00:00Welcome to our latest video from the Auto Magazine Tuning Blog, where we introduce you to the IWASU5.
00:11An exciting electric SUV from China that has been causing a stir in Germany since 2020.
00:18The IWASU5 began pre-sales in 2020 with an entry-level price of 37,990 euros.
00:25In comparison, the prices of the Tiguan Allspace at the time started at 33,855 euros for the 150-horsepower petrol version.
00:35But for this price, the IWASU offers an electric vehicle with an impressive 204-horsepower and a range of 410 kilometers according to the WLTP standard.
00:45The energy consumption is an economical 70.4 kilowatt-hours per 100 kilometers per hour.
00:50In addition to the basic standard model, there is also a premium equipment line for €40,990.
00:58The IWASU5 impresses with its excellent price-performance ratio and, with its extensively equipped basic model, is one of the most affordable electric cars in its segment.
01:10The individual parts and components are of high quality and performance, range, space and charging capacity are more than suitable for everyday use.
01:18The consumption is also quite economical.
01:22The IWASU5 is sold via the electronics retailer Euronics, whereby the stated price already takes the dealer fee into account.
01:30For the 2022 model year, the IWASU5 has received some innovations in terms of technology, equipment and pricing structure.
01:38Since April 2022, the IWASU5 has been available in the new versions X-Kite, formerly Standard, and Prime, formerly Premium.
01:46The IWASU5 is now equipped as standard with a universal ICB charging cable for three-phase 11 kilowatts charging.
01:54Visually, there are hardly any changes.
01:57The models can still be ordered in gray paint or with a black roof for an additional charge.
02:02IWAS has also improved the onboard charger.
02:05The IWASU5 now charges at 11 kilowatts instead of the previous 6.6k, which reduces the charging time of the 63 kilowatt-hours battery from around 10 to just under 6 hours.
02:15The fast charging capacity remains unchanged at 90 kilowatts.
02:19The range of the compact crossover is between 400 and 410 kilometers, depending on the equipment variant, and prices start at around 39,670 euros.
02:28Compared to last year's model, the basic X-Kite version of the IWASU5 is a few hundred euros more expensive.
02:37Equipment includes 17-inch rims and dual-zone air conditioning.
02:41The better-equipped prime model with 19-inch wheels and parking sensors costs from 45,550 euros.
02:49Both variants qualify for the maximum e-car bonus of 9,570 euros gross.
02:54Inside, the U5 impresses with comfortable leather seats and generous space.
03:00The trunk in particular impresses with up to 1,619L of storage space.
03:07The cockpit impresses with a futuristic oval-shaped steering wheel and a 12.3-inch touchscreen that connects to the smartphone via Android Auto.
03:15There is no integrated navigation system, as iOS assumes that most users use their smartphones for navigation.
03:26Despite its weight, the 204-horsepower electric crossover appears surprisingly light-footed.
03:33For the 2022 model year, IWASU has also made minor cosmetic changes, such as the option to order the U5 in gray.
03:40The electric drive remains essentially unchanged with 150 kilowatts of power and a 63 kilowatt-hours battery, which enables a range of up to 410 kilometers.
03:53The new onboard charger now allows three-phase charging with 11 kilowatts, which significantly shortens the charging time.
04:00The DC charging power remains constant at 90 kilowatts and the charging time from 20-80% is still 35 minutes.
04:08Another technical change concerns the antenna for Derby Plus reception, which has now been installed out of sight.
04:17The two equipment lines X-Site and Prime have been renamed, but retain their essential features.
04:22Guide offers 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone air conditioning and several driver assistance systems, while Prime also includes 19-inch wheels, a tailgate that can be activated by remote control or foot control, front parking sensors and automatic parking assistance.
04:40The U5 X-Site starts at 33,325 euros net, 306,655 euros gross or 3,066 euros and 75 cents after deduction of the environmental bonus.
04:52The Prime model is available from 38 euros, 75 net, 45 euros purchase and 45 euros gross and costs 3,597,725 euros after subsidies.
05:04The premium model is therefore around 3,500 euros more expensive than last year.
05:10Alexander Kloza, Vice President of Overseas Operations at Byways, explains,
05:15The changes for the 2022 model year give our first model a fresh new style.
05:19The Iways U5 SUV marked the beginning of the Iways journey in 2019 and the latest changes will ensure its continued popularity as we expand our presence across the continent.
05:35In addition to the U5, Iways is also working on its second model, the SUV Coupe U6, which completed its final winter tests in Hongjiang Province, China in March.
05:45Prototypes covered over 15,000 kilometers in temperatures below minus 30 degrees C's.
05:53The U6 is set to be launched in the third quarter of 2022 both in China and internationally.
06:00Iways is currently active in 14 European countries.
06:05Additionally, Iways now offers the U5 with a retrofittable towbar, which is available on vehicles from model year 2021 onwards.
06:13This can be obtained through local service partners in Germany, Belgium, Denmark and Sweden.
06:20The maximum towing capacity is 1,100 kilogram with brake trailers, loads and 750 kilograms with unbrake loads with a dynamic drawbar load of 100 kilogram.
06:30Overall, the Iways U5 presents itself as a great all-rounder for families, commuters and leisure activities, offering something for almost every budget.
06:42With its combination of good features, solid performance and attractive prices, the U5 is a serious option in the segment of mid-size electric SUVs from China.
