called?
38:01Crawfish, right.
38:02And they were going to be trapped in the net.
38:04But it really didn't need them.
38:06So, do you wear black a lot?
38:08I love black.
38:09But women love black.
38:10You know, even though I'm sitting here wearing black, you're wearing black,
38:13I would have loved to have seen more color.
38:15Somehow, the crawfish, I have a feeling, would have not smelled fabulously.
38:19But they really would have done something.
38:21Daniel, can we see what is underneath the dress?
38:25Please do.
38:28This jacket, I made a pattern first because I only had a limited amount of this butcher paper,
38:33which I got for free from the store.
38:35And it took me a long time to make this binding, which is a tin foil.
38:38And I tried to give it the best treatment that I could for the amount of time that we had.
38:43Nora, I think you did an amazing job.
38:46I think it's interesting, it's innovative, and at the same time, it's actually kind of wearable.
38:54Yeah, I think it's great.
38:56I think it's really, it's terrific.
38:58We have not heard so much about your star.
39:00Do you want to explain a little bit what you were thinking?
39:03My initial inspiration was an ironing board cover, which is this part here.
39:10And I liked the color.
39:12And then I really like this wrapping paper, especially when it's crinkled.
39:19I don't really know how wearable it is.
39:22I want to ask all the designers and models to please leave the stage.
39:27I'm going to have a little chat with my judges.
39:37What's the worst thing?
39:38What are you worried about the most?
39:40Going home.
39:41Going home.
39:42You're not going to go home.
39:44You're not going to go home.
39:47A lot of them, they started adding things onto things onto things.
39:52It was like one of these.
39:53Yeah, rather than one concept.
39:55Exactly.
39:56The bikini, the candy.
39:57There were no clothes.
39:58There was no clothes.
39:59That's my pet peeve.
40:00There are no clothes.
40:01But it was happy.
40:02When I got to Daniel, I was just like, oh my God.
40:05Like garbage bag couture again.
40:07It was like, what's the easiest thing and boring thing I could do?
40:10I didn't like stars either.
40:11I think it was like totally expected.
40:14Get some tin foil.
40:15Tin foil and make a party dress.
40:16It's like the garbage bag dress.
40:33In fashion, it's all about what's in and what's out.
40:36And we have made our decision.
40:43Vanessa, you're in.
40:45You can leave the runway.
40:52Nora, you're in.
41:02Wendy, you're in.
41:03You can leave the runway.
41:06There are three of you left.
41:11One of you will be the winner.
41:14And one of you will be out.
41:23But the winner is Austin.
41:25To choose corn husks showed true innovation.
41:28Thank you all.
41:29Thank you very, very much.
41:33Austin, that means that you're safe for the next challenge.
41:38It was really wonderful.
41:39Probably, you know, one of my most wonderful moments of my life.
41:43You can leave the runway.
41:45Daniel and Star, one of you must go.
41:52Daniel, we felt you didn't challenge yourself enough.
41:53Your choice of materials and design were far too simple.
42:01Star, you weren't innovative enough with your materials or design.
42:07You need to show us a better concept.
42:08Star, you're still in.
42:10But you just barely made it.
42:12You can leave the runway.
42:33made it you can leave the runway
42:40and that means Daniel is out
42:45good luck
42:52pretty pretty shocked
42:57didn't expect that
43:00wish you the very best
43:05thank you
43:05you too
43:06I was disappointed
43:14but if you believe in theatrics
43:17then there are a lot of designers for you to choose from
43:19however
43:21you know if you believe in honor
43:23dignity, integrity
43:25if you believe in artistic credence
43:27and if you believe in artistic honesty
43:29and if you believe in following your bliss
43:32then I'm Daniel Franco
43:33and I'd like to wish you bliss

43:54it's all about envy
43:55people are starting to get paranoid
43:57and delusional
