00:01Previously on Project Runway...
00:03Michael's going to present you with your next challenge.
00:05You know, one of the things that's so exciting to see is how are designers inspired.
00:09I'm definitely taking a risk here.
00:11I mean, his dress looks like an Amish woman would wear.
00:14You have this beautiful neck piece, but then there is no dress.
00:22Irina, you are the winner of this challenge. You gave us a majorly luxe look.
00:27Nicolas, you sadly missed the mark.
00:29I think you got the wrong grease. I think you got grease the movie with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.
00:34I'm sorry, Nicolas. That means you're out.
00:40This is Project Runway.
00:42Of course I'm the best.
00:43The search for the next big fashion designer.
00:45I have to win. I'm in, you're out.
00:48I'm the best designer here.
00:50I have no fear.
00:51Make it work.
00:52That's my one.
00:53This is my dream.
00:54For these 16 designers, Project Runway is the chance of a lifetime.
00:58The winner of Project Runway will receive a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine.
01:03A Paris vacation courtesy of Avion and $100,000 from L'Oreal Paris to start their own line.
01:10Six left.
01:18Two boys.
01:19How did that happen?
01:20I don't know.
01:21At this point in the competition, there's six of us left so I really feel like it's time for all of us to step outside of our comfort zone.
01:28I've really put out pieces that I like.
01:29Yup.
01:30But I've got to get the judges to get it.
01:34During this whole process, you know, I've been all over the place.
01:38Congratulations, congratulations.
01:39Great work.
01:40Good work.
01:41Fantastic.
01:42Stunning.
01:43Now, sucky.
01:44We hate it.
01:45We hate you.
01:46You're fat.
01:47Even though Bryant Park is just a couple challenges away, it still feels like it's the moon.
01:56I kind of like that there's so many more girls and boys now.
01:59It's nice because I feel like the fashion business is so dominated by men.
02:03Yeah.
02:04And that sucks because I think women have a very valid point, especially when it comes to dressing women.
02:10Themselves, yeah.
02:11You know?
02:12Right now, I feel like the strongest designers are myself, Irina, and Carol Hanna.
02:19I think that Logan and Christopher, they've shown repeatedly they're, you know, can't be at the top of this competition.
02:26And I think Jordana as well.
02:28At this point, the judges know that we all can make clothes.
02:31Right.
02:32Now we have really to show our imagination as a designer.
02:36Yeah.
02:37I need to show the judges I can make more than dresses because pretty much all I've done here is dresses and that's my thing, so that's good.
02:45But it's kind of time to really do something for runway.
02:49You ready?
02:50Yeah.
02:51You guys sound like twins.
02:52That's a compliment.
02:53Aww.
02:54I want to get to work.
02:55Let's do it.
02:56Yeah.
03:02We are doing something very unusual.
03:05Ugh.
03:06We are facing away from the runway, which we've never done before.
03:11You hear this rustling and you have no idea what's going on.
03:15Oh, my God.
03:16It's one of the most horrifying moments.
03:20Hello.
03:21Hi.
03:22Designers, you can turn around.
03:23Hey, Heidi.
03:26We turn around and our winning looks are on stage.
03:30And my first thought is, oh, gosh, I hope we don't want to cut them up because I really don't want to.
03:37Well, as you can see here, you have proven your talent time and time again.
03:42And this is just a reminder of some of your best moments on the runway.
03:46Well, your challenge is to create a companion piece that complements and enhances your best look.
03:55Ugh.
03:56I hated sitting there and seeing all the other designers winning looks.
04:02Mine was the only one up there that wasn't a winning look.
04:05But I'm glad that the judges chose that piece for me to work with off the first challenge.
04:10This is a chance for me to really prove something.
04:13Tim is waiting for you in the workroom to fill you in on all the details.
04:17And I'm going to see you on the runway.
04:19Good luck.
04:20Bye.
04:21Bye.
04:22I definitely think this challenge is going to point out where the real talent is and where, like, the sort of lucky wins were.
04:30I just think there are a few people that are still here that should have gone home.
04:43But we're looking at the job.
04:44I'm going to go to the top right now.
04:45Hello, designers.
04:46Hey, Tim.
04:47You have 30 minutes to sketch.
04:50Afterwards, we're going shopping at Mood, where you will have a budget of $100.
04:54And you have until midnight tonight to complete your look.
04:58So get ready.
05:00It gets harder and harder.
05:02Your 30 minutes to sketch will start right now.
05:04Okay?
05:05Thank you, everyone.
05:06everyone. The challenge is to create a new look that is based on your best look. My first look
05:14has a paper bag waist and it's a shorter skirt and I want to take that paper bag waist and put
05:19it on a pair of pants and the jacket of the first look is a play off a man's jacket and what I want
05:26to do with that is really make it big. I do really like to play with volume as a designer and I don't
05:32know if I've gotten to do that a whole lot in this competition. I'm happy to be working with the
05:38Aspen look because you kind of have to do a second look that complements your first look but it has
05:43to be completely different. So that's sort of how you build a collection. My winning look is the
05:50divorcee challenge. It's kind of like an edgy look and I'm imagining some kind of blazer on top and
06:00a pants but I'm still deciding on the pants part. This challenge more than any of the others we
06:07really have to take our own inspiration and take it to the next level. My winning look was a shorter
06:14dress and I find that my strengths are actually gowns and so I'm given the opportunity to create
06:22a long version of the original dress and do a different spin on it. All right designers your
06:29sketching time is up let's head off to Mood. All right everybody you have a hundred dollar budget
06:39and you have 30 minutes to shop. For me it all begins and ends right here. All right so your 30
06:46minutes begins now. Go go go. What do I need? My original concept for my design is taking some of
06:57the zippers that were in my previous garment and just multiplying that up. That sir is a zipper.
07:03I purchased 40 zippers. Wow. She's just gonna have trims and bits and pieces all over it. The first
07:09thing in my head is to find the exact same metallic satin that I use for the top but this thought
07:15occurs in my head. Change it up a little bit. This is pretty. Get this. I dig through and I find this
07:21silver version of the same material so I decide to get 30 yards. I'm gonna go big. I'm gonna go huge.
07:30Three yards? Yes. So I'm at Mood. I know exactly what I want to get and then I spot this like really
07:36gorgeous fabric. Designers you have 15 minutes remaining. So I decide to swap the skirt fabric.
07:4315 minutes everybody. I'm actually gonna do a dress instead. Yeah. That's fine. What kind of fabric?
07:49It doesn't really matter as long as it looks really rich. My winning look had a lot of feathers
07:53and a lot of sequins and I decided to avoid both of those completely. I want to do something that
08:00connects to it but isn't like here's another look made out of the same crap. I'm gonna take this out
08:04between a dress and like a separates combo. Let me ask you this. What will sustain you
08:12throughout the course of the day? I'm not really a pants person but I haven't made anything else.
08:17In order to take some risks and really be uber creative with this you need to be in something
08:23of a comfort zone. Okay. And if you're out of your zone it's not gonna happen for you I'm afraid.
08:28Okay. All right. Does that help? That helps a lot. That helps a ton. Go. Go. Go. Go. Five minutes. Thank you.
08:35You have six dollars to spend. Okay.
08:40One yard please. Time's up. That's it. Okay. How much did you have left over? Like pennies?
08:4650 cents. I told you guys I'm good at spending money. Thank you Mood. Thank you Mood.
08:58My concept is still developing. You always do this. You always like know exactly what you're
09:07doing and you're just like and I like lay things out and like do nothing for like an hour.
09:13I have too many ideas so I'm kind of trying to wrap my brain around all these things and
09:18figure out exactly what I want to do. Coffee. Right now I'm really working with a pattern of
09:27the fabric placing it in a way that's like flattering to a woman's body. My first look
09:32is about a woman who is like an Aspen and she's you know sipping a glass of champagne at
09:37the lodge. The second look is about work. Not to say it's like an office look but it's
09:43definitely a bit more sort of clean and polished.
09:46Is that enough shape do you think or should I do more? I like it. Cause it makes them like
09:53not just black pants. Yeah. My game plan is I want to get my pants in first. Yeah cause
09:58look at my sketches so much more. They're sort of the most tailored part of my look and I
10:03really want these to be you know just perfect. They look like Malvin pants. I'm going to do a
10:09pair of jog first like chicken thighs. No. Don't tell me that. It's not bad. Yeah we got eliminated on the
10:17pants. Don't tell me that. Don't be sensitive. Now you're going to give her a heart attack. Please.
10:23It's really so sensitive. I feel that there is a new energy and there is a new tension a little
10:32bit now. We are so close to the top three that everybody is even more careful now. They don't
10:39want to really mess it up. Everybody is nervous because nobody wants to go home.
10:45Coming up on project. Right now it looks like it's waiting for a diaper. I look over and
10:58Logan's collar is like completely has a zipper thing. Now it's stealing ideas. Oh what a disaster.
11:05So fast.
11:15Figured it out yet? Working on it. Now more than ever the pressure's on. One of us is going home and
11:26it's not one out of 15, 14, 10. It's one out of six. Looking around the room I've got five other
11:34designers that I'm competing against but my chances to get to Bryant Park I feel are good just because
11:41I'm showing a different point of view. Just coming from Idaho it's kind of a different thing you know.
11:47I'll go out and work on my car and get my hands greasy and then start making a dress. So it's kind
11:52of this best of both worlds. Oh being top six is unbelievable especially with my humble starting.
12:00I'm from Bosnia but I'm like a Bosnian Serb. My village is on the border between Serbia and Bosnia.
12:07My parents have no education. They're just farmers and to be where I am today it's just something unbelievable.
12:18I can't decide where things need to go. I feel like these fight each other.
12:22Depends on what you're trying to do though. Right now my look is in that weird stage right before you
12:28fully commit to what you're doing. You really just want to make it right. Too many options.
12:34But that's so hard when you're this close to Bryant Park. I'm going to commit. I think.
12:42This is an opportunity for the judges to see our true personalities and I think when my garment
12:49walks down the runway they're going to look at it and go that's a Christopher piece.
12:55Christopher goes out and buys 30 yards of lining which is kind of his signature for a lot of the
13:03challenges is just volume volume volume. How's your white mountain? Mountainous. I don't know if the
13:09judges are sick of it yet but some of the fabrics that he buys just look cheap to me. 30 yards.
13:16I don't know what he's doing.
13:23Hi designers. Hi Tim. I'm here to check in with you. Carol Hannah. Hello. How are you? That doesn't
13:30sound good. Talk to me. I feel like it's a big scary mess. You're not going to get an argument from me.
13:36No. I hate to tell you. And there's a lot of crap on it right now because I'm just like
13:41sticking things on here but I really like this fabric and I think it the color is really cool.
13:47What happens if this is under that? That's cool. It's beautiful. Now you have a fabulous textile
13:54happening. Yay. All right. You just had a major breakthrough with this. Okay. I'm gonna make some
13:59magic. Make magic is right. All right. Thank you. Thank you. So Irina. Oh yeah. I'm good. Talk to me. I was
14:08gonna do a skirt and a top and then as I was checking out I found this fabric. It's like a
14:14tapestry almost. It is. So I decided to do a really full voluminous sweater to go with like a tiny
14:21sort of dress. Well Irina I will say this. It is completely unexpected. In a good way? Yeah. Okay. But
14:31you need this cardigan. I do. I think it makes it younger and it makes it more playful. I agree. I'm
14:38very excited about where this can go. Thank you. Thank you, Tim. Christopher. Tim. Talk to me. All
14:45right. This was my wedding look. It's fabulous still. Thank you. And so I'm trying to revisit that.
14:50Instead of just covering the whole piece in the texture it's just going to be around the bottom here
14:55and kind of just a little couple pieces kind of coming up. Can I show you my thoughts? Yes, please.
15:01This is youthful, vibrant, sexy. For me this looks like her mother.
15:11This doesn't go as well as planned. And in terms of those appliques I think you have to rethink the
15:17positioning of them. You have a lot of work to do. I know and not a lot of time. No. All right. So I'm
15:23going to leave you alone. All right. Thank you, Tim. Thank you, Christopher. I appreciate it.
15:26Althea. Hey. How are you? I really am looking forward to my model fitting because I sort of have
15:34the pants together but it's all about proportion on Tanisha. I'm concerned about the transition from
15:41the tight fit at the bottom. Yeah. To the volume up at the waistline because right now it looks like
15:47it's waiting for a diaper. I know the pants are a bit scary right now but I do have a ton of
15:53confidence in them. I have confidence in you. I have confidence in you too. Because the sketch
15:57is stunning. And if you can pull that off I can see everybody wanting to have it. Yeah. All right,
16:02Althea. Move forward. Cool. Thank you. Thank you. Logan, I'm excited already. Talk to me. So my main
16:09inspiration off of this piece is just to kind of take the color palette and the zippers and just
16:15turn up the volume. That's what you're supposed to do. I'm using all the zippers for the collar.
16:20Just I think they'll be a cool like glitz as soon as the lights hit it on the runway. So I look over
16:26and Logan's collar is like completely has a zipper thing which is like the same collar that I did in
16:33the Christina Aguilera challenge. This is the heaviest collar known to man. I was a little annoyed but
16:40I personally liked how I used it better anyway so. All right, you still have a lot of work to do.
16:44There's a lot of requirement but this is definitely in the wow category. Thank you, Logan. Thank you, Tim.
16:51Jordana, talk to me. This is my inspiration. It's a little bit rock and roll. It's a little bit
16:58industrial. So how are you finishing the edges? I'm actually, I like the edges like this. You do?
17:05Yeah, I like it like that. I like to fit, you know, it's so feminine and then I like the roughness of it.
17:10Well, then you have to just stand by that as being a major force in the whole direction of this design.
17:16And I mean, I'm going to tell you, you're taking risks. I applaud that. So stand by it.
17:35All right. Thank you, Jordana. Thank you, Tim.
17:50Designers, I just want to tell you that I am tremendously excited about the potential that
17:56each of you is demonstrating. And I am very mindful of the fact that after tomorrow's runway show,
18:03there will only be five of you. So, you have until midnight tonight. Use your time exceedingly
18:11well. And I'm going to send in your models for a fitting right now.
18:15Hi. Hi. Thank you, man.
18:18How are you?
18:20Okay. So, you're so cute.
18:22What we're going to do first is get you fitted into this.
18:25Okay. All right. Get naked. Get naked.
18:27All right. It's cool so far. And I know that it's not even here, Dad.
18:32Yeah, true. It started like 10 minutes ago.
18:38Yeah, this needs to be cut down, though, for sure.
18:40Is it too tight? It is a little tight.
18:42Go, go, go, go, go, go.
18:44Christopher's dress. What are you going to say about it other than,
18:47why is one dress throwing up the other?
18:50Arms up.
18:50Oh, I'm so annoyed. Do you remember our jacket with the zippers on the collar?
19:04Yeah.
19:05Low and stir, all zippers on the collar.
19:07I'm like, I'm so pissed. Just because, like, why is he even here?
19:13He's never had one look that's been the top three.
19:15He's number one.
19:16And he came down, he's, like, stealing ideas.
19:21He's so annoying. He thinks because he's, like, cute, he can do whatever the
19:24. I'm, like, really annoyed.
19:26Oh, my goodness.
19:27Okay, we'll see you later. Bye, girl.
19:35Done thinking. Now I'm going to work.
19:38Time is not on my side.
19:40For hours and hours and hours, I'm going to create my flowers.
19:43I'm going to hand apply them to the black overdress.
19:46Keep in mind that when I did the first dress,
19:48it took me eight hours to sew on all of those petals.
19:53I'm getting a little worried.
19:55I think a lot of designers have to worry.
19:57Usually, you know, I could pick out, like, one or two that I think might be in trouble.
20:01But at this point, now that I have a minute to see what everybody else did,
20:06I think a lot of them should be worried.
20:09There's just no way for me to, like, get in between these zippers.
20:15Oh, what a disaster.
20:17Let's go home.
20:18All right.
20:22Nightmare.
20:23Coming up on Project Runway.
20:26This is it.
20:27Who's taking all this stuff off the machines?
20:30Irina has the nickname Mina Irina for a reason.
20:33You're supposed to get inspiration from your own look, not from mine.
20:37There's definitely pressure with only six OS.
20:47I have one more challenge after this runway show.
20:50So, Bryan Park is getting closer and closer, and that's the ultimate goal.
20:54And that's kind of where my head is.
20:55So, who's finished with their look?
20:57I want to do, like, some shaping of the skirt.
21:00I have to magically make up a skirt and make sure it fits and tack down the straps and pick out hair and makeup.
21:09No pressure.
21:10You finished, Rodana?
21:11I'm almost, but I like to tweak, like Tim says.
21:16Even if I'm on the bottom too, if I'm pushing my design and pushing my point of view, that's fine.
21:21Kick your ass.
21:22You're done as a kung fu mom.
21:27You want to see me in action, girl?
21:29Let's go to FIDM.
21:32Ready?
21:32Yep.
21:35You're welcome.
21:45I still have a lot to do.
21:46I still have about 100 petals to put on my dress, and I have to finish the skirt
21:51to the final fitting, and I want to add this neck piece.
21:54When she turns around, there's going to be this finished look.
21:59Well, good morning.
22:02Panicky.
22:05You're panicking right now?
22:06No, I just feel the pressure.
22:08You should.
22:09You should, too.
22:11Stop it.
22:12I know that.
22:13We all know it.
22:17Gosh, this thing takes so long.
22:19This morning, the only real problem that I'm encountering is the sweater has to be completely
22:26hand sewn, and I'm running out of time, so I have to base the bottom.
22:31Sometimes you gotta just bite the bullet and do what you can.
22:34Oh, no.
22:35Do you have a hook and eye?
22:36Yeah, if you want to check in my bag.
22:42Did you find it?
22:44Not yet.
22:46Irina, do you have a hook and eye?
22:48I don't know.
22:49I'm here to design, not make friends.
22:52We are at the point in the competition where, you know, helping out your fellow designer is kind of tough.
22:57When I want something, usually I get it.
22:59It's all worth it for me in the end if you reach your goal.
23:02Who's taking all this stuff off the machines?
23:05Seriously?
23:06I'm gonna kill someone.
23:09Irina has the nickname Mina Irina for a reason.
23:12I wish the judges would come down on her for something just to kind of humble her a little bit
23:17because she's kind of on a high horse at this point.
23:20Good morning, designers.
23:21Good morning.
23:22I'm about to send in your models.
23:23You will have an hour to send them to the Garnier hair studio and the L'Oreal Paris makeup room.
23:28When you're putting your final look together, use the Macy's accessory wall thoughtfully.
23:33All right?
23:34Sending in your girls.
23:45Oh, that's so cute.
23:47Carolina's little dress.
23:48I'm kind of annoyed because I'm like, when is she not going to do a dress?
23:50I think Carol Hanna is a really strong designer, but she's never done pants or a jacket,
23:56and I'm really surprised the judges haven't labeled her a one-trick pony.
24:02I like my dress.
24:03I'm happy with the design.
24:04It's just, at this point, being happy doesn't mean not nervous.
24:13Accentuate the shape of her eye.
24:14Like a smoky eye.
24:15I think Tinkerbell.
24:23Tinkerbell, the fairy.
24:24A little bit.
24:29All right, designers.
24:30In 10 minutes, you and your models and I are going to the runway.
24:3410 minutes.
24:35I like this challenge.
24:38It's going to showcase that even though I am 44, I can still create fashion that's younger.
24:44That looks really edgy.
24:45I think that Jordana is taking this challenge a bit too literal just by using a really similar
24:51technique that she used for the wedding challenge.
24:53It reminds me of my grandma's couch.
24:55My grandma has better taste than that, actually.
24:57This is how they dressed in the olden days.
24:59Right?
25:00I've gone as far as I can with the money and the time and the challenge.
25:04I've been battered a couple of times by the judges, but I keep making it through to the next round.
25:10I'm meant to be here.
25:12I think people are getting inspired from other people's works, but I don't know how conscious it is.
25:17I was a little frustrated with Logan because of the collar, but I don't think I'm going to say anything.
25:22Althea is whining about Logan copying her collar zipper idea.
25:27Meanwhile, she's copying my previous look, the Aspen look.
25:30Are you insane or are you drunk?
25:32You're supposed to get inspiration from your own look, not from mine.
25:37Designers and models.
25:39This is it.
25:40We are walking to the runway right now.
25:43Let's go, go, go.
25:44At this point, I have no idea if I'm in the top or bottom.
25:47They like it.
25:48They're going to love it.
25:49If they don't, I went a little too far.
25:51That's it.
25:53We're out.
25:54Coming up on Project Runway.
25:56This didn't work at all.
25:58I think it's so unflattering.
25:59Who had the first idea of these big sweater jackets?
26:02It was my original sketch.
26:03I definitely don't feel like I was influenced.
26:06I'm shocked.
26:13Hello.
26:15Welcome to the runway.
26:17As you know, in fashion, one day you're in and the next day you're out.
26:21There's six of you here and after tonight, there will be five.
26:26This week you used your own success as a starting point.
26:30We asked each of you to create a companion look that complements and enhances one of your best designs from a previous challenge.
26:38You had $100 and one day for this challenge.
26:43And I really look forward to seeing what you've done this week.
26:45All right.
26:46Let's meet the judges.
26:47First, we have instructor at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and Project Runway alumni,
26:53Nick Marios, fashion director for Marie Claire Magazine, Nina Garcia, and actress and one of the faces of L'Oreal, the ever fashionable Kerry Washington.
27:07Who will score your designs as they come down the runway?
27:09One of you will be named the winner and one of you will be out.
27:14Let's start the show.
27:20I like my dress.
27:21I'm happy with the way that it relates back to the winning look.
27:25And I love the pockets and I think it's really fun.
27:36I think my look does look really fashion forward.
27:41Of course, I've got Tunisia where it looks good.
27:45She always walks so good.
27:47I'm definitely feeling very confident.
27:50As Koji comes down the runway, I'm excited.
28:01I think that it's something that you don't see every day.
28:04So I think that the judges will be kind of surprised of what I did.
28:11Seeing my look come down the runway, I really loved my collar and the sweater jacket.
28:16I think that is my favorite part about it.
28:20I think that is my favorite part about it.
28:24Kaelin is working my look.
28:25She looks really hot in it.
28:32I love the look that I have created.
28:37I know that maybe now we don't see that many long jackets, but we will.
28:42So I'm very confident in what I have created.
28:50The judges let us know that it's time to step it up.
28:55My designs have been stepped up the whole time.
29:00I don't feel like I did anything safe or simple.
29:03I really pushed it.
29:04There are only six of you remaining, so we're going to talk to all of you today.
29:15All right, Christopher, tell us about your look.
29:17Well, my winning look that I used to create this was the red carpet look.
29:23And I had done some textural elements.
29:24And what I did to bring that into this piece was I used some of the same petal work.
29:29Also, I did a graduated piecing to the petals where they start smaller and get larger as they go down.
29:36Nina, what do you think?
29:37I think that in terms of the proportion, this didn't work at all.
29:42It's so bottom heavy.
29:44It almost looks like she's carnival float.
29:47There's a pretty gown in there.
29:49I think that you could have used some editing in terms of using all that stuff.
29:52I think the top part of it is really beautiful.
29:55But the bottom is a little bit you took the bed skirt with you.
29:58I don't think that the bedspreads are necessarily horrible.
30:02I just think it's two different gowns.
30:05And that the worlds kind of don't blend with each other.
30:07There's nothing that unifies both dresses that are there.
30:11Irina, tell us about your look.
30:16Um, my look has, you know, the same spirit of my Aspen look,
30:20except that it's like an evening look.
30:22It's something she'd probably wear to, like, dinner or a cocktail party,
30:26or, you know, something that's a little bit more festive.
30:29I wrote down very uptown chic.
30:32She just looked like a former Russian model who just married a millionaire.
30:37I really love this look.
30:39I could totally see my stylist yelling at me before leaving the house, you know,
30:43like, make sure you get pictures with the sweater,
30:44and then take the sweater off and do pictures.
30:46It's really elegant, and yet it's also cozy.
30:50It's definitely, you know, something I would make a call about if I saw on the runway.
30:55I think the coat of color is locked.
30:59The shape is, you know, brilliant.
31:03What I have a real problem with is the tight brocade dress underneath.
31:07It looks cheap.
31:08Nina's the only one today that didn't like this, because I liked it too.
31:12So you have three for one today.
31:14I actually liked it.
31:15I thought for $100 in one day, you've done a great job.
31:19Jordana, tell us about your look.
31:21My original dress was edgy, so I took the inspiration of the edginess.
31:28I wanted some elegant silhouette.
31:30That's why I added some leather pieces to the jacket.
31:33So your first look was edgy, so you decided to make this look not edgy.
31:39Well, kind of edgy, but with an elegant silhouette.
31:42I don't think this is fun, fashionable, beautiful at all.
31:47The same with what you've done to this beautiful girl.
31:50Her hair, she just looks old and drab and sad.
31:54It doesn't feel strong.
31:56It feels very passive to me.
31:58As opposed to making a statement, it just kind of almost doesn't want to be noticed.
32:04I think between the collar and the darts and the length of that jacket,
32:09it makes the look a little dated.
32:13It looks like an office worker in Warsaw, Poland.
32:16It is not.
32:17It's a little, I mean.
32:18I mean, you had such a youthful, beautiful dress before and then this.
32:21I'm shocked.
32:22I like it, so I'm sorry.
32:27Carol Hanna, tell us about your look.
32:29My winning look was from the Christina Aguilera and Bob Mackie challenge.
32:35My previous piece had a lot of texture in it and I wanted to kind of play off of that.
32:39I think the simplicity makes the dress kind of delicious.
32:43And the color is really beautiful.
32:45She reminded me of like Ava Gardner.
32:48I love the lightness.
32:50You know what added to the attitude of lightness were the pockets.
32:54I really liked having the pockets.
32:57It was really fun.
32:59Okay, Logan, tell us about your look.
33:00The look could be in the same collection, but this would be more of kind of a pow,
33:05like wow piece.
33:06I know that it's on the brink of costume.
33:09But I think that you could still see it maybe at the VMAs with Pink wearing it or something like that.
33:16What do you think, Nina?
33:19It just looks like a, you know, fashion project from a student.
33:23Your ideas are there, but the shapes are not right.
33:26I think it's so unflattering.
33:28Looks 80s to me.
33:30It does scream a little bit Judy Jetson.
33:33Yeah, no, it has a futuristic feel that for me was a little distracting.
33:39Athea, tell us about your look.
33:41The look I was going off of was a suiting look that had a paper bag waist.
33:45And I think really overall it's similar with both looks.
33:48It's just the ease and sort of casualness of the look.
33:52While still having a tailored, well-made, nice garment.
33:56I want it.
33:58I love the pants.
34:00Fabulous.
34:00I think they're genius those pants.
34:03Yeah, I think the sweater's gorgeous.
34:05I think the sweater's just gorgeous.
34:08Now, who had the first idea of these big arena or you?
34:12Were you guys looking at each other?
34:13Who has kind of like these big sweaters?
34:16Yeah, well, we sketch completely different.
34:19I mean, I had, this was in my original sketch, and I'm sure hers was in her original sketch.
34:22Well, I just do the knit in my previous look.
34:25There has been a little bit of, you know, resemblance of things in the workroom.
34:31That was sort of surprising to me.
34:32Sometimes that happens though when you're put together in a room.
34:35How do you not realize it when it's like six people in a room?
34:39You know, it's not like 20.
34:40It was my original sketch.
34:42I didn't see that and then changed the sweater.
34:44You know what I mean?
34:45Did she look like that?
34:46No, but I love this look.
34:47I think it is a great look.
34:48And I love the proportion.
34:49You know, this kind of big, oversized, comfortable, easy.
34:55You can totally communicate what you're going for.
34:58So I liked it.
35:00Okay, we've heard what you had to say.
35:02We're going to have a little chat, and then I'm going to call you back.
35:04We can leave the runway.
35:10All right.
35:10Let's talk about those with the higher scores.
35:13Let's start with Irina.
35:15I think everything that she designs, I can actually see people wearing her clothes.
35:19I thought it was chic.
35:20I really did think, you know, it looked like the perfect outfit for the perfect
35:24arm candy of a millionaire.
35:26She always is thinking about making it look luxe.
35:30Imagine if she had the money, you know?
35:33I think it's a beautiful look.
35:36All right, let's move on to Althea.
35:39I thought the construction was really good.
35:40The pants were impeccable.
35:42And especially this idea of keeping the look architectural,
35:45but still having it be cozy and comfortable.
35:48The model loved it.
35:50Yeah.
35:50She felt good in it.
35:52Yeah, no, that was fabulous.
35:55Let's talk about Carole Hannah.
35:57The cocktail dress.
35:59Beautiful dress.
36:00So sweet.
36:01A very, very nice dress.
36:02And Lisa looked great modeling it.
36:04She kept it young and sexy.
36:07The pockets that made it also very young.
36:09Yeah, love those pockets.
36:10The work that she did with the Charmous and the chiffon was very well done and very refined,
36:18very quiet, very elegant.
36:20Really beautiful.
36:21We could all wear that dress.
36:22Oh my gosh.
36:22Yes, we could all wear that dress.
36:24We could all wear it.
36:26Let's talk about those designers with the lower scores.
36:29Let's talk about Logan.
36:32So, Space Odyssey 2001.
36:35It was like an outfit for a music video back in the 80s, but not even for the lead person.
36:40The background one.
36:41Yeah.
36:42It just was strange.
36:43To me, it was like, you know those lizards that when they're trying to scare people their necks
36:47from them.
36:48Like an indulgent fashion student project.
36:50It just didn't.
36:51Yeah.
36:52Last week, I've told him, turn up the volume.
36:55Who are you?
36:55And now he's like, I'm about zippers.
36:57It's like 50 in one outfit.
36:59Hard wear hair.
37:00He took that advice to literally.
37:02I know.
37:07All right.
37:07Let's talk about Jordana.
37:09She wanted to do edgy and elegant, and she couldn't really deliver on that.
37:14That was like the saddest drab, most drab thing.
37:18And maybe it's like a personal thing.
37:19I mean, I was like, okay, the 80s are back.
37:22You do it.
37:22Let's talk about Christopher, who worked really hard on making a thousand petals.
37:30I know.
37:31I wanted to really like this dress because I liked two thirds of it.
37:36But the bottom was heavy.
37:38There's like children hiding underneath.
37:40No, terrible, terrible.
37:42It's a big thing coming out.
37:44I was like, what is going on?
37:46The way it hangs, it does not look expensive.
37:48It does look like a bed skirt.
37:50It hangs just like that.
37:51He put the bed skirt around three times, and that's it.
37:58I think this was one of our toughest decisions, right?
38:03But we did it.
38:04Okay, let's bring them back out.
38:13One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
38:21One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
38:29Carol, Hannah, you're in.
38:31You can leave the runway.
38:39Althea, you are the winner of this challenge.
38:45We all wanted to walk away with your outfit, but it's mine.
38:49I will be happy to make each and every one of you your own version.
38:53Oh, thank you.
38:55Good job.
38:56Congratulations.
38:57You can leave the runway.
38:58Congrats.
38:58Thank you all very much.
39:00I'm not really exactly sure what Irina was accusing me of copying, but to accuse someone
39:07of something on the runway in front of judges and really important people, I feel like it's not
39:13an issue of stress.
39:14It's an issue of character.
39:15Do you win?
39:16Yes.
39:17You know, that's all right, because I still won, even though no one wanted me to.
39:23I'm happy.
39:26Irina, you're in.
39:28You can leave the runway.
39:38Christopher, you're in.
39:41You can leave the runway.
39:52Logan, Jordana, one of you will be out.
39:58Jordana, this suit had nothing to do with your previous look.
40:03This outfit was sad, drab, and dated.
40:08Logan, your look was too tricked out.
40:11Yes, we did tell you to turn up the volume, but this was like a bunch of zippers exploded
40:16on your dress.
40:17You really needed to edit.
40:24Jordana.
40:29You're in.
40:31Thank you very much.
40:32that means Logan, you're out.
40:43Logan, you're out.
40:52Thank you so much.
40:55I'm surprised that I'm going home for taking a risk and for showing them something that's that's innovative and kind of out there
41:04I'm definitely not a designer that's for you know middle America or 90% of the population
41:11So I think that you know the people that see what I put down the runway
41:15They'll get it if they don't then then they don't and you know, I'm not trying to please everyone
41:21You're a great designer. We're gonna hear more from you. Yes, you will
41:24Good
41:25Thank you guys. Thanks a lot of good
41:29This whole thing is just been so crazy
41:31I'm looking forward to the future and I'm looking forward to the next step and the
41:37Opportunities that I know are coming my way
41:41This isn't the end for me. It's really the beginning
41:46Next time on project runway fashion week is at your fingertips
41:51It's your last challenge
41:54It's costing me my life
41:56Althea is sort of like King Kong. She wants to grab everything
41:59I think she's just out for blood. Oh, yeah, it's looking a lot like roadkill
42:04They look like stalactites
42:06They're gonna be edged in
42:06Christopher what? Oh my god, it's a bit of a mess fest not so great from the back
42:12I'm a bit shocked to see this from you today. Are you confident in this as your final challenge look?
