People of London: Should we take social media away from children?

We ask Londoners what they think about social media and the rules around children.

00:00There need to be some controls. I don't know about banning but certainly they do because

00:04you know they've been sort of young teens committing suicide by what they've seen

00:10online and that and these groups so yeah there has to be some control. Yeah I'm glad that my

00:17children it was just about starting but no they didn't get involved with it because it is a worry

00:24for parents. Not allowing kids to use it during school so they're not distracted from learning

00:29what they should be learning I think it's really important. Social media has been the ruin of our

00:34young society. Parental lock yeah like all that because like there's actually quite a lot of good

00:39functionality across a lot of apps already and I think maybe it's just a case that parents have to

00:44get up to speed on some of that stuff and not just be kind of relying on the government enforcing such

00:50stuff because I think that's kind of where you get into the overreach discussion with government. I

00:55think parents probably need to take a bit more of the responsibility when it comes to that.
