00:00I know what you're going to say.
00:00You've always said we want to go way up north.
00:02No.
00:03Back to where it all began.
00:04Yeah, this is it.
00:05How about are the bugs in the middle of the summer?
00:07Those with slides, when they bite you,
00:08they take a chunk out of you.
00:09Logistics on this one are going to be the biggest challenge.
00:13Brian's got a flat.
00:14I need your muscle, Brad.
00:15We're back on the dusty trail.
00:17Hopefully, we'd see some moose through the dust clouds.
00:19Most important thing is always pay attention
00:21and listen to Chase.
00:22Here you hear me.
00:22Bring me a window.
00:25Is anyone going to help?
00:26So how are we?
00:28We paid for a balcony room.
00:38Sit.
00:39Hey, follow the stick with your eyes.
00:43Ashley, we're supposed to be cleaning.
00:44I'm trying to hypnotize him into making me more than you.
00:48Oh, it worked!
00:49It worked, it worked.
00:52Na, na, na, na, na, na, na.
00:54What are we doing here?
00:54Who's coming over?
00:55Martha, Noah, and his family.
00:57What side of the family is Noah on again?
00:59Martha is his mother, our father's oldest sister.
01:03Oh, no.
01:05I know what you're going to say.
01:06Oh, no.
01:08What?
01:08What's the matter?
01:09No.
01:10Yeah.
01:11What do you mean?
01:11You don't know?
01:12Where does Noah have a place that we stayed at?
01:15Oh, nine mile?
01:17Nine mile.
01:17We've always said we want to go way up north.
01:20No.
01:20Back to where it all began?
01:21Yeah.
01:22This is it.
01:23Oh.
01:24What's the matter?
01:26I don't know if I'm going to be able to handle being up north with all you guys.
01:31There's no escaping up there, either.
01:33And there's no power, no internet.
01:34Well, there's escaping.
01:35No TV.
01:36No phone service.
01:37There's escaping.
01:38Yeah.
01:39You can walk down the road, run from black flies.
01:42Yeah.
01:43Nine mile camp is about 30 years old.
01:46We actually went up there for a project.
01:49The first thing we ever did for TV was a pilot called Lost Cabin Hunters.
01:53Dixie, you and Justin go start hauling more materials then.
01:57Absolutely.
01:58And Ryan, Jedi, and I will come up with a good plan.
02:00It's all right.
02:01We'll hit it hard.
02:02Let's get after it.
02:03Cool.
02:04Let's do it.
02:05So we stayed in Uncle Bruce's camp and worked on another trapper's cabin close by.
02:10Yeah.
02:11On the water.
02:12Which was right next to the old camp.
02:13The trapper's cabin.
02:14We all stayed in this camp.
02:15All together.
02:16One big room.
02:17You following all this?
02:18I know we left the time capsule.
02:19It'll be exciting to see if it's still there.
02:21Roll the footage.
02:22We got a little time capsule we're going to do.
02:24All right.
02:25Last piece.
02:26Let's hope it's there for another 100 years.
02:29100 years.
02:30It was an adventure, to say the least.
02:34Nice job.
02:35Nice.
02:36Howdy.
02:37Noah's got a family now.
02:42They use the camp all the time.
02:43Tons of family use the place.
02:45So we'll see what Noah and the family are looking for.
02:47Hey, guys.
02:48Good morning.
02:49Good morning.
02:50Good morning.
02:51We made it.
02:52I'm Martha.
02:53I'm Chase and Ashley's aunt.
02:54What's up?
02:55Good to see you.
02:56Hi.
02:57Nice to see you.
02:58I'm Noah.
02:59Good to see you.
03:00And Chase and Ashley are my cousin.
03:02It's been a few years since we've been up there.
03:04I'm sure the list is fairly long.
03:06What are you looking to have done to the camp?
03:08I think the biggest things would be safety first.
03:11The little deck up on the second floor.
03:13The cedar board is starting to get rotten and squishy.
03:15The railing is not super secure.
03:17Make sure that's safe for the kids.
03:19Sleeping arrangements upstairs as well.
03:21Right now it's a big open space.
03:24So maybe creating some bunk beds for these guys.
03:27Some partitions.
03:28And some additional seating on the inside of the camp.
03:31Countertops have fallen apart.
03:33The bathroom is in need.
03:36The siding is starting to degrade.
03:38The stairs out back need an overhaul.
03:40And seating around the fire.
03:43The privy out back needs an overhaul.
03:45That might be the first thing we do.
03:47Get a good bathroom going.
03:48We'll see.
03:49Priorities are different for everybody.
03:51That's a moral thing.
03:52For sure.
03:53Is there anything else you want to see done to it?
03:56You know, I would like to see a safe spot for the boys
03:59when they use their bow and arrow.
04:02Just like a little area to do some target practicing.
04:05Let's go.
04:06Let's take this back to our rooms.
04:07Yeah, I think logistics on this one are going to be the biggest challenge.
04:11It's at least a six-hour drive to get there.
04:14Yeah.
04:15How close is the nearest town, hardware store, anything?
04:20Cell service.
04:21Power.
04:22I would say four hours.
04:23Put on three hours to Ashlyn.
04:25Three or four.
04:26Three or four.
04:27Three hours one way.
04:28I know who's got the lead foot.
04:29I've got the four hours.
04:30I can cut it pretty quick.
04:32Four hours to the nearest town, six hours from here.
04:36Correct.
04:37And that's dirt roads.
04:38Majority.
04:39Yeah.
04:40It's pretty isolated.
04:41We're going to have to make one long convoy so that if somebody does get a flat tire,
04:45which sounds like it's very common.
04:48And depending on the day that you go in, it is the North Main Woods.
04:53It's a working area.
04:55There are going to be logging trucks that you're going to have to be very careful of.
04:59So we don't want to forget anything.
05:00We don't want to forget anything.
05:01I think the best option is probably to bring as many of the crew as we can.
05:06All the supplies, all our food.
05:07We've got to make sure that we're prepared with multiple spare tires and the tools to be
05:11self-sufficient.
05:12You're going in there outfitting for an adventure.
05:14Yeah.
05:15Do we have to go up there and get measurements and everything?
05:16How's that going to work?
05:17Well, Noah goes up regularly.
05:18Yeah.
05:19I'm going up on Thursday for a canoe trip, so we'll measure every nook and cranny.
05:22Chase is going to give you some homework then, right?
05:23Yeah.
05:24The more we can pre-build, prefab down here, the more efficient we're going to be up there.
05:28I think we're going to have to set the timeline on this one.
05:32I think we can probably steal away for two weeks in the middle of summer when it's our
05:37busiest time of the year and we'll get done as much as we possibly can.
05:41How much do you have for the renovations on the camp?
05:45$40,000?
05:46Is there a family discount?
05:49You know there is.
05:52How about are the bugs in the middle of the summer?
05:54Moose flies.
05:55That's bigger than a horse fly.
05:56Those moose flies, when they bite you, they take a chunk out of you.
05:59All right.
06:00So we've got a budget.
06:01We've got a time frame.
06:02You're getting us measurements.
06:04I think we just need a set of keys.
06:06Yay!
06:07There's the key.
06:08Excellent.
06:10And a pencil.
06:11All right.
06:12Without the Maine Cabin Masters, we could never even dream of doing something like this.
06:16They understand the complexity of living in the North Maine woods while you're working.
06:20We'll walk you out.
06:21We've got to go get ready.
06:22We've got to pack those trucks.
06:23And their willingness to go up and to stake out and to invest, I don't think anybody else
06:29would do it.
06:30It's a spot that we love.
06:31It's a very unique geographic area.
06:33It's wild.
06:34It's rugged country.
06:35I love to take the boys up and explore and just being together unplugged.
06:39It's really what it's all about.
06:41Check it.
06:42You're coming to the great North woods?
06:43Yeah.
06:44Okay.
06:53So today we are packing up and ready to convoy North to Noah's camp up in Nine Mile.
07:03Oh my gosh.
07:04Are you excited?
07:05This is your first time to the outgash.
07:06Oh yeah.
07:07I don't know if Gussie ever went.
07:08My biggest concerns today are flat tires getting lost and we're going to have to watch out
07:15for logging trucks.
07:16Are you ready to be my roommate?
07:17No.
07:18Our next stop will be Mile 6 Checkpoint.
07:29It's a gate that lets us into the North Main woods.
07:31We'll all register, sign in and then it's all dirt roads and out of communication from
07:35there.
07:36All right, everybody.
07:37Wheels up.
07:38Next stop.
07:39Six Mile Checkpoint.
07:40Nine Mile, baby.
07:41So I'm super excited to get up to Nine Mile.
07:43The guys have been talking about the project that they first did, the Travers cabin.
07:47I've never seen it.
07:48I also heard that there's a time capsule.
07:51So yeah, I'm excited.
07:52Let's go.
07:53We've made it through Ashland.
07:55We've reached the Mile 6 Checkpoint.
07:57Three and a half hours here.
07:59Another three and a half hours in, four hours.
08:02Three and a half to cross.
08:04We've just got to try and stick together best we can in case somebody pops a tire.
08:08Hey, I just want you guys to be careful out there because today, very high temperatures.
08:13Breaker, breaker, Matty.
08:15This here is the pig pen over and out, bringing up the rear.
08:19A little update here on the old Nine Mile convoy.
08:22We are officially six hours into the trip.
08:27Been nothing but dirt roads in the last hour or better.
08:30And I think we've got about another hour, hour and a half to go.
08:33No issues yet.
08:34Knock on wood.
08:35Making our way to Nine Mile.
08:38Oh, I got one.
08:43No, you didn't.
08:44Yeah.
08:45No, no, no, no, no.
08:46He's freaking out.
08:47Ryan's got a flat.
08:48Oh.
08:53Ryan's got a flat.
08:54Literally when I stopped, I heard a hiss.
08:56How do you fix a flat?
08:57It's called a plug kit.
08:58You have a plug kit?
08:59You don't.
09:00You don't.
09:01Should we pour some water on my tires and see if any of your hissing?
09:03No, no, no.
09:04Who's the fastest to plug a tire?
09:06Brad's reaming out the hole.
09:08And then you take this little thing, thread it through here.
09:11Now, he's taking the plug, driving it in, and he twists it.
09:16Come on, Brad.
09:17Yes!
09:18Got it.
09:229 a.m., we were right about here.
09:25And then about 1.30, we were here, which is a six-mile checkpoint to the North Woods.
09:32And now we're right about here.
09:35And we still got about an hour to go to get to here.
09:39We just dealt with issue number one, flat tire, about 20 minutes, half an hour there.
09:45We've got everything taken care of.
09:47We're back on the dusty trail.
09:48We've got a little bit of rain coming in right now, so hopefully that's going to cut down the dust,
09:53make this travel a little easier, and allow us to see some moose through the dust clouds.
10:05We're here.
10:06We got flat tires.
10:07A couple guys got lost.
10:08There are a lot of moving parts.
10:10And we're ready to get started.
10:12We're back.
10:13Morning!
10:14We have a full crew working today.
10:15The crew is getting done.
10:16We have a very full crew.
10:17You're always good as your crew.
10:18They found it before we did.
10:19See, it's a little out of level, so it needs to be jacked, leveled up, getting new siding.
10:23That window there is getting replaced.
10:25That deck on the side, second floor is getting replaced.
10:27Hopefully the door is getting replaced.
10:29Window on the second floor, gabled end on the other side, getting replaced.
10:33All new log profile siding.
10:35All needs to be painted and stained.
10:37Guys are digging the new hole for the outhouse.
10:40We need to get that dug.
10:42This is the entire outhouse right here.
10:44It just needs to be reassembled.
10:45It was all pre-built at back 40.
10:47Can we go inside?
10:48Sure.
10:49She's excited.
10:50No one and his family are looking to get the camp jacked, leveled, new siding, replace
10:56some bad windows where the seals are gone, replace a door that's rotted, and new deck
11:01and new outhouse.
11:02Oh, yeah.
11:03Oh, yeah.
11:04The memories.
11:05What?
11:06I remember this place.
11:07I've been here a couple of times.
11:08I know.
11:09Twelve years ago, the guys all came up here and shot a pilot, a pilot I wasn't a part
11:14of, and didn't get picked up.
11:16It's called Lost Cabin Hunters.
11:17Well, then Chase said, I do have a sister, and she does do design.
11:21And he asked me, and I joined the team.
11:25We made another pilot, and guess what got picked up?
11:27So what's the plan in here?
11:29The plan in here is replace this window.
11:32Kitchen, we brought up countertops.
11:34We need to redo this kitchen.
11:36A little more privacy in the bathroom space.
11:41This door needs to be replaced.
11:43New deck off the back.
11:44And then upstairs.
11:45Upstairs is the best part when we all get to sleep together in one big room.
11:49So this window here is original to the camp.
11:52Yeah.
11:53Plexiglass.
11:54Plexiglass.
11:55Looks like the plexiglass wasn't quite big enough.
11:59Oh, yeah.
12:00Remember all the beds were like bed.
12:01Bed.
12:02Is this Stan?
12:03Bed.
12:04Bed.
12:05Bed.
12:06In the inside of Noah's cabin, our plan is to replace the picture window.
12:09Replace and repair the two doors.
12:10Update the kitchen.
12:11Update the bathroom.
12:12Replace the windows upstairs.
12:14Replace the slider door upstairs.
12:16And build bunk beds for the family.
12:18Low ceilings.
12:19You know, it's a gambrel.
12:20So we have to kind of figure out what's going to work for bunk beds up here.
12:24But I think we can come up with a good design.
12:25It's all about giving a little bit of privacy so it's not just army barracks.
12:28And then you have a wall and then you can have a little bit of space.
12:31You can have a little bench here.
12:32Chase was saying if we have leftover materials, we might be able to make bunk beds with partitions.
12:37So each individual pod could have its own, like, little bench and coat rack.
12:42Wow, that stuff is wicked brittle.
12:44Yes, all this can come over.
12:45We can get prepped and ready for jacking and leveling.
12:49That can get disassembled.
12:50Bring pucks or anything to set this on?
12:52Or what are we doing that way?
12:54We'll have to get some gravel, some whatever we can to fill in around it.
13:00And then we can start digging a cesspit.
13:06Yeah, so able to drag the old gas shed out of the way where the new outhouse is going to go.
13:12Prefabricated everything for the outhouse down in Monmouth.
13:15So we got the crib work, everything all cut.
13:17Next step is to go grab some gravel and bring it back to fill in.
13:24Yep, chase it. Set it to the right.
13:33All right, don't start dropping it now.
13:36Here up at Nine Mile, we are at the shale pile.
13:39We've got to build up around the outhouse.
13:41This is going just on the bottom of the outhouse?
13:43Yeah.
13:44It might be a couple trips, huh?
13:46It might be.
13:47There's a lot of these shale piles all throughout the roads up here.
13:52That's what they kind of pass and fill in the roads with.
13:54So we've got permission to get some shale from here to cover up around the outside of the outhouse.
13:59What's the difference with this and slate?
14:04Softer.
14:05Are they related?
14:06They're all related. They're rocks.
14:08Am I good?
14:17Yeah.
14:18Keep going?
14:19Yes.
14:20I am going to get most improved backer upper over the course of this little gig we've been on.
14:24Ryan.
14:27Pull forward and then we'll try and cut it in tighter if possible.
14:30The most important thing is always pay attention and listen to chase.
14:33So I'll be back.
14:35Cut it hard.
14:37Cut it real hard.
14:38Guide me, brother-in-law.
14:40Wicked hard.
14:41Yep.
14:42Don't get no harder than that.
14:43Too hard. Too hard.
14:44Pull.
14:45Stop. Stop.
14:46So the guy's got the hole all dug, the basin all built, the shale that we just went and put into the trailer.
14:57We're going to back that in.
14:59We're going to backfill this whole toilet housing right here and hopefully get it closed in sooner than later.
15:05Then we can start building the shack.
15:07Once more. Once more and we're there.
15:09Cut it again right now.
15:11That's good.
15:12Yep.
15:13Backer trailer sucks.
15:14Years of practice and a lot of luck.
15:18Make a big circle right there.
15:20And we'll go swoop right into there.
15:22We got the hole dug and, you know, we knew we were only going to be able to go in about 18 inches deep.
15:27But we needed about a 36 inch deep pit.
15:30So we needed to backfill up around it.
15:32Francis brought his dump trailer.
15:34Can't really haul heavy machinery in here.
15:36Ready?
15:37Yep.
15:39I wouldn't want to get rid of any of this.
15:41I mean, we'll try and put, we'll use as much as possible.
15:45Yeah.
15:46You know, definitely where it's all signed.
15:48Yeah.
15:49Through the years.
15:50I mean, it goes back to 1990.
15:52Yeah.
15:53So we're going to save all of this.
15:55This is, you know, pretty important.
15:58It goes back to the 90s.
16:01Different people that have come to stay with Noah and the family have written all over the place.
16:07So they kind of want to save that.
16:09So we're going to be just very careful trying to take this apart.
16:13It's probably 33 by 86.
16:16Go take a look at it.
16:18See what we're up against.
16:20Yeah.
16:26Now go give it a little pushy.
16:28From the top?
16:29Yeah, from the top.
16:30Don't break it.
16:32There you go, Hunter.
16:34Guys push, Ashley.
16:36Right outside.
16:37Right over.
16:38Somewhere.
16:39Right over here.
16:42You got it, Benny?
16:43You need a hand?
16:44Benny's a tough little bird.
16:45The old double pane.
16:47I'd say somewhere way out of the way.
16:49The pane of glass came out pretty easy.
16:51Now it's just a matter of dropping our sill, padding the opening a little bit, and installing the window.
16:57When you put this on, he's going to walk around and it moves because the horse flies are bugging him.
17:02So now the horse flies think there's a dragonfly on top of him.
17:06Come here.
17:07He might need something else on.
17:08He might need a hard...
17:09Oh, look.
17:10See?
17:11He's not going to get any dragonflies.
17:12I mean any horse flies because that...
17:13The horse flies?
17:14Oh!
17:15I hope you don't get any.
17:16Let me know.
17:17The horse flies aren't going to come around me because they're afraid of this dragonfly.
17:21Where is it?
17:23When you walk around and then all the horse flies are going to stay away from you.
17:27See if it works.
17:28So I'm just going to fly on out of here without any horse flies.
17:33I'm ready to receive the window.
17:37Hear ye hear me, bring me a window.
17:40Is anyone going to help?
17:41We got to bend that flange too.
17:43Somebody else in here helping me?
17:45Okay, pick it way up.
17:47Tip the top to me.
17:48Hear ye hear me.
17:49Francis, top back.
17:50Coming on in.
17:53Watch out your hand, Francis.
17:55Beautiful.
17:56Just like that.
17:59Kitty cat, just like that.
18:01Ashley, make sure it's centered.
18:03It's totes centered.
18:05That cook of ours, Francis, he's been in the middle of everything.
18:08Very impressive.
18:11We got the pit dug, cribbing work in, back filled with all the shale and topsoil.
18:16Next step is to set the platform, post it up, get ready for the walls and roof.
18:20You go that way.
18:21One hole is bigger than the other.
18:23Hey, takes all sizes.
18:26No, no, no, no, no, no.
18:28Back to back.
18:29Oh, it is an oval.
18:32Oh, that's why.
18:35Just lean back.
18:36This wouldn't be awkward at all.
18:39Can you hand me some paper?
18:41Is there a divider one?
18:42Thanks.
18:43No.
18:44Just like this.
18:45Try it out.
18:46They even beveled the edges of the seat.
18:48And there's going to be a seat on top of that.
18:49They're thinking of everything.
18:52So those of us that are staying at this camp, Francis is cooking us breakfast, lunch, and
18:56dinner.
18:57And then the rest of the crew is down at another campsite playing games.
19:01They're fishing.
19:02They're canoeing.
19:03So they are bonding and having a great time down there.
19:06So it's really just a cool bonding trip for all of us.
19:12Hi, everybody.
19:13Oh, Ash.
19:14We.
19:16Are these deceiving?
19:17They're not right.
19:18Day two up to nine mile.
19:20Our goal today is to get the lattice on, get the our house built, get some trim up, get
19:26some siding on, get the upstairs deck built, and just keep everything moving along.
19:30We're getting ready to rip this deck off.
19:33We got to replace this deck.
19:34We've got to replace that door as well.
19:36So we want to get everything torn out of there so we can get it opened up and see what we
19:40actually need for this new door and new deck.
19:42So, yeah, we've got the rafters all cut.
19:45Stringers are ready to come down.
19:47We're going to give it a tug.
19:48It's going to slam right down there about eight, ten feet away from the building.
19:55Pull hurts me!
19:58We paid for a balcony room.
20:01You better have this done by tonight, okay?
20:03Pull hurts me!
20:08Woo-hoo!
20:10Nice job, gentlemen.
20:11Day two.
20:12Everybody showed up.
20:13Ready to go.
20:14Everybody got a good night's sleep.
20:15We are having peaches for breakfast.
20:17Peaches.
20:18Peach.
20:19Peach!
20:20Brad and Schmitty are ripping off the second floor deck.
20:24That's getting rebuilt.
20:26Once that's up and secured, then we will take out that upstairs slider and replace that.
20:32Oh!
20:33Dixie, what are you doing?
20:34So, in order to install the siding, we need to have the skirting done and window trim and corner boards done.
20:40So, I'm working on window trim and corner boards.
20:42Cool.
20:45We got the platform set yesterday for the outhouse, so today it was just setting the walls, getting everything secured.
20:53Cut!
20:54Whack-a-mole.
20:56It was prefab, so the walls go up pretty quick.
20:58One, two.
21:00Whoa!
21:01We just kept going, got the walls all assembled.
21:03Oh, baby!
21:05Oh, baby!
21:06We need to put the rafters on.
21:07We didn't pre-build the roof, so we need to put the rafters up, sheath it over, roof it together.
21:12Get the doors on, windows in, trimmed out.
21:14It's still early, but everybody's motivated.
21:17It hurts.
21:19Ow, that does hurt.
21:20Okay.
21:21Back to work.
21:23Screen door?
21:24Screen door time.
21:25Whoa.
21:26Your brother said it's perfectly good and we're going to keep it.
21:28I kind of agree with him.
21:29Yeah, it's perfectly good.
21:30Let's keep it.
21:31But let's make it look different.
21:32I think we pop off this, because this obviously had a screen on the bottom of dogs and people kicking it.
21:37We can't just sand this down.
21:39No.
21:40So I'll pop this off.
21:41We'll put new wood on the inside of this square and then hold the wood and I'll trim out both sides.
21:45So I'll pop this off.
21:46We'll paint it.
21:47Wait, I wasn't paying attention.
21:48What are you talking about?
21:49This and this off.
21:50Let's just do it.
21:51Watch.
21:52I'll do it.
21:53And I'll picture frame it to hold it in on both sides and then we'll stick.
21:56This will be green.
21:57That'll be this.
21:58Take this.
21:59So what part of this project is mine?
22:00Painting a beautiful skull and crossbones on there.
22:04Anyway, is it coming up?
22:05Yeah.
22:06Get that one.
22:07Whoa, it's coming up from the other side.
22:08Don't worry.
22:09We're keeping the screen doors?
22:10Yeah, we're going to fix it up a little bit.
22:11We're fixing this, Brad.
22:13Did you bring new screen doors?
22:14The one upstairs in your guys' room is rough.
22:16Our room.
22:17We'll fix that one up too.
22:18Our room.
22:19Our room.
22:20That's the suite.
22:21I had to move our bed today so the work could be done.
22:22We're going to have a new deck later.
22:23We are going to have a new deck.
22:24Can I have my coffee on that deck tomorrow morning?
22:27Yeah.
22:28Yes.
22:29Don't tell too many people they're going to want to move in.
22:31Cool.
22:33Are you going to take off the other side too?
22:35Did the other side need taking offing?
22:36One side at a time.
22:38The other side might be okay though.
22:39It might not have hit the elements.
22:41Is this the outside?
22:42Okay, we'll just do this side.
22:43It's perfect.
22:44I like it.
22:45Ryan took out the screen door and told me that he was fixing it.
22:47He came up with this idea that we should paint our logo on the new wood.
22:53Cut out some new pieces.
22:54We stained them the color of the siding.
22:56Sarah and Ashley got this painted.
22:58Sarah's helping me just figure out how I'm going to trim out the inlay board we're going
23:01to put.
23:02And then we'll flip it, paint it, inlay it.
23:03Now it's off to Ashley.
23:08Now that Ryan has fixed the door, Sarah put a fresh coat of paint on it.
23:12And we have this new panel here.
23:13I am going to draw out and paint our company logo on here.
23:15Ryan cut out some new pieces so then we put them onto the door and glued them down and
23:19just had to wait for them to dry.
23:20I don't think you need a sandbag.
23:21I need another sandbag.
23:22Okay, but it's popping it up on the other side.
23:23Ryan's level of bossiness is right about here right now.
23:25I'd like it to be right about here.
23:26I'd like it to be right about here.
23:27Do we have more of the clamps too, wait please?
23:28Ask the guys.
23:29Again.
23:30Please ask the other guys if we have more.
23:31This stuff is super fast.
23:32There's no sense of urgency with her.
23:33Stay tuned.
23:34Her urgency level's here and needs to be a little more up here so we should just meet in the
23:38middle somewhere.
23:39Where's all their clamps?
23:40My urgency level, I mean it's not really that high but I really didn't have a whole lot
23:45to do today and I was looking forward to doing this project.
23:48I'll be back door.
23:49Yeah, well we'll set it for a half an hour or so.
23:52It's going to be worth the wait.
23:53Please.
23:54Please.
23:55Ryan's nicest guy.
23:56I don't know.
23:57I don't know.
23:58I don't know.
23:59I don't know.
24:00I don't know.
24:01I don't know.
24:02I don't know.
24:03I don't know.
24:04I don't know.
24:05I don't know.
24:06I don't know.
24:07I don't know.
24:08Ryan's nicest compassion level is a little low today.
24:11So the glue's dry.
24:12We hope.
24:13Ryan will kill me if it's not.
24:15But I want to get working on this.
24:17Everybody's kind of getting pulled in all kinds of different directions with all these
24:20different projects going on so you take whoever you can get.
24:23Someone walks by and wants to help me?
24:24Sure.
24:25How's this going?
24:26Hey!
24:27What are you doing?
24:28Apparently I took the weights off a little too soon.
24:31My fault.
24:32I did it.
24:33I did it.
24:34I did it.
24:35Why?
24:38It's not funny.
24:39Because I'm trying to explain to you what's happening.
24:42Constant bickering.
24:43Constant bickering.
24:44His frustration comes with me because I wasn't patient.
24:47This is coming from Mr. Impatient himself.
24:50So yeah, come on.
24:51If the most impatient person within 200 miles asks you to wait, you might want to listen.
24:58Air got in it.
24:59No air got in it.
25:00I did go back and apologize.
25:02We came to the conclusion that we were going to let it sit overnight and it will really
25:06set.
25:07It will be ready for me to get to it tomorrow morning.
25:13I'm going to start right here.
25:14Pressure really was to get that outhouse done because we needed a working outhouse on site.
25:21Right now we've got the outhouse roof all sheathed up.
25:23Got our ice and water shield on it.
25:25Got it closed right in.
25:26Now we're putting our metal panels down.
25:28Once we get our metal panels, we're going to run our rake pieces.
25:31And the roof is done, man.
25:36Nice work today.
25:37Deck looks great.
25:38Siding looks awesome.
25:39You know what looks the best?
25:41Straight forward from here.
25:42The outhouse.
25:43Best it's ever going to look.
25:44That is adorable.
25:49Morning number three.
25:50Everybody's hustling.
25:51Justin's getting paper up.
25:52Hunter's got the deck going on.
25:54Benny and the staining crews moving stuff around.
25:57Ry's ripping up a bunch of trim.
25:59Sarah's cutting trim.
26:01We're getting ready to side this backside and walk away.
26:04So the big jobs today are taking out the old slider door on the second floor,
26:08getting the new slider up on the deck and installing that slider,
26:12installing the gable end windows on the opposite end,
26:15and getting the siding done on all four sides.
26:18Gosh, this window's in bad, bad shape.
26:20Well, we've got to take it apart.
26:22So this window has been broken at some point and then broken again.
26:27Instead of one large picture window,
26:29we're going to try and put in three individual windows just to make life a little easier.
26:34It's been great working with Fletcher.
26:36He leaves tomorrow.
26:37I remember working up here with my father, with my grandfather.
26:40So it's great that he's had an opportunity to do that too.
26:43How's your day going?
26:49Oh, you match the extension cord too.
26:51You're so stylish.
26:52What we're going to do is we'll leave those handles on.
26:55I'll put two tie ropes up to you guys.
26:59We'll push up and then two guys will pull it up and then we'll just come up and over like we just did.
27:04No, I would not take it apart.
27:06So getting the new door up, we decided that it would be best not to disassemble the panels off from the sliding door,
27:13but to bring it up as one unit.
27:15Hold up.
27:16Yeah.
27:17Okay.
27:18Now, hold on.
27:19Hold on.
27:20You on it, Schmidt?
27:22What we did was we brought the door over to where the ladders were, leaned it up against the ladder, wrapped two ropes around it.
27:30We had three guys up in the balcony.
27:32Just be easy when you tip it.
27:35It went up with ease.
27:37Holy gee.
27:39Classic example right there of many hands making light work.
27:43Get it straight into the door.
27:45So things are looking good.
27:47Fletcher and I just got the windows on the gable den installed.
27:50These guys are working on the trim to get ready for siding.
27:53Slider door went in, back deck went in.
27:56Looks like we're getting some rain soon, so we're trying to get everything wrapped up so we can close it in as quickly as possible.
28:01So now we're going to take off the clamps and pray that it is sealed.
28:07I get to work beside Dixie.
28:08This is the best part of the day.
28:10Now I am just going to trace this out real fast and then I'm going to paint it with the green paint.
28:15It's not going to be that easy.
28:17Just go for it.
28:20Looks good, Ash.
28:25Thanks.
28:26Looks really good.
28:27I like it.
28:28I just had to say let's just go for it, right?
28:30Nothing to it but to do it.
28:32Nothing to it but to do it, right?
28:35I see the glue is all dry now.
28:37Yeah, right?
28:38The glue is dry.
28:39It has dried nicely.
28:41Must we bring that up again?
28:43Lesson learned.
28:44You know what the lesson is?
28:46Don't work with your husband.
28:51There he is.
28:52Ryan came over and helped me with the finishing pieces.
28:55Love it.
28:56Which was to put the picture frame trim around the panel.
29:00That wind is keeping the bugs away.
29:01I don't even need any of my contractions today.
29:04Jason Fletcher installed it for me.
29:06We did it, guys.
29:07It's official.
29:08It's official.
29:09Woo-hoo!
29:10Good job.
29:11Good job.
29:12Good job, everybody.
29:13Thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks.
29:14Good job.
29:15Thanks.
29:16On to the next project.
29:22We're halfway through day three.
29:24Tightied up stuff.
29:25Because, I mean, it looks like rain, feels like rain.
29:27So that means it's coming.
29:28So I think it's starting to feel awful windy up here.
29:31Oh, wow.
29:32I see right there.
29:33Gotta go check the tents.
29:34Make sure we don't get blown away.
29:41It's a rainy end to the week.
29:44We can't stop for the rain.
29:46Our goal is to get the stairs for the back deck built.
29:49Get the two gable ends sided.
29:51And then it's a good stopping point for the weekend.
29:54We knew yesterday that the rain was coming.
29:56We got lucky.
29:57We got almost a full day in yesterday.
29:59It's humid out, too.
30:00So you put a rain gear on.
30:01So you're sweating underneath.
30:02So you're getting wet regardless.
30:03So do you want to get wet by the rain?
30:04Or do you want to get wet from sweat?
30:06And then you have man glitter everywhere.
30:08So it's just going to get dirty and disgusting.
30:09Biggest thing is just keep a good attitude.
30:11And when we get done, we'll clean all our tools off nicely.
30:13Let them dry.
30:14I mean, there's enough of us.
30:15We should be able to have a bunch of people on both sides.
30:18I'm going to just go for it.
30:19Oh, it's so much better.
30:21Woo!
30:25It's pouring out here.
30:26So Trigger and Fletcher and I are going to find a nice inside project to do.
30:30Come on, Triggs.
30:31Get out of the rain.
30:32I got some brushes.
30:34You found us an indoor project.
30:36My hero.
30:39What are we doing?
30:40A polyurethane window.
30:42This?
30:43Yeah.
30:44That is the window.
30:46That's a window?
30:47It's a window?
30:49Can you get close to the window?
30:51Every time I work with the kids, it's a lot of fun.
30:54And usually it's doing a special project with me.
30:56It's not doing the building.
30:57And so to have Fletcher here and actually working and actually doing real work, it's pretty cool to see.
31:03You're leaving us today.
31:04You're moving on.
31:05You're moving up in the world.
31:07How was your first week with the cabin masters?
31:10Pretty great.
31:11I had a great time.
31:12What was your favorite part you took?
31:14Hanging out with me?
31:15What?
31:16He worked really, really hard.
31:17I would say as hard as the rest of the guys.
31:19And he has officially graduated from mini master to a regular master.
31:25All right.
31:26Mist is done.
31:27We'll let this dry.
31:28See if he needs another coat.
31:29But I know.
31:30Good job.
31:31Soft reining.
31:32We got the inside job done.
31:33Now we can stay dry.
31:34All right.
31:35Sick.
31:36Thanks, kid.
31:37I guess the goal of the week was to get the exterior wrapped up.
31:43And yesterday afternoon, we were pretty close.
31:46We still had to finish the siding on both gabled ends and finish the back deck and stairs.
31:51So today, we just split into two teams.
31:54Three teams.
31:55Four teams.
31:56But we were all one big team.
31:57And we busted it out.
31:59Awesome.
32:04Last board.
32:05Chase.
32:06Last board.
32:07Last board.
32:08Hunter.
32:09Last board.
32:10Dixie.
32:11Last board.
32:12I feel like we are definitely learning something by everybody being here and getting things
32:16done.
32:17All right.
32:18Last board.
32:19Justin.
32:20Last board.
32:21Steve.
32:22Last board.
32:23I think that we are busting this out fast.
32:24And it's fun to have everybody around.
32:25Hang on.
32:26We have one more thing we want to do.
32:27And then you can take off for the weekend.
32:29We wanted to honor Fletcher's graduation.
32:31So I made a little diploma and asked all the crew if they would sign it.
32:40I gotta walk slow.
32:41You guys have short legs.
32:42This is a ceremony.
32:44You know, Fletcher in a long line of mini matches coming up.
32:48We had, we sat with Brad and then Schmitty.
32:50And you know, now Fletcher.
32:51And I just thought we had to put a little pomp and circumstance in it.
32:54We didn't do a very good job marching, but people got the idea.
32:57Fletcher, could you please come forward?
32:59Drum roll, please.
33:00What?
33:01Fletcher.
33:02Can you please come forward?
33:03Please step forward.
33:04Fletcher, coming forward.
33:05Can you put on your gown?
33:06Uh-huh.
33:07Yes!
33:08Let me place the cap on you.
33:12When we clap, you can flick your tassels.
33:17Okay.
33:18Chase.
33:19Fletcher, you've been a mini master since day one.
33:22You've been with us from the very beginning.
33:24One.
33:25Two.
33:26Three!
33:27Fletcher Ram.
33:28Let's have a baton ram.
33:30Yeah!
33:32Do I have to listen to his teenager attitude all day?
33:36Yeah.
33:37After this trip, I think we all agree that you have graduated from a mini master to a true cabin master.
33:48We're all very proud of you and you work very hard.
33:52And we'll miss you next week.
33:53We'll miss you next week.
33:55Hopefully, Ashley will build a frame for that diploma and he can put it over his desk someday.
33:59When Brad and Smitty come in for directions for the week.
34:02Hey, let's get a picture.
34:03Good job, Fletcher.
34:04Seeing Fletcher with a nail gun in his hand and seeing his work ethic and then coming up here and seeing him for a week with us.
34:09It's really awesome.
34:10Turn your tassel.
34:11Not too hard.
34:12Don't poke your eye out.
34:14Yay!
34:18I mean, I like working vacations.
34:20Whenever we would come up here, it was always with my father or family.
34:23And this is always what it was.
34:24It was a project that had to be done.
34:26All the family would get together and get it done.
34:29Yay!
34:30Right down the line.
34:31For he's a jolly good fellow.
34:33For he's a jolly good fellow.
34:35For he's a jolly good fellow.
34:37For he's a jolly good fellow.
34:39Get back to work.
34:48Go down this way.
34:49Neal's cabin.
34:50It's about another 100 yards, 200 yards down.
34:52A lot happened this first week.
34:54It was very exciting.
34:55A lot going on.
34:56After the excitement of Fletcher's graduation, I realized it was the perfect time to head back to where it all began and take the team to Camille's Trapper's Cabin.
35:04The site of our first project together.
35:06And hopefully, the time capsule we buried over a decade ago is still there.
35:10First time you came in, this was all snow?
35:11It was all snow.
35:12Yeah.
35:13Crazy to be back here.
35:14And we had one sled break, so we were down three.
35:17Oh, look at it.
35:18Look at it.
35:19Look at the roof.
35:20Look at the roof.
35:21It's so small.
35:22It is tiny.
35:23I remember it being a little bit bigger than that.
35:26I remember it being a lot bigger.
35:27Did you guys have power tools?
35:28You guys did all this?
35:29With hand tools.
35:30With hand tools.
35:31But we ripped off the entire roof.
35:33We had to replace some upper logs.
35:34It had a dormer on the back.
35:36Ready?
35:37Yeah.
35:38Nice!
35:39We didn't really know what we were doing.
35:42No.
35:43We hadn't worked with each other for very long.
35:44No.
35:45Look at us.
35:46I had to fight with Chase to put roof trim on it.
35:48Out of your dicks!
35:50You can throw your back.
35:52Hey, ho!
35:53See what happens when you hug.
35:55Come on, buddy.
35:56Get up.
35:57Get up.
35:58All right, all right.
35:59Oh, we're still doing that sometimes.
36:01Yeah.
36:02Some things will never change.
36:04So it was 11 years ago or 10 years?
36:062015.
36:07All right.
36:08Last piece.
36:09Let's hope it's there for another 100 years.
36:12100 years.
36:15Yeah.
36:16All right.
36:19That's it.
36:20Let's check it out.
36:21Let's go take a peek.
36:22After you guys know the way.
36:24So the cabin was truly a trapper's cabin.
36:26It was built by Camille Bollier.
36:28He lived in it.
36:29He would have trap lines all around the St. John Valley.
36:32And now it is maintained by the Nature Conservancy
36:36for people who are canoeing the St. John stand.
36:39Yeah, let's find that time capsule.
36:43Oh, look at that.
36:44Looks great.
36:45You guys made this door?
36:46We did.
36:47That held up nice.
36:48It's really good.
36:49It did.
36:50Nice door.
36:51Oh, she's small.
36:52How many of you?
36:53Six?
36:54Six of us slept in here.
36:55Two?
36:56Four?
36:57Justin and Wild Bill?
36:58Yeah.
36:59Yeah.
37:00They all, six of them, slept in that tiny little cabin.
37:02I think I'd stay in there one night, and I think I'd probably be done.
37:05Trying to go to bed?
37:06Yeah.
37:07Go up.
37:08All right.
37:11Good night, Grandpa.
37:12So where did you put the time capsule?
37:14It was in the floor.
37:15There was a hatch.
37:16There was a hatch.
37:17There you go.
37:18Sweet.
37:19There it is.
37:20It's in there.
37:21Yep.
37:22So we're on the porch where we can all see it.
37:24I'll pretend I'm Wild Bill.
37:26Oh, oh, oh.
37:27I'll post up right where I was.
37:29That's where Wild Bill was, right?
37:30Yep.
37:31How is he sitting?
37:33I think just like that.
37:35I'm good.
37:36What's in your capsule, boys?
37:37I don't remember.
37:38I don't either.
37:39What do you got?
37:41Pictures.
37:42Feels like photos.
37:43It was really neat to open the time capsule because we had forgot what we put in there.
37:46Very special picture of Bill, which, you know, brought a tear to our eyes.
37:49We lost Bill since then, but it also put a smile on our face.
37:532013 hunting license, Matthew Dix.
37:56Really?
37:57Canterbeck Property Services.
37:59At your needs.
38:02We found Dixie's old hunting licenses, Chase's old business card, newspaper, and some really cool pictures.
38:09Since I wasn't here to add anything, maybe I could leave my dragonfly.
38:12That'd be cool.
38:13Fly away.
38:14The only thing I have in my pocket is a Phillips head screw bed.
38:16I'm going to leave that.
38:17What if we should leave Trigger's collar?
38:20There you go.
38:21We can because I have got the same exact one back at camp.
38:24Do you?
38:25Yeah.
38:26Oh, yeah.
38:27Good boy.
38:28You're leaving your mark, too.
38:29Honestly, we thought, you know, this would be a fun experience.
38:31I don't think any of us saw it going anywhere past this first project.
38:36Zip tie, Dixie.
38:38There you go.
38:39You never know.
38:40You never know.
38:41Chase.
38:42I'm almost done.
38:43It's harder than it looked.
38:44To carve an eminence scene enough.
38:45I've seen guys carve whole scenes out of pencils.
38:48Out of pencils.
38:49Carve on rice.
38:50We just got a look.
38:51Never in a million years would we have thought we'd be where we are today.
38:54Because, you know, it all started with that one cabin.
38:57Not 2026.
38:58Close enough.
38:59We got them riled up.
39:00Yeah, you're fine.
39:01It will be soon enough.
39:02Okay, I'll put this back.
39:04Put that back in.
39:05Let's go.
39:06You know, Fletcher graduating.
39:07The Trapper's cabin.
39:08Opening the time capsule.
39:09I'm just really excited for what's in store for next week.
39:12Let's head back to camp.
39:13Yeah, let's do it.
39:14All right.
39:15Let's do it.
39:16We've got a lot ahead of us.
39:17Bathroom.
39:18Interior.
39:19Bedrooms.
39:20Canoe rack.
39:21Canoe rack.
39:22Solar.
39:23Bunk beds.
39:24Dang.
39:25It's been exciting planning for this trip.
39:26It's been exciting just getting ready.
39:28A lot got accomplished this first week.
39:30But we still have a lot more to do.
39:32You know, I realize in this first week we've done too much.
39:35Oh, hurts me!
39:36We've traveled too far.
39:38Yes!
39:39Got it.
39:40We've had too much fun.
39:42We're all very proud of you and you work very hard.
39:45So this just means two-parter.
39:48Night, Grandpa.
