12:17 - Race Starts (Round 22)
Transcript
00:00seven rounds down in 2025 four to go four sprint races to come at this weekend and two riders
00:10aiming to continue their titanic title tussle and we're underway good start from scott redding not
00:18too bad from car ride off the front row roy skinner mired as we come down in towards the
00:22first corner look at andrew urban going for the outside line on board the honda and sweeps around
00:26right though menacing in second place but it is going to be scott redding that leads the way
00:35oh someone's out in the background there at the melbourne loop that's charlie nesbitt
00:42danikin slides up the inside
00:45well he pounces he runs a bit deep though and skinner's going to try and retaliate on the exit
00:53lighted by handy irwin to the party kent is the victor of all of that he ends up in third place
00:58but does he get it in too hot he does tommy bribewell he's all over the back of brad bray and pouncing
01:04on him coming down into the fog yes is the door now being opened here for leon haslin has brad brad
01:10got a problem
01:15it needs a black flag quick because that's going to be getting on his back wheel yeah oh there we go oh
01:20don't look at it goes down at red gate we might see an early red flag red flag is out that will be a
01:27resulting what was already a quick one is even quicker and it will be a victory for scott redding
01:33a second bsb win of the season for donington park's prodigal son yesterday the youngest ever
01:47grand prix winner at the time in the 125cc race here way back in 2008 scott reddin could make history
01:54again today with the unique prospect of four wins in a weekend a distinct possibility with three sprint
02:01races ahead of us here today it's a challenge for the riders it's a challenge for the pundits too
02:06but these are the days that james hayden and shane burn have spent all winter training for welcome
02:11along great to have you with us and fellas it is a distinct possibility for scott to go and do four
02:15in a week and this uh today shane because of the apparent comfort that he won the race in yesterday
02:21yeah but for me um i don't think that scott had any apparent current comfort sorry i think that um
02:27kyle ride would have been looking at his pit board he would have seen that bradley ray was struggling
02:31scott reddin at the moment isn't a championship contender for kyle there's two points for a race
02:36win the difference between first and second and i think kyle basically just sat there kind of on
02:40cruise control and thought to himself do you know what brad's down in eighth ninth tenth or whatever
02:44i'm scoring points over my main championship rival scott like i said you know he's coming to the
02:48season halfway through he's not going to be a championship contender unless he wins every single
02:52race and there's a bit of bad luck for some others so uh i think it was kyle just playing it smart to be
02:56fair i think kyle will be happy to take three second places today if scott's ahead of him i mean
03:01judging on yesterday's yes it looks like he would um i think it'll be slightly different you know i just
03:05spoke to steve rogers brads didn't look comfortable yesterday we watched him in the race and he he just
03:10didn't look himself didn't look as it's just his natural normal way he looks on a motorcycle they've
03:15changed his chassis they've got a different engine you know so that is a completely different bike today
03:19we can just see him here and it's very rare that you see him ever going backwards so i think he'll be a
03:24different proposition you know personally i thought scott would look really good he's looked good all
03:28weekend and you know i think that you know he knows it's a really good opportunity for him to
03:33to win races so i think he's still going to be the man to beat cedar from this clip there we just
03:37watched of bradley one of the problems yesterday was that off the start the bike the temperature
03:41went through the roof and uh you know it was running so so hot compared to what it should run and the
03:45hotter the bikes run the less horsepower they have and uh he just turned into a little bit of a
03:49sitting duck and you said it then didn't you it's not very often we see brad go backwards so
03:53fingers crossed all the work they've done overnight with our race race team we'll see him go forwards
03:56also i was at the loop watching this morning in warm-up and i'll tell you what having said that
04:00car ride looked absolutely awesome there you know like when he's just he looked really up for you
04:04know sometimes you see a rider you think you know he was quickest this morning so yeah you might find
04:09he's made a little change overnight and he you know he's the man he sits on poles so uh i think we'll have
04:13a much tighter race than we did yesterday yeah car ride on pole there he is going for a little comfort
04:18break i think uh we won't watch uh and brad ray starts just behind him from fourth on the grid as
04:23well so it's going to be fascinating there's top class two-wheeled action wherever you look across our
04:28various platforms today including the final stage of the tour of britain it's set to be an emotional
04:33day for great thomas as he rides for the very last time he finishes his illustrious career in his home
04:39city of cardiff uh that final stage gets underway on discovery plus at 11 40 and in la vuelta mark
04:46soleil claimed victory yesterday whilst tom pidcock crossed the line just behind gc leader jonas
04:52finger guard in farapona uh the final grand tour of the year continues with stage 15 live on tnt sports
04:58three from 1 30. and here at donington park a pack schedule we'll get things underway very shortly
05:06with race two they're all sprint races here this weekend we'll be on quest discovery plus and tnt sports
05:11five from one o'clock for bsb race three at 1 30 that will be followed by the super stocks and the
05:18talent cup then we'll move on to tnt sports four and the other channels as well uh for the super
05:23sport feature race bsb race three and the british super teams race two right let's get stuck in then
05:31james whittam is out on the grid behind us somewhere james cheers boys i'm actually about rule three i
05:36wanted to just have a word with this man this is danny kent danny uh got false yesterday but right
05:42in the mix for a podium i don't think yesterday had much for kyle or for scott but right in the
05:48mix for a podium there yesterday yeah yeah i felt good with a bike just uh first couple laps i was um
05:54i just didn't get to be quick enough um we actually the bike changed to rain to the rain map on
05:59lap two which um completely changed my ideal it's not ideal completely changed my engine braking um
06:04so it took me a couple laps to get used to that um but yeah no feeling good just need to get a good
06:08start eighth is not ideal so i need to get my hours out of those first few laps good luck thanks
06:13yeah i think that if danny can get away with him he's definitely got pace around here certainly the
06:18fastest stuff we saw him make some moves down into the old hairpin that were really uh kind of
06:22confident and you're pushing the front down there so he's definitely on the fastest stuff uh got a lot
06:27of confidence in the front and that yamaha so right second row and second in the championship uh brad
06:34not being your ideal weekend with one thing and another none of your fault yes it's been
06:39challenging that's for sure we've had a few things not go our way but uh yeah it better today uh
06:44starting fourth lesson let's see if we can move a little bit further up you've been struggling to
06:49get the feeling from your bike yet at the beginning of the year you've made some changes last night new
06:53engine so have you been out and warm up on it did it feel like usable yeah yeah no it's just uh
07:00we missed all of fp1 uh missed a bit fp2 um just a weekend with uh with issues at the minute so we've
07:07we've lost a lot of track time and just need to uh need to try and build us out today go help
07:13yeah and there's yeah i won't put it past him actually to be somewhere near the podium in this
07:16they've had a lot of issues with the bike uh i think possibly it sounds like from what they were telling
07:22me uh maybe a ceiling red issue yesterday or a cylinder head gasket right front row rory third
07:30on the grid third yesterday very good we were impressed thank you yeah good day yesterday nice
07:35to give the cheshire mullins chikati guys a podium again after a wee while were you losing a bit of
07:39rear grip though we saw a couple of big no i'm not going to say moments you didn't look like you're
07:43going to crash but definitely it was sideways a bit i wouldn't say i was losing rear grip i just had no
07:47rear grip straight from the off it was just uh yeah it was consistently bad so uh yeah we made some
07:53changes for warm-up we made some changes again for the race just now so uh yeah we're going to
07:58see how it goes i'll give it my all i had to had to fight for that one yesterday with danny but uh
08:03yeah more again more of the same today i feel hello thank you yeah we saw a couple of times
08:08weird places like the top of crane and when the bike's around each side you're going over a little
08:12bit of a crest and the thing's just kind of letting go as i said it didn't look kind of dangerous
08:16from it had it all under control but definitely looked like it wasn't going forward middle of the
08:20front row you're a emphatic winner from yesterday scott redding uh looked i don't want to say this
08:27but your win yesterday looked pretty steady to me hitting all your points didn't look in any danger
08:32well i had a couple of little moments um the track uh feeling changed a bit yesterday in the race and
08:38i had no reference so i thought i had a little bit of a dodgy tire but turned out it was track
08:43condition so i was trying to build into it really um and tried to do the same today uh carl obviously
08:48on pole he'll try and get away and try and hang on what you wants another start like you had just
08:53it's a filter that was dynamite it's probably the best of my career so good luck thank you
08:59all right i actually don't know how long we've got left all right i got a minute left uh good race
09:05yesterday uh as normal you figured it all out you didn't really have that much at the end
09:11for scott but you knew that was anything to do with fuel logs it looked like you lost a little
09:15bit of something just um just feeling with the bike james um i knew i was in trouble because the
09:20bike felt quite quite good at the start um and i knew that then it was going to get worse normally
09:25for me if it feels quite bad at the start it comes to me yeah so uh i knew i was in trouble i just tried
09:29to be clever really because the gap was going up to third and i knew scott was going to come good at
09:33some point as he did in qualifying and practice so the race was always going to be a second maybe a
09:37first if i dug deep at the start but just too many risks so yeah it was a good race to build on for
09:42today good luck thank you yeah and i think one of the things well kyle figures everything out kids
09:47really intelligent with his racing and he knew from his lapboard that actually his championship rival
09:53brad ray was mired down in ninth yesterday with bike issues so perfect for kyle's championship going
09:58to be another chess game this one yeah well they do say the championship is a marathon not a sprint but
10:04not the case today we've got three of them it's full throttle action live from donington park bsb
10:10race two is a 12 lapper and it's coming up after the break
10:2124 hours ago scott redding took his second victory of the season whilst kyle ride extended his lead in
10:27the riders championship up to 11 points as bradley ray's title championships faltered following
10:34technical problems in the race here is how it looks going into the second of four races for bennett's
10:39bsb this weekend right at the top of the table an 11 point advantage now over bradley ray then you've
10:44got leon haslam rory skinner who was on the podium here yesterday just ahead of danny kent those two
10:50tied on points and let's get you through the grid then for this second race of the weekend kyle
10:55ride quickest lap in race one yesterday sees him on pole position with redding and skinner alongside
11:00bradley ray new engine in that bike again for the second race ahead of andy irwin and max cook on
11:05row two row three tommy bridewell danny kent and leon haslam on the grid and then on the
11:11fringes of the top ten you've got chris lidden josh brooks and glenn irwin who continues to make
11:15progress on board the yamaha charlie nesbit dnf yesterday with scott swan and storm stacy then
11:20rogers talbert billy mcconnell john mcphee with richard kerr and luke hedger alongside david todd peter hickman
11:26jamie davis and jamie van sickelrus completing the 25 rider strong field it's going to be an
11:32interesting one this james whitton i'm looking forward to it what do you see i i i can't see
11:38anybody giving scott redding much bother if he can make a start the way he did yesterday uh
11:45car ride's made some changes he said the front end of the bike wasn't just how he wanted it towards
11:49the end i think that's something to do with fuel load uh in a race even a short race they're going to
11:53use over uh sort of eight to ten kilograms uh of fueling weight so that makes a big difference
12:01certainly to him it loves the front end to be just how he wants it especially uh on the fastest stuff
12:05down here the old air finger in the curves etc so i think kyle is the one that can take it to scott if
12:10anybody free flag then is waved at the back 12 laps of action for the first of three races today
12:15here at donington park red lights are on lights are out not a bad start then from car ride not bad also
12:22from scott redding as they drag down towards the first corner they are side by side look at rory
12:26skinner as well as max cook on the inside cook then slots himself into about fifth place but it's
12:31scott redding that leads on the hager pbm ducati with car ride into second and rory skinner coming
12:37down through hollywood in third yeah all the front road made a good launch really kyle's having a look
12:41up the inside brave move with that but that puts scott back up the inside brilliant move from kyle
12:46ride that beautiful all right then leads coming out of the old hairpin for the first time brad ray
12:51there in fourth place he's maintained where he started in this one let's see what progress he can
12:56make the team have chucked two engines at that bike this weekend they've chucked the kitchen sink
13:00and all the cabinets at it today as well they've had a couple of really kind of minor things that had a
13:05a major effect a head gasket was leaking the back over it and it went steady in the race yesterday but
13:11also they've had a valve stick in the guide which is really really unusual nothing to do with the team
13:17that coming down towards the fox yeses for the first time christian hidden with danny kent right
13:22behind him that's a battle for seventh place they make their way through nice and cleanly uh on that
13:27corner but car ride is that leads what about scott redding what can he do in second place hidden looking
13:32to the inside line there of danny kent to the two aj and steel stock kawazakis into sixth and seventh
13:38hidden's made three places up from where he started so a great start for the number 21 yeah i chatted
13:43with christian uh and uh max they said they had to get away with the front guys because they don't
13:48really have the straight line speed to put themselves in a position to work their way forward
13:52and that's true it is true if you've got a slightly steady about you can do the lap time on your own but
13:57you can't pass anybody so down to the first corner you can see right and ready already trying to put a bit of
14:01daylight between themselves and rory skinner they come down through hollywood there's about four or
14:05five bite lengths yep all other things been equal i see these two as the pair to be uh i think
14:15it does look like they have the pace yeah great corner speed for scott coming down
14:21through the crater curves he's so confident with the front end uh of that bike i've noticed that
14:26lets the break of and lets it roll in yeah loves riding this uh hager pvm ducati does scott reading
14:32he does he likes riding it here he does yeah he said that uh catwell park it was a bit of a challenge
14:37it's a bit like riding a bicycle around your living room uh at that circuit compared to here wide open
14:42fast and flowing it's a bit more him isn't it it is a bit more uh kind of motor gp wilton for my esk here
14:47than the camera or tommy right well on the inside of max cook down to the foggy essence that might open
14:53the door here for danny kent to join in on the action as well they come down in towards the melbourne
14:58loop this is a battle for uh sixth place that's going on got uh head there on the inside of cook yeah
15:05disappointing start for for danny kent number 52 there and honestly he has podium potential he
15:11could be he should be right up there really just threaded the needle there that was a dangerous
15:18situation got in too hot have to swap to the outside and really at that point you're just hoping
15:23there's only there in your path yeah still learning the bike is glenn erwin on board that yamaha after
15:29being on a jucati for uh so many years team said they found a set up direction in the warm-up at
15:34cadwell park a couple of weeks ago and he's got a bit more of a base to work from there but the
15:39results you know still trying to get himself up inside the top five and so on on board that night
15:43for some competitions yamaha would be a strong result there for uh glenn erwin yeah brad ray definitely
15:50got a bit more pace and looks a bit more confident in this one yeah looking good bradley ray finished
15:54ninth position yesterday after we said about those technical problems you can see him not too far off the
15:59back of rory skinner as we come over the rise and into coppice as we said they chucked a couple of
16:03different motors in that one they've actually gone back to a used engine it's got 900 kilometers or so
16:07on it according to that and that's quite a lot uh complete refreshes probably uh about 1200 to 1500
16:13kilometers yeah so uh a bit of a used engine in that bike but certainly doesn't seem to be slowing
16:19it down too much and it's important here for bradley ray because we've got carl ride leading the
16:22race i mean very early doors but this championship on the line the championship yeah that's it well
16:28rory skinner third place for him it's complaining of a lack of rear grip in the sprint yesterday yeah
16:32but we noticed it as well you know place weird places top of the crater uh i mean you're expecting
16:38coming out of place like copies but there's some real odd times when the bike just wasn't driving oh
16:43that's uh christian a little bit wide at the final corner gathering it all up quite nicely he's got
16:47tommy bribewell and danny kent ready to pounce and he oh oh that's billy mcconnell that's billy mcconnell yeah
16:52that's down at the final corner isn't it so goddard's pretty commonplace for a front ender to wash out
16:58off camber corner and sadly that's two dnfs in two races yeah for billy mcconnell that four and a
17:05twelve were on though carl riding is that leads half a second the advantage let's have a look at what
17:10happened then to billy mack in the background of your shots in a little bit hot bit wide offline exactly in a
17:17bit hot in a bit wide it's a bit bumpy there as yeah well to hold on to it though going on to it
17:23you don't want the bike flipping over even at that pace that's probably about a 40 mile an hour crash
17:28but you can do a lot of damage if it sort of the tyres digging and it flips over yeah technical
17:32problem yesterday for the uh australian yeah break problem i think it was yeah thanks for getting stopped
17:37quite nicely down to the first corner he only got it stopped because he hit them the barrier was there
17:43they did well nonetheless he did he did yeah yeah chris linden then with tommy bridewell danny kent right
17:48behind here been really impressed with the aj steel stock kawasaki boys this year in general uh but at
17:54times in football and that's uh i've been really impressed with the kawasaki boys the only ones on
18:01kawasaki's the back's a little bit slow slightly longer than two but they're doing good work on it and the
18:07team's working well well it's about to ask about that because as you said there's nobody else running
18:10kawasaki's in bsb so how do you get a reference point you can't uh and that's the problem somebody
18:16like christian has ridden lots of different bikes max cook has only ever ridden the kawasaki in the
18:20superbike class so he's got to be thinking oh well you know if i added the cat it but maybe that's not
18:25the case the kawasaki is clearly a lovely bike to ride we saw with what max was doing on it and able to
18:31do on it and get away with it thruxton that's got to be about this doing what you want and giving
18:35your feeling tommy bridewell is looking like he's starting to make some shapes on board that honda
18:39as well he was spewing after friday really unhappy with the bike and the directions thought they found
18:45a way forward that cabwell said don't touch the bike don't change a thing got it here rolled it out
18:49of the truck at uh fp1 and said felt like a different bike exactly yeah yeah yeah that's what he told me
18:55normally you get a bike into some kind of window of a base setting you know how it works you get to a
19:00circuit yes to cater for the idiosyncrasies of that circuit you have to make a few tweaks maybe
19:05a different springs fork things whatever damping settings but actually it is almost the same bike
19:12not with tommy i don't know it's him at the bike or the team or what but he's the sort of clutching at
19:17straws most meetings now down into the melbourne loop we go with car ride bit deep there did you see how
19:23the difference in kind of line and speed scott redding just lets the brake off and lets the bike
19:28decelerate towards the sort of apex kyle tight tries to get the bike turned a little bit early on
19:34lovely late apex for kyle coming out of the last corner there yeah rory skinner in third place
19:39there as well just keep a watch on him with bradley ray trying to pounce for the podium halfway stage
19:43we are then of this race last time around right was about three tenths of a second slower than scott
19:48really yeah has he got something in his back pocket i mean we were talking about this in the race
19:51yesterday james the pace that redding had in practice was absolutely phenomenal he said nine
19:57laps in the 127 yeah and within about a tenth of a second of each lap so that that's very consistent
20:02around here and we watched him doing it and he never missed an apex never missed a mark he was
20:08inch perfect let's have a look at scott swan as he runs on down at goddards yeah did the job just right
20:15keep the brakes on until you get to the grass release as you get to the grass sit the bike up so you're not on
20:19anything like any lean 18th position for him just behind uh john mcfee now as well mcfee really
20:25unlucky yes they brought out the red flag after the uh problem he had with the bike what looks to be
20:29leaking coolant down it was good it was definitely cool yeah a hose had uh had broken it does happen
20:36hang on got a slippery surface flag here down at uh the foggy s's as well normally if it's there it's
20:42because somebody's run across the gravel and sort of spilled a bit onto the track well that calls the
20:47red flag in the f900r cup main event race a few minutes ago yeah but there's a lot of it there
20:52yeah big big clear up operation ongoing yeah so halfway stage we are then of this race carl
20:57ryden is that leads 11 points to remind you in the championship the advantage he has over bradley
21:01ray who currently sits in fourth place it's interesting just looking at skinner there in the background he
21:05takes a really wide sweeping line yeah he's getting back to a really squared off late apex what that
21:13does you're a little bit slow mid corner you've got a little bit more turning but then it allows you
21:18to open the throttle because you've squared off you straight in that exit pretty even stevens now between
21:23the laps of ryde and reading 27 twos for both of them last time around so right getting the hurry up and
21:29starting to build out an advantage danny kemp meanwhile sits behind leon haslam let's see what
21:35haslam can do for this one there is max cook with storm stacy amazing so far for storm stacy yeah we've
21:42not heard much of him he's still selling his hats though we've seen plenty of them maybe that's where
21:47he's been on the uh on the hat sales stand in the trade area two for a tenner right there for uh the
21:54storm two of the younger riders max school can storm stacy yeah it's interesting as well because
21:59obviously storm's been the sort of one of the standout performers on that bmw this season but
22:03he's on the 2024 bike compared to the likes of hickman and todd they're on the 25 bike yeah the weird
22:08thing is the 25 bike technically or potentially has more power which you'd think be a good thing
22:13but sometimes on the british circuits it's not on the lower powered slightly bike you're looking at now
22:18the bathoms bmw the 24 bike is generally quicker than the newer bikes that should have more power and
22:24the speed trap so yeah normally the the newer bike you would think will be improved but not in this
22:30case no it's interesting looking at storm stacy's riding style you've noticed he's got a front brake
22:34caliper on his rear brake and a front brake disc he's got a hideously big rear brake set up because he
22:41uses a lot of rear brake not with his right foot which is uh the normal place it's with his left hand
22:47they call it a scooter brake and he uses a lot of pressure that's all measured from the telemetry on the bike and it
22:52pushes big pressure through that rear brake yeah 13th for him yesterday in race one for uh storm
22:57stacy 14th currently here in race two and look at the top two ride and reading they've built out
23:01enough of an advantage to have a little battle amongst one another now up to 1.8 seconds as we
23:06come through in towards mclean's and you get the impression that reading it's a case of when or not
23:10if he's gonna pounce yeah it's definitely when not if uh and the the person who's gonna know that is uh
23:17kyle ride he'll be looking at his uh in fact in this position you look at each other's lapboard
23:23because you'll want to know where people are behind and so uh you'll they'll definitely be having a
23:29spy at the the lapboards over the start and finish and kyle i know it's coming yeah let's see how this
23:35one is going to play out then 27 one and two for those riders respectively they're about three or four
23:41tenths of a second quicker than those behind they're just building out that advantage ray still sitting in
23:45fourth place with andy erwin not too far adrift on board uh that honda as well come down in towards
23:54the final corner again wider line there for kyle ride just yeah i think that was a little bit wider
23:59than even even he wanted mid-corner but he did manage to make that there apex come down in towards
24:05turn one we go and reading now closer than ever onto the back of car ride is he going to try and set
24:10something up coming down the craners and maybe into the old hair i think he'll struggle there because kyle's
24:14good there and the yamaha that's kind of yamaha territory is that the faster more flowing stuff
24:18the bike holds line yeah look at that the speed that reading carries down there is just phenomenal
24:22you can see him sort of coming out wide and you'd think it would compromise his line into the old
24:26hair but he just picks it up so nicely as he's leaning on the front end of that hager pbm ducati
24:32and as we come in towards mclean's it's a dandare move to try and think about it but maybe on the last
24:37lap if you're getting a bit desperate lap nine though nothing to worry about here yeah i think when the move
24:42comes i think it's going to be a run out of copies uh for scott reading and then up the inside into
24:47foggy asses i would think he's got the unique accolade of possibly taking four victories here
24:53this weekend as well he's already done one and uh in terms of the second one as you can see right on
24:59the rear ferry of that nitrous competitions yamaha well it's never been done before because there hasn't
25:03been four races in a weekend and it's unlikely it'd be done again certainly until next year because if
25:07they like this format they might run it again but they're not going to run it every weekend or ride
25:11a little bit wide you say about the difference in lines there reading just a bit tighter on the apex
25:15isn't he through the melbourne yeah and he rolls it in a bit quicker kyle is trying to straighten that
25:20exit out yeah it's deceiving that corner you see the front end just chattering away as they come through
25:26the final corner a lot of curve on the exit for kyle right look at the pit board for redding as he
25:31blast his way down towards the first corner v4 engine in that ducati inline four in the yamaha but
25:38it's a cross-plane crank so it makes a snarly growly sort of sound it actually sounds like a v4 and
25:43the the reason it does that is it fires in a really unconventional order it's not the smoothest running
25:48engine they have to therefore run it's not dynamically balancing the cylinders so they've got to run a
25:53balance shaft so through in towards the left hander in towards the swan's curve we go
25:59in terms of the fastest laps as well that would of course define the grid for race three coming
26:04up a little bit later on in the moment it'll be kyle ryde who'll be starting this one on pole position
26:08for a second race consecutively with the same front row redding and skinner alongside it'll be ray irwin
26:14and then christian idden at the moment on the second row of the grid let's see whether that is set to
26:19change a little bit out of the shape coming out of copies there for for kyle ryde gas it up all okay legs
26:25are dangling as they're starting to push the limits of these machines they're starting to move
26:29around a little bit of grip at the back but that's all right you've got to manage that as you go on
26:34sometimes a rider will have a different map where he can he can cut to a different the power is
26:39delivered in a different way as the tire wears yeah you can see they're really starting to push
26:44there'll be two laps to go as we start the next one then down in towards goddards and reading just
26:48pacing himself biding his time just looks like he's stalking a little bit doesn't it yeah as he said
26:53a case of when and not if it's going to happen surely for this attack of the race lead and the question is
26:57has karl got anything left in his locker to retaliate let's have a look at what's happening
27:02here this is glenn irwin versus uh danny kent yeah that's danny kent and that is a battle for ninth
27:10place so erwin having made up a little bit of ground he was outside of the top ten a handful of laps ago
27:15on board that uh second nitrous competitions yamaha you can see the gap that's quite pronounced there
27:19between rory skinner who'll be on for third place here i'll tell you where it's got ready looks really
27:24quick and he might have a look uh as the race goes on he's down into the old air pin he just
27:28rolls it in there that's that that's going to rely on the fact that uh kyle doesn't defend in any way
27:36but he looks quick there to scott yeah it seems to love taking a lot of call speech with the second part
27:40of crane that's what he does yeah and that puts him in a good position should he want to go into the
27:44old air pin yeah just looking at bradley ray here fourth place for him uh of course when we were here
27:49earlier on in the season uh we saw him cleaning up taking all three victories didn't we why has
27:54that changed i don't know you i've discussed it with uh james hayden and shaky burn and nobody
28:01oh here we go this is ready i don't think he can stop it no that's too deep and rye goes back through
28:08down at the melbourne loop dress rehearsal maybe for the final lap no definitely not dress rehearsal that
28:12was him having a go yeah i didn't do that on purpose he went over the inside on purpose couldn't
28:16stop the bike so that that's one attempt well let's see what happens four kilometers to go then
28:21at the end of this one ride versus reading yamaha versus ducati and who is going to take victory
28:27into red gate we go for the final time got ready didn't want to leave it to the last lap then your
28:32chances are running out let's have a look only if that's a lame kind of decision that can't get it
28:38stopped quite obvious when he aims for the apex he can't get it stopped so that's one that's one
28:42attempt not worked yeah you can see the faces jordan bird they're down in the hager pbm ducati box and
28:48now reading all over the back of car ride like a bad rash we come through into the swan's curve can
28:53i have a look into mclean's i don't think so it's a dandere move isn't it especially on these machines
28:57they're bucking and weaving all over the place three opportunities left yeah foggy s is the first one
29:02no yeah no chance at the compass no not unless you fancy your christmas dinner through a straw so
29:08scott reading needs a really good run get a little bit of slipstream put himself on the inside you
29:12probably are going to see car ride defend which he is doing so look yeah that's a defensive run down
29:18there yeah can he hold it though holds the line quite nicely so another opportunity beckons then for
29:23scott reading needs a good run but he gets it a bit out of shape coming down that's cost him as i don't
29:27think he's got any and you see kyle's defending again he'll stop it mid-corner has he kept it online
29:32yes he has and you can see reading they're trying to get the cut back on the inside as he's trying to
29:36switch back through it's going to be into goddard if he's going to make a move but riders got this
29:40one looks like covered off absolutely unless he runs wide mid-corner he doesn't and that's kyle's
29:45beautiful car ride takes victory in the second race for bennett's bsb here at donnington park what a
29:51ride from the nitrous competitions yamaha rider ahead of scott reading and rory skinner on the
29:57podium once more bradley ray finally gets a strong result after a challenging weekend with a top five
30:02finish in fourth ahead of andrew erwin idden in sixth haslam seventh bridewell eight erwin ninth
30:08and danny kent completing the top ten that was a very controlled ride from kyle yeah not only that he
30:14uses nodley he just he knew it was coming he knew an attempt were going to come and he just had a plan
30:20so once it was in front once that attempt by scott reading failed down at a melbourne loop then kyle knew
30:25he had to defend and he knew where to defend every single corner he did it perfect yeah lovely job
30:31there from kyle ryde very intelligent on board that owen that nitrous competitions yamaha 11 points the
30:38advantage he had coming into this race over bradley ray ray finishing in fourth he'll continue to extend
30:44that lead in the championship i mean given where we were james after uh the fourth round
30:50not yeah before brand's arch yeah we we thought that this was a case of when brad ray was going to
30:56be cleaning up for the title how the tables have turned in the space of a few weekends that's by
30:59racing but you wouldn't have had that you wouldn't have seen it coming would you no doubt about it
31:03great job from rory skinner as well brilliant job from rory skinner uh good to see that but kyle just
31:09uses his head he's a it just looks at the big picture the long game he's done that for a couple
31:14of years now also it doesn't seem to be sort of mentally under the shadow of his long time rival
31:21brad ray which he did seem i know he's gonna he's gonna give me a that's a spin a c into just for
31:27saying this but he always seemed like he was just under the shadow of of brad a little bit because brad
31:32beat him quite a lot as when they were kids uh but not anymore that was a well worked out race for kyle was
31:38that well it was announced yesterday that kyle signed a two-year deal with the nitrous competitions
31:42yamaha team yeah another two years yeah great job great job for him and uh yeah very very well
31:46deserved victory here today word is they might be on ducati's next year so it might have a little
31:51bit of learning to do very different back to the yamaha one is on there yeah and of course they've got
31:55glenn irwin on the other side of the garage as well and if you want someone who goes quicker
31:58to ducati you've got glenn irwin that said it's a brand new ducati next year it is yeah yeah very true
32:02double-sided swing arm obviously yeah scott reading second place for him then so it won't be
32:07a uh fourth victory uh or challenging for those four in the weekend in the weekend isn't it yeah
32:13and uh but i think he'll be pretty happy with uh second place here today had a go didn't he he had
32:19a go but it was a late kind of decision and he went for it and straight away i thought he's not going
32:25to stop that mid corner yeah the thing is you're looking at karl and there weren't any obvious places
32:29where he was particularly weaker compared to scott were there scott looked really good in some of the
32:34places where it would have been really difficult to make a pass well there we go then kyle ryde
32:39makes his way into park ferme as the winner of race two of bennett's bsb that's his fourth victory
32:46of the season for the nitrous competitions yamaha team well let's get confirmation of the results from
32:53race two here at donington park kyle rides to victory ahead of scott reading and rory skinner who is on the
32:59podium for a second race in succession bradley ray recovers after a challenging saturday here to
33:05finish fourth in race two ahead of andy irwin christian hidden leon haslam tommy bridewell glenn
33:10irwin in ninth place ahead of danny kent josh brooks just outside of it ahead of charlie nesbitt
33:15as well as max cook storm stacy and then scott swan
33:21let's have a look at what it means for the championship standings 11 points was the advantage for
33:25kyle ryde it's now up to 17 with another two races to come here today at donington park it's all to
33:31play for but uh kyle ryde with a phenomenal amount of momentum at this latter point of the season
33:41further down the order you can see points on offer there glenn irwin up into 14th place he's missed a
33:44big portion of the season started on the ducati transitioned over to the yamaha so trying to get
33:50some good points on offer here today as well would be a great result
34:03well any questions of settling for second have been quickly put to bed here by kyle ryde victorious
34:09in rates race two two more races still to come as well we'll have the thoughts of our podium finishers
34:14when we come back from the break
34:20another champions ride from kyle at the front here at donington park with standing pressure
34:27from yesterday's race one winner scott reddin it's the fourth win of the season for the defending
34:32champion and we can get the thoughts of all of our podium finishes now uh we're shaking thank you matt
34:38yeah daniel rory skinner rory that looked like a really cool calm and collected ride i'm sure it was
34:43quite the opposite and you were giving absolutely everything but uh wonderful performance and another
34:48podium yeah mega happy shaky it was uh excellent race really really enjoyed that again quite hard
34:53fought at the beginning i saw the gap was plus zero for most of it but towards the last few laps started
34:57to open up a little bit and uh no mega happy with it all it was uh boys made a good step with the bike
35:02we worked hard overnight and then warm up even then changing stuff before the race so guys did a good
35:06job with that cheshire molens ducati team done an excellent job and uh no looking forward to the other two
35:10this afternoon sounds weird to say i don't need two more races to go best luck rory thank you cheers
35:14right second place then here he comes scott reddin a little bit of a role reversal from yesterday
35:20scott you had a dig and second to last lap down into the uh into the melbourne loop nearly got it
35:24done not quite uh but two more chances today yeah absolutely like a fair play to carly was riding
35:30really well but i just need more time like i was starting to feel more comfortable i could start to
35:36look at stuff but the race is already over to be honest mate when i went for that move i thought it was
35:40the last lap because i was i don't know the race is short like i kind of forgot um didn't make it
35:45stick he come back past me but honestly he rode very well i know when a rider's riding good he rode
35:49very well we got two more races today so i want to get a couple more wins now we wish you the best of
35:54luck for that scott super thank you right your race two winner then it seems really weird to say
36:00well it's two already but kyle ride that was some performance a lot of pressure there from scott
36:04reading um you stayed out front countered his move and uh here you are top of the podium yeah i knew
36:10this morning was going to help me compared to yesterday um i knew i'd have more of a chance of
36:14beating scott but i didn't expect to lead the race and uh lead every lap except for one one lap into the
36:20melbourne loop so uh yeah he's definitely got the the pace so it's going to be a bit of a dogfight all
36:24all today um but yeah just glad to get my first win out the the way at donington i wanted one at least
36:29for the fans today so to do it in the first one on sunday's good i called it yesterday and said that i
36:32thought that you uh playing it safe brad had a difficult race you didn't need to win there's
36:36two points difference is that the case uh kind of i didn't have the pace yesterday um for four
36:41laps i could have passed scott but the four to ten before i got red flagged scott was the better man
36:45so uh the better man won yesterday but i managed to uh managed to beat him today so i'm happy two more
36:50chances this afternoon best of luck cheers mate thank you yeah i don't think there's any doubt the better
36:55man won today brilliant ride from carl we've got his rider coach and manager tommy hill former bsb
36:59champion of course himself with us now tommy something seems to have just clicked with kyle
37:04over the last few rounds what was it like of the first part of the season when brad was winning
37:08keeping him calm and uh you know there's obviously no panic from you you guys side no that's what it's
37:13about as you said a minute ago a championship ride from carl again i mean uh you know he won't realize
37:18this but i'm in awe of kyle and what he does um yeah he's riding a crystal wave at the moment and uh
37:24yeah just doing what what he does best and uh it's always difficult you know you guys will talk
37:28about the championship and that championship five mills as the season goes on and you know
37:33people talk about pressure mounting and building and uh you know there i suppose rivalry between
37:38him and brad but yeah it's important that carl just keeps doing what he's doing um and rides the way
37:43he's riding and uh yeah he's uh he's doing a smashing job at the moment it's always a difficult
37:47race like when you're riding with guys that aren't in the championship fight at the moment so
37:51yeah cool calm and collected and uh yeah he's done the job there you know and i'm going from a
37:55fantastic result from cabwell as well but also going through different circuits you know different
38:00characteristics from cabwell park to a donnington park you've got two massively different circuits
38:04so for carl to do what he's doing at every track is a job well done so good job do you think that
38:10with ray sort of coming back in the level that he did do you think he's he's kind of elevated
38:15carl as well yeah we all know going well superbike racing you have to raise the bar you know them
38:20guys are on it and that's not to say bsb's not but i think you come back from world championship a bit
38:24more refined a bit more polished and uh yeah it raises the bar and uh yeah carl's rose to the
38:30occasion once again so yeah carl's doing a fantastic job but yeah we're all here part of that jigsaw
38:35puzzle just to try and get the best out of carl and also uh it's all about marginal gains at this
38:40level he's rose to the occasion he's rose to the top step as well we'll let you go and enjoy the podium
38:44thanks top victory number four of 2025 for car ride extending his lead in the championship up to 17
38:54points at a critical juncture of it scott reading well he had to go he has to set up a second best
38:59here though for the second race out of four this weekend on the hager pbm ducati he still seems happy
39:05enough with his performances car ride though holds the winner's trophy aloft a double podium when we
39:12came here earlier on this season and he's uh kicking off proceedings very nicely on sunday for our
39:19second visit to donnington park now time for the national anthems
39:38so
39:49fourth one of the season then for kyle ride two more opportunities to add to that here at
40:03donnington park this afternoon we'll get the thoughts of the chaps when we come back from this break
40:07welcome back to donnington park the first of three sprint races here this afternoon
40:19in the books well this morning and this afternoon uh and it's a win for kyle ride james um once he got
40:26to the front i mean scott obviously put a lot of pressure on him but he he looked comfortable really
40:30with handling that pressure he looked really comfortable with a minute a couple of changes
40:33the bike he felt the bike got worse as the fuel load went down yesterday i think they've addressed
40:37that a little bit but listen i don't know what it said on kyle ride school report i suspect like all
40:42of us he said could try out of it nobody can try out of being settled and figuring this racing job out
40:48he thinks he sees the big picture he thinks about what he's doing never stops thinking and never gets
40:53emotional about it he can just step back and go right that's what we've got to do not going to get
40:58upset if i can't win today i think that's a championship kind of attitude that for me
41:02danny you've written with these guys up to well last season and uh we're really seeing a different
41:07version of kyle ride now it seems obviously won the championship last year but he's been forced to
41:12play a little bit differently this year yeah and like you said there you know like even handing the
41:15pressure every lap zero like plus zero on your board all the time you know scott was right on his on
41:19his towels you know the whole time and just being able to manage that you know he made no mistakes even
41:24when scott assaulted a pass on him like had a go he sort of just moved out of the way he got it
41:28back online and just carried on and just did what he needed to do right what would you if you'd have
41:33been scott what would you what could you have done different there exactly what what could he done
41:36you know he was trying to get good drive out of red gate he's trying to get a bit of a run down the
41:39hill everywhere that he was trying to do things kyle was just good and not he didn't look exceptional he
41:47looked good and he just looked clean and everything just looked really nice and when he passed him he
41:52sort of was like yeah there you go moved back over and obviously the next lap he was like right i've
41:57just got to move myself over break there and yeah just didn't look flustered good we showed as well
42:02that he's prepared to take the wins when they're available james that's actually only his fourth
42:06of the season which when you consider he's now got a 17 point gap in the championship is it's surprisingly
42:12low really it is i think yeah there's no two ways about it karl has impressed me so much
42:18in his last few races he's really grown into being a champion at the start of the season
42:23he got it handed to him week in week out and you're like come on karl and then he's just picked away
42:29picked away really clever race that as well he knew he was under pressure just where he put his bike
42:34you know when he did when he did it to just sort of make sure he could close the gap on the inside and
42:39i've just been you know as i said earlier i was watching him and i just he's really riding well and
42:45just at this sort of point in the season when he needs it as well and we're seeing um obviously
42:49ray having a almost a little bit of a confidence thing yeah and um but let's hear from brad now
42:55he's just actually just over our shoulder just over there he's just waiting to speak to shake
43:00yeah thanks matt daddy with brad ray actually um bradley that looked a little bit more like the uh
43:04the brad ray of old um i know the team worked really hard for you over the over the last night
43:09changed new chassis knew everything was the bike better can you make it better again for these last two races
43:15yeah definitely the boys have worked tirelessly all all weekend to be honest and last night we uh
43:20changed the frame change the um change the engine and in that race i felt back to my normal self had
43:25a good feeling with the bike and um there's a few areas where i know we can improve for the last two
43:30races and uh we've just been on the back foot we lost a couple of sessions this weekend so i'm playing
43:35a little bit of catch up but um yeah overall a lot a lot more of a positive race that for me um get a better
43:40jump in the next one and i think we'll uh we'll try and get up with scott and kyle for for the podium
43:44battle he's the smile back always is mate good lad good luck thank you i don't know it didn't look too
43:50happy yesterday evening when i saw brad but it looks a bit happier now yeah problem is when you've
43:54got a big problem with your bike and it don't feel like yours whatever that problem is that dimension
43:58problems they've changed a frame so it's a really completely different bike then the rest of the
44:04fine-tuned setup then has to take second base so now he's got a bike that feels his own but he
44:09hasn't had time on that bike to get it anywhere near where he needs so that'll get better as the weekend
44:13goes on flying under the radar a little bit and by no fault of his own danny is rory skinner who's put
44:20together back-to-back podiums here already this weekend yeah i mean rory's there you know he is
44:24there you know i know he was obviously off screen and the race was more focused on uh on the front
44:28too but he's doing a great job you know again he's just getting the races done and these races in the
44:33formats this weekend obviously it's a lot different so yeah i mean he did a fantastic job with third
44:37place and but we you know we do want talking about brad we want him to be there we want to see brad you
44:43know locking haunted car up a championship we want to see him fighting back at the front and hopefully you
44:47know i know he's had his issues with the fight he can sort of get back to there because we want to
44:51see it don't we you know and he has to do that of course we want to see it we want to see a big battle
44:56at the front where he's gonna have to get past rory skinner if he wants to get involved with those two
45:01yeah that's it and i just it just looks to me as well like he just lost a fraction of confidence
45:06this last little bit and he's an absolutely brilliant man we can see that from what he's done and what he's
45:11always done so he'll get it back and hopefully you know if it was he was chasing something with
45:17the bike from one of the crashes you know and it wasn't feeling quite right then hopefully that is
45:21it now and now they've got there as he just said some fine setting he'll be he'll be there i hope so
45:25because we we want him back and it's funny just seeing him a bit off color yeah okay we'll also uh
45:30back at cadwell park a couple of weeks ago was andy erwin he was just outside that front four-way battle
45:35in that race as well finished fifth let's get his thoughts with shane yeah thank you matt danny with
45:40andrew erwin andrew erwin should i say andrew that was another positive ride for you strong couple
45:44of rounds another top five uh there in that first race this morning how are you feeling yes you know
45:49i have to i think take the positives it's five top fives in the last five races uh but you always want
45:54more you know what it's like as a racer you're always a little bit disappointed but honestly the
45:58team have done a great job for me the bikes working in quite a good window we just need to find
46:02a little bit in the way into the corner and a little bit away and the way out of the corner and i think
46:05we can fight for the podium but that's a lot easier said than done and yeah hopefully we just
46:10sometimes a small change can be a big change on the bike so hopefully we stand small for race three
46:16and they will try to take that next step forward wish you the best of luck for andrew cheers man
46:21yeah good to see andrew continuing that consistent form back at the sharp end good pal of yours
46:26uh danny and nice to see him more positive after a really difficult period yeah i mean what he went
46:31for you know the crash that he had where he broke his at the top of his arm you know he's had some
46:35terrible injuries and yeah that mindset you know just keep getting up keep keep going you know it's
46:40fantastic to see him getting some results obviously they changed the swing arm seems to have been a
46:43massive improvement for him and it's nice to see him there but yeah like fifth place doesn't do him any
46:47justice here because you know the front two sort of got away and it was a massive gap and they made it
46:51look quite easy didn't they in the front two and i know he's not at all and uh yeah he's having a good weekend i i think we've all stuck with
46:58andy hondis honda struck with andy because we know there's a little bit of talent in there quite
47:02a lot of talent in there we know he's so brave he will have a go at any point don't matter how the
47:07bike is you put him on anything he'll try and get the best out of it and we all love that but i do feel
47:12that this was needed i think if he'd have had a bad tail end to this season then he's right i think
47:17would have been in question it must have been questioning this is exactly what he needs yeah yeah and
47:22you talk about confidence and belief and that's what he's discovered in these last few meetings again
47:27because to be honest since bridewell got on the honda he hasn't been near him and then suddenly
47:31we've had this you know change of places where he's now ahead of bridewell and he he's the confident
47:36one he looks the best honda yeah and it's yeah that's all just belief and confidence again it's
47:40such a such a powerful thing in this sport yeah well bridewell doesn't seem like he's got that at the
47:46minute eight despite a good weekend at cadwell eighth today and uh i mean it's difficult to see why he
47:51had the back fantastic winning cadwell can't take nothing away great to see tommy winning that but actually
47:56then you come to a circuit that's i mean arguably easier to settle for and he's done more laps and
48:02and they've done more testing and then the bike's a different bike you know no base setting nothing to
48:06start from the clutching at straws on set when it's difficult to see why and i don't know do you know
48:12like obviously you see um top back recently said you know i need to stop focusing on how the bike was
48:17before i just focus on what i'm doing now i feel like sometimes you know as a rider you're like he's
48:21trying to make this perfect bike in his head and he's never gonna get it no i think if he focuses
48:25his time on just riding that bike hard he'll because you know we know he can ride anything
48:29well so i really think that if tommy can just focus on riding that bike he'll get to the front
48:33and that's easier said than done and especially easiest to do it yeah you got telling
48:39inspiring words we'll leave you to that we're going to take a little bit of a break here there's
48:43lots more racing to come though here at donington park this afternoon we're going to be back on air
