00:00Welcome back. Good evening. Welcome to London. It's so good to have you with us here in our
00:07studio. Kate, Thierry, Jamie. We've got Mike and Anita on the road. We'll be back out to
00:12them in the Etihad very shortly indeed, see who they can speak to over there after the
00:16game between Manchester City and Napoli. We heard Jamie's thoughts there, just to get
00:20your thoughts on that 2-0 win for Manchester City. Not really a game that we can judge
00:25much from, I guess, because of the way it played out with Napoli going down to 10.
00:28Yes, but to be fair, right from the start, City looked way better than Napoli. Very
00:33difficult to judge it, as you said, because, you know, the captain got sent off and rightly
00:38so. You can't even complain about that one. So it did change the game. I was personally
00:45sad for Kevin De Bruyne to leave the field. You can understand that, obviously, you know,
00:50with one man less, you have to do a bit more work off the ball and the coach didn't trust
00:54him. But overall, you know, it was well-deserved. It was about being patient, like Jamie said
01:00before, and they find a way. And the way they did, by the way, the pass of Phil Foden, that
01:05finish from the monster, we already know when it comes to goals and anything that happens
01:10in the box, you know, at his age, what he did, the amount of goals, nobody can talk to
01:15him when it comes to that. And then Jeremy Doku being in the pocket. And as soon as you have
01:20a guy that can dribble on a second goal like him, being close to goal, obviously, when
01:25you pass the players, you find yourself facing the net instead of being on the side. So, you
01:31know, fair play to Haaland and Jeremy Doku. He looks like he's going to be, I mean, it's
01:37early. Maybe it's season.
01:39Well, I tell you what, should we go out to the Etihad, to the man who lifts us all up,
01:43makes us all feel better about ourselves and about life? Anita, how's it been with him?
01:49It's been fantastic. He brings the vibes, he brings the energy and, of course, he's got
01:53all the hookups here. So, you're going to hook us up with our interviews, aren't you?
01:56Yes, hopefully. I'm looking to get Pep, looking to get Foden. I need to go on that side, though,
02:00so I can drag him in.
02:02Well, hold up. Talk us about the game, though. Of course, Manchester City getting the win.
02:06What did you think of the performance?
02:07I think the guys in the studio there have summed it up well. I mean, the red card killed the game.
02:12For Man City, it was good for them to put back-to-back performance together. United did it ever
02:17so well. I thought Foden was outstanding. Again, I thought Doku had a really good game.
02:21And Haaland gets his goal as well. I think, in terms of him last season, he was scoring goals
02:26but not necessarily playing well. I think he's playing well and scoring goals, even when he
02:30starved of the ball. You know, Napoli went into that deep block and managed to find a way.
02:34So, all smiles here at the Etihad.
02:39Hey, have you missed me, though, or what? Because the last two nights, the last two nights,
02:43I'm not going to say this, the figures have been fantastic without big beaks in the studio.
02:48How do you think you're going to do tonight, eh?
02:50Micah, can you stop stepping in front of Anita, please? That would be nice.
02:56Titi, don't be a poppy pooper.
02:58A what? A what? A poppy pooper?
03:01We need to see it, too.
03:05So, Anita, you have been...
03:05So, you know them viewing figures, Micah?
03:08Yes, go on, JB.
03:09Would that have anything to do with being free?
03:12No, nothing to do with being free.
03:14No.
03:15You've got to see big beaks and numbers from last season.
03:18The continued support from last season is there for all to see.
03:21But can I just say, Anita, you have been magnificent.
03:24The confidence has been fantastic, elegance, everything about you is top-notch.
03:29We just need an interview now.
03:31Yeah, we do. That's on you, though.
03:32So, do you prefer me or Peter? That is the question.
03:34Oh, so you're putting me in the hot seat now when you ask all the players this.
03:38I prefer Peter yesterday and I preferred you today.
03:41Oh, I love it, Anita. Well done.
03:43Very good, very good, very good.
03:44All right, we'll be back with you. Thank you very much, guys.
03:46Good to see you, as always.
03:49Okay, so should we take a look at the highlights from this game, then?
03:52First, I guess, big incident to look at here would be the red card for Napoli.
03:55Let's take a look for their captain.
03:58Yes, the captain, Di Lorenzo, playing it right back.
04:01We mentioned before about Aylen Harden, loving that channel.
04:05And look, he thinks he's in space. It's a lovely pass.
04:09But he does really well, Tierra.
04:10You turn about his actual body strength.
04:12When he put his right leg in nose, there you go.
04:15That stops everything. Di Lorenzo got sent off.
04:19And it was a long ball, also.
04:20I like that, the fact that you can go direct and place right away and try to find your nine.
04:27And you love this goal, the finish.
04:29Yeah, I do.
04:30But when you have a guy like Phil Foden, they were missing him at the beginning of the season.
04:35He can find you in any way, any style.
04:38He's in the pocket. Look at where he is.
04:40He's surrounded by players.
04:42But there is only one place on the field where you have no limit.
04:46He's in the air.
04:47Ball never goes out when he's in the air.
04:49So he lifts it exactly where he should be.
04:52And that finish from Aylen.
04:54I mean...
04:55It is just...
04:58When you look at...
04:59That's what I said.
04:59Nobody can talk to him when it comes to how early he did it.
05:03Mm-hmm.
05:04It's his seventh goal in six games as well, isn't it?
05:07Just how good a start to the season has it been for him, do you think?
05:10Look, we all know he will score.
05:13Playing well or not playing well.
05:14I do think that what Mike has said and Jamie also has been saying it here in England,
05:19is that he looks fresher.
05:20He looks like he had that little desire.
05:22When he played against Man United, you could see he was sharp when he was pressing,
05:26trying to hold it, trying to lead from the front.
05:29Not only with goals, but with his all-around game.
05:32And that's good for Man City.
05:34Thierry, can I ask you?
05:36We talk about Thailand a lot and you speak about...
05:38Obviously, there's no one better to speak on the best strikers in the world.
05:41And we sometimes talk about his all-around game.
05:44But in terms of his goalscoring, he's top of the list.
05:49Is his finishing underrated?
05:52People sort of motivate him to get goalscorer.
05:54But whenever I see him in front of goal, there's never a thought in my mind that he would miss.
05:59I would say that it is not underrated.
06:03But it's taken for granted.
06:06Because he does it ever so well.
06:07And it just makes it look easy.
06:09You're like, oh, yeah, well, it's Thailand.
06:11Well, it's not normal.
06:12We are seeing the numbers.
06:14We can talk about stuff and we already done it that he can get better at.
06:19But the numbers don't lie when it comes to that at one point.
06:22Because when you look at the history of so many players and how quick he did it,
06:27nobody did it as quick as him.
06:29But, yeah, I do think that sometimes people, just because he can karate, kick one that way,
06:35or he just makes it look easy, that we all go, oh, well, that's Thailand.
06:39And that's how great you can be sometimes.
06:42Because people just think it's normal.
06:43It is not.
06:44I think because he's so big and powerful and quick.
06:47I mean, you almost have this vision of Thailand just knocking people out the way
06:50and just hitting a ball as hard as he can, you know, smashes the net.
06:54When really some of his finesse, you've just mentioned the one he scored a couple of years ago,
06:58like a Johan Cruyff goal.
06:59The goal he scored tonight with his head just to dink that over.
07:02I mean, there was one against Manchester United where he went through on his left foot.
07:06But there's no thought that he's not going to score.
07:10You know, I actually think his actual finisher, I think, is absolutely out of this way.
07:16I mean, this is an unbelievable finish.
07:21Absolutely outstanding.
07:27Shall we take a look at the second goal then for Manchester City?
07:30You don't go for this one.
07:31Yes, and, you know, I've been in that situation.
07:35When you are a winger, like when you get the ball from the wing against a low block,
07:39you have to pass the right back, you have to pass the centre back,
07:42maybe the midfielder that came to.
07:44But when you receive the ball here, in the heart,
07:48how are you going to say, of the field and the team that you play against,
07:51and you manage to turn it.
07:53Hey, as soon as you beat your man or going through, it's goal.
07:56Then you need to finish.
07:58Then you need to stay composed.
07:59Then you need to keep it low.
08:00Yes, he went through the leg of the goalkeeper.
08:03But that's what I like here.
08:04He doesn't want to set it back.
08:05He wants to go.
08:06Exactly like he did against Man United on the other side,
08:09he turned into the pocket and he went.
08:11But what he sees when he beats people there, he sees the goal.
08:15He's not like five yards towards where we are on the screen,
08:18towards us, to cross the ball.
08:20He can then finish.
08:21And I think, like, we talked about him, about it,
08:24the wingers being a bit more inside, and that's what he can bring to you.
08:29And now he only needs to work on his finishing,
08:31and it seems like that looks like it's on point at the moment.
08:35What about Napoli?
08:36What can Antonio Conte take from that game,
08:38or not much really hard to in those circumstances?
08:39I mean, listen, you lose a player early.
08:42He changed the tactical, he brought Kevin De Bruyne off.
08:44They got to half-time at 0-0.
08:46In some ways, that's a result when you're considering the opposition that you're up against.
08:51Either probably just being hoping that he could have just made it a little bit more anxious for Manchester City.
08:55I think that goal in the second half came probably a little bit too quick for his life.
08:58And if he could have got to 60, 70 minutes, then maybe the police start to get a little bit nervous.
09:04OK, well, we've got plenty more games to go through with you.
09:07We're also going to go back out to the Etihad.
09:09We're hoping to speak to Phil Foden.
09:11Newcastle were at home against Barcelona as well,
09:13and another interesting game on the night.
09:142-1, the final score for Barcelona.
09:16We'll bring you the highlights and the breakdown of that one in just a minute.
09:25Totty?
09:26Totty?
09:27Totty!
09:27Totty!
09:28Totty!
09:29Totty!
09:32Totty!
09:33Totty!
09:40Totty!
09:41Totty!
09:53Totty!
09:53Hello, everybody. Welcome along. Welcome along. It's so good to have you with us.
10:01Kate, Thierry, Jamie here. Michael Richards is over there in the studio with his favourite Man City player.
10:07I'm with my friend, Philipp Boulter, the star. Philipp, how does that feel? Come on, talk to me.
10:13Amazing to start off the Champions League with a win. We obviously had a difficult Champions League last year,
10:18so it's very important to start off with a win tonight.
10:21Can we talk about your form? Obviously, two seasons ago, Player of the Year.
10:26Last season was a little bit more difficult for you, but this season you look back to your best at the end
10:31or getting somewhere towards that. Is that fair?
10:34Yeah, it's fair to say. Obviously, last year my performances weren't what I'm used to,
10:38but I feel like every player goes through them dips. It's just about how you react.
10:42Yeah, I've been hungry as ever to get back in the team and just show what I'm about and try and get back to my best.
10:48How is it for you playing in that number 10 role as well now?
10:52We've seen you play on the left, we've seen you play on the right, but in the number 10 you look at home.
10:57Yeah, I just feel free. It's somewhere where I just feel so comfortable.
11:00I feel like I can grow into the game and I just feel myself in there.
11:04I can come short, maybe get into the game if I'm not receiving in the pockets
11:08and maybe open up space for others. I'm just enjoying it, playing in there at the moment.
11:13Can I ask you about further plans in terms of the season?
11:18How far can this team go? Because that is a question that everyone is asking in terms of,
11:24is City back to their best? I don't think so just yet.
11:29I think they're growing. I think the players that you brought in have been very good.
11:32But how far away are you?
11:34Yeah, if I'm honest, I don't think we're fully back there.
11:38I've seen glimpses of it, but I think it's a process at the moment with the new players coming in.
11:44And to be fair, they've adapted really quickly, but I still feel like they still need to understand what we do.
11:49A lot of teams are coming in and pressing at the Etihad now and we're not really used to,
11:55so we have to go a little bit longer than usual, maybe into Erling to get the sets off him.
12:01But yeah, football's always evolving and it's about how you find new ways to win.
12:04And I feel like we're going through that process at the moment of maybe not changing philosophy a lot,
12:11but just changing a little bit to adapt to teams.
12:13And I feel like we're doing that really well at the moment.
12:15Can I ask you about your hair? You know we're talking about chimps.
12:17I'm feeling the shrimp, Philip.
12:19I don't know. This is magnifique.
12:23What have you asked the barber there for?
12:25Nah, I just left it a little bit longer on top than usual.
12:28Obviously, it's normally a lot shorter.
12:30But yeah, I've got a lot of compliments recently, so yeah, I'm happy to leave it.
12:34Thierry, Jamie, do you want to say anything?
12:36Yes, Phil, I have a question.
12:38First and foremost, congratulations. I love the pass tonight.
12:41As you said, you were talking about being free in terms of positioning.
12:47I also wanted to know how great it is.
12:49Please, can you explain to people to be pain-free?
12:53Because if not, it's very difficult to perform and people forget about that.
12:58Yeah, it's obviously massively important.
13:00I think a lot of footballers play with niggles every now and last year.
13:05I was picking up a lot of niggles that I had to play with.
13:07And it's not an excuse, really, why I'm working my best.
13:09I feel like it was a full-team problem.
13:11I think everyone weren't up to the standards.
13:14And obviously, it's more difficult to perform.
13:16But I feel like there's fresh minds this season, fresh players.
13:19And yeah, we're ready to start again.
13:20Phil, can I just ask you, you mentioned before about the number 10 position.
13:24And obviously, when you look at the set-up of the team,
13:27Bernardo Silva's on the right at the moment.
13:28And you've been central the last couple of games.
13:31But in the past, I've always felt Pep would put maybe somebody else a little bit centre.
13:35And you'd end up finding yourself on the right.
13:37Is that maybe something you've spoken to the manager about?
13:40Or is that just his decision?
13:43Yeah, I've not really spoke to him right.
13:45I think I set up on the right at the start of the game.
13:47And he changed me in Bernardo round.
13:50Obviously, I'm happy to play wherever he puts me.
13:52But, you know, I think I've made it clear that I do prefer the 10.
13:56And that's where I see myself playing.
13:58So, yeah, like I said, that's where I want to be.
14:01So, let's see what happens.
14:03I'm playing there at the moment and loving my football.
14:05Well, you just said that you prefer the 10.
14:09But I'm sat in Micah's chair tonight.
14:12And Micah normally asks the same question.
14:14And it normally goes along the lines of Phil Foden.
14:20Who's your favourite on the show?
14:22Favourite?
14:23Yeah, favourite bit.
14:25None of yours.
14:27Nah, I'm joking.
14:28Nah, I love you all, man.
14:29I swear, I love you all.
14:31Funny bunch.
14:31You've got to pick one.
14:32Just one.
14:33One?
14:34Ah, you're putting me on the spot here.
14:35Mm-hmm.
14:36Do I actually have to pick one?
14:37Mikey's sweating.
14:38Go on, pick up.
14:38I'm sweating here, Phil.
14:41Can you go to town with your Micah?
14:45Wow.
14:45I'm not dressed for the occasion.
14:46Talk us through that cult, do you?
14:47I'm 28.
14:48You like this, though, don't you?
14:50Little fashion sense.
14:51A little, you know.
14:52I won't mention the brand, you know, because they don't sponsor me.
14:54I'm looking for a sponsor if anyone wants to sponsor me.
14:56But, yeah, I got it wrong tonight.
14:59Last one from me.
15:01Arsenal, the weekend.
15:02Big game.
15:03Massive game.
15:04Massive game.
15:05Yeah, we obviously know how difficult Arsenal is.
15:07They don't make it easy for us every time we play them.
15:09Similar to tonight, they're so hard to break down.
15:13They're probably the best in the structure at the moment.
15:16So, yeah, it's going to be really difficult to break them down.
15:18But hopefully we can keep patient like today and hopefully pick our moments at the right
15:23times and hurt them.
15:25So, yeah, it's going to be a very good game.
15:26Mike, Mike, Mike.
15:27Well, good luck.
15:29Good luck.
15:29I know Jamie's about to say something different.
15:31Who are you supporting?
15:33Who's Mike is supporting?
15:34Is he supporting Arsenal or City on Sunday?
15:37He's supporting.
15:37What?
15:38From my office.
15:39We're having technical problems.
15:41We're having technical problems.
15:42Yeah.
15:42The light's going to be funny there, Phil.
15:45Aaron, can you?
15:46I'll see you later.
15:48Thank you, Phil.
15:50Nice one, guys.
15:51Nice to see you.
15:52Thanks, Phil.
15:53Thank you, thank you.
15:54Oh, my God.
15:55Oh, that was good.
15:56All the sweating.
15:57He's dripping with sweat, isn't he?
16:00Should we talk about maybe the Newcastle and Barcelona game that was played at St.
16:04James' Park this evening?
16:05Newcastle gave it a good push at the end, did everything they could, but just Barcelona
16:09too.
16:10Yeah, I mean, in some ways, Eddie, how got it spot on tactically.
16:13You met him with his real pace in his front three, caused Barcelona a real problem
16:18as, you know, Thierry mentioned at a half-time, you know, we talked about that high line.
16:22It's not going to change.
16:23You see the situation here, but the pace of Alanga who just makes that late run is absolutely
16:27blistering, and what across this is, and that was actually the second opportunity.
16:33That was Harvey Barnes.
16:34Earlier on, Anthony Gordon has had a brilliant chance as well, and there's that nice swoosh,
16:39as Thierry calls it.
16:40That's your back four, but the pace of Alanga is absolutely electric, but he's still
16:45got the composure and the quality.
16:47What a cross that is.
16:48Takes Krunday out the way, and they should have found themselves 1-0 in front, really,
16:53and that come a lot down to, you know, the team the manager picked early on, but they
16:56just didn't quite have the finish.
16:58Yep, and then if we talk about Marcus Rashford, who did have the finish tonight, scored two
17:02goals for Barca.
17:03To come back to England wearing a Barca shirt and have that kind of performance.
17:06It was always going to be the case.
17:09It seems that it works like that all the time, like, and Marcus Rashford happened, although
17:13Rafinha does ever so well on the first goal, on the counter, at the very beginning, all
17:18the ball well, and then Jules Koundé, as you're going to see here, will receive the ball
17:22back on his left.
17:23But that header, huh?
17:24Whew!
17:24You know, that's a great cross, first and foremost, but the power that it generates
17:29now, that's a great header.
17:33Very Gary Lineker line.
17:37And Gary Lineker, the last player, two-way, score for Barcelona.
17:41English, yes, 1989.
17:43Yeah, long time ago.
17:45What about this one?
17:47He even made a 1-2 with a Newcastle player.
17:49Yeah.
17:49But you know when it's your night, it's your night.
17:52Look.
17:54Look, yeah, I was like, okay, let's have one.
17:56Okay, okay, give it to me.
17:58But we've seen that before.
18:00I mean, it's a hell of a finish, but we've seen that one before with him.
18:02The header, the desire, he had everything.
18:05The coach of England was in the stand with his assistant also, watching the game.
18:09So, you know, welcome to Barca.
18:12You'll do well to see a better strike than that this season in the Champions League.
18:14I'd love to probably know the miles per hour on it.
18:17Well, is it miles per hour on America, is it?
18:19Kilometres?
18:20Uh, miles.
18:21Miles.
18:21Miles.
18:21I like me, Gordon, who he said should have scored in the first half.
18:26That's two of England's left-wingers who've scored all the goals in a big Champions League tie.
18:32It's a great cross from Murphy, by the way.
18:33Yeah, it was, yeah.
18:34But it's Marcus Rashford's night.
18:41Yep, first English player to score for Barcelona, as you guys said, for 37 years.
18:45That's how long ago it was, that Gary Winnker goal.
18:48Let's listen into what he had to say after the game.
18:51Here we go.
18:51More difficult is the head, I don't score many with the head, so yeah, it's both goals are important goals, because it helps the team to win, so it's very good.
19:07Asist on Sunday and now to a great goal, what has changed in your game in the last few days?
19:14No, no, I don't think anything changed, it's just, you know, a little bit more confidence, more belief, but like always, it comes from inside, from the people around you, the coach, the team.
19:25So yeah, it's a good moment, but we have to continue to push.
19:32The Barcelona manager, Hansi Flick, had backed Marcus Rashford to perform in that position.
19:36Obviously, Lamin, Yamal not involved in the game today because of injury, but this is what Hansi Flick then said about Marcus Rashford after the game.
19:43Talk to us about Marcus Rashford and his two goals, two outstanding goals, but very different.
19:48Yes, of course, this is what we always see in the training, and it's shown today, and I'm very happy for him.
19:54Has he announced himself now as a Barcelona player?
19:57He is now, of course, he's one of, in the offense, we have a lot of good players, and he's one of this, and I'm really happy to have him, because he gives us a little bit more opportunities to, options to, you know, to follow the match, and it's great to have him.
20:19We know he had a difficult time over here in England recently.
20:22Are you seeing him grow in confidence, grow into the shirt as part of your squad?
20:26Of course, so for me, for me, Marcus is, I think this, these two goals, I think it helps a lot, you know, to get the next step, because it's so important that he have the confidence, that he feel, okay, he's important and he can do it, and I think these goals are unbelievable for him for the next steps.
20:50It will be interesting to see how Hansi Flick uses Marcus Rasmus this season, won't it, what do you expect his role to be, do you expect him to be a starter?
20:59I think it'll be tough, you think of the two wide players at Barcelona, the probably two players who were in line, on their performances last season, they're probably in line for the Ballon d'Or, that's, you're involved in next week?
21:11Yes.
21:12Give me your flowers.
21:13Just, no thanks, we were just about to talk about it.
21:16Okay.
21:16Did you finish?
21:17But that's going to make it tough.
21:18He resits, you know, that's all Jimmy is, you know, like, you know.
21:21But yeah, I think that will find it tough, I think for them, they've got him on loan, they're paying probably the majority of his wages,
21:27but he has to put in performances like that, which gives himself, you know, a real opportunity of being, you know, a big part of what could be an amazing season with Barcelona.
21:34A lot of people are saying, himself included, that they will go far in this competition.
21:38And he's, in his career at Manchester United, he's played for a giant, but he hasn't won giant trophies at Manchester United.
21:44It gives him the opportunity, now he's at Barcelona, to do that.
21:47Okay.
21:47Good stuff.
21:48So, Ballon d'Or, let's talk about it, because it happens on Monday.
21:52It is, of course, the most prestigious individual awards night in world football.
21:55It's the 2025 Ballon d'Or ceremony.
21:57It's coming to you live from the Théâtre du Châtelet.
22:01How was that, Thierry, was that all right?
22:02I think so.
22:03In Paris, yep.
22:04It is a star-studded occasion, as always.
22:06You won't want to miss it.
22:07We've got coverage of it for you.
22:08The Ballon d'Or awards, including Guillain Balaguet, live from the red carpet.
22:11You know who'll be looking snazzy.
22:13It streams live on the Golasso network and on YouTube.
22:17Coverage begins on Monday, September 22nd, at 2 p.m. Eastern.
22:21And I think he will have a big outfit for it.
22:23Is it prestigious because of the host?
22:25No, I don't think so.
22:26I think it's always been prestigious, hasn't it?
22:28You were nominated one year, were you not?
22:30I was.
22:30On the list, I remember.
22:32But don't deflect it.
22:33This is now your second time?
22:36Third.
22:36Third?
22:37Yes, third.
22:38Wow.
22:38They have, ten years later.
22:40Yes, I'm back.
22:41Have they got an autocue?
22:42They do, thank God.
22:43Hey.
22:46Yes, they do.
22:47Me and Rude Wallet.
22:50Contenders.
22:51Oh, there we are.
22:52Okay.
22:53They are my contenders.
22:55These are your contenders?
22:56Yeah, I mean, listen.
22:57You pick these.
22:58Yeah, I think, for me, they're the top six players who I think I watch for the majority
23:04of last season, probably in this competition.
23:06Also for the club form as well.
23:08Yeah, I mean, I think it will be Dembele on the back of sort of the season Paris Saint-Germain
23:13had as well.
23:14But all of those players have got a, you know, decent shout.
23:18Are your picks any different, Thierry?
23:20What have you got?
23:20Yeah, very different.
23:22Mm.
23:27These are my six contenders.
23:30The Champions League performance is what clinches it for you?
23:33I don't even have to talk.
23:35Just looking at the picture, that's enough.
23:36Oh, there we go.
23:38Let's watch him in action, shall we?
23:40It was the difference.
23:43We can talk about a lot of players, but for me, he is, and he should be, and I hope he
23:49will get it.
23:49I remember saying when Paris Saint-Germain played the Man City, and he was on the bench.
23:55When Bay was on the bench, and he came on, I said, if these guys ever find a way to finish
23:59what he starts, he is the best player.
24:01He will be, and he can be the best player in the world.
24:05Obviously, among a lot of players.
24:06But this year, I think he will be crowned the best in the world, this year.
24:13Then it's a long battle afterwards.
24:15But for me, one, two, three, four, five, six.
24:18We will find out Monday night.
24:20Genuinely, Kate.
24:21Good luck.
24:21Hope it goes well.
24:22Thank you very much.
24:22All the best.
24:22You'd love it if I mess up on the auto queue, though, wouldn't you?
24:25I'm sure we'll watch that back.
24:26Thank you so much, guys.
24:28So, we talked about City at home against Napoli, Newcastle at home against Barcelona.
24:32We've got a couple of other games, though, still to go through for you.
24:34Sporting and Kyra Almaty, Frankfurt and Galatasaray.
24:37We'll do all of that.
24:37Highlights, interviews, a lot more after the break.
24:44Where's my lucky sock?
24:45What's my lucky sock?
24:56Welcome back, everybody, to London.
25:17But we're going to transport you straight over to Manchester to Micah and Anita, who are still
25:22at the Etihad for us.
25:24Good evening.
25:24How are we?
25:26Have we cooled down any, Micah?
25:28No.
25:29No.
25:29I'm not cooled down.
25:30You know what?
25:30Get it off.
25:31Get it off.
25:31So, I'm going to get it off.
25:32Get it off.
25:34Get it off.
25:36Get it off.
25:37Get it off.
25:38Why are you encouraging this behavior, baby?
25:40Look at this.
25:41Look at this.
25:45Hey, I'm not fat sales of no more.
25:47I'm a Kate.
25:50My mic's gone.
25:52Look at what you've put.
25:53Chaos.
25:54Sorry.
25:54This is a tight room to give everyone context at home.
25:57I don't know measurements, but it is tight.
25:59It is hot.
26:00I'm also sweating, but I'm not getting naked like it.
26:02Who's that?
26:03Who's that?
26:03Michael over here.
26:04Can we remind ourselves how Michael...
26:06I'm back.
26:07I'm back.
26:07This is not smooth.
26:09I'm back.
26:09This is how Michael was looking when he was standing next to Phil Foden.
26:11The beads of sweat began to just pool around his eyebrows.
26:18Reminded us a little bit of what was happening.
26:20Do you remember when we saw the Monaco players on the plane yesterday on the way to the game?
26:24And you know what they did?
26:26They got everything at the top off.
26:28Take the vest off, Big Meeks.
26:30No, I'm not taking the vest off.
26:34Anita.
26:35I have to ask Anita a question because you've done three days now, three different cities,
26:40also three different colleagues, three different co-workers that you've been hosting alongside.
26:45So we thought it would only be right to ask you a few questions about your experience with each of them.
26:51So just to remind everybody at home, it was Guillaume Balaguet on day one.
26:54Then you had Peter Schmeichel day two.
26:56You've had Micah Richards on day three.
26:59Maybe we should add in David Beckham from Monday to make this a little more interesting as well.
27:02Okay, so those are your four.
27:05One-word answers.
27:06Who was most prepared?
27:10Oh, God.
27:10Peter or Guillaume, I would say.
27:15I'd say Guillaume.
27:17Guillaume.
27:18Oh, yeah, what, Micah?
27:20Guillaume, okay, who was best dressed?
27:25Micah.
27:26Ooh.
27:28I don't remember what David Beckham wore.
27:30I'm sorry, so I'm not saying he wasn't best dressed.
27:32It wasn't impressive, but was it?
27:33Wow.
27:34Wow.
27:35Wow.
27:36You know, David put some thought into that outfit too, Anita.
27:39If you don't remember what he was wearing.
27:41Not impressed.
27:42Dissing David Beckham on the show?
27:44Wow.
27:45Who asked the best questions?
27:49Well, you didn't see my interview.
27:50I didn't see your interview.
27:51We killed all your photo.
27:53He was smiling, dancing, everything.
27:55I'm going to say Peter.
27:56I'm not saying.
27:58Who picked up the check?
28:01I didn't spend enough time with these guys, so none of them, unfortunately.
28:04None of them, okay.
28:06All right.
28:07Well, Micah, you could still rectify that this evening.
28:09Um, final question.
28:12Hold on.
28:13I've been working for four days.
28:14I'm going home.
28:16As soon as I do this hit, I'm gone.
28:18Why are you still sweating?
28:19Okay, all right.
28:20Final question then.
28:21Who was the highest maintenance?
28:28Me.
28:31Great answer.
28:31Okay, Anita.
28:33No, no, before you go, though, you guys, have you missed me or not?
28:36Hey, what's going on?
28:37Have you missed Big Meeks energy in the studio?
28:39We always miss Big Meeks.
28:40Everybody misses Big Meeks.
28:41Every...
28:42The CBS want you on the road.
28:44They want you going to all over the world on the train.
28:47We want you in the studio.
28:50We do, Micah.
28:50We love you.
28:51You know that.
28:52Oh, we love you, too.
28:53We will see you in, what, a couple of weeks?
28:56We'll be back in here.
28:57We will see you then.
28:58I'll do the...
28:59AC in the studio, Micah.
29:00You're going to Paris.
29:02PSG, I think, Anita.
29:03Match day two.
29:04Barcelona PSG.
29:05Oh, is it coming down now?
29:05Oh, sorry.
29:06I'm looking forward to it.
29:07Oh, Paris.
29:08I really, huh?
29:09Yeah.
29:09Let's do it.
29:10Could be the finalists.
29:11No, Barcelona.
29:12Sorry.
29:12I didn't get it.
29:13Yeah, I know.
29:13Barcelona PSG.
29:14But, you know.
29:16Yeah.
29:16We're all excited.
29:18Oh, God, Micah.
29:20Okay, everybody.
29:21Thank you so much.
29:22Good to see you both.
29:23We will see you in a couple of weeks.
29:24Have a good one.
29:25See you match day two.
29:26Safe travels.
29:28Ciao.
29:29Ciao.
29:31Oh, God.
29:33We did miss him, didn't we?
29:34Yes.
29:35You always miss big meats.
29:36We always miss big meats.
29:37There's less food to go around as well when he's now here.
29:39None of us puts in as big an order.
29:41All right.
29:41We're going to go to a very quick break.
29:42We'll be back, everybody.
29:44We've still got more to come for you.
29:47We'll be back, everybody.
30:17Yes, we are still here.
30:34I know it's been a long evening, but we still have some highlights and some action to take you through.
30:38So let's start with the game between Copenhagen and Leverkusen.
30:42An interesting story to the first goal scorer in this one, Jordan Larson, scoring his first Champions League goal 24 years to the day after his father scored his first Champions League goal.
30:51It's a nice story, wasn't it, Thierry?
30:52Very nice, very nice, very nice, and we all know how great of a player his dad was, but tonight it's his night from that little cross going across.
31:03I don't know what actually the defenders of Leverkusen were doing, thinking maybe the ball was going to go out.
31:11He didn't believe that.
31:12He thought the goal was going to stay in, and he went in to score his goal.
31:171-0 Copenhagen.
31:18And then 1-1, Grimaldo, expert free kick taker.
31:23That's three in two games from the dead ball situation, and he was a player of the match.
31:28He was absolutely outstanding.
31:29Ronaldo-esque with that type of free kick he scored.
31:32And then Robert Silva went on to score the second goal.
31:38You could see it.
31:38It was a counter.
31:39You could see it developing exactly the way I thought it was going to happen.
31:42You know when you see a goal that's about to happen, and then they actually deliver it.
31:47What a cross, and what a header from Robert Silva.
31:50And you thought maybe at a particular moment, and I think they thought that the game was over.
31:55That's why they were dancing.
31:56And then an own goal from Hatz.
31:59The Kassos.
32:00He'll be delighted I got his name, Rob, so people don't know it's him.
32:12Yeah, but it was end-to-end.
32:14Oh, it's amazing.
32:14And I was just actually pleased for Jarrell Kwanzaa, a young player who used to play with my son at Liverpool's academy.
32:20Got moved on from Liverpool in the summer to Bayer Leverkusen.
32:23He was involved in the equalising goal.
32:25Yes, he was.
32:26He scored since his day, I think, no?
32:27Didn't he score on the first...
32:29I think he scored a goal.
32:31I think.
32:32Well, remember that Jordan Larson goal we scored you, that first goal, the opener for Copenhagen.
32:37Let's show you his interview after the game.
32:40Historic minds normally run in the family.
32:43Of course, your father scored on this particular day, 2001, for Celtic.
32:48Yes, the UEFA had the dates correctly.
32:50So, what does that mean for the family chat by what's up?
32:54No, I mean, I'm 28 years old and this was my first Champions League goal.
32:59So, it was a big moment for me.
33:00My father was actually here as well at the game watching with my mother.
33:04And, no, of course, I think they're very proud and it was a big moment.
33:08And it's funny that you mentioned that he scored exactly on this date as well.
33:12So, no, now we have something to talk about after the game.
33:16Nice.
33:18Cool family moment.
33:19Jamie, would you really like...
33:20I know you always enjoy a quiz question.
33:22Would you like one?
33:22Yeah, go on.
33:23Who is top of the table after match day one?
33:27Sport and Lisbon.
33:29And check Frankfurt.
33:30Yes, correct.
33:32Shall we take a look at their highlights?
33:33That was smooth, wasn't it?
33:34Frankfurt against Galatasaray went down, first of all.
33:39Yeah, they take a lead there away from home.
33:42Frankfurt, we talked about Galatasaray before the game.
33:44That's a fantastic goal, isn't it?
33:46Achun.
33:48Brilliant goal.
33:50And we mentioned about some of the players that they've got.
33:52Some big names.
33:53Looking forward to who will be playing match day two as well up against Liverpool.
33:56But, great start, but it's been a terrible finish to the game for us, isn't it?
34:00And an ex-Tottenham player, Davinson Sanchez.
34:05Very unfortunate there, as you're going to see.
34:08Ball is going to go back to him and there's not a lot he can do about that one, Jamie.
34:151-1 Frankfurt.
34:17And then they just, just before half-time, you think if you're Galatasaray away from home,
34:21you get to half-time, you can see the situation with the added time.
34:24And Chan Uzan, I mean, it's a brilliant finish, isn't it?
34:27Tieri.
34:29Touch, swivel, hit.
34:31That is a, that is a great, great, great, great goal.
34:34I like it.
34:36Awareness, knows where, you know, he knew where he was.
34:40And then straight after, right before, half-time, single.
34:46Scores, another, as you're going to see here, on goal.
34:52It's been a lot of on goals, hasn't it, in the first match day one?
34:55Very much so.
34:563-1 Frankfurt.
34:57Yes, and then, that man again, Bearcat.
35:07Honestly, two in one game.
35:10What type of player should have two on-goals in one game?
35:13I wonder.
35:18And then, obviously, as you mentioned, this goal allow them to go top of...
35:28Ooh, Eliwae tackling there.
35:29Very good.
35:31Off the table.
35:33How are you going to dance?
35:35Tonight?
35:36I'm a dancing with it.
35:37I don't dance alone.
35:39Frankfurt took it in front of Paris.
35:41So, Bruges also is there.
35:44Good scenes, isn't it, there?
35:45Look at that Frankfurt stadium after that final whistle.
35:47Cool to see the players as well, celebrating with their fans.
35:50Nice reading as well for Frankfurt to look at that table, top of the table.
35:54Back in the Champions League, Bruges up there in third as well.
35:58I guess one of the other names that we may not have expected to see in that kind of top section.
36:03Union Saint-Giloise up there as well in five as well.
36:05Shall we take a look at Bruges after...
36:07Not Bruges, Sporting, sorry.
36:09No, Bruges, sorry.
36:10Let's take a look at Bruges.
36:11Two teams from Belgium being there, it's...
36:13Impressive, huh?
36:14Yeah, it is.
36:15So, Bruges were playing Monaco, and this was a great result for them, Thierry.
36:19It was.
36:19It's always mentioned that going to play against Bruges away is a tough one.
36:25You see Mignolet making a foul on BRF.
36:28And I think if everyone followed, you all know that obviously, Marnes, Aglius, you're going to miss.
36:36He did the penalty away, he saves it, Thierry, and then he goes off injured.
36:40Yes.
36:41Mignolet?
36:41I mean, penalty, you save and you get injured.
36:45Yes.
36:47And then Bruges got one and up.
36:53Tresaldi with the first goal.
36:55I mean, they work it well, and he just gets there before the goalkeeper.
37:01Topo, Romario life.
37:04Look at that.
37:06Very nice.
37:07And then 2-0, Thierry.
37:12Yes, Onyedica.
37:14He doesn't score a lot.
37:17That's, I think, apparently, first since January.
37:23But who cares?
37:25I'm sure he's going to be happy and celebrate that tonight.
37:27That could have been one goal too, but I mean, that will go down to being his goal, obviously.
37:32And then Van Aken.
37:34And some quality player.
37:35Oh, look at that.
37:36Wow.
37:38Brilliant.
37:39Best played on the pitch.
37:40Yeah, it was, to be fair, I kind of looked at it also tonight, the game.
37:45It was very good.
37:47Oh, I want to go.
37:48It was very good.
37:55I'm going to do Diacon.
37:57Diacon or Diacon, I don't know how to say it, but I like the composure, though.
38:01There's no mistake about that one.
38:02I mean, the way he goes inside, you know, if he goes back on his right foot again,
38:07you know, he will, he will score, but I mean, he didn't have to do that.
38:11That's a great finish.
38:11That's a great win for Bruges.
38:13Oh, I love that.
38:14And the usual way to go and speak to the crowd after, obviously, with their leader, Antoine Aken that has been there for a very, very, very, very long time, special player.
38:26Oh, so good scenes there.
38:29Let me take you over to Sporting, who are playing Kyra at Almaty tonight.
38:33A bit of an unfortunate error before the game.
38:36Yes, they played the wrong anthem.
38:39The Europa League anthem rang out.
38:41Yeah.
38:41Has that happened before?
38:42Yeah, I think it was.
38:43I think it was a professional dinner.
38:45Yeah, I'm sure.
38:45Ah, okay.
38:46Good bye-bye.
38:46That's what I remember.
38:50Well, it happened for Sporting tonight.
38:51Didn't stop them performing, though.
38:534-1, the final score for them.
38:54Big scoreline over Kyra at Almaty.
38:57Yeah, because it was a Thursday.
38:58Yeah, that's what it is.
39:02Oh, what a finish.
39:02By the way, the two goals of Trincao are just, I mean, that's just him being him.
39:08The way he caresses that ball to go in the top corner, I mean, the keeper can maybe do a bit better.
39:14And the same way he's going to score this one.
39:17Look at the finish.
39:19Look at this.
39:20I mean, they get a bit fortunate, but there's nothing fortunate about it when he stops, puts himself in a situation where he can score.
39:27Oh, wow.
39:31The ball came from the player of Almaty, but hey, look at the finish.
39:35He guides it in the top corner once again.
39:40And the 3-0 was Alisson Santos.
39:44And, as I said, the game was over at Tuna.
39:47It's just going to be how many more that they score.
39:50Sporting Lisbon takes a little deflection.
39:53As it's from Quenda.
39:54Yes.
39:54He then scored the full cheer.
39:58You're a huge fan of this, lad, aren't you?
39:59I like him because he's not scared, as you saw there.
40:02He took the ball.
40:04I'm not going to comment.
40:06Oops.
40:06I...
40:07See you.
40:08This kid is special.
40:12I've seen him at the Euro Under-21, like I said to you and a bit before.
40:15I mean, the way he goes about what he does, I like it.
40:19You know, he has no fear.
40:20You will expect that from a youngster.
40:23But there's something special about him.
40:25I just hope that he can show it for a very long time.
40:28I mean, you can understand the celebration there, him throwing his shirt and stuff like that,
40:33because, you know, that's the beginning, hopefully, of a long story, hopefully.
40:40Yeah, Karel Amati did get one back, so 4-1, the final score in that one.
40:43We do have one more segment to come, everybody.

42:38Well, Match Day One lasted three days is now officially in the books.
43:08Match Day Two, a couple of weeks away.
43:10I guess interesting headlines that came out of this Match Day One.
43:12One of them would be the fact that Benfica losing to Karabag,
43:16and then deciding to part ways with their manager,
43:18then appointing Jose Mourinho to come in and take charge.
43:22So it all happened very quickly.
43:23His first Champions League match in charge, interestingly,
43:26will be Chelsea on Match Day Two.
43:29We will be sending Peter to that game,
43:31so hoping that he will manage to bag us a Jose Mourinho interview.
43:34Hopefully we'll get to have him in the studio.
43:37That was the last time that Jose Mourinho was in charge of Benfica.
43:40How many years ago did you say, Thierry?
43:4125.
43:4225 years ago, and he's come back around.

44:34Look at Jim.
44:35Why don't you look at Jimmy?
44:36So we've been having a bit of banter about the Merseyside derby,
44:39but the highlight of today is trying to see Miles open a pack of the kids.
44:43Oh, my gosh.
44:46That was a set.
44:47Miles.
44:48Oh, they set you up.
44:49Talk me through it.
44:49What happened there?
44:50Just Miles.
44:53It was stressing you out, wasn't it?
44:55It really was.
44:55It really was stressing me out.
44:57You look hotter than Michael.
44:58Yeah.
45:01And Thierry, smooth with it.
45:04But the other highlight for me, the other highlight for me was Miles told us this week
45:10he could speak French.

45:45If Everton win, I've got to go to your local.
