00:00...to maybe get another podium on the season.
00:04And I've got to be thinking about Max Hansi right now.
00:06I'm questioning my first turn execution.
00:09He's always the first one to it,
00:11but he's lost the lead in the first corner multiple times this season
00:14by driving a little too deep.
00:16And it looked like Shane just had that one out of the jump.
00:19He was up on his feet so quick.
00:21He had his weight back on a slick start straight like that.
00:24It just looked to me like Shane absolutely nailed that start.
00:30Obviously, Max had the advantage with the Superpole win.
00:34He got to pick his gait, but it honestly didn't matter.
00:37Shane executed so well.
00:3930-second board goes up.
00:41The tension starts to rise.
00:44And I got a feeling that this South African crowd is about to come alive.
00:47Oh, yeah.
00:48Well, they're standing.
00:48You see the kids out in the stands.
00:50They're the ones standing.
00:53Loving Supercross coming to Cape Town, South Africa.
00:57And Lovani joins the gate.
01:00You see Cole Thompson one gate to the outside of McElrath.
01:03Lopes one gate outside of him.
01:05Those were your four fasts today in Superpole.
01:09The board goes sideways.
01:11Up goes the revs, and the gate will drop in South Africa.
01:14And it's McElrath up the inside.
01:22A carbon copy start.
01:25You see Antti to the outside.
01:26It's Enzo Lopes in second.
01:28There's Cole Thompson, Maxime Desprez.
01:32You got Park and Hicks in the top six.
01:35Carbon copy of Mono one.
01:36Will we get the same result?
01:39Enzo Lopes looks like he really was.
01:41Oh.
01:42Oh.
01:42Desprez is down.
01:43Thompson over the top of him.
01:45And it looks like some moisture was added to the corner.
01:47Every one of the boys had a rough go through that.
01:51McElrath almost put it on the ground.
01:53Here's the difference, though.
01:55Antti is now ahead of Lopes.
01:57A lot earlier than he was.
01:58A moto would go.
01:59This one's on.
02:00Max ran it in after that rhythm section.
02:04Maybe that answered our question.
02:05Max Anstey is going for the win tonight.
02:10Anstey off the Dragon's back.
02:11Lopes right behind him.
02:12Let's take a look at what one did.
02:14Watch Shane.
02:14Watch Shane.
02:15Slides.
02:16Good save.
02:17Anstey drives Lopes deep.
02:19And then comes the carnage.
02:21Looks like Kyle Peters and Cody Shock take advantage of the inside.
02:25How?
02:26How did Shane McElrath not hit the deck just there?
02:29Because that's a man who wants to win so bad.
02:32Needs to win so bad.
02:33And he stays up.
02:35You see him a lot more cautious into the corner of that lap.
02:38Yeah, he took it all the way to the edge end.
02:39That is crazy.
02:40I cannot believe he stayed up.
02:43We're on for the win tonight.
02:45Oh, and he wants it so bad.
02:47He said this season has not been what he expected, what he wanted.
02:53But every race is an individual opportunity to showcase who you are.
02:57And there's a one on that bike for a reason.
02:59He was fantastic a year ago.
03:01And if he can end this season congratulating Anstey, hey, good job this year, but I'm ending this on top.
03:08That would be a statement going into 2026.
03:11Yeah, that sets up the rivalry that goes into next year.
03:15It swaps to Max.
03:16Does it go back to Shane the year after?
03:18I'll tell you what, Shane is ripping right now, but Max's body language is completely different in this second race.
03:27And he sits back about 1.8.
03:30And I'll tell you what, it was dry today in qualifying.
03:33They've added a lot of moisture to keep that dust down.
03:36This is a different type of slick.
03:38And it looks like the boys are kind of having to adjust right now in the moment.
03:41And Max has been going to that outside line all day and carrying so much momentum through the outside.
03:48We saw him pass Enzo there.
03:50He has not switched that line at all.
03:52Staying disciplined to the line he knows, the line he likes,
03:55as Shane McElrath continues to put clean laps down, a 54.3.
04:00But Anstey, with the fastest lap of the race, a 54.2, he's warming up.
04:07Yeah, this, we've got four laps.
04:08We're halfway through this thing, and we have a lot of races to go.
04:13I've got a feeling that we might see that last turn action coming into play here.
04:17Well, I love when you look at a track map and you start picking apart where the opportunities might come.
04:22And when a track crew builds one that has a big old 180 right before the finish line,
04:28I mean, it just sets up for dramatics.
04:30And if Anstey can get himself a little bit closer, the battle will be on as the laps wind down.
04:37But McElrath, 1.7 over Anstey, and a fight between the defending champ and your new 2025 World Supercross champion.
04:46And this is for second in the championship.
04:49As I look at the board, Cody Schock is in fourth place.
04:51That is your battle for the second place overall in this world championship.
04:56And right now, Shane is looking like he wants that place.
05:00McElrath, one point up on Schock in standings.
05:04Three more if it stays as is.
05:07The battle between Lopes and Schock is pretty tight, under two seconds.
05:11There's Schock, you see, going to the outside.
05:12And for Enzo Lopes, a solid season, highlighted by a big win in the main event last week in Sweden.
05:18And wow, was that dramatic between the Rick Ware Racing team, his mechanic.
05:23I mean, they were just sick and tired of hearing about Max Anstey's perfect season.
05:29He took care of it last weekend.
05:31And I just love that Enzo is riding with an entire country on his back.
05:36You follow World Supercross on socials, and you will just see Brazilian flags glittered through the comments.
05:42When we have a round in Brazil, it is going to be insane.
05:47This is like the Justin Bieber of Brazilian motocross.
05:51I cannot wait.
05:51Please take us to Brazil.
05:53He would love that a lot, even though I will say his toughest race of the season was Buenos Aires, Argentina.
06:01There was a lot of fans there for him.
06:03He was getting pulled left and right all night long.
06:06Sometimes the hometown crowd elevates you, and sometimes they distract you.
06:10But this man in Sweden was undistracted.
06:14Not even sure if that's a word, but hey.
06:17Well, they're the best of the rest right now.
06:19These two have absolutely checked out.
06:22But Shane McGrath is holding tough up front.
06:25I really think that you saw Max throw everything at it, lap two, three, and four.
06:31Although he does still look like he's charging.
06:33He's pushing.
06:34You see him rip that outside burn.
06:35But, Jay, sometimes I think as a rider, when you give it everything you've got and you get no reward, you start questioning what you're doing.
06:43And this man has just been flawless.
06:46I mean, it's just clean.
06:47It's calculated.
06:48The bike looks like it's working perfect.
06:51And that lead is now stretched to 2.1.
06:53And these are two of the good guys in the sport.
06:57You want to see guys like this do well.
06:59They represent this world championship so well.
07:02Shane, a former champion of this series.
07:04Now, Max, a two-time champion.
07:06We've got him out front.
07:07You're going to see these guys' battles so hard, so clean all night.
07:12And, man, Shane has really been through him this season.
07:15And this has just got to feel so good to be leading these laps.
07:18So far, a perfect night.
07:19But as I say that, Max Anstey is starting to reel him in.
07:23From 2.1 to 1.5.
07:26It's closing down.
07:28He is running out of time.
07:29One lap to go.
07:33And he would have to have an amazing lap.
07:34Now, that was his best.
07:36Max goes 54.0 to Shane's 54.5.
07:40So that's a half a second, which means if he does it again, I mean, you're a 1.5 down.
07:46You're going to need to not only get to him, but you're going to have to pass him, too.
07:49So for Shane McElrath, be smart, be solid, and this one's yours.
07:54Yeah, he is just running out of real estate right now.
07:57Shane has not put a foot wrong.
07:59I tell you what, he does look closer, though, doesn't he?
08:02Yeah, we're down to 1.4.
08:04Wow.
08:04At the next sector time, we'll get a, yep, now down to 1.
08:09He's got a half a second and half a lap.
08:11We talked about those 180s.
08:14We've been talking up this finish line all night.
08:16Could it happen?
08:17I don't know that he's going to be close enough.
08:20Shane nails the corner, looks over his shoulder.
08:24It would have had to have been dirty.
08:26Shane McElrath wins sprint race number two of the 250s.
08:29Great race.
08:31And what a charge by Max Anstey.
08:34And luckily for us, we've got one more to go in SX2.
08:38The main event will be a 12-lap race to close down South Africa.
08:43This one is far from over.
08:45Enzo Lopes third, Cody Schock forward, looks like Kyle Peters.
08:49Colin Park, Cole Thompson at 5'6", 7.
08:54Hicks eighth.
08:55Kalana Humphrey with a top ten at ninth.
08:57Nice ride, Kalana.
08:58And Robbie Wageman in tenth.
08:59Wow.
09:05That got close.
09:06That got really, really close.
09:09And Shane knows it.
09:09He looked over his shoulder and he said,
09:11all right, I see you.
09:13I got you.
09:14But I see you.
09:15Yeah, and Max put in a charge early in that race.
09:18Didn't necessarily get rewarded for the charge that he put in.
09:22But he had a second dip.
09:26He had a second dip at it.
09:29Got so close.
09:31And I tell you what, this last final main event is going to be unreal.
09:33And Shane is with Kristen Beat.
09:37Shane, not only your first race win of the season, but now you're backing it up,
09:41going back to back with the double here tonight, looking for the clean sweep.
09:44You were just talking with your mechanic about the whoops.
09:47What did you find?
09:49It's changing every time out there.
09:51And, yeah, we had another good start.
09:53It was really slippery that time on the first lap.
09:55So it took us probably half the race to get going.
09:58But praise the Lord, we got another win.
10:00And that's what we've been working for.
10:01I feel good on the bike.
10:02And the job's not done.
10:04We've got to keep going.
10:05So, Shane, I hate to distract you from the effort that you're pursuing right now.
10:09But in the SX1 class, your two teammates are pursuing a championship.
10:13How has the climate been under your tent?
10:16About as good as it can be with a lot of pressure.
10:19We're working hard.
10:20I'm proud of those guys.
10:22Christian needs to stay in it.
10:23Joey needs to keep going.
10:24And, yeah, it's all good.
10:26Thanks so much, Joey.
