00:00it's a bird it's a plane it's your food delivery some people in the Dallas Fort Worth area are
00:17looking to the skies and getting their meals delivered by drones drones like that are now
00:25dropping off pizza burritos and more several companies are now offering these drone deliveries
00:31and businesses say they see a lot of benefits things like convenience faster delivery and no need to tip
00:38a driver certain times a day it can take you know 20 30 minutes just to go a few miles and so if you're
00:47in need of a product or if you want your food hot and fresh a drone could be the best way to get it to
00:53you among the companies using drone deliveries through partnerships include Walmart Chipotle
00:59and go to foods which operates Carvel Cinnabon and more one of the companies operating these
01:05drones includes Flytrex which is allowed to fly six drones at a time they have a remote pilot who
01:12monitors deliveries and ensures drones are flying safely a lot of people are really excited it's
01:18not something you get to experience everywhere and you know you get those people that are kind
01:24of skeptical of drones but here in Granbury it's kind of growing and I think everyone knows Flytrex
01:28now customers are able to use an app to order drone deliveries for the first one you must enter your
01:35address which needs to be approved then the order goes out and the flight begins we have what we call
01:41a runner they go and pick up the order from the restaurant they bring it back here once it's here
01:46we'll weigh it and make sure it's within our weight limits we'll put it in our bag make sure it's nice
01:51and balanced then we take off the drone boat it on the drone and the drone flies to the destination
01:57while this new technology has some people excited it does not come without concerns there's noise issues
02:04there's also privacy issues that people have been you know concerned about and then and then also one
02:10thing that I wanted to mention that there's also safety safety is actually the major concern but
02:16that the industry has been very much aware of it they have been doing all kinds of things to avoid
02:20any potential collisions of drones then of course there's the regulatory issues that will come as
02:26well which is why Texas has been the testing ground Texas is more business friendly in certain
02:33ways and for certain technologies than perhaps other major metro areas might be and that was a major obstacle
02:42for drones particularly related to cost despite any concerns the people we spoke with believe drone
02:49delivery will become much more commercially available over the next several years pointing to places like
02:55China where the service has already reached commercial scale there's gonna be growing pens you know that the
03:01pain is gonna show up because of just like a city could develop the congestion is gonna show up and so on we need to
03:06figure out a way to make them work we need to figure out a way to allow multiple companies to share the airspace
