Der neue Kia EV5 ist da und bringt frischen Wind in das heiß umkämpfte Segment der elektrischen Mittelklasse-SUVs. Mit seinem 81 kWh-Akku, bis zu 530 km Reichweite und 218 PS bietet er solide Technik für den Alltag. Später soll auch eine Allradversion mit 268 PS folgen. Die Ladeleistung liegt bei maximal 120 kW – kein Spitzenwert, aber für die Preisklasse völlig in Ordnung.

Innen überzeugt der EV5 mit viel Platz, praktischer Ausstattung und physischer Bedienung. Vor allem Familien dürften den geräumigen Fond, die cleveren Details wie USB-C-Anschlüsse oder Sitzheizung hinten und den großzügigen Kofferraum mit 566 l zu schätzen wissen.

00:00Welcome to the video from the Auto Magazine Tuning Blog, where today we will introduce you to the brand new Kia EV5.
00:07A fully electric SUV that is positioned as a direct response to models such as the Skoda Octavia, Tesla Model Y and Volkswagen ID.4.
00:17While Kia is already celebrating great sales success with the EV3 and the market launch of the EV4 is imminent,
00:23the next promising model is already in the starting blocks with the EV5.
00:26The Kia EV5 is based on the IGMP platform, which is already used for the EV6, EV9 and EV3 models.
00:36However, just like the EV3, the EV5 uses a variant with an onboard voltage of 400V and front-wheel drive in the basic version,
00:44in contrast to the 800V technology and rear-wheel drive of the EV6.
00:50These differences are not only reflected in the charging capacity.
00:53The EV5 charges at a maximum of around 120K, but also in the general positioning of the vehicle.
01:02Technically less complex, but significantly cheaper and suitable for families.
01:07While the EV6 achieves up to 250kW at fast-charging stations,
01:12Kia deliberately focuses on more affordable technology for the EV5 in order to appeal to a broader range of buyers.
01:17With a length of around 4.6 meters, a width of 1.9 meters, a height of 1.7 meters and a wheelbase of around 2.8 meters,
01:28the EV5 is visually and functionally positioned between the EV3 and EV9.
01:32The boot holds a solid 56L and therefore offers enough space for everyday family life.
01:41The amount of space is particularly impressive in the back seat.
01:45Even taller adults will find sufficient leg and headroom there, even with the panoramic roof.
01:51Thanks to the well-thought-out interior design with low-position batteries,
01:54the seating comfort remains impressive even on longer journeys.
01:59Added to this are convenience features such as USB-C ports, heated rear seats and an ergonomically comfortable seat height,
02:05which is particularly popular with families.
02:08Up front, you can expect an interior design that is very reminiscent of the EV3,
02:13but impresses with physical buttons for the most important functions.
02:17Automatic climate control, navigation and assistance systems can be operated separately from the touchscreen.
02:22A practical advantage in everyday life.
02:25Anyone familiar with Kia will also recognize the hidden start button in the steering column stock on the EV5.
02:31A small detail that is sure to get people talking.
02:35At market launch, the EV5 is equipped with an 81 kWh battery,
02:40which Kia says should be sufficient for around 530 kilometers according to the WLTP.
02:46The front wheels are driven by an electric motor with an output of around 218 horsepower.
02:52A variant with all-wheel drive is to follow later,
02:55which will then generate around 268 horsepower via a second electric motor on the rear axle.
03:02A cheaper version with a smaller battery, probably around 65 kWh,
03:07is planned for the end of 2026 at the earliest, according to Kia.
03:11In terms of price, the Kia EV5 is deliberately positioned below the EV6.
03:19Although there are no official details yet,
03:22experts assume that the starting price should be around 45,000 euros,
03:25depending on the equipment and battery size.
03:27This puts it in direct competition with the electric Pog 3008,
03:34the Škoda NAC or the Volkswagen ID.4.
03:38And even if not everyone is a fan of the angular new Kia design,
03:42the sales figures for the EV3 clearly show that the concept works.
03:45The market for electric SUVs in the mid-price segment is hotly contested
03:51and with the EV5, Kia is launching a model that does many things right.
