00:00Charlie Kirk is being remembered tonight as a hugely influential, charismatic, and engaging

00:09individual committed to civil discourse and the open exchange of ideas. Correspondent Mark Meredith

00:16looks back at the life of Charlie Kirk. Good evening, Mark.

00:20Brad, good evening to you. Charlie Kirk's death is being called a watershed moment or

00:24even a turning point for the country. The 31-year-old political activist had a massive

00:28following, both online and in the corridors of power here in Washington. Before becoming

00:34a household name in conservative politics, Charlie Kirk was a teenager growing up in the

00:39Chicago suburbs. He told The Daily Caller in 2019 he knew early on politics mattered.

00:45I was always naturally conservative, loved America, loved the values that our country stood for,

00:50and I never understood why you'd want to deviate from that. Kirk thought he'd end up at West Point,

00:55the Army's military academy. But after being denied admission, he chose to start something for

01:00himself. It's that old adage, one door closes, another door opens. Of course, that's correct.

01:05In summer 2012, Turning Point USA was born. What started small later became a political juggernaut,

01:12a conservative youth activist organization now operating on 3,500 high school and college campuses.

01:18Kirk explained what drove him in his first Fox appearance 13 years ago.

01:23A lot of kids are feeling the effects of what we like to call, you know, with the Washington

01:26economy, with a lot of debt plummeting small business, with higher regulation and high taxes.

01:31As the Tea Party movement evolved, Turning Point USA grew. So did its influence. The AP writing

01:37Turning Point events became more ornate, taking on a nightclub atmosphere with strobe lights,

01:42pyrotechnics, and thousands of young conservatives in attendance. Kirk endorsed then-candidate Donald

01:48Trump in 2016 and later worked to reelect him in 2020.

01:52I believe it's imperative we get the president reelected. In fact, I think he's going to get

01:55reelected. As Trump later regrouped for 2024, Kirk continued to build an empire and a family. He

02:01married his wife, Erica, in 2021 and later became a dad of two. Trump himself thanked Kirk for staying

02:07loyal amid a year of chaos. And I want to express my tremendous gratitude to Charlie Kirk. He's really

02:13an amazing guy. With Trump now back in power, Kirk remained active, speaking out constantly about the

02:19conservative movement. There's a revival happening in this country right now. Tonight, tributes continue

02:24to pour in for a man many believe helped change the course of U.S. political history. To my great

02:29fellow Americans, I am filled with grief and anger at the heinous assassination of Charlie Kirk on a

02:35college campus in Utah. Charlie inspired millions and tonight, all who knew him and loved him.

02:43are united in shock and horror. Charlie was a patriot who devoted his life to the cause of

02:51open debate and the country that he loved so much, the United States of America. He fought for liberty,

02:58democracy, justice, and the American people. He's a martyr for truth and freedom, and there's never been

03:05anyone who was so respected. Charlie was also a man of deep, deep faith. And we take comfort in the

03:15knowledge that he is now at peace with God in heaven. Our prayers are with his wife, Erica, the two

03:22young, beloved children, and his entire family who he loved more than anything in the world. We ask God to

03:30watch over them in this terrible hour of heartache and pain. This is a dark moment for America. Charlie

03:39Kirk traveled the nation, joyfully engaging with everyone interested in good faith debate. His mission

03:47was to bring young people into the political process, which he did better than anybody ever, to share his love

03:56of country and to spread the simple words of common sense. On campuses nationwide, he championed his

04:04ideas with courage, logic, humor, and grace. It's a long past time for all Americans and the media

04:11to confront the fact that violence and murder are the tragic consequence of demonizing those with whom

04:19you disagree day after day, year after year, in the most hateful and despicable way possible. For years,

04:27those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the world's worst

04:35mass murderers and criminals. This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism

04:42that we're seeing in our country today, and it must stop right now. My administration will find each and

04:51every one of those who contributed to this atrocity and to other political violence, including the

04:58organizations that fund it and support it, as well as those who go after our judges, law enforcement

05:05officials, and everyone else who brings order to our country. From the attack on my life in Butler,

05:12Pennsylvania last year, which killed a husband and father to the attacks on ICE agents, to the

05:19vicious murder of a health care executive in the streets of New York, to the shooting of House

05:24Majority Leader Steve Scalise and three others, radical left political violence has hurt too many

05:31innocent people and taken too many lives. Tonight, I ask all Americans to commit themselves to the

05:38American values for the American values for which Charlie Kirk lived and died, the values of free

05:44speech, citizenship, the rule of law, and the patriotic devotion and love of God. Charlie was the best of

05:53America, and the monster who attacked him was attacking our whole country. An assassin tried to silence him

06:00with a bullet, but he failed because together we will ensure that his voice, his message, and his legacy

06:07will live on for countless generations to come. Today, because of this heinous act, Charlie's voice has

06:15become bigger and grander than ever before, and it's not even close. May God bless his memory, may God watch

06:24over his family, and may God bless the United States of America. Thank you.

06:30The spiritual battle is coming to the West, and the enemies are, wokeism or Marxism, combining with

06:37Islamism to go after what we call the American way of life. And the American way of life is very simple.

06:43I want to be able to get married, buy a home, have kids, allow them to ride their bike till the sun goes

06:49down, send them to a good school, have a low-crime neighborhood, not to have my kid be taught the

06:56lesbian, gay, transgender garbage in their school, while also, while also not having them have to hear

07:07the Muslim call to prayer five times a day. That's important. We want the American way of life, which

07:16is, by the way, Christendom. Christians, our sacrifice, our toil, our vision, the outgrowth

07:24of the scriptures gave us Western civilization. And this is where I think is a great rally and cry.

07:29Doesn't matter if you're Hispanic, doesn't matter if you're Asian, doesn't matter if you're black or

07:33white. Everybody, if you are Christian, and Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior, these two threats

07:38are combining forces to come after us, and it's time that the church stands and rises up against it.

07:44Political radicalism needs a catalyst. Political radicalism does not come out of peace, prosperity,

07:50rising wages, stable families, church attendance, and happy people. Happy people, grateful people

07:57do not get behind Vladimir Lenin, and they certainly don't get behind Chavez or Castro.

08:01That's right.

08:02People that own nothing, that feel like their property is diminishing, they don't have property,

08:06or their dollar is diminishing in value, they start to look for alternatives.

08:10And so the political project in front of us as conservatives should be, how do we actually

08:15de-radicalize the country in the next couple of years? That's my obsession. That's why I say I try

08:21not to think about all this other stuff because it's just, you know, it's such brain space.

08:24My number one obsession is I know what is coming next.

08:28If you want to see the light at the end of this very dark tunnel, listen closely. Like you, my heart

08:34is filled with sadness and rage. The reactive part of me wants to unleash hell on every radicalized

08:39activist out there. But the wiser part of me, the side that understands the vast difference between

08:45reacting and responding, reminds me to take a deep breath and to remember. Reacting is exactly what

08:53they want us to do. They need us so emotional, so enraged, that we look away from the evidence

08:59now emerging. Evidence that exposes their crimes against humanity. Whether it's newly leaked emails

09:07proving that Dr. Fauci lied under oath, the bombshell study comparing the unvaccinated to the vaccinated,

09:13the long-awaited disclosures from the Epstein files, or the countless other exposés now being

09:19dragged into the light, they want us distracted. They want us to dominate the news cycle with hateful

09:26rhetoric and physical acts of revenge. Do not take the bait. They are masters of manipulation,

09:35practitioners of dark magic. And like any illusionist, they rely on sleight of hand. While

09:41one hand dazzles your attention, the other sets the trick. Let's put an end to the illusion by thinking

09:48and behaving wisely and strategically. By being one step ahead of those trying hard to lead us into

09:54hell. By grounding our minds and our hearts in the unshakable knowing that in the end, the light

10:02always defeats the dark. We are entering the great purge when that which is poisonous to the human

10:10organism is puked into the sewage where it belongs. In the same way your body rejects consuming toxins,

10:17we are collectively ridding our bodies of the poisonous programming we've been ingesting for decades.

10:24This is not the time to break down. This is a moment for us to rise up consciously, strategically, and wisely.

10:31We are on the precipice of historic change. Hold strong. Remain vigilant. Your most effective

10:41weapon is your voice. Use it, and use it with care and precision. United we stand.

11:17in majesties above the fruited plain. America, America, God shed His grace on thee. His grace on

11:41crown thy good, with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea.
