Our ride and gear experts discuss one of the most contested topics in cycling: tire pressure. They reveal current trends (no, lower isn't always better) and share how to find the ideal pressure for your ride.

00:00Trevor, when did you start caring about your tire pressure?
00:03I mean, I would like to say from the moment I started riding bikes, but in the beginning
00:07it was just pumping up to the number on the side of the tire. It might have been 120.
00:12Yeah, so I wasn't very well educated in that regard.
00:14But the most educated man in the room on tire pressure...
00:19Okay, that's good. Well, all right, so what I would say to somebody that's still pumping up
00:25their tires to the max number that it says on the sidewall is it's free to not do that.
00:31There's lots of calculators out there that will give you an optimal tire pressure to try.
00:38And, you know, the benefits are more speed, more comfort, better grip. There's a lot of upsides.
00:45And you know what? If you don't like it, you can just go back to pumping up your tires to 120.
00:50Like there's really no downside. You don't have to buy anything to experiment with tire
00:54pressure. And it's rare that we can say that about something in cycling.
00:59Not many free things in cycling.
