00:01Previously on Project Runway,
00:03you will be making a prom dress for them.
00:06I was very scared.
00:07I don't want to hem this.
00:09What do you mean you don't want to hem it, darling?
00:11That would be unfinished.
00:12I'm not going to do it.
00:14This thing in the sleeve here.
00:15You want another sleeve there?
00:16I'm not a dressmaker.
00:18Very cute.
00:19I literally want to rip the dress off and give up.
00:23Congratulations, Victoria.
00:32You are the winner of this challenge.
00:34I just don't like the fact that you're blaming Maddie.
00:38She looks like she's 35 years old.
00:41I am distracted by the Hemming.
00:44Kevin, you're out.
00:46The winner of Project Runway will receive a spread in Elle magazine,
00:53an opportunity to sell their line on bluefly.com,
00:57an all-new 2008 Saturn Astra,
00:59and $100,000 to start their own line,
01:01furnished by Tresemme Professional Hair Care.
01:04This is Project Runway.
01:06Let's go.
01:07Hell yes, I'm the best.
01:09You're either in or you're out.
01:11I'm in, they're out.
01:13I would be caught dead in his clothes.
01:15Fashion is my life.
01:16Who will be the next big fashion designer?
01:18That's me.
01:19Bottom line, I'm the best.
01:21I will own the runway.
01:23For these 15 designers, Project Runway is a chance of a lifetime.
01:37So how do you feel about yesterday, Christian?
01:39About what? My client?
01:41That almost got me eliminated.
01:43I had such a hard time with the prom challenge.
01:46I shouldn't have really been in the bottom two, though.
01:49I know my dress wasn't that great, but God, others were not cute.
01:54Ask me about any challenge, I've probably been up there.
01:56Yeah.
01:58After last night's elimination, it's just a reminder that I got a lot of work to do.
02:03I'll miss Kevin, but I'm glad it's not me.
02:08All right, bitches, let's go.
02:10We gotta find out what our challenge is.
02:19Hello.
02:20Hello.
02:21Before I tell you about your next challenge, let's bring out your models.
02:29What's going on?
02:30What's going on?
02:31What's going on?
02:32What's going on?
02:33What's going on?
02:34what's going on?
02:35I'm gonna be making you really notice something different about your models today.
02:38And that's because, for your next challenge, you will be creating an avant-garde look,
02:41inspired by a model's hairstyle.
02:44The challenge really just couldn't be better.
02:47Couldn't be better.
02:48This is the challenge that I'm the most excited about.
02:51This is an opportunity for you to push yourselves as designers
02:54and to create something artistic and conceptual.
02:59Models, because you weren't used in the last challenge,
03:03there are ten of you and eight designers.
03:07So two of you will be out.
03:10Victoria, you won the last challenge, so you get the first pick.
03:14I would love to stick with Jacqueline.
03:23Kit.
03:24Okay, good.
03:25Marie.
03:26Sweet Pea.
03:27This is tough because of the hairdos.
03:31I'm sorry, I want to pick Lee.
03:32I'm sorry.
03:34I feel so bad, but I pick Lee over Katie.
03:37Her hair was nothing.
03:38Lee's was fierce.
03:40Jillian.
03:41I'm staying with Lauren.
03:43Chris.
03:44Marcia.
03:45Rami.
03:46I would love to work with Sam.
03:48Christian.
03:49Lisa.
03:50I picked Lisa, who was my first model.
03:52God, she is so high fashion.
03:56Katie.
03:58Aviva.
03:59Amanda.
04:01Two of you will be out.
04:03Ricky, you have a hard decision to make.
04:06I'm sorry, ladies.
04:08You're all beautiful.
04:09But I want to play with Amanda.
04:15Katie.
04:16Aviva.
04:17I'm sorry, you're out.
04:18Auf Wiedersehen.
04:19Tim is waiting for you in the workroom to fill you in on some of the details.
04:30Good luck, and I'll see you on the runway.
04:34Bye.
04:34Bye.
04:35Bye.
04:41Designers, as Heidi said, for this challenge, you'll be creating an avant-garde look inspired
04:46by your model's hairstyle.
04:48This look does not have to be practical.
04:50It doesn't even have to be very wearable.
04:53An avant-garde look is by definition ambitious.
04:57Because of that, you will be working in teams of two.
05:01Of course.
05:03I will draw your names from this bag to determine the teams.
05:08So, team one is Kit and Ricky.
05:15Team two, Sweet Pea with Rami.
05:21Oh, that's fantastic.
05:23Team three, Chris with Christian.
05:28Woo-hoo.
05:29Yeah.
05:29And I was like, all he does is costume and crazy s***.
05:34He's going to come up with something fabulous.
05:36Who's left?
05:37Victoria and Jillian.
05:40All right, you'll have 30 minutes to determine which model's hairstyle will inspire the look
05:47for this challenge.
05:47Your budget is $300, and you will have two days.
05:52Each team must choose a team leader.
05:57I'm going to send in your models.
05:58Use your time well.
06:02It's going to have to be one girl.
06:04I know.
06:05We got to look at their hair.
06:06Since you worked at Alexander McQueen, do you want to be the team leader?
06:10I'm so scared.
06:12I'm going to get eliminated.
06:14No, I don't think it's going to be.
06:14I don't think it's going to happen to me.
06:15I really don't want to be a leader because I don't want to be eliminated, but then I feel
06:19really strongly about this challenge.
06:21Let's just decide who should we use.
06:24I think hers is more glamorous.
06:26Use her hand.
06:27Go ahead.
06:28We chose Marcia.
06:30She's very tall and gorgeous.
06:32What if we did the entire dress in circles of organza?
06:37Thousands.
06:38We're going to do this in the most diplomatic ways.
06:40I'm sorry.
06:41Your hair is more easy to work with.
06:42Sorry, girl.
06:43Have a seat.
06:44Maria's hair looks like a bird's nest, so we decided to use my model, Marie.
06:50Our whole concept is based off this idea of nesting.
06:53In my head, these are all totally different fabrics that look good together.
06:59I like that idea.
06:59It just worked out naturally that I would be the team leader because it's basically my concept.
07:06Fantastic.
07:07Rami and I decided we will pick Sam as our model, he as the leader, because my mind doesn't really
07:13naturally go to the avant-garde.
07:15Wow.
07:16The chiffon is restricted in one area of the bodice and then just pretty much freely falls
07:20out into a gown of some sort, you know?
07:21The vision for this avant-garde piece is hard and soft.
07:25But I'm using that concept to create curvy lines and then freely falling out just like
07:30her hair.
07:31So what were you thinking?
07:32So I thought about like kind of an apocalyptic, dramatic trench coat.
07:36Actually, when I saw Jacqueline, I know that she definitely has a very heavy like 80s punk
07:40reference.
07:41There was not going to be a chance in hell that either of us were going to say, okay, you
07:45be the leader.
07:46It was not going to happen.
07:47I think we should just flip a coin.
07:48Unless we flip this and if it lands face up, it's mine.
07:51Okay, that's good.
07:52If it lands face down, it's yours.
07:53Okay.
07:55Are you cool with that?
07:57I am.
07:58I'm a little uncomfortable about some of the things.
08:01I think we need to just really solidify a story here.
08:03Right.
08:04Okay.
08:05Designers, time's up.
08:07We're going shopping.
08:12We have $300 for this challenge.
08:13Oh, look at this one.
08:15That, that, that, that.
08:15We are getting different fabrics that work with the colors that we talked about.
08:19Oh my God, this is beautiful.
08:21Rami?
08:22Sweet feet.
08:23Rami?
08:23Is there enough?
08:25Yeah, there's two, these two rolls.
08:26That's not 40 yards.
08:28We need so much fabric.
08:31We need probably 50 yards of organza.
08:35Oh, this is better.
08:36This is way better.
08:37This is perfect.
08:38It works.
08:38Thank you, Moose.
08:43Thank you, Moose.
08:44Thank you, Moose.
08:44Thank you, Moose.
08:51Oh, wow.
08:51We have a lot.
08:52I don't want it to look like Little House on the Prairie.
08:56Our avant-garde look started with the idea of the hair being a bird's nest.
09:00So we did a theme of a girl who'd be in a garden and many aprons to represent layering.
09:07This is some serious drama.
09:09Like, it's the girl in me and it's the bitch in you.
09:13The bottom.
09:14Faroche.
09:15If I was a diva, my name would be Faroche.
09:19Marcia has this huge, kind of romantic, braided bun.
09:23So the gown is literally hundreds of layers of tiered, circular ruffles.
09:28And we'll have this giant neck piece and, oh, my God, that's amazing.
09:32I'm trying to build us a cell phone tower so we can call out.
09:35How about if it takes us to Elisa's planet?
09:38Didn't you know Elisa left me these instructions?
09:41Unless you feel otherwise, I'd like to style the collar up and just kind of tipping over here.
09:45Awesome.
09:46The model's hair gives the effect of a mohawk.
09:48So it allowed us to come up with this theme of, like, rebellion.
09:53And I'm kind of replicating that hairstyle down the back of the trench coat that I'm making.
09:59Victoria's working on the shirt and the pants.
10:02Two days is never enough time for anything for me.
10:05And Victoria and I are both people who struggle with time management.
10:10So I'm pretty worried about it.
10:14So why don't you put it on the dress form and try to put a French seam in the center front, okay?
10:20And I chose to take over the corset and sort of the gown part of the outfit because it's very intricate and detailed.
10:30So I asked Sweet Peet if she's able to do a pair of trousers, and she reassured me that she can do it.
10:35Do you want to make the apron in the thing?
10:49Oh, yeah.
10:49You want me to do that instead?
10:50Yeah.
10:50Let me just bone her.
10:52Bone her and then make the apron.
10:55Pin it extremely straight all the way down.
10:58Do you feel comfortable with that?
11:00Are you sure?
11:01I think what is slowing me down is actually having to constantly answer and attend to Sweet Pea because she's struggling with a pair of pants.
11:10I just feel like the pants should be almost finished.
11:13That's my only concern.
11:15Because there's so much work in here.
11:17Look, dude.
11:18We wanted to accomplish getting the pant and the corset sewn, and we've finished those, and we've also draped most of the gown.
11:26So I'm not really comprehending why he's so stressed out when we are actually ahead of the game.
11:32These are almost done, Rami.
11:33Okay, cool.
11:34I just told you.
11:35All right.
11:35I'm just thinking ahead.
11:37Any dysfunction that happens in the team, I feel like I'm going to be blamed for it.
11:42My ass is on the line, basically, here.
11:43Coming up on Project Runway.
11:47I have a special announcement to make.
11:50Oh, my God.
11:51My reaction is horror, nausea.
12:04All right, man.
12:06Do I have enough cigarettes for the day?
12:07I'm kind of worried to go into Parsons today because Rami just seemed upset last night.
12:14So I am hoping things are a little different this morning.
12:19It will work.
12:20Let's get it.
12:20Go.
12:24Street P is a little dyslexic.
12:26I never know what door to open.
12:28You're going to go do the ruffles.
12:30The crinoline.
12:31Okay.
12:31And I'm going to just keep doing this.
12:33Yeah.
12:34We're there, girl.
12:35Work.
12:35The challenge is to do something avant-garde, inspired by a model's hair, and it can be
12:41anything.
12:42So I'm excited.
12:44What do you think should be done?
12:46Something out the back.
12:48Maybe I do think bustle.
12:49Some drama.
12:50What is the goal?
12:51Because it could look like it and be over the top.
12:53Of course.
12:53And I mentioned bustling a few times.
12:55And if we build the back of the dress out, I thought it would look really cool.
12:59But he's not really listening.
13:01Let me take over this, okay?
13:03Mm-hmm.
13:05Designers, may I ask you to gather around, please?
13:12I have a special announcement to make.
13:15Uh-oh.
13:15Get scared of special announcements.
13:18Yeah.
13:21There will be another look walking down the runway tomorrow.
13:24I wanted to throw up.
13:34Oh my God, I was so pissed.
13:35Each of your teams must create a ready-to-wear garment that embodies the essence of your avant-garde look.
13:41Let me assert that every major fashion designer must do this, provoke and inspire with high-end conceptual work, and translate it to saleable ready-to-wear.
13:53And this has to be done by tomorrow?
13:55By tomorrow.
13:56Oh my God.
13:57You will have an additional budget of $50 for this look.
14:00And we're going to give you until 1 a.m.
14:03I'm going to give you 15 minutes to talk among yourselves.
14:06And then we'll be going to Mood, where you'll have 15 minutes to shop.
14:09And only one team member must go.
14:12I'm going to give you 15 minutes to caucus, and I'll be back.
14:16Okay, so I already had an idea.
14:18Last dress, skirt.
14:19Huh?
14:19Dress.
14:19Dress, dress, dress.
14:20Simple dress.
14:21And then we do a band.
14:23Mm-hmm.
14:23Right away, Kit looks at me, and she's like, we should do something like a little dress.
14:27And I said, you know what?
14:27I'll figure it out.
14:28I'll drape it.
14:29It's cake for me.
14:30I do it day in and day out.
14:32But I want to pick out the fabric.
14:34And we'll just do the simple, little chic.
14:36Little outfit.
14:37I'm not scared at all.
14:39Heh.
14:42Just focus on one.
14:43Whoever gets finished starts it.
14:45And a shirt dress maybe?
14:46When, yeah, I'm already off schedule, so.
14:49My reaction is horror, nausea.
14:53I think navy.
14:54Why is it navy?
14:55Because it kind of ties in with the pant, and I feel like it makes it day.
15:00I feel like it makes it day, though.
15:02Navy's not so much day, I think.
15:03Right away, I have an idea, and he's immediately like, I don't like that color.
15:08And I'm like, okay.
15:10Sketch for me what you have in mind.
15:12I go from the form the most.
15:13I can't be in the dark with what you're doing.
15:15I feel like you don't trust that I'm going to...
15:16Because you don't seem too sure about it.
15:18You're not telling me what you're doing.
15:18I'm not, I'm totally sure.
15:20You scribbled out your sketch, so I'm confused.
15:21Sweet B was not clear to what she wanted to design.
15:26But since we are a team, I really need to know what it's going to be.
15:30I'm not asking for a while.
15:31Let me swatch.
15:32Okay.
15:32All right, designers, your 15 minutes is up.
15:37I'm leading the group to mood.
15:39Who's coming with me?
15:40I'm out.
15:41Okay.
15:42Thank you, Jillian.
15:43Pray for us.
15:45Get out of the way.
15:47Love you, bye.
15:48Love you, bye.
15:50Oh, wait, I need that friend.
15:51I chose to go to mood just because I'm fast, and I kind of knew exactly what I needed.
15:56Like, this is my main choices here.
15:58Like a gray.
15:59Ooh, that's gorgeous.
16:01I just started running around, and I found some beautiful silver shantung.
16:05And I think I'll get something really cute out of this.
16:08Um, yeah, yeah.
16:09Let's cut that.
16:10Just give me a yard and a half.
16:12I think I can make do.
16:13I pulled everything together that I needed.
16:15Let's get this fabric and get out of here so we can make something with it.
16:20Time's up.
16:21Let's sit back with the work room now, okay?
16:22Okay.
16:26I had a gajillion.
16:28Went good.
16:29Let me show you what I bought.
16:30I got this.
16:31Cool.
16:32So I will start draping.
16:34But I'll just drape.
16:35Just show me.
16:35I'll show you.
16:35Just show me.
16:36Before I do it.
16:36That's fine.
16:37On to the next one.
16:38From fantasy to reality.
16:41Designers, I'm bringing in the models so you can have a fitting.
16:44Yay.
16:44They'll be here for about 30 minutes.
16:46All right?
16:47Use your time well.
16:48Make it work.
16:50All right.
16:50Come on in.
16:51Have fun.
16:53Hi, ladies.
16:54Hey, how are you?
16:55Good.
16:56How are you?
16:56I love this here, I think, but I'm not sure if I love it here.
17:00I think it makes it more interesting, no?
17:02I think Rami did end up putting way too much stuff on the dress, and he disagreed with me.
17:09But I definitely don't think adding so much stuff to it is what would be considered avant-garde.
17:15Step in.
17:16This is going to be so heavy.
17:18This looks crazy.
17:20I'm so excited.
17:21Once Marie put our avant-garde look on, it really transformed the whole piece.
17:26You have to step back and say, wow, this is really cool.
17:29Dude, it looks so good.
17:31As usual, I only have a pant to fit on you.
17:34So at least it's something.
17:35So Jillian has nothing that she wants to do?
17:37Yeah, not yet.
17:39Because her dress is pretty much really done.
17:41Okay, great.
17:42I'm glad you're done.
17:43Sorry, sorry, sorry.
17:43Everybody's done except for me and Victoria.
17:45Great.
17:46We are still in development phase, and we weren't completely prepared to have a full fitting.
17:53My concern is that Victoria is immune for this challenge, and ultimately, if we're on the bottom, it's immediately me who has to go.
18:03Oh, my God.
18:04Oh, yeah?
18:04I told you she's magical.
18:06Wait.
18:06Just dislocate my shoulders and climb.
18:09Is this hurt?
18:11Make it a little looser.
18:12Okay.
18:13Don't kill her.
18:13What I hope happens tomorrow at the Runway Show is that our model, Marcia, comes out, and people's jaws drop to the floor, and they never forget it as long as they live.
18:27Burn.
18:27Oh.
18:28Burn it up.
18:29Burn it up.
18:29Burn it up.
18:29Yes.
18:30You got to bring it back, girls.
18:32You got to bring it back from the side and turn.
18:36Ugh.
18:36That's good.
18:43That's really cute.
18:45Yeah.
18:46Rami's lending me to the ready-to-wear look, and it's super cute, and it's totally me.
18:52I need you to finish the dress and the pants.
18:54Rami, hold on.
18:54I'm going to finish these.
18:55Okay.
18:56I need to know when we're going to finish.
18:57That's all.
18:57I'm entitled.
18:58So I walk into the workroom, and Sweet B has been on the cutting table for quite some time.
19:06I'm leading the team.
19:07I need to make sure that everything's going on schedule.
19:10My ass is on the line.
19:11Okay?
19:11So is mine.
19:12No, mine is more than yours.
19:14Please understand that.
19:15That's all I need you to do.
19:16Don't get mad.
19:16Please.
19:17Okay?
19:17I'm totally going to finish.
19:18That's it.
19:18That's it.
19:18That's it.
19:19It's so simple what I'm doing right now.
19:20Okay.
19:21Let's just have a time plan.
19:22That's all I'm asking for.
19:26Oh, God.
19:28Sweet Pea gets defensive, so I'm feeling like I need to be extremely careful, and it's
19:34draining a lot of my energy.
19:36It makes it hard for me to work.
19:40I have to f*** one.
19:42I'm almost done.
19:44Sorry.
19:44No.
19:45It's okay.
19:46I know.
19:46This is hard.
19:47This will be insane.
19:48I just was, like, so mad.
19:50This is rough, you know?
19:51I told him, dude, just calm down.
19:54I wish Rami would just, like, please get off my back.
19:58Thanks.
20:02Coming up on Project Runway.
20:04I'm worried.
20:05The problem here is that we think differently.
20:08I'm just hoping we don't end up in some kind of fist fight.
20:21Designers and models, may I ask you to gather round, please?
20:26Designers and models.
20:28I have a special guest I want to introduce.
20:41Please welcome Nathaniel Hawkins.
20:44Nathaniel is lead stylist for the Tresemme Hair Care Creative Team.
20:47Welcome to Parsons, the new school for design.
20:49Thank you for having me.
20:51Nathaniel's here to consult with you on the hairstyle for your ready-to-wear look.
20:55What we're going to do today is to translate the avant-garde hairstyle into a look for the
21:01everyday woman.
21:02We want to create something that is beautiful, effortless, yet practical.
21:06And Nathaniel has a special announcement to make.
21:09The winning team's looks and models will be featured in a Tresemme ad in Elle magazine.
21:15Wow!
21:16Thanks, Nathaniel!
21:19To be in Elle magazine for Tresemme, that's exciting, and it makes us want to work harder.
21:24Hello.
21:26Hello.
21:26Hello.
21:27On her, I would do a little bit of fullness and create a smaller, more elegant shape.
21:33Sounds perfect.
21:34We still can create this smoother crown, building into it.
21:39Very loose.
21:40Yeah.
21:40I love it.
21:40Perfect.
21:41So Jacqueline has that crazy faux hawk.
21:44Yes.
21:44I thought that we could do hair pressed perfectly smooth with the long, luxurious hair.
21:50Love that.
21:51Strong side part, and we'll get a nice, soft shape.
21:55Wouldn't that be rad?
21:56It will be so pretty in her.
21:59Thanks, Nathaniel.
22:00Bye, sweet pea.
22:00Have a good night.
22:07Hi, everybody.
22:09How's team fierce?
22:12Well, what do you think?
22:13Pretty fierce.
22:14Well, I have to tell you guys, this is staggering.
22:17But this translation to ready-to-wear worries me.
22:20This looks kind of cheap.
22:23Oh, my God.
22:24I think it looks so expensive.
22:25I know.
22:26I'm dubious.
22:27Okay.
22:27I think it'll be very chic, and I'll totally fight that if I have to.
22:33Kit?
22:33Ricky?
22:34Yes.
22:34We're very excited.
22:36All right.
22:37All these ribbons are going to just become a big, giant nest.
22:42It's a costume, and the answer is, yeah.
22:46But it's conceptual.
22:48Is there anything else you can do to dramatize this?
22:51Does it need more of this to punch it up?
22:55No, I don't know about that.
22:57Just have it be exuberant.
22:59Thank you, Tim.
22:59Okay.
23:00Just do it.
23:02Santa Maria.
23:02Let's go.
23:03So, Rami.
23:04Yes.
23:05Sweet Pea, how are you doing?
23:07Good.
23:07This is the corset gown that's worn as a blouse.
23:11Is this going to surprise them, or is this going to be what they expect?
23:16You don't think it's over the top enough, is what you're saying?
23:18We're asking you to go many steps higher, and have you gone high enough?
23:25They have not seen me do corsets, Tim.
23:26The only thing I'm going to say, I'm worried.
23:29Okay.
23:30The problem here is that we think differently, and we're working as a team, and it's a conflict.
23:38I think that's more on our work process.
23:39Well, how has the experience been so far?
23:41I want you to talk a little bit.
23:43How is that, the way you work together?
23:44We just both work really differently.
23:46We do.
23:47So it's been difficult.
23:50Tim is saying, this dress looks too much like you, Rami.
23:52It's like, what does that have to do with how we work as a team?
23:56Other than, he won't let me in.
23:58All right, carry on.
23:59Okay, thanks.
24:01Victoria, Jillian, how are you doing?
24:03We're doing okay.
24:05It's dressed for time.
24:06We're just moving as fast as we can possibly move.
24:09I want to assert that this coat is fabulous.
24:13If you can achieve this, this is incredible.
24:17Yeah.
24:18The second outfit, we haven't even started it.
24:21It's a matter of finishing this, and it's a matter of that second look.
24:27Okay.
24:28Carry on.
24:30Thanks, Tim.
24:31I'll be in the sewing room.
24:33Okay, I think I will join you, Jillian.
24:35Oh, great.
24:36So right now, we're not talking, and it's a little tense.
24:43I'm totally expecting to be in the bottom tomorrow.
24:46That's one reason I really wanted to pull my dress together, so that I can stand strong
24:51with something really great on the runway myself.
24:56What?
24:56All right, you mother f***er, come on.
25:06Let's see.
25:08By the end of the evening, I still had some finishings to do on my two garments.
25:14Jillian, as well, had not completely finished her coat.
25:18I have no idea if we're going to be able to even start the second look.
25:22Let's go.
25:23So f***ing tired.
25:24Oh, I can't even walk.
25:26Is everybody ready?
25:39I'm kind of wondering how Rami's going to be today.
25:42I'm just hoping we don't end up in some kind of fist fight.
25:47Okay, let's go.
25:48I'm ready.
25:49I've been waiting.
25:51Come on.
25:56I just want to make sure that it looks like an expensive enough dress.
26:04The first thing that I do is start on that second dress.
26:08In order to finish it, I'm going to move like the speed of light today.
26:13Good morning, designers.
26:14Hi, Tim.
26:15Good morning.
26:16I'm going to be sending in your ready-to-wear models momentarily.
26:19Your avant-garde models are already in hair.
26:23You'll have a two-hour period of time to send your models to the L'Oreal Paris makeup room
26:27and the Trésame hair salon.
26:29All right.
26:30Hi, darling.
26:33Let me try this on you.
26:34See, with the no sleeves, it's done.
26:36It's very chic.
26:37Perfect.
26:37I think it's cute.
26:38It's a dress.
26:39It's super casual.
26:41The ready-to-wear dress looks really simple.
26:43I would have liked to have done it in a different fabric.
26:46But because we were telling Kit's story, that's the story.
26:49It's perfect.
26:50It's fine.
26:51It's what it is.
26:52So, this is going to be your front section.
27:10Just put your hands up.
27:12This is couture hilarity.
27:14Make sure the face is always tucked in.
27:17In all honesty, I know we're going to win.
27:20It just has to happen.
27:21I smell Trésame, and...
27:23Right here, it's supposed to be a little.
27:26It's the least of my problems right now.
27:28Okay.
27:29In the end, I put the second dress on my model, but it is like a last-minute afterthought.
27:34It's beautiful.
27:35Can you cut me a piece of bread, Amanda?
27:37I can do it.
27:38Here.
27:38I really like our final garment because I think it stands apart from the other designers.
27:44I am a little bit nervous, however, because it's just really different from where everyone else went.
27:49Are you sure about these boots?
27:51Well, yeah.
27:52Designers and models, this is it.
27:54We're going down to the runway.
27:55Okay.
27:56So, follow me.
27:57Let's go.
27:58I'm just worried that you've got you getting there.
28:01Jillian, Victoria, we've got to go.
28:03We definitely lived up to team last minute.
28:07I was proud that we did a great job on the avant-garde look.
28:11I think it would be amazing if we won.
28:13I just, at this point, I'm not convinced that that will happen.
28:19Coming up on Project Runway.
28:21I wonder if there's something else that you can do.
28:24It just does not look well made.
28:26Welcome to the runway.
28:38As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day, you're out.
28:42For this challenge, we had you work in teams of two to create two looks.
28:48An avant-garde look inspired by your model's hairstyle, and a second ready-to-wear look that
28:54captured the essence of the avant-garde outfit.
28:57The winning outfits will be featured in a TRESemmé ad in Elle magazine.
29:03Let's meet the judges.
29:06First, we have top American designer Michael Kores.
29:10Hey, guys.
29:11Next, we have Nina Garcia, fashion director of Elle magazine.
29:14Hi, everyone.
29:15And acclaimed Italian designer, Alberta Ferretti.
29:18Hello.
29:19Hi.
29:20Ciao.
29:21We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
29:23One of you will be named the winner.
29:25And tonight, only one of you will be out.
29:32Let's start the show.
29:39I'm very happy as I'm watching Sam walk down the runway.
29:43I feel like I created something that is original and beautiful.
29:52I definitely really loved my dress.
29:55I loved Rami's, too.
29:56You know, I just think maybe it wasn't big or grand enough.
30:01I always watched the judges' faces, and Nina Garcia could not keep the look off of her face.
30:16I think that she was impressed by her face.
30:17I think that she was impressed by it.
30:19My avant-garde look was amazing.
30:22The couture pose is all about the cinched waist and hunched shoulders.
30:27It was such a shock factor from the beginning to the end.
30:30And the ready-to-wear look was so chic and looked beautiful.
30:36So I was 10,000% happy.
30:39I'm definitely happy with the avant-garde look, but I see the very serious fashion of all the
30:51other designers, and Ricky and I didn't go that direction, so that makes me very nervous.
31:01To have a second look, you really get the extremes.
31:04You get the really high and the really low of the whole story.
31:06We were excited, because she looked amazing.
31:19We loved the silhouette.
31:20We were both happy.
31:23Jacqueline really executed that look to perfection, and I don't think that any other model could
31:29have done it like she did.
31:36I was proud that we did finish the ready-to-wear look, but I wasn't satisfied with it at all.
31:51We've scored your designs.
31:53Will the following teams please step forward?
31:56Rami and Sweet Pea.
32:00Kit and Ricky.
32:03Your teams have the lowest scores.
32:06But first, we're going to talk to the teams with the highest scores.
32:12You can leave the runway.
32:19Okay, let's bring out your models.
32:32Christian, what was your thought process with your look?
32:35When I first saw Marcia's hair, we took it as, like, a very romantic, old-world feeling.
32:44Whose design was it?
32:46We came up with the color idea, and we decided on the model.
32:49We just kind of went, I can do this, you can do that.
32:52And this is 45 yards of fabric, just to let you know.
32:56Can we see the back?
32:58It's amazing because it's a very complicated dress.
33:03It's a couture dress, but the job is amazing.
33:06Congratulations.
33:07Seven.
33:08It looks beautifully crafted.
33:12It's certainly important and exciting looking.
33:17I think it's very soigne, and I think that the ready-to-wear, the blouse is great looking.
33:22But I think the skirt's a little bit of a throwaway, let's be honest.
33:26Yeah, it's not perfect, I know.
33:28But obviously, as a team, you guys worked well together.
33:31It could be a cover try, this look.
33:34It's really, really beautiful.
33:36Okay, Victoria, tell us about your avant-garde look.
33:39The immediate reference we had was something very punk with an equestrian le motif.
33:45The silhouette is very beautiful, cutting very well, yes.
33:48Can we see the blouse in the pants?
33:51I like the dresser.
33:53I do, too.
33:54Why'd you hide them?
33:54Yeah, why?
33:55Well, because the coat was so beautiful.
33:57Can I see the back of the chaffers?
33:59It's adorable, the blouse.
34:01The back of the blouse is great.
34:03And I don't mind the tartan little black dress.
34:06I mean, I think it's cute.
34:07We had three looks.
34:09No, you do.
34:09Yes, you did have three.
34:10You do, you have three looks.
34:11So we should win.
34:12No, we're not.
34:14Okay, we've heard what you had to say.
34:16You can leave the runway.
34:24All right, let's bring out the teams with the lowest scores.
34:35Rami, please tell us about your avant-garde look.
34:38When I first looked at Sam, instantly I thought of a corset.
34:42And I imagined something that is flowy.
34:45And we paired it with a pair of pants to kind of create sort of two odds and have them meet together.
34:51Who did what exactly here?
34:53I made the gown with the corset.
34:58Sweetie made the pants and the dress.
35:00The dress is beautiful.
35:02It's a cute dress.
35:03The commercial dress in this instance, to me, is more forward looking than the avant-garde piece.
35:08Rami, I know that you do draping impeccably.
35:12I wonder if there's something else that you can do.
35:15The dress, the volume is not so dramatic and it's too normal.
35:19Maybe the shape of the trouser could have been more masculine.
35:23Can we see what they look like now?
35:26She looks like her ass is in her front.
35:28But the gown could have had something that when she walked out, it just went, oof.
35:33I wanted to add something back here like an explosion out of her rear.
35:37You know, I know it sounds kooky.
35:40But, you know, I think that he was really taking ownership of his design and didn't really want me putting too much into it.
35:46We were two odds working together.
35:47And that's what sort of took away from the loudness.
35:52We work different ways.
35:53Yes.
35:54But you do know that the best design teams are not people who are exactly the same.
36:00Or else you're just sitting and telling, you're fabulous.
36:02You know, you're fabulous.
36:03I mean, you want someone else's opinion.
36:04And you get nothing done.
36:05I mean, you get nothing.
36:07And you just, you were arm wrestling the whole time.
36:13Kit.
36:14Hello.
36:14How did you divide up the work between the two of you?
36:17I made the skirt and Ricky made the corset and the couture dress.
36:22It's so strange, that dress, because it's not avant-garde.
36:26It's cheap.
36:26It's real cheap.
36:27It's a little Scarlett O'Hara, but in a cheap way.
36:33I have to say what Alberta said about, you know, Scarlett O'Hara ripped the drapes down,
36:38but she made a couture dress out of her drapes.
36:41This, she ripped the sheets off the bed and ran out the door.
36:43I think also, it just does not look well made.
36:47You know, if you look at the satin, it is all, like, wrinkly.
36:51It, it, I feel like it needs to be steamed or something.
36:55If I were pulling for a couture avant-garde photo shoot, this would not be it.
37:00And I think the ready-to-wear outfit is equally disappointing.
37:08Okay, we've heard what you had to say.
37:09We're going to have a little chat, and then I'm going to call you back.
37:12You can leave the runway.
37:13So, who did we like?
37:24Christian and Chris had, I think, a remarkable avant-garde piece.
37:29Today is an amazing job.
37:31That is important.
37:32And as a team, they work together brilliantly.
37:35Normally, you know, two designers, you stick two things together.
37:38It looks like two things stuck together, but in this case, it didn't.
37:41She looked like a photo shoot right there.
37:47With Victoria and Julian, I love the dress.
37:50I love the pants and the shirt.
37:52And I love the coat.
37:53It just looked terrific.
37:55Very, very good job in all directions.
37:58You could see a lot of women really wanting to wear those clothes.
38:06What do we think about Rami in Sweet Peas Team?
38:09He knows he can drape very well, and that's what he consistently gives us.
38:13But show us something else for a change.
38:15His excuse was...
38:17Sweet Pea.
38:17He was throwing her under the bus.
38:20She executed the daytime dress very nicely.
38:22Yeah.
38:23It was a great, great little daytime dress.
38:28And then Kate and Ricky.
38:30I don't know if they even wrapped their head around the word avant-garde.
38:34It's so strange because the realization is terrible.
38:38She picked out these fabrics, which I think looked very poor.
38:41If they would have executed it in a beautiful way with beautiful materials, it could have worked.
38:46The one thing I will say, though, is the construction of that hoop from scratch.
38:52That was good.
38:53But it didn't help the look of the clothes.
38:55And then the ready-to-wear dress truly looked like the poorest.
39:01Amateur.
39:01Everything looked amateur.
39:07So we've made our decision?
39:09Yes.
39:09Yeah.
39:10Okay, let's bring them back out.
39:11One of you will be named the winner.
39:27And one of you will be out.
39:36One of you will be named the winner.
39:37And one of you will be out.
39:43Let's start with the winner.
39:45It was between Christian's team and Victoria's team.
39:50Congratulations.
39:53Christian.
39:55You were the winner of this challenge.
39:57Your looks will be featured in a Tressemme ad in Elle magazine.
40:02Christian, because you were the team leader,
40:04you will also have immunity and can't be eliminated in the next challenge.
40:09You both can leave the runway.
40:16I want to win them all, but the challenge really meant something.
40:20I'm really excited, and it's great to be an Elle.
40:22Being young, I don't have that much press yet.
40:28Victoria, Jillian, good work.
40:31You're both in.
40:32You can leave the runway.
40:34Ricky, you're in.
40:42You can leave the runway.
40:51Sweet Pea, you're in.
40:53You can leave the runway.
40:54Rami, Kit, one of you will be out.
41:10Rami, your avant-garde look wasn't dramatic.
41:13Unfortunately, the only drama that we saw was between you and Sweet Pea.
41:17And as a team leader, that is your fault.
41:21Kit, we wanted you to give us something fashion-forward.
41:24But instead, you took us backwards.
41:26But not in a good way.
41:33Kit, you're out.
41:36That means that means, Rami, you're in, you can leave the runway.
41:40You guys, if I make you cry, I'm going to start crying.
41:53I honestly don't believe in regret, and I have no regrets.
42:07I went out, and I went out big.
42:10Oh, I need to send you upstairs to clean up your space, okay?
42:13Let's do it.
42:15Bye, Kit.
42:17Oh, my God.
42:17I'm really, really sad that I'm leaving, but I have two full suitcases of friendship and success.
42:27It's unfortunate for me, but it's also unfortunate for the competition that I'm out.
42:32Okay, here we go.
42:39Can you take a step forward?
42:41The Trust Me Knight is pretty amazing.
42:43Give it an attitude, actually.
42:45Team Fierce, oh, my God, are you joking?
42:47It was total destiny.
42:51Next on Project Runway.
42:53Behind this door, you'll find the raw materials for your challenge.
42:58I don't even want to know what's on the other side.
43:01Fabulous.
43:02If you don't understand the situation by now, you're refusing to learn.
43:06Are you all right, Gillian?
43:08I'm really starting to feel the weight of all of this pressure.
43:12I don't know anyone who would really want to look like that.
43:15It looks a little home-sown.
43:17You were not inspired by this at all.
43:19This is like a roller coaster.
43:20You don't know where to go.
43:22Visit bravotv.com to learn more about the fashions you've seen on today's show.
43:26Bye-bye.
43:36Bye-bye.
43:38.
