Sudan remains open to initiatives to end the war but has yet to see concrete progress under the United States led Quad, says Hassan Abdel Salam Omer.
The Sudanese ambassador to Malaysia was responding to reports of a truce agreed in principle between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.
00:00There are reports that the Sudanese army and RSF have agreed to agree on troops mediated by the United States, and this is according to U.S. President Senior Advisor Manjad Duloc.
00:13Can you confirm whether this is true and what are your thoughts?
00:17We didn't reach any agreement on this thing now as far as I haven't received anything confirming that.
00:25But as I said, and we keep saying always, we in Sudan, we are open for any initiatives or any facilitation that can bring an end to this ugly war and let our people go back to their home and live.
00:47But our experience showing us that you cannot trust the RSF.
00:54And I would like to remind you, like, in the early days of the war, Sudan went to accept the Jeddah declaration and Jeddah platform to be the form for negotiation.
01:08And there was an agreement at one point that there will be a truce and a ceasefire.
01:14But the RSF breached this agreement and violated it many times.
01:24So it's become very wide understanding or conviction among Sudanese people that is, you cannot trust the RSF.
01:37But as I said, our stand with any peace resolutions or peace initiatives that meet the inspiration of Sudanese people,
01:53the integrity of their territory, the sovereignty of their state, and their desire to continue the path of a democratic transformation,
