00:00This afternoon will be one of those days where it's sunshine one moment and then it's raining
00:05the next.
00:06That's all because we're expecting a day of sunshine and showers.
00:09Now across central areas, parts of the east and southeast, it will probably be mostly
00:13dry, plenty of sunny spells, but even by the afternoon we could catch one or two showers
00:17here.
00:18The bulk of the showers will be across western areas where it could be quite breezy.
00:22We could also see some heavy showers with some hail and thunder mixed in there and if
00:25you do catch any heavy downpours it could turn quite gusty for a time.
00:29But there will be sunny spells in between.
00:32Temperatures around about average for the time of year, highs reaching around 20 degrees
00:35Celsius across the southeast, around the mid-teens elsewhere.
00:41Through into the evening we'll see a bit of a rinse and repeat in our weather, a mix of
00:45clear skies and also some showers, some more persistent showers pushing across Northern
00:49Ireland overnight into Scotland, parts of Northern England as we head through the early hours
00:54of Saturday.
00:55So if you're up early during the weekend you could catch some quite heavy downpours.
00:59Isolated showers too across parts of the south and a mixture of some dry spells, but plenty
01:03of cloud which means temperatures won't drop too low, lows reaching around 9 to 10 degrees
01:08Celsius.
01:11For the start of the weekend it's going to be a fairly similar day to what we'll see on
01:15Friday.
01:16Some sunny, brighter spells, but keep your raincoat close because there's a chance of showers.
01:19Once again across western areas as they push in through, moving their way eastward, so
01:23at times central areas or parts of the east and southeast could catch some of these showers
01:28as they drift their way in from the west.
01:30The old one or two heavy with some hail and thunder, but plenty of bright spells in between,
01:35highs reaching 19 degrees Celsius.
01:37Saturday is probably the better day of the weekend.
01:41Yes, into the evening those showers will continue, but eventually we'll start to see a ridge of
01:45high pressure ease away any showery outbreaks.
01:48And that means with plenty of clear skies overnight, it will turn cooler, quite fresh by the time
01:53we reach Sunday morning.
01:54But low pressure not too far away, pushing in from the west, bringing in some heavy outbreaks
01:59of rain and also some strong winds.
02:01But only really starting to push into parts of the southwest during the early hours of
02:05the morning.
02:06Elsewhere, it's going to be quite a dry and bright start with some sunshine, but through
02:09the day we'll see those conditions start to deteriorate.
02:12Heavy band of rain pushing its way northeastwards, it's going to turn quite gusty along this band
02:16of rain too.
02:17A chance we could even see some gales in exposed regions.
02:20And even behind this, once this area of rain has cleared, there's set to be some quite
02:24heavy downpours, heavy showers behind it.
02:27So it's going to be quite a windy day.
02:29Outbreaks of rain, staying mostly dry across the far northeast of Scotland, but even here
02:33later we'll start to see heavy outbreaks of rain.
02:36And actually it'll probably feel a little warmer, a bit more humid, highs reaching around
02:3920 degrees Celsius, but this obviously being offset by the unsettled weather.
02:45Now later Sunday through into the early hours of Monday, that's where we're expecting the
02:49strongest winds, so a chance of severe gales across the southern half of the country.
02:53So a Met Office warning has been issued for these areas.
02:56Keep an eye on our website and our social media channels for any details on those.
03:00Low pressure still sitting to the north as we head into Monday, and into next week it
03:05still looks to remain unsettled with some strong winds and some showers and also some longer
03:10spells of rain.
03:11So do keep an eye out for the warning details later Sunday through into Monday, but otherwise
03:15if you want any more weather updates don't forget to stay subscribed.
