00:01Scott straight to the red line.
00:04Damage.
00:05Damage.
00:06Don't do that!
00:07Stay still!
00:08Derbyshire traffic cops.
00:10It does have warning markers for potential firearms.
00:15Don't hold it!
00:16You're under arrest.
00:17Intent supply class of peer drug.
00:19Police a thousand square miles.
00:23It's a crash, crash.
00:25You got any other injury other than your head?
00:27With some of the UK's most dangerous roads.
00:30Oh, nobody's been killed out of this.
00:32I don't know.
00:33Do you know how fast we're going?
00:34It's scary when stuff like this happened.
00:36In life and death situations.
00:39Get on the ground, you'll be chasing!
00:41We've got runners.
00:42Face down.
00:45Yes, yes, successful stink.
00:49Around every corner.
00:51Great acting, mate.
00:53There's a new challenge for the traffic cops.
00:57They've got a vehicle now!
01:00I'm going home.
01:01David!
01:02Stop grabbing me like that!
01:06It's crash, crash, crash!
01:08Coming up.
01:09The vehicle is now boxed in.
01:11Get out of the car!
01:12Get out of the car!
01:13Get out of the car!
01:14Cracking down on drug gangs.
01:16This is the largest amount that I've ever seen or had any dealings with.
01:20I'm just the driver.
01:22Stop!
01:23Stop!
01:24Stop!
01:25Ruling through fear.
01:27I just had once a trimming on the knife in my back.
01:32And the dealers.
01:35You're being detained on the Section 23 of the Mr. Drug Act.
01:39Cashing in on the victims.
01:42Police!
01:43Police!
01:44Police!
01:45Police!
01:46Police!
01:47Police!
01:48Police!
01:49Police!
01:50Police!
01:51Police!
01:52Police!
01:53Police!
01:54Police!
01:55Police!
01:56From an eight to all units.
01:57Looking at this vehicle on intelligence, the suspects of this vehicle, they are linked to
02:01drug supply.
02:02Can I go 1-9?
02:03Go ahead.
02:04Yes, yes.
02:05I'm about two miles from north.
02:10With drug seizures on the rise, officers like PC Craig Dawes are out targeting drug runners.
02:21The drug trade is really, really significant.
02:24I think it's become a big problem.
02:27It appears now that the amount of drugs that's been seized, the ease that drugs are available,
02:33the vehicles that we're stopping, that's containing drugs.
02:36It just seems that it's part and parcel of life now, and it's quite openly there.
02:40Vehicle is being followed at 1-0-1.
02:43It's falling off.
02:44It's falling off.
02:45It's falling off.
02:46It's falling off.
02:47It's falling off.
02:48Message from Derbysh traffic.
02:49Oscar Tango 1-9.
02:50Officer Tango 1-1.
02:51Vehicle is being 4-4.
02:52As we speak.
02:53Colleagues from other forces have got behind a vehicle that they believe is involved in
03:08high-end crime.
03:09The officers have got unmarked cars behind it.
03:13They don't believe that they're being compromised.
03:17They're able to follow the vehicle quite closely.
03:20From Oscar Tango 1-9, Derbyshire, you have got myself.
03:24High performance fully marked if I can assist in any way.
03:27That's brilliant.
03:28Is there any possibility to get a Stinger site around there?
03:31There's only the slip road, but it's very, very busy at this time.
03:34Subject vehicles, committed, committed.
03:36M1, no.
03:37If the Derbyshire mobile can get a Stinger site, that would be helpful.
03:42Yeah, I can wait at exit slip, and then if it continues I can assist you.
03:48I think you've got an ALV as well behind me.
03:54Do you want to take command with your recess onto your course area?
03:58Yeah, 1-9.
03:59I'll take control if that's okay.
04:01Then I'll put it on this channel and start putting some plan together.
04:06Oscar Tango 3-1, I've just been tasked.
04:09That's all my attention.
04:12Other units, including traffic cop Nigel Waller, are rushing to assist.
04:17Yeah, I think we've got two units now, plus their units behind, so we could put a T-pack on.
04:22If you let us know when it's committed, we'll form up and drop in behind you.
04:26If you keep a running commentary.
04:38Friday afternoon, the volume of traffic through Derbyshire is really, really heavy.
04:42It will backlog very, very quickly.
04:44And, you know, you're thinking, what's going to happen here?
04:49Derbyshire units, we've got the ability to get one of our cars out.
04:52Put a rolling block on.
04:56Yeah, 1-4, I can do that.
04:59Yeah, I'll put the safety on after the tanker.
05:05The plan initially is to surround the vehicle and box it in.
05:09But with that option, you've still got a risk, because you then bring in members of the public into play.
05:15From Oscar Tango 1-4, block it on.
05:17M1 Northbound.
05:19Oscar Tango 1-1.
05:20We are two thirds of a mile.
05:23Pre-emptive tactics is the preferred option at this time.
05:27Should the vehicle fail to stop, then your short pursuit is authorised.
05:32The vehicle is committed.
05:35Committed.
05:36M1 North.
05:37Passing the off slip.
05:39Yep, from 1-9, we are on the entry slip, waiting for you to call that you've gone past.
05:45Yes, yes.
05:46No worries.
05:47To lane 4-4.
05:48Passing on slip.
05:494-4.
05:50Subject vehicle moved into lane 3-4.
05:51Traffic is known significantly.
05:52Speed is 2-0.
05:532-0 miles per hour.
05:54Yep, at your call then.
05:55And the Derbyshire is calling.
05:56Do you think it's appropriate to put a box on?
05:57Tango 1-1.
05:58Subject vehicle has moved to lane 1-4.
05:59It's going to be a way of our presence now, because obviously the marked unit has gone from 4-1.
06:19We need to get it on.
06:21Tango 1-1.
06:22Move up.
06:23Move up.
06:24Move up.
06:27Move up.
06:28Tango 1-1.
06:29Subject vehicle is now boxing.
06:34Tango 1-1.
06:36Subject vehicle is now boxing.
06:41Tango 1-1.
06:42Subject vehicle is now boxing.
06:47Get out!
06:48I'm moving!
06:49Get out of the car! Get out! Get out! Get on the floor!
06:54Get on the floor! Get on the floor!
06:56Get on the floor! Get on the floor!
06:58Give me your arms! Give me your arms!
07:00Cuff! Cuff! Cuff! You've got him!
07:02My God!
07:03At the moment, you're a flashman tent, supply class, a drug.
07:10Right, we're on the side.
07:12Pick up at the moment, move your legs in.
07:14Move your legs in.
07:15Make or stop, no damage.
07:16Melty tape.
07:17On your arse, and...
07:18We'll get you...
07:19Right, you alright now?
07:21Alright? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
07:22Yeah, okay.
07:23Good.
07:24We slow things down now.
07:25Alright?
07:26But at the moment, you're under arrest.
07:27Right?
07:28What we'll do is turn to caution.
07:29So anything you'll see is evidential.
07:31Alright?
07:32We'll get you off the board of here, and we'll get you dealt with.
07:34Hopefully, alright?
07:35I'm just a driver.
07:36Come on, let's get you up.
07:37Right.
07:38Three...
07:39Three...
07:40Two...
07:41One! Up you go!
07:42This one.
07:43Yeah, yeah, yeah.
07:44Come on, pal.
07:45Yeah.
07:46Are you happy to move?
07:47Are those cops alright?
07:48Yeah.
07:49Are they alright?
07:50I've got a broken right.
07:51It's short of your head.
07:54That's his shed light.
07:55I said it's ten.
07:56It's ten.
07:58As soon as the boots opened, we realised that, you know, this is quite a significant amount of drugs in the back.
08:04We'll take this as well.
08:05We'll take this as well.
08:06Come and turn my reins off, please.
08:08And they're from one nine.
08:10I don't know obviously what's been passed.
08:11We're going to take this gentleman and his car so he can get the motorway opened again.
08:15The officers move the suspect and his car off the motorway so they can be properly searched.
08:21It's always difficult when there's heavy moving traffic and you're trying to get around the other subjects going to and from.
08:28I think he was going to think about going but luckily we all worked together, knew what we were doing and got the box on.
08:35One male detained and it looks like a large quantity of drugs.
08:41He's got a lot of questions to answer.
08:44He's a suspect but you've also got to look at the, is he a victim of cuckooing?
08:51It does happen and people do get bullied into it, you know, and they rule with fright.
08:58Cuckooing is something that we're finding where these gangs will target the vulnerable.
09:04That can be from basically befriending them to then taking over the flat or house where they will go and deal the drugs from.
09:13Or being made to transport drugs up and down the country through fear of violence.
09:19And it's becoming more and more common.
09:22So what we do now is we need to get the vehicles off the motorway.
09:26That's the main thing.
09:27You know, a motorway lane one and two at four o'clock on a Friday afternoon is not the ideal location to do any kind of business.
09:37So yeah, we'll get to the services and we'll sort it from there.
09:48We'll put them in front stack.
09:49All right.
09:50You're not too tight, please.
09:52There you go.
09:53Put my fat finger in there, so plenty of room.
09:56Nothing sharp that's going to hurt me, are you?
09:58No, sir, no.
09:59I'm just the driver.
10:00At the moment, we've got to go through a process.
10:02All right.
10:03And that process starts here.
10:04So we're going to go to Ripley Police Station where you're going to go to custody.
10:07Don't sit me in a cell for a reason.
10:08We're not.
10:09No, we'll try to.
10:10Yeah, go in there, mate.
10:11Go and sort it.
10:12All right.
10:17The driver is being taken to custody for interview.
10:21We've located a large cardboard box with 10 green packaging.
10:29I believe that packages now could be cocaine with an estimated value of each block, possibly
10:36£40,000 a block, which at this stage, we believe it's going to be £400,000.
10:42Street value, roughly, it's been estimated that it may be over £1 million worth on the street.
10:48It's estimated more than £9 billion worth of illegal drugs are sold in the UK every year.
10:55This is the largest amount that I've ever seen or had any dealings with through my time.
11:00It just shows you what is being transported up and down that motor on a daily basis,
11:04where, you know, you'd think it wasn't.
11:06You look at the car.
11:07Does it stand out?
11:08You know, no.
11:09It's just a general, bog-standard car with that in the boot, you know.
11:14Normally, these cars on a Friday have got your Aldi, Lidl and Tesco shopping in.
11:19Instead, we've now got a large quantity of drugs that's been seized.
11:22So, you know, it's a great resort.
11:27Hello.
11:28Coming up.
11:29Where's your number plate?
11:30A suspected runner on two wheels.
11:34It's a motorbike making up for me in Derby.
11:37Desperate to get away.
11:39I'm a bit suspecting into a park.
11:43Yes, yes, sir. Vehicle's failing to stop.
11:46And more drug pushers.
11:48One's alighted from the back.
11:50Making a run for it.
11:52There's another one out and running.
11:53Putting users under threat.
11:55Stop, stop, stop.
11:56I've just had a knife in my back.
12:00You've got two TP-up units.
12:06Let's have a walk by.
12:09Yeah, they can do it without you.
12:10With drug offences on the rise across Derbyshire,
12:14traffic cops like Andy Swift are looking out for suspects running drugs.
12:29Hello. Where's your number plate, my friend?
12:44It's a motorbike making up to me in Derby.
12:49We're currently 5.5 miles per hour.
12:53Permission for the suit, please.
12:59And Bolton Lane, speed is currently 5.0 and 3.0.
13:03The array is low.
13:07We get people riding on mopeds and bikes,
13:10driving around, dealing drugs,
13:12and it is a country-wide problem.
13:15There's massive demand for controlled substances,
13:18Class A drugs, Class B, Class C.
13:23Can we get a local stinger dog unit and potentially
13:26M-PASS, if possible?
13:29Pursuit. Vehicle is right, right, right.
13:46Vehicle is currently going off-road into a park.
13:48Stand by.
13:49It's safe to continue.
13:54The vehicle is into the fields.
13:59Thank you, Class.
14:03Any units could start making their way down to Derby Road or Snowdsmore Lane.
14:07You may come out on that way.
14:11Fellow Lansway.
14:12Go to Fellow Lansway.
14:14For information, the rider is wearing grey tracksuit bottoms.
14:22He's got a black puffer jacket on.
14:24He's a white male, I'd say early twenties,
14:26and he's got a black helmet.
14:28Full face.
14:29I'm going to stay where I am, mate.
14:30Yes, that's a good plan.
14:31Drugs are the sole motivator for most crime.
14:46People who are committing your burglaries, your shop thefts, theft of cars, commercial burglaries.
14:52Most of it is down to pay for drugs.
14:56And as soon as you stop one person who's at the bottom of the chain dealing drugs, someone has replaced them three hours later.
15:02Just doing the same thing again.
15:04It's very difficult to catch these people because obviously they just go off-road, but they're always worthwhile trying to stop.
15:11There's probably a good eight hours of the shift left, so let's see what else we can turn up.
15:20Across town, traffic cop Sergeant Scott Riley is also on the lookout for drug runners.
15:26I think drugs are a big issue everywhere, really.
15:31I can't really say whether it's any worse here than it is in other places,
15:35because obviously I've only worked in Derbyshire, but it's certainly a problem that's not gone away for my 22 years of service.
15:42Five minutes later, he spots another suspicious vehicle.
15:48Are they receiving us as Tango CR4?
15:51Yeah.
15:521015 vehicle, check please at column number 2459.
15:58I suspect this will just be a bit of a boy race.
16:05Yeah, there's something up with this.
16:08Yeah, there's something up with this.
16:16Yes, yes sir, vehicle's failing to stop.
16:19Advanced driver, pursuit, T-PAC.
16:23They already got a load at this time.
16:27Weather conditions are wet.
16:29Speed is six, zero.
16:33Right, right, right.
16:36While Scott pursues the suspect, Andy and PC Dan Mitchell race to provide backup.
16:44You're listening to the response possible steamer on.
16:47Thank you for, sir.
16:55Yes sir, stay on race.
16:56They're all low.
16:59On the brakes, on approach to the junction.
17:01And it is a left, left, left.
17:06Speed is seven, zero.
17:10Can I have Empaths and Oscar Juliet, please, on approach to that junction.
17:14Where are we best going?
17:15And it is a right, right, right, right, and then a left, left, left.
17:21We're gonna go back to the main road.
17:22Same road.
17:27Yeah, we're still within the estate.
17:32Yes, yes.
17:33One's alighted from the back.
17:35Please, finger, please.
17:36There's another one out and running, another one out and running.
17:46I believe, now, there'll just be one driver in the vehicle.
17:52So stop, stop, stop.
17:55Another unit dealer, please.
17:56Where are you?
17:57I've just had an ice in my back.
17:58I've just had an ice in my back.
17:59Telling me to go.
18:01Safe and well melt the tank.
18:02I've just had a wanted trimming on it, so I've had an ice in my back.
18:07I've just had an ice in my back.
18:09I've just had an ice in my back.
18:11Telling me to go.
18:13Safe and well melt the tank.
18:15I've just had a wanted trimming on it, so I've had an ice in my back.
18:23I'm not giving you no trouble, folks.
18:26I'm not giving you no trouble, though.
18:30That's why I stopped for you as soon as you got out.
18:3310-15 persons, please.
18:342459.
18:36Ask Charlie 1-5.
18:40Quite a bit of a registry.
18:42Controlled, say, heroin, crack cocaine.
18:45Yeah, lovely.
18:46I would suggest that's what his friends were doing.
18:49Have you been drinking tonight?
18:50No.
18:51I can smell alcohol in your breath.
18:52I can hear.
18:53Yeah?
18:54I can smell.
18:55No.
18:56No.
18:57No.
18:58No.
18:59No.
19:00No.
19:01No.
19:02No.
19:03No.
19:04Just think about that.
19:06There's some material.
19:08I remember that.
19:10It's fine.
19:11Told me to get him away far enough.
19:13But you've seen me let him out, surely?
19:17Pumps here on the end of the tube.
19:19All on the continuous breath test, take a stop.
19:21Keep going, keep going, keep going.
19:23Hang up.
19:25Otherwise we're doing 16 statements.
19:29The driver's under the ego limit.
19:31Right, of course you've passed the outside breath test,
19:33but because of the manner of you driving,
19:35I suspect that you're under the info or something.
19:37I can also smell cannabis.
19:38So my colleague's going to do a drugs test on you, alright?
19:41Sergeant, there's a large machete in the back of the tube.
19:43Oh.
19:44Oh, that'll be what I had in my back.
19:47OK, so you're saying you're under the rest to drive like that, are you?
19:49He told me if I didn't get him far enough away from you to jump,
19:54he was going to stab me.
19:56That's why as soon as they got out of the car, they stopped.
19:59So what were they doing in your car then?
20:01How did they get in your car?
20:02And it's just about story, I think.
20:04What I suspect that they're doing with him is he's a drug user,
20:10they will be using him to drive them around Derby because he's insured,
20:16he's got a licence, they will be doing their deals,
20:20they will be delivering their drugs to anybody in Derby.
20:24It's like a bit of an Uber for the drug dealer really.
20:28And they will just slide in his drugs free of charge for his night's work.
20:34I'm going to go to the back of my stand.
20:36I'm going to go to the back of my stand.
20:38I'm going to go to the charge.
20:40While Dan waits for the results of the drugs wipe,
20:42Scott deals with the driver.
20:44At this moment of time I'm arresting you on suspicion of dangerous driving,
20:48failing to stop for the police,
20:50possession of an offensive weapon and possession of cannabis.
20:54And you'll go to Derby Custody and then you'll be interviewed.
20:58And everything that he's saying about being under duress,
21:00you can tell us on interview, alright.
21:02As you can see, cannabis and cocaine,
21:04there's a red line on the control line
21:06and then there's a red line on both the test lines.
21:09So he's positive for both.
21:11So we're going to have a blood test now back at Custody.
21:19Drug driving's a big problem,
21:21but we've now got kits where we can test
21:24whether a driver's showing positive for cannabis or cocaine.
21:28And the hit rate on it is startling really.
21:32I'm further arresting you for driving
21:35whilst under the influence of a controlled substance.
21:38A search of the car raises suspicions further.
21:43Hey, there's a key seat knife in the back, Danny, if you want.
21:46Oh, we've got another one.
21:49Oh.
21:54Well, these combat knives, don't they?
22:02There's two knives.
22:03That was on the floor on the rear side and near,
22:06so passenger side, it's probably about, I don't know,
22:09blades probably about, what, 15 inches long maybe?
22:11And then there's another one, another combat knife,
22:13and that's probably about, what, 12 inches probably.
22:15So I'm sure if they were to be used on you,
22:18you won't come out very well.
22:20So I think they call them some potentially zombie knives,
22:24I'm not really sure, definitely combat knives.
22:26It's horrendous to think that they're on the street.
22:29They've got no need to have those, only one reason,
22:32that's to, obviously, to hurt someone or to intimidate someone.
22:35That's all it's there for.
22:36I don't say this often, but I believe him.
22:39One's ran out, then another one's ran out,
22:42then he's stopped, and there is a big knife in the car.
22:45Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
22:47He's going to be trying it.
22:48And he's having you, isn't he?
22:49They'll be cuckooing, won't they?
22:50Yeah, they'll be cuckooing, won't they?
22:51Yeah, they'll be just running him about to deal the drugs,
22:54hence why there's a deal of cannabis on the back and a bit of money.
22:57And he's stopped.
22:58And a big knife.
22:59And then he's stopped when they've run off.
23:02He's clearly a drug user.
23:04Possession of those knives and the failed stock,
23:07I would suggest that's going nowhere,
23:09because they're not his knives, I wouldn't suggest.
23:12I would believe that they're the lads that were in the back.
23:15And if they're saying that we're going to kill you if you don't do this,
23:18then who wouldn't?
23:20The people at the top of the drugs trade are just exploiting people
23:23from the low-level dealers to your drug users.
23:27The people at the top are the ones that need to be targeted.
23:30And I know they do get targeted, but more often than not,
23:33it's the people at the bottom that fall.
23:36Cannabis is there, a very small amount.
23:39Not a huge deal whatsoever.
23:41So I imagine that whatever drugs they did have on them,
23:45they probably ran off with.
23:47The other two that are in the car.
23:49And obviously, they'll find some other poor victim to drive them round
23:52and deal the drugs as the circle unfortunately continues.
23:59I've got it. I've got the vehicle.
24:01Coming up...
24:02It's Kirk.
24:04You've been detained on the Section 23 of the Mr. Drugs Act.
24:08Derbyshire's road crime team hunt down a suspected dealer.
24:11Police!
24:13Police!
24:14Scotty, do you want this phone?
24:16Drug dealers really don't want us to have access to their phones.
24:20It says bright daylight, so we haven't even got the cover of darkness to assist us at the moment.
24:41Millions of pounds worth of drugs are trafficked around Derbyshire every year.
24:45There's nothing there, is there?
24:48To give us any kind of cover.
24:50It's not down there either.
24:52PC Nick Lovett and the road crime team are tasked with cracking down on dealers.
24:58Our main work on the unit is drug related.
25:03These individuals are dealing controlled drugs within Derbyshire.
25:09We will actively hunt these people down.
25:13Assistance and patience is key in our role.
25:18We're given a tasking and we won't stop until that tasking is complete.
25:23Even though we are in plain clothes, in plain cars, there's persons on the unit that have worked this area.
25:32There's a beat area before coming onto the unit, so we're all quite well known for some reason.
25:37Nick and the team are responding to intelligence about a local suspected dealer.
25:44We get information linking this individual to the supply of controlled drugs,
25:49believed to be Class A drugs, within the area of Ripley and surrounding areas.
25:53The main aim in the game today is to go out, locate him, stop him, search him and see what we find on him.
26:04Yeah, I think it's four, we'll find a plot location.
26:06Is that a plot location near Vexpress?
26:08Yeah.
26:09Sergeant Luke Christian and PC Dave Bull are also on the lookout.
26:13The individual is linked to certain properties in the Ripley area.
26:19We know he has access to certain vehicles.
26:22Those are the main source of our attention.
26:28The vehicle we're looking out for, one of them is a Nissan Qashqai.
26:33And the other is a Ford Transit Connect.
26:36We'll just try and get as close to him as we can in plain clothes and plain cars.
26:43And jump on him before he can run.
26:48The challenges that we'll face, where we want to be looking,
26:53is staying undiscovered really by the locals.
26:58We have to look at an area and we have to judge how long we can reasonably stay in the area for.
27:04Hey, mate, it's Nick.
27:07I'm literally on plot.
27:09Where do you want me to cover, mate?
27:12Just walk up, out the way of each other from where I'm at.
27:14Do you want to follow us?
27:16Will do, mate. Will do.
27:21But after four hours, there's no sign of the suspect.
27:25He lives to fight another day, doesn't he?
27:28But he will come at some point.
27:30We have to get lucky once.
27:33He has to be lucky every day. He goes out with a load of drugs, so...
27:37We have to go again another day.
27:40We've got four unmarked cars out.
27:43Yeah, it's just a case of flooding the area with police cars and trying to find him.
27:50And that's just how our work is. We don't give up.
27:53There's no sightings of the van or the Qashqai.
28:01I'm standing it down.
28:03Day one, nothing. Day two, still nothing. Day three, again, drawn a blank.
28:11He lives to fight another day.
28:14We will go again, again, and again, until we've stopped the person who we need to stop.
28:22The plan is, on a rainy Wednesday, we're back out looking for the same lad that we've been looking for the last couple of deployments in Ripley.
28:39We're back out with four unmarked cars to try and locate him, see if we can get him stopped.
28:44And here we are on day four, going again.
28:50You have to be a little bit patient, not force it.
28:53You can get a little bit downhearted, day after day after day, that you don't get a result.
28:57But when you do get a result, it makes it all better.
29:02Sky, I missed a little bit of that. What have you got, mate?
29:08We've got it. I've got the vehicle.
29:09One of my colleagues has seen the subject vehicle turning into the car park and into a parking bay.
29:18Hi.
29:28Hi.
29:29I'm going.
29:30How's it going?
29:31All right, mate.
29:33Coming.
29:34What's Craig?
29:38I'm good. How's it going?
29:41All right mate.
29:42How's it going?
29:43What's going on?
29:44At this moment in time, you're being detained on the Section 23 of the Missious Drugs Act
29:50for the purchase of the search, information linking you and the vehicle to the supply of controlled drugs.
29:54Yeah.
29:55Okay, obviously the objective of the search is to find out if you're in possession of any controlled drugs or not.
29:59I've literally just been in Bortsal.
30:01You've just been in Bortsal?
30:02Where is it?
30:03In the middle here.
30:04In the middle?
30:05Yeah.
30:06It's an egg thingy.
30:07It's not an egg thing.
30:08Yeah.
30:09Right, I'm going to hand you over.
30:11Yeah, I've got all of them.
30:13Where is it?
30:14In the middle, in the egg.
30:15Little kinder egg.
30:16In the egg.
30:17What is it?
30:18What is it?
30:19Cocaine.
30:20It's not uncommon to offer an amount up, so we're always cautious as to whether they've
30:27offered that up knowing there is another further amount and they hope that we will just take
30:32what they've offered up and leave and not search properly.
30:34Well, that certainly isn't the case with us.
30:36How much is it, mate?
30:37Six.
30:38I've just thought.
30:39Okay.
30:40And I'll be honest with you, mate.
30:41You're going to get locked up.
30:42I know, yeah, I agree.
30:43I'm going to search the house.
30:44Yeah, yeah, yeah.
30:45You sure?
30:46I've got nothing, no.
30:47Your phone?
30:48Yeah.
30:49Okay.
30:50What's the PIN number two?
30:51Not telling us.
30:52Okay.
30:53Fine.
30:54I'll just let you know, okay, at this moment in time you're under arrest on suspicion
30:59of possession of intense supply of Class A controlled drugs.
31:01All right.
31:02Okay.
31:03Oh, is it good to untended?
31:04You'll see a while, mate.
31:05Yeah.
31:06Yeah.
31:13A kinder egg, which contains a quantity of little small dealer bags of white powder,
31:20which he's saying is cocaine.
31:23So he's off to custody.
31:25And now we're going to go and do a search at his home address.
31:28A little bit of time is of the essence, really, because he's quite well known.
31:32So we need to get to address quite quickly.
31:44Sorry.
31:48Hiya.
31:50Open the door.
31:53Hello.
31:54Hello.
31:55Hello, mate.
31:56We're in.
31:57No issues.
31:58Bit of a result that we didn't have to put the door in.
32:02We see a female and two children in there.
32:05So we have to be mindful, obviously, of not scaring the kids and things.
32:09And yeah, we've got a job to do, but obviously we don't want to scare the kids, do we?
32:14So we'll go and start searching.
32:16Yeah.
32:17Get it done as quick as we can.
32:19We are looking for anything drug related, anything to prove the individuals linked to the supply of controlled drugs.
32:28Scott, did you want this phone?
32:29We locate a mobile phone.
32:31Mobile phones can be key to us within the investigation.
32:34And a lot of drug dealers and drug users really don't want us to have access to their phones.
32:40Are we all done in there?
32:42Yeah.
32:43We've just got to do the cash car.
32:54Very clean.
32:55Very tidy.
33:00Go ahead.
33:01Go ahead.
33:02If you want us to go in before you get there.
33:08We're going to a linked address that we've also got a warrant for.
33:11So we're just going on to that address quite quickly really.
33:21Probably not as fruitful as we'd hoped, but there's certainly items of interest in there.
33:26We've found a phone.
33:29Hopefully that's linked to him.
33:38What number?
33:39Is this it?
33:40Yeah.
33:47Police!
33:48Police!
33:49We're there to prove or disprove the information that we're getting.
33:55That these individuals are actively dealing controlled drugs from properties on the streets within Derbyshire.
34:06Nothing further is found at the second address.
34:09Nick and the team return to base to check in the evidence.
34:13We've found a quantity of drugs, mobile phones.
34:16When it's all pieced together, I believe that it will prove his involvement in supply or drugs.
34:24Persistence does pay off.
34:26Keep going and going and going.
34:27And that's down to the team's work ethic and drive to be taking these individuals off the street.
34:35He's then failed to stop for us and thrown out them five bags of white powder.
34:39Coming up, a suspect tries to ditch the evidence.
34:42We suspect it to be Class A, possibly crack cocaine.
34:46True test, you mean?
34:47Yeah.
34:48Yeah.
34:49So on the test line, you can already see there's a line coming up.
34:51No, no, you can do it.
34:52No, no.
34:53Never do it.
34:54Need to contact with the airport, please.
34:55Yeah, no worries, I'm a quarter of a mile from junction 26, so I'll not be long.
35:14Near Derby, PC Andy Swift is responding to a call for backup.
35:17for backup there's been a report earlier on of a vehicle that's made off from some amber valley
35:22divisional officers where they've stopped it and then when they've got out it's drove off and it's
35:27thrown a load of packets of white powder and so i'd imagine it's probably drugs related don't take a
35:32genius to work that out um i think by pure chance they've located it again um and it's actually
35:38been located i think parked up good skills everyone you
35:55hey up mate you're right we just come across as it's quite good news isn't it mate
36:00not liked it no one yeah is it you fell stop for earlier on yeah was it we'll have the car
36:05but i think it'll need a proper search do you want to shift this if we've got key what screw fix
36:13with the car on a busy road officers decide to relocate to a car park to search it properly
36:19want me to drive that yeah if you want then we'll still all go up in convoy how's that
36:22we've got keys for this this it may say that's what i think yeah we'll follow you up
36:29so we're just going to go on drop the car off for a better location
36:32if the car's believed to be involved in drug dealing obviously we've got the power to search
36:37it and we're going to search every inch of that car to try and find the evidence that we need
36:41to potentially end up prosecuting someone we don't want to let anything get past us
36:47so we were driving along the vehicle's gone past us at the junction high rate of speed so we've gone
36:52behind it with the intention of stopping it and wondering why it was going so quick he's then failed
36:58to stop for us and thrown out them five bags of white powder from the driver's window we've then
37:03managed to locate this vehicle in the next town over and secure the driver and he's currently arrested
37:10and pending interview we suspect it to be class a possibly crack cocaine
37:18no further drugs are found has he got any insurance at all no
37:23but now they need to check whether the suspect is driving legally have you got proof of it with
37:29you what is proof well yeah yeah you just give me this one and i tell you no no have you got a
37:35policy document have you got access to a policy document yeah if you let me to find no not at the
37:39moment what i'm saying you have got yeah yeah and have you got a license i have albana lunch have you
37:43got it with you no that's bad news then so how do we prove you've got a license
37:47i'm going to require you to find me especially in this library okay because i've got reasonable
37:52suspicion that you might be under the influence of drugs so i perform a roadside drugs test okay
37:58drug test you mean yeah yeah dip the tongue out like that and i'm going to scrape this on the
38:03tongue okay okay you can do what you want bro this test for cannabis and cocaine okay
38:10okay he's been subjected to a roadside drug test i think people don't realize how long it stays in
38:18your system and i think it's so much more prevalent nowadays i think a lot of people who would not
38:25drink drive don't realize that they are drug driving okay so it'll take about 10 10 minutes to work
38:32and we'll see what the results are okay yeah do you want to come sit in their car for us my car no
38:46their car my car because the police station police station yeah why you're under arrest arrest come on
38:54yes you want to put cuffs to the rear though just yeah i've got cuffs on straight away since
38:59today yeah i've seen both his mobile phones and drugs i think that goes without saying
39:22starting to show up a line already as you can see that's yeah so if you want to
39:28failure because it's positive so it's 1854 but further under arrest on suspicion of drug driving
39:34okay no drug driver bro you don't have to say anything but it may harm the defense when question
39:37something based on court and you want to say no given evidence so on the test line you can already
39:41see there's a line going up no no you can do it again maybe it's wrong no no never do it so what
39:47what happens you'll go to the police station yeah and they'll do a further test yeah an evidential test
39:53yeah you can do you can do every test bro that one maybe is wrong so they'll do that at custody this
39:57is just a preliminary test at the roadside they'll do an evidential one at the police station okay
40:07he's failed a drug swipe he's got no license suspected not having any insurance and he's failed to stop
40:12coupled with the fact that obviously there's been drugs thrown from the vehicle so he's the type of
40:16person that is going to basically cause carnage on the road with more than 200 000 drug offenses recorded
40:31across england and wales every year the police are clamping down the use of characterized drug supply
40:38is massive and it is a country-wide problem it's very easy money you can see why people who haven't
40:48got much in life like a lot of these unfortunate people haven't do what they do ideally we'd like
40:56to take out the top people but to get near anywhere like that is it's proving difficult so you tend to
41:03target your kind of medium criminals involved in it maybe the ones that are being used as mules
41:10to move the drugs around the country they've been fighting the war on drugs for many many decades
41:18before i was born and they'll still keep fighting it it's all well and good the police doing our bit
41:25but you're scratching the surface and as soon as you stop one person who's at the bottom of the chain
41:31dealing drugs someone has replaced them three hours later just doing the same thing again
41:39for every car that we stop there's probably 10 that manages to get through the net
41:42and goes on to deliver and makes a lot of money out of it but if we just rolled over and gave up
41:48and said well we're fighting a losing battle then what's the point so we'll always try his best
41:53and even if we take one car out at least it's one car that's not then going on to sell drugs or
41:59ruin somebody else's life through crime in this episode
42:03the driver caught transporting a million pounds worth of drugs
42:16i'm just a driver
42:19was remanded in custody
42:20this is the largest amount that i've ever seen or had any dealings with
42:26at court he received a 30-month prison sentence for drug dealing
42:33hello where's your number plate my friend
42:39the rider on the electric bike the vehicle is into the fields
42:43was never traced so stop stop stop for the unit team please
42:53the suspect who claimed he was being exploited by armed drug dealers
42:58i've just had the knife in my back
43:00was arrested for dangerous driving failing to stop possession of an offensive weapon and possession of
43:06cannabis oh we've got another one but released without charge that'll be what i had in my back
43:13and no action was taken for drug driving
43:17you be entertained
43:19the man the road crime team arrested was found guilty of drugs possession and cannabis supply
43:25where's in the middle in the egg
43:27he received a 12-month suspended sentence and 200 hours unpaid work
43:37and the driver who allegedly failed to stop for police and threw drugs out of the car
43:41this test for cannabis and cocaine started to show up a line already no no you can do it again
43:48but maybe it's wrong no no never do it remains under investigation while police await the results of
43:54further drugs tests
44:24you
44:25you
