00:00This is Police Interceptors.
00:04Police Interceptors are all I for.
00:06I'm going to tell my kids about this.
00:08And you're riding with the pride of Northamptonshire.
00:11Speed one, two, zero.
00:14Ace Pursuit drivers.
00:16Contact, contact, contact.
00:18With air support.
00:19Got two out, stand by.
00:21I'm out.
00:22And a crack dog unit.
00:24If you leave, you will get hit.
00:26They bring down the bad guys.
00:30I believe you'll want it, mate.
00:32Keep the streets safe.
00:35Put your arms behind your back.
00:37Get on the floor.
00:39And battle 24-7.
00:41Get down on the floor.
00:43In the war on crime.
00:45Crash, crash.
00:47On the floor now.
00:48This is what it is, isn't it?
00:49We find and we lock them up.
00:53Coming up.
00:54Vehicle's going through traffic cones.
00:56Still continuing.
00:57A cone-crushing runaway gets a bone-crushing close encounter.
01:02Get down now.
01:03Get your belly down.
01:05Get down, go back to him now.
01:07Move away from the door.
01:08A special op sees cops unleash the enforcer.
01:12You're out of here, please.
01:14You're out of here, please.
01:15You're out of here.
01:16And a sunny evening in the park.
01:19I'm going to go down and get him.
01:20Turns cloudy for a suspected drug dealer.
01:23Hey, class, it's back.
01:25This is cool.
01:26This is very famous.
01:27This is good, Zach.
01:38Lucky take was in call.
01:40BDA 47 Oakley Road.
01:4221-08.
01:44It's Wednesday evening and interceptor Chris Locke's shift has been a quiet one.
01:51Yeah, no worries.
01:52So far.
01:53We'll finish in Desborough and we'll head to board to Colby.
01:56He's just received an SOS from colleagues 10 miles away.
02:006'5".
02:016'5".
02:02What colour is that Golf?
02:03Like a dark blue.
02:06I mean like two up, two IC1 males about 25 years old.
02:11They were stood with the boot open.
02:14They've gone to actually put the car in the front and it's made off of us.
02:18Oh, okay.
02:19A local unit is hunting down a brand new VW Golf that's been reported stolen from a car rental
02:28firm.
02:29It's been counted as a fail to stop.
02:31Got to find it.
02:32We'll see if we can get it stopped and try and get a couple of bodies from it.
02:37Locky is a taser trained advanced driver who joined the force 19 years ago to help clean
02:44up the county's roads.
02:49His weapon of choice tonight is an unmarked Volvo.
02:52I don't know whether or not Amiga 5 would be worth keeping our eyes peeled.
02:57If it's hit Euro hub south, it could be heading towards Kettering.
03:02A handful of other units are now being drawn into the hunt.
03:06Including several armed response vehicles or ARVs.
03:11Shift, shift, shift.
03:13And that's not all.
03:16The wanted motor has just pinged an ANPR camera nearby.
03:21You can only go towards the A14 from the end of Rockland Road.
03:25Now Locky reckons he knows exactly where the golf will end up.
03:30Roger, I'm Northfield Avenue.
03:33And he's bang on the money.
03:356-5.
03:36Contact, contact.
03:37Heading up towards the town.
03:39Passing Prospect House to my offside.
03:42Locky has slipped quietly in behind.
03:44And for now, travelling incognito appears to be doing the trick.
03:50Unmarked.
03:51Do not believe they're aware of my presence.
03:54Speed 2-5.
03:55Low risk.
03:56Low risk.
03:57For the interceptors, a pursuit is always the last resort.
04:03Left, left, left onto Field Street.
04:08So Locky is happy to hang back, sit tight and wait for backup.
04:13I've not tried to light it up at this moment in time.
04:15Although vehicle is trying to put distance between it to right, right, right.
04:20Vehicle's now making off.
04:23The suspect is clearly spooked, leaving Locky no option but to see what his Volvo can do.
04:28Rocking the road, wait.
04:30Left, left, left.
04:34But this nippy Golf boasts 0-60 in under 9 seconds.
04:38Vehicle's failing to stop.
04:40It's a stolen VW Golf.
04:42Drivers are unknown.
04:43Unknown occupants, believed to be two based on previous items by MPT.
04:48Approaching roundabout, wait.
04:49The roundabout up ahead, coupled with a build-up of traffic, gives Locky a chance to gain some ground.
04:58Continuing Rockingham Road, catering out. Vehicle's still planning to stop.
05:03With an interceptor on its tail, the suspect's moves become increasingly desperate.
05:08Medium risk.
05:10Over the roundabout, continuing Rockingham Road out.
05:14But something up ahead could work in the cops' favour.
05:17We're approaching the roundabout with road closures. Wait.
05:21Will the road work stop him in his tracks?
05:24Vehicle's going through traffic cones, still continuing. High risk.
05:30The Golf smashes through cones like a toddler in an ice cream parlour.
05:35We've gone left, left, left towards the A14.
05:39He's blasting down a quiet stretch of the dual carriageway, which offers ample opportunity to open the taps.
05:45Speed one, two, zero. No pedestrians and sights. Approached in the Junction 7, A14. Speed one, one, zero. Medium risk.
05:58At north of 100, the Golf hurdles through a red and into the roundabout.
06:03Where he almost becomes the filling in a tractor sandwich.
06:07Not one, not one. Not two, not two. Continuing around the A14.
06:11And his daredevil tactics are beginning to have serious consequences.
06:16I believe it's made contact with another vehicle.
06:21Navigating the roundabout at speed, the Golf clips an innocent motorist.
06:26But with an ARB unit now in support, is the tide turning back in Lockie's favour?
06:31We're now heading towards Corby on the A43, through the road closures.
06:40Driving on a closed road may seem like a low risk strategy. Unfortunately, it's anything but.
06:46No vehicles, however, we are going to be approaching workmen as we approach the Rocking Road roundabout at the other end.
06:55Half a mile up ahead, dozens of night shift workers are resurfacing the road.
07:00An interceptor's job now is to calculate the risk.
07:06Confirm you want an abort, abort.
07:08A decision is made to stand down.
07:13But has the Golf gone for good?
07:32Speed one, two, zero. No pedestrians in sight.
07:36In Corby, a VW Golf that had been reported stolen was wreaking havoc on the roads.
07:43I believe it's made contact with another vehicle.
07:46But when it took off down a closed stretch of dual carriageway, interceptor Chris Locke had to weigh up the risks.
07:53We are approaching the part of the road closure where there are going to be workmen.
07:59And the risk to pursue was deemed far too high.
08:02Vehicle's continuing to water catering. I have aborted.
08:11Locke allows colleagues in an armed response vehicle to take over and they proceed with caution.
08:15But once through the road works, they floor it.
08:20Locke's playing catch up, but moments later a flicker of blue catches his eye.
08:24Get down now! Get down now! On the floor with your belly! On your belly now!
08:33Let's build your back! Let's build your back then now!
08:37Armed response cops have caught up with two lads who fled from the Golf.
08:41Put your hands behind your back!
08:45You nearly killed people driving through there mate!
08:48That's two in cuffs!
08:50And it looks like it's way past this lads bed time!
08:53Oh, bro, I'm only 15, you know!
08:57Oh, okay, you should have fired!
08:59After the chaos they brought to the county's roads, the cops will have little sympathy.
09:04I'm in pain and I'm in agony.
09:06That's all right mate, we'll get a doctor to see ya!
09:08I didn't even know what was going on, I was sleeping back in the car next minute!
09:12Bye!
09:13Meanwhile, Locke is checking out the ditched motor.
09:16These two lads should be thankful they're not more seriously hurt.
09:22The manner of the driving from this car today, you've got rum in the car, grinder, all sorts of things.
09:34There's even a pair of sliders, which the young lad may need before he heads off to Kettering Nick.
09:38And with neither of them fessing up to being behind the wheel, both are under arrest for dangerous driving.
09:45Oh, going through road works, going through road closures, forcing its way through cones and other cars.
09:51Just complete disregard for anybody else on the road, let alone passengers in the car.
09:56Just disgusting behaviour, to be perfectly honest.
09:59The main thing is we've got people in custody, we're going to have to try and work out who was driving.
10:02But the car's totaled. It's a brand new car. That's all wrecked. Other cars have been involved as well.
10:10So, all in all, high risk, hopefully high reward at this moment in time.
10:17Following a thorough investigation, police were unable to determine which of the lads was the driver.
10:22So they both received no further action for the driving offences.
10:25They also received no charge in relation to theft of a motor vehicle.
10:28It's Thursday afternoon and interceptors Ian and Connor are getting packed and prepped for an intelligence-led job.
10:46They're part of a programme called Operation Revive, set up to tackle violent crime, drug dealing and child exploitation across the county.
10:58Today, they've got a warrant to conduct a raid on a residential address.
11:03So, the information and the intelligence that we've got so far for this is that it's being used through county lines.
11:12It's being used to cuckoo the resident, so they're taking advantage of the resident to take over his flat.
11:20Cuckooing is a name given to the practice of a crime gang using a vulnerable or young person's home as a base for drug dealing.
11:27If there's reports of it happening within the community, the team have a duty of care to act and safeguard potential victims.
11:38There's recent intelligence about there being machetes and firearms at the address.
11:45However, it doesn't need any specialist officers such as firearms or dogs to attend.
11:49To say Ian's got policing in the blood would be an understatement. Both his mum and dad were on the force.
12:00This boy is blue through and through and proud of it.
12:04Hoping to find from it drugs, cash, burner phones.
12:09The team don't know for certain how many people are inside the flat.
12:13But with reports of potential weapons, they can't take any chances.
12:18So, as we're approaching the address, we'll park out of the way and then we'll walk through.
12:24So, this will hopefully not be seen.
12:30With eight cops on the raid, they hope to have at least strength in numbers.
12:35Someone said they've got the enforcer, haven't they?
12:37And they've got the tools to help with a swift entry.
12:42Door's open.
12:44Yeah.
12:46Even though the front door has been left unlocked, up on the third floor, there's another one.
12:52And because of the intel, the team have got to get through it before anyone inside has a chance to react.
12:57Unfortunately, the lock won't budge.
13:17It's time to unleash the enforcer.
13:20Move away from the door!
13:21Move away from the door!
13:22Move away from the door!
13:23Move away from the door!
13:24Move away from the door!
13:25Move away from the door!
13:27Go still, stay there!
13:29Go still!
13:30Move away from the door!
13:32Stay there...
13:34Stay there!
13:35It's alright, it's alright...
13:36Keep hold' us...
13:37What's up, bro?
13:40Sit down on social care, as a warrant.
13:42We'll explain all the men...
13:43You guys wanna take a seat for both of ya?
13:45Sorry!
13:46Inside the flat, there's one woman, two men and two dogs.
13:49two dogs and apart from the barking there's no sign of any resistance but one of the officers
14:00who stayed outside has spotted something while cops are dispatched to retrieve the bag that
14:09was tossed from the window the rest of the team turn their focus on the flat itself
14:14obviously if there's nothing here yeah we'll be on our way obviously but we have to search first
14:20don't we we've got a warrant to search yeah yeah yeah yeah that's cool stashed in the lounge are a
14:24few bags of what appear to be mushrooms there's a load of mushrooms every time you need to go yeah
14:31my mate's friend used to throw them i put them in my bottle of nice well on the nice yeah mushroom
14:38the man is claiming to use them in a special recipe but judging by the current state of his
14:47frying pan he's no gordon ramsay got like mushrooms and some meatballs and some beef mince and a nice
14:57bowl of nice sauce thank you unfortunately for the bloke the bag that was chucked from the window
15:03has just been located you know what was in the bank oh it just looks like campus it's more class
15:10B's a decent fine but not the big score the team were hoping for there's no weapons either
15:17unfortunately no sign of anyone present being the victim of cuckooing but there is something here
15:25that's ringing alarm bells is that your phone ringing not too short there's no one's phone we
15:30can have it can't we get it booked in and find the owner yep the phone and the drugs are being seized
15:36the landlord is being called to fix the front door and the three occupants are released for now pending
15:43further inquiries all in all a mixed bag for the team we didn't find what we were looking for
15:49uh in terms of drugs today but as we were going in there was big bag of cannabis was thrown out
15:55the window uh we found some mushrooms typically for us we're always after crack and heroin that's what
16:02we really look for he uses them for um making bolognese although the boys and girls from operation
16:13revived specialize in proactive policing they must also be ready to respond to other incidents at a
16:20moment's notice it's now friday and ian and connor are heading back out in the unmarked
16:36a call's just come in that's piqued their interest yeah he's still going up jubilee
16:49an off-road motorbike has been spotted driving erratically nearby there was a bike pulling away
16:55and it's pulled a wiggly all the way down this road it's gone straight over so the cops are just going
17:00over that way to see if they can find him there's another unit tracking the bike and they've just
17:04clocked him riding into a park so the part that he's coming in
17:14is this park here ian and connor are closing in eyes left boys he's on there he's on foot the suspect
17:23has met up with some other lads in the center of the park i'm gonna go down again buckle up folks we're
17:31going off road go go go he's running back down towards you fitness fanatic connor loves the gym hates
17:47drug dealers and spends his spare time thai kickboxing
17:51so this lad doesn't stand a chance
17:56go to this guy
18:01he's speaking serious is drugs act
18:02why
18:03you're giving me nothing on
18:05why are you just seeing where you are
18:07over the road
18:07get a hand out now
18:08felon
18:08He's been nicked by Connor and two other cops simultaneously and is apparently no stranger
18:32to the procedure they've got the man and the machine yeah they've got one detained got
18:42the bike the off-road bikes in Corby are a massive massive problem so if it's one more
18:48off the road it's one more often no one got hurt and as it turns out this lad was well
18:55worth breaking a sweat for as he's run we've locked him up for dangerous driving and then
19:02doing a search on him it's got a load of drugs as well the lad's been found with what is
19:09suspected to be a quantity of cocaine so he'll be arrested for the P wits he'll be arrested
19:17for the dangerous driving as they saw him pulling the wheelies and he takes custody I think he's
19:22just been released from custody they were saying so straight out back in again the bike once
19:28Connor's hauled it back up to the road is being seized and now an ID check on the suspect has
19:39confirmed that not only is he disqualified from driving but he's also just 16 years old you get
19:46so many underage dealers now you know a lot of the gangs use them because they know they're under 18
19:51and they're not going to get treated the same way an adult would you know we've had runners as young
19:55as 11 12 deals because from a policing point of view they're they're hard to deal with because
20:02they're generally vulnerable and we have to look at them as a victim and a suspect at the same time
20:06it's balancing it the cocaine seized was estimated to have a street value of nearly 1500 quid
20:14biker boy pleaded guilty to possession of class a's with intent to supply as well as the driving
20:20offences he was banned for 31 months and had to pay 222 pounds in costs at the house raid earlier
20:28on the men admitted possessing class b drugs but the matter was settled out of court with community
20:34orders no action was taken against the woman still to come can you ask this lady how she had anything to
20:43drink that's alcoholic cops beat the language barrier to nick a drunk driver you failed this so you're
20:51driving so we need to go to custody and how fast do you think you were going so nice try 115 a man in a
21:00hurry who refuses to learn his lesson you're going to call for this at that speed that's the only option
21:07you've got take a deep breath make a seal around the end of the tube and then you blow through it
21:22until i tell you to stop okay okay go keep going keep going keep going keep going keep going stop
21:28that's it the roadside breathalyzer first hit our streets more than 50 years ago okay that's given
21:36me a reading of 103 you're under arrest and suspicion of driving america i'll stay with the prescription
21:40oh i'm getting arrested and since that day annual road deaths have plummeted to just 18 percent of what
21:48they were in the 1960s when was your last alcoholic drink a couple of months i'm a vodperum you think you
21:56will be yeah but with around 40 000 drink drivers getting nicked each year it's clear that for some
22:02motorists the penny still hasn't dropped good morning can you get out no you can't get out i don't know
22:11you can't get out no you can't get out no you can't get out no you can't get out no you can't get out
22:23lots of shouting and arguing on the fly it's friday evening midsummer just round about take the line
22:31refusing to have their spirits dampened by the unseasonal weather are interceptors stuart wilson
22:38and rachel mccready so not this right but the next one
22:43experienced cop stuart is known for his friendly manner and unflappable demeanor
22:49he's apparently got more patients than an nhs waiting list
22:53he and rachel have just been called to an incident in a residential street
23:00this one where an altercation has apparently erupted between two motorists
23:07is this the car
23:09that's the car
23:12hello
23:18who called us
23:19you called us
23:21so um i've gone to link shop just there yeah i'm parked up i'm just about to reverse out to go
23:28and she's come zooming around the corner and went to hit me so i've stopped i've reversed
23:33yeah and then she's succeed she's carried on and crashed into my car
23:37okay the crash happened outside a convenience store nearby
23:41and after getting bumped the driver of the black ford focus followed the alleged perpetrator to this street
23:47she's damaged my car
23:50where is it
23:51she drove into nearly hits three cars on the way out she drove into a bush
23:54even though i stopped
23:56but as all cops know there are two sides to every story
24:00unfortunately stewart seems to be struggling with the other one
24:04i give you phone please okay
24:08i'm sorry please can you speak with this husband my husband my husband can you speak
24:14hello hello sorry mate she doesn't speak any english
24:18okay uh what language does she speak
24:20lithuanian
24:22lithuanian no worries i can get a translator and i can speak to her uh with a translator okay
24:27i can help you no no i need an independent party uh because uh an allegation's been made against her
24:34okay in the uk police can call upon a database of specially approved and accredited interpreters
24:42to help break down language barriers at the roadside
24:46allegedly i think this lady's been driving crashed into someone else um but yeah she doesn't speak any
24:52english uh so it's one of those where we're just trying to piece together and see what happens
24:58the first question stewart wants the interpreters help with is a pretty simple one
25:03can you ask this lady has she had anything to drink that's alcoholic
25:14no please listen to no no you listen to me i listen to you but but i won't understand because
25:20i'm okay i'm shocking i'm shocking right this lady's shouting no no calm down
25:27calm yourself down
25:28i can't speak i can't speak the woman is clearly distressed but she's not answering the question
25:35so stewart has to persevere can you ask her again has she had anything to drink in the last 20 minutes
25:43i think she's stalling um so i'm going to require a sample of breath for analysis at the roadside i've
25:58already stated that to uh so without further ado deep breath
26:07so that's it keep going keep going keep going stop stop stop that's it it's done
26:14anything over 35 and she's off to the nick
26:17okay so that's come back as a fail so the time's 20 34 you're under arrest okay for driving whilst
26:26over the prescribed limit so you don't have to say anything but may harm your defense
26:29i've got a translator i'm trying to listen and take everything on board we're trying to communicate
26:36with her and i think what she's trying to do is stall and stall and stall the woman's blown 57
26:42well over the legal limit and you can't argue with a breathalyzer or can you
26:47tell us she's under arrest so she's going to be coming with us now okay
26:56because you failed this so you're driving so we need to go to custody
27:03and do an evidential one of these so you can't make any phone calls or anything right now
27:10no you've just made a phone call end it and put it away
27:13no you can't because you're under arrest because you're under arrest so no
27:20the woman will be spending the rest of her friday evening at the nick and the other driver who has
27:25blown zero is free to go i mean our job is essentially to arrest them and get them into custody and then
27:36everything can be explained in more detail when we get there people do all sorts of weird and wonderful
27:43things to try and delay that process we do need to have a lot of patience mine was starting to run
27:50quite thin when they get back to the station the reality of the past couple of hours appears to catch
27:57up with the driver but after being examined by a healthcare professional she's deemed fit enough to
28:04give an evidential sample of breath i don't believe that this is going to be very easy at all
28:14but yeah just be patient and i'm sure we'll get there will stewart's legendary patience hold out
28:23i just need her to answer the questions that i'm putting to her
28:27i want my phone call and i won't talk to anyone for 40 minutes she refuses to answer any of stewart's
28:38questions i've asked several times i've taken it as a refusal for the procedure
28:47failing to provide is as bad as a fail i can be as patient with anybody i will show them respect and
28:57dignity and understand the procedures but at some point i'm just going to have to call it
29:04and that's what we've done it is frustrating because she could engage in the process and
29:11blow under and then she could walk out and be absolutely fine but now she's looking at a charge
29:18for failing to provide so i'd like to think that she might learn her lesson and hopefully she has
29:26maybe her punishment will do the trick she pleaded guilty to failing to provide and
29:31was slapped with a 20-month driving ban a community order and fines of almost 200 pounds
29:41speed one zero zero in the five zero it's by far the biggest killer on our roads yeah he's lost a
29:51wheel now it's in 100 pounds now on three wheels that's just a long guess and 2.4 million speeding
29:59tickets are issued in the uk every year you've got a speeding conviction already please not take my
30:06driving license if you're lucky you'll only lose your license box on lane three if you're not you
30:14could lose something much more precious crash crash crash vehicles over time
30:22the problem with speeding is the faster you go um the less time you have to react you're decreasing your
30:30chance of being able to react to a situation very recently we went to an address and had to to say that
30:39person had been killed on the roads and fundamentally it was down to speed it's devastating uh for the families
30:51it affects the officers who have to go and deliver that news
30:54and it's such a tragic circumstance which needn't happen if people just reduce their speed
31:11wednesday late shift and interceptors aaron griff griffiths and scott kimberley
31:17are cruising the m6 southbound at around 70 miles an hour
31:20so how fast must that skoda vrs be going griff's in the unmarked three series so powers up for a
31:31closer look 113 yeah the skoda's clocking triple digits thank you number seven yeah about 110 110 150
31:45nearly half of all drivers break the speed limit on the motorway
31:49but this chap clearly reckons he's king of the road
31:54initially we've sort of clocked it paced it at 113 and now it's uh slowed down to
32:0290 to 100 mark obviously it's just been caught in traffic
32:07back to 100 and increasing
32:12advanced driver griff once saved someone's life at a road traffic accident and received a police
32:17commendation for his heroics
32:22114 this car has seen up close the damage that speeding can do
32:29i wonder if this person has just bought it potentially
32:31i mean it's a nice car 69 page vrs nice car
32:37the sporty skoda vrs has a two litre turbocharged engine but that's no excuse for driving at these speeds
32:44it's like i'm on the south yeah
32:48rather than deal with him on the hard shoulder the fellas need to find a safe place to pull him over
32:54i'll get into the gap the easy one yeah with the exit for the watford gap services just a mile away
33:01griff makes his move
33:02you give him some lights as well
33:07young lad you need to prepare follow me for me yeah i will do
33:12some unmarked cars have an led matrix in the rear window that instructs vehicles behind to follow me
33:18okay you've got compliance yeah i got near side lovely and he's a name one
33:27all that's left to do now is slowly reel him in yeah he's committed
33:32as hoped the skoda's parking up just outside the services
33:37i'll let you have the honest thank you
33:39although for the driver this is unlikely to be a welcome break
33:47hey driver turn your engine off for me please take your belt off and jump out if you're happy with
33:51that so i can chat to you a bit easier than leaning in then isn't it putting my head in your car
33:57um why is it that i've stopped you i think so just just just just leave me just i'm not
34:01no i'm not gonna let you just do a little bit driving just behind and in front in front just
34:05back just make me a little bit down calm calm comfortable to be fair or maybe the insurance
34:10just i bought a car i can prove everything just i don't all the insurance everything
34:14sorry okay explain just so i bought the car right now
34:17as far as answers go that was about as clear as a politician's time for griff to play paxman
34:24okay you've just bought the car yes but why is it that i've stopped you today do you think
34:27maybe a little maybe a little bit speedy a little bit a little bit how fast do you think you were
34:32going 89 79 90. try 115 we've been following you since the m6 junction two i see that but just
34:42probably when i when i pass some cars it's true no no you were you were maintaining that speed
34:48the chat now claims he was only speeding whilst overtaking it's no excuse and griff's decidedly
34:55unimpressed we've followed you for around about 15 miles almost and you have consistently driven
35:03over the speed limit so it's not just once or twice every opportunity you've got you've come back
35:09out into the outside lane and you've put your foot down as fast as you can okay and you then you're going
35:14110 107 115 you're going to court for this you're going to court for this i want to call really please
35:22at that speed on the motorway that's the only option we've got the bloke's not happy and to add
35:28a little extra salt to the wound griff's just pulled up his driving record you've got six points for
35:36speeding in 2021 speeding in a 50 how fast were you going then out of curiosity 110 or something 110
35:45okay so it was busted doing more than double the speed limit just two years ago so what would
35:53happen if you'd crash tonight it might be that we'd have to go and tell your family that you're not
35:56coming home tonight because you've crashed your car 100 over 100 miles an hour i'm thinking about all
36:02the other road users that you share the road with to have a license is a privilege with six points
36:07already on his license that privilege is now hanging by a thread keep going keep going keep going thank you
36:14a sample of breath comes back clean and even though he bought the car this morning he is fully insured
36:21that's your license back when you rejoin please drive the speed limit okay you're you're going to drive
36:28through another couple of police force areas i can promise you they're probably not the only one
36:32that's probably got an unmarked car on the motorway but you really need to think about it so with a court
36:38summons in the post and a stern word or two from griff he's free to go and other road users will be
36:45hoping that this time he really has learned his lesson he wanted me not to report him for the speeding
36:53because um he said you know he's got a job he uses his car to drive he's got wife he's got kids at home
37:00but actually when i you know i'll put it to him that what would happen if you crashed at that speed
37:06and you then it was then a fatality and you know we have to go and tell your family for me it is the
37:13right choice that a magistrate in court can decide uh what uh penalty he should face and he knows that
37:22price because he's been there before so he's gonna have to go back there and now explain why he's back a
37:27second time uh for the same offense but at high speed this time at court the driver admitted speeding
37:36and lost his license for six months he was also ordered to pay a 807 pounds fine and over 400
37:42pounds in costs maybe this time he's learnt a valuable lesson still to come like i wasn't not going that
37:51fast at all then i've gone to overtake i'm thinking of going straight yeah and then boom a demolition
37:56derby but who's to blame man or machine that mountain bike's probably got better brakes than this
38:21it's sunday afternoon
38:29the male that once did his name approximately 20
38:35straight and bruised and small amount of blood he's dizzy
38:38reports are coming in of a motorcycle crash on a housing estate on the edge of town
38:43apparently calling saying he was speeding and lost control
38:49interceptors keith gaye and michael hollowell are just a couple of miles away
38:54if you pass that to us we'll attend
38:57former london copper michael is not only an advanced motorbike rider but also a keen speed
39:03cyclist when it comes to jobs on two wheels michael's your man
39:07the motorbike is inside of my wall so he looks badly injured and a young lad saying how much will
39:15it cost to fix it so it may be that the uh lad it may not have insurance and he's asking how much
39:21it is to fix it so we shall find that out in a second
39:29that'll be it then yeah please just ride
39:31when they get there a local unit is already on the scene
39:38so looky what's going on well michael it's not a pretty sight
39:48judging by the state of the wall it's a miracle the motorcyclist is still standing
39:53i wasn't not going that fast at all well you can be down here yeah i was just coming down here right
39:57car's going to pull in here then as i've come down here somebody's made somebody's turned left
40:02but indicated at the last second as i've indicated the last second i've gone to overtake them thinking
40:06they're going straight yeah and then boom the lad swears he wasn't speeding if that's the case
40:12maybe he hasn't committed an offense today at all so your bike registered to you it's been
40:19reported already for a couple of months in my name yeah but i haven't got insurance license tax
40:24so you're right okay oh dear i've not been able to get up uh 8.3 okay we are full sorry well at
40:34least he's being honest yeah so we've um got a young lad here who's says that he's um been riding
40:41to the speed of the road uh a vehicle's causing to go through a brick wall and into the side of a van
40:48he's admitted i have no insurance tax um or mot so the bike's not fit for the road to go up a curb
40:55and to hit a wall and to go through a van there's going to be a bit of speed involved there's no no
41:00other vehicle involved so it's all down to himself so we'll just do some checks that's why i check the
41:05vehicles make sure it's a legit vehicle and fit fit for purpose not only does the bank have no mot but
41:12it's riddled with rust and almost 30 years old you don't see many old bikes like that do you more
41:18chrome than plastic but very unusual older bikes may hold visual appeal but even when they're fully
41:25roadworthy riders should be aware of the potential risks this is an old drum brake so it doesn't stop
41:33very well bikes nowadays have disc brakes front and back and probably double disc front and back as well
41:40so much better stopping power than the old drum bike brakes from years ago that mountain bike's
41:47probably got better brakes than this a harsh but fair assessment
41:55and it looks like the bike isn't the only thing that's battle scarred injury-wise for you have you
42:00got you're holding your arm out funny my shoulders i don't know can you not lift your shoulder at all
42:05i think i've got a bit of whiplash maybe no you're not you're not moving that i know you're moving
42:09your hand like the lad is clearly struggling it's all right go on
42:17oh my old back now
42:22is it just a bit stiff yeah like i'm sure i think you sure yeah
42:27he's putting on a brave face but he'll need to be checked over by paramedics just in case
42:32so a call is put in for an ambulance i am released from here right once we've got all your details
42:38obviously we're going to have to recover the bike
42:43the bike unsurprisingly is being seized and will only be released once the lad can prove he's fully
42:48insured and that the bike has been made completely road worthy but let's not hold our breath on that
42:54last one are you really going to want that back yeah i'll fix it you sure yeah he's also promised
43:01the homeowner he'll pay for the van and wall repairs out of his own pocket we'll make sure his details are
43:07correct yeah and then if you need those details from us we can give you those yeah yeah all right okay
43:13and with that it's pretty much job done is this the ambulance for him
43:17possibly yeah yeah looks like it all the things i hate is people are not insured you know they
43:24need to insure their vehicles it's it's you've got to pay for that cover you don't if you can't
43:28afford it don't ride it and that bike doesn't look like it's fit for the road and it's got no mot
43:33so i'm i'm sort of thinking down the lines of it wouldn't pass no mot
43:39with medical assistance here and local cops happy to stay and tie up any loose ends
43:44for the interceptors it's time to hit the road reflect on a job well done and reminisce about
43:49the good old days my first bike was called a fizzy and fs1e it was a 50 cc god my first part was a
44:00honda c90 plastic plastic chicken yeah red and white yes we used to muck around on them yeah that bike
44:08won't be back on the road i just do hope that um he does uh pay that chap back his uh price to get
44:14his van repaired because if he doesn't i think i think you'll be um looking for him yeah yeah i think
44:19so the bike was never collected and was scrapped the driving without a license or insurance and without
44:26a valid mot the lad had to pay over one thousand six hundred pounds and receive six points
44:43so
44:48so
44:54you
44:56Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh Oh-oh-oh-oh!
