00:00To the celebrities that are coming on this course, I've got one thing to say.
00:07Prepare for all of your worst nightmares to come true.
00:12I know.
00:14Instagram can't save you now.
00:16Guard.
00:20In this series...
00:22Let's go!
00:2314 British and Australian celebrities...
00:26Get going. Let's get to the wall.
00:28Have enlisted...
00:30Come on, let's move!
00:32To go head to head...
00:34In the most punishing stages of SAS selection.
00:38Get in there!
00:40Of course I think we're going to kick their ass.
00:42Give the good news!
00:44I feel like very patriotic.
00:46I'm going to rip these head off.
00:48We need to beat them.
00:50Led by an elite team of ex-Special Forces soldiers...
00:54I don't want you to get an excuse. I'm done with it.
00:56Are you going to tell me that was wrong?
00:57No.
00:58If you don't want to be here, don't...
00:59Don't put yourself through this.
01:00These celebrities are going to get their ass kicked on this course.
01:03Let them blow!
01:04Let's go!
01:05We're going to hit them hard.
01:07And we're going to keep hitting them...
01:09Until we break them.
01:10Look out!
01:12If you tell me to run into a brick wall, I'll run head first into it.
01:16Me and the military are petrified.
01:18Don't screw it up!
01:24No other test asks as much...
01:26Come on, don't give up!
01:27I'm not giving up to staff!
01:28...or means as much...
01:31I wasn't expecting this to come here.
01:32I apologise.
01:34...to the few...
01:36...who make it through...
01:38I'm not good enough.
01:39You know what?
01:40You can do it.
01:41You've got this.
01:42We are going to hell, literally.
01:54I'm just kidding myself.
01:59Fourteen celebrities are about to embark...
02:03...on a condensed version of SAS selection.
02:08Bombs and Aussies.
02:09Same people, really?
02:10Same people.
02:11What's a bomb?
02:12What?
02:13You guys are bombing.
02:14We're bombing.
02:15Yeah, you're bombing.
02:16For the first time...
02:17...the celebrity recruits are from opposite sides of the world.
02:21Seven Australians...
02:23...and seven Brits.
02:25If it's Australia versus England...
02:27...I reckon we've got a really strong team...
02:29...by the looks of, like, looking around.
02:31The Australian Special Forces have deep roots...
02:34...with the British Special Forces.
02:36We've done operational tours together...
02:38...and we work side by side.
02:39They're big, they're strong...
02:41...and they're mean business.
02:42So these Australian recruits have got a lot to live up to.
02:46The landscape is insane, hey?
02:48It's beautiful.
02:49It looks like Australia.
02:50I am best known for playing toadfish on Neighbours...
02:53...for the last 30 years.
02:55This morning my body was...
02:57...in knots.
02:58Make sure you hit your mental headspace where it should be.
03:01But I feel good now.
03:02Okay.
03:03And because of everything that I've gone through...
03:05...I want to grab this and tear the balls off it.
03:09You know?
03:10Bro, what do you do?
03:11I do comedy content on social media.
03:14Comedy's going to be very valuable.
03:16He's very funny.
03:17Thank you, Graeme.
03:19I think this is probably going to be the toughest week of my life.
03:22My dad, he was actually in the military...
03:24...so he will not be happy if I make excuses or I moan...
03:29...or I don't try 100%.
03:37Alliances are formed on the battlefield.
03:42We're going to put these celebrities through hell...
03:44...to see who stands up and who falls away.
03:54Oh shit.
03:55Fuck.
03:56Look behind.
03:57Oh no, here we go.
04:07You're borrowing shit at us.
04:11All right, all right, all right, all right, all right.
04:15Hands down! Hands down everywhere!
04:17Keep your mums shut!
04:20Open your eyes.
04:21Don't look at me.
04:22When you get attacked by surprise, it is terrifying.
04:27There is nothing more scary than seeing people around you getting shot.
04:32For us, the ambush is to make them realise...
04:35...that they've come out of their world and they have entered ours.
04:39Don't look at me.
04:40We do get treated very well in our lives back home.
04:44What do you want on your rider?
04:45You know, would you like champagne and this and that?
04:48Go!
04:49I have a feeling they're not going to give us that.
04:51Head down!
04:52Head up.
04:53Taking a wicket for your country against Australia is one of the best feelings.
04:56I can't even describe how amazing that makes you feel.
04:59Shut up! Don't talk!
05:00I'm not sure if I'm built physically for the SAS, but mentally I'm keen to find out whether my mind is right.
05:06Head down! Head down! Head down!
05:08Hands together! Move!
05:10Operator behind the enemy lines is petrifying.
05:12Keep hold of the shoulders of the person in front.
05:16Everyone is out to get you or kill you.
05:25Keep very still. Don't move.
05:29Fucking hell.
05:38Pieces like a rhinoceros.
05:46Who are you?
05:48Cole Anderson.
05:49What do you do, Cole?
05:50Just do, like, social media and stuff.
05:52Tiki-tok, wallah.
05:53Yeah.
05:54Yeah.
05:55Have you ever thought about getting a real job?
05:57No.
05:58Well, maybe you should.
06:00Get your hands down, Muppet!
06:02Yikes!
06:04I'm completely out of my comfort zone here.
06:07In fact, you look better that way. Keep it like that.
06:10I just hope that I can stop listening to the voices in my head and just get to the end, because I would be so proud of myself.
06:19Stop blinking at me, weirdo.
06:21My belief in myself is, you know, pretty damn high.
06:24Keep looking that way.
06:25I absolutely want to pass this course. I'm going to pass this course.
06:29Yikes.
06:31Who are you?
06:33Uh, Brad Hodge.
06:34You had to think about it, didn't you, Brad?
06:35What do you do, Brad?
06:36Uh, past professional cricket player and...
06:38A cricket player?
06:39Wow.
06:42Who are you?
06:43Jessica Bauer.
06:44Don't fucking smile at me.
06:45I'm best known for stealing someone's husband on Married at First Sight.
06:51Husband Stealer.
06:53Look up.
06:54But I want to prove to the public that I'm not this, you know, reality bitch.
07:03You're fucking hideous.
07:04Take this smile off your face.
07:05I was part of the 2003 Rugby World Cup team, uh, that won the World Cup, which does seem a different lifetime ago.
07:12Tough guy.
07:14Not really.
07:15Get your head up.
07:16And the Aussies is going to be very interested.
07:18They might want to get their record straight, 22 years of hurt.
07:25Oh dear.
07:27Who are you?
07:28Mack Horton.
07:29What do you do, Mack?
07:30Over the...
07:31Swimmer.
07:32Swimmer.
07:33Swimmer.
07:34You look like you've just got out the pool.
07:35I think I'm most scared of the unknown.
07:37Is that hard work?
07:38It's warm.
07:40I've swum for 17 years.
07:42I've won Olympic gold.
07:43But that's all something that you can train for.
07:46I've never been tested like this.
07:49You will address us at all times, from now on, as staff.
07:54Do you understand that?
07:55Yes, staff.
07:57We have shared blood, sweat and tears for our country.
08:03So pathetic people like you can have your life.
08:06SAS selection is the toughest military test in the world.
08:11It takes the 1% of the best 1% to create a special forces operator.
08:17You, the English, from the beautiful motherland.
08:22And you, the Australians, the colonials from down under.
08:28You're going to get a real sample of our world.
08:31The Aussies call us whinging poms.
08:33And we call them prisoners of Mother England.
08:37Do you understand?
08:38Yes, staff!
08:40We'll now find out we're the greater nation.
08:43Walk forward to the railings.
08:48Holy fuck.
08:52The first task of selection is an emergency evacuation drill
09:01in a life-threatening scenario.
09:04Fuck it.
09:05Pay attention to what's going on,
09:06because obviously you fuckers are going to be doing it in a minute.
09:13Lowered from a height of 260 feet,
09:17the recruits will be harnessed in pairs into the plane's fuselage.
09:21Once fully submerged, they must hold their breath for 30 seconds and remain seated until the time is up.
09:37The recruits must exit through the rear side door in an agreed order to pass the task.
09:44The possibility of drowning is a real risk in the Special Forces.
09:50It's absolutely terrifying.
09:52Every part of their body will want to eject themselves out of that seat and get out of that situation.
09:59It's okay!
10:02Are they okay?
10:04It's paramount that they stay composed and work as a team.
10:08You go in that seat over there.
10:10You go in this seat here.
10:12The first recruits to face the dunk are Olympic swimming champion Mack and TV personality Gabby.
10:20I think people are going to be really surprised when they see me on the selection because they know me as Gabby from Love Island,
10:25who just sits there in a bikini talking about feelings all day.
10:29Keep the composure, keep talking!
10:31I'm going to show them a very different side to me.
10:34It was like this.
10:37If I fail in the water task, I will be disappointed.
10:42My reputation hangs on it.
10:45I might regret saying that.
10:47I'm petrified water.
10:49Just control yourself.
10:50That's no big deal.
10:56Last breath.
11:16Oh.
11:20There's a panic.
11:21She's panicking.
11:33Just stay calm.
11:34In a special forces survival drill, recruits Mack and Gabby must hold their breath underwater for 30 seconds until given the signal to escape.
11:49She's panicking.
11:55Having been unable to hold her breath...
11:57Fucked it.
11:59Go.
12:00Okay, okay.
12:01...Gabby has failed the task.
12:04Fail!
12:06Confirmed fail, she panicked and had to be pulled out for the window.
12:09Yeah, okay, roger that.
12:11I weren't scared about the height, weren't scared about the water, and then I fucking didn't take a big enough breath.
12:16What the fuck?
12:18Probably better to be a little bit thirsty, as opposed to having a full breath.
12:23Yeah.
12:25Holy shit.
12:27The next pair of recruits to take on the task is actor Natalie and social media personality Jack.
12:36Relax!
12:37If you can't swim, you're pretty fucked on this.
12:42I don't think being in the military was ever an option for me.
12:46I am scared of everything.
12:50Flying, confrontation, large crowds, claustrophobia, bugs, insects, spiders.
12:58Remain in the position till you get the squeeze.
13:01Once that fear kicks in, it's too late.
13:07That's good. Stay relaxed.
13:13That's good. Stay relaxed.
13:31Yes!
13:32Now that...
13:34Pass!
13:36Pass!
13:43I'm so happy.
13:44Unbelievable.
13:50Fuck off. Not you.
13:52It's okay.
13:53Breathing in.
13:55Don't panic, you're chill.
13:56I'm not chill.
13:57I've been involved in helicopter crashes.
14:00It is an absolutely horrific experience.
14:06A crashing into water.
14:07If you survive the crash, you're then in an environment that wants to kill you.
14:11It's very difficult not to panic.
14:14Your body's telling you you need to do something because you are going to die.
14:17Your lungs are screaming and then you can feel the emotion almost flood your system.
14:28And yet, panic is the thing that will kill you.
14:44You have to be able to calm down and then think logically about what you've got to do.
14:48You then go through a process of getting yourself out of there.
14:53Emily, okay?
14:54Emily, okay?
14:55Emily, okay?
15:00Good pass!
15:02Confirmed. That's a pass.
15:03Yeah, roger that.
15:05With only two pairs of recruits having passed the task.
15:11My biggest fear is water.
15:13Fucking dial in.
15:15Do what you're meant to do.
15:17Come over to me.
15:19Last to take on the dunk is former Neighbours actor Ryan and TV personality Danny.
15:25You alright?
15:27No, I'm petrified.
15:29Physically, I've got this.
15:30Mentally is what I'll struggle with.
15:31My brain attacks me all the bloody time.
15:34I really want to cry but I don't want to cry.
15:36I just want to believe in myself a little bit more and stop being a negative Nancy.
15:41You're going to breathe out.
15:44Get rid of all that carbon dioxide.
15:46I would describe myself as pretty full on.
15:50Here we go.
15:51I can lose my temper quickly.
15:52Yeah, I can get quite frustrated.
15:54We are strong.
15:55We are calm.
15:56I'm shaking.
15:57The thing that I will struggle the most is if people don't take it serious enough
16:00and go hard enough.
16:01Are you scared?
16:03There's every chance I'll tell them to pull their fucking finger out.
16:05Yeah.
16:07Fucking concentrate and switch on.
16:09Fucking hell.
16:11Remain composed.
16:14Focus on what you're doing.
16:17We are strong and we are calm.
16:19We're going to take a deep breath and we're going to be fine.
16:22We're going to both undo.
16:24I will go first.
16:25I'm going to be scared.
16:26I'm scared.
16:49Did someone just come out already?
16:51I'm sorry.
16:55Both of them failed.
16:57Pathetic.
16:59You should probably panic just like I did.
17:01Catastrophic fail!
17:07That was a dire effort, wasn't it?
17:10Why did you panic?
17:11As soon as the wall hit me I was like, I can't do it.
17:14I expected more from you.
17:16Toadfish.
17:18Looking made for this, isn't you?
17:20Yes, sir?
17:22Embarrassing.
17:26There were only two passes out of all of you there and the rest of them were fails.
17:32Some of them catastrophic.
17:33So let's start switching on, taking on board the information and applying it.
17:39Is that understood?
17:40Yes, sir.
17:42Quick as you can.
17:43Quickly, let's go.
17:44Hurry!
17:49What a shit show.
17:53I don't know how long it will last for this.
17:58That was hard.
17:59In and out.
18:00Instantly I failed.
18:02It was pathetic.
18:13This way.
18:14In and around, between the chains.
18:18The recruits have been brought to a remote desert fort, where temperatures can reach over 40 degrees.
18:25English this side, Aussies that side.
18:27It will be their home for the remainder of the course.
18:30Right now, you will become a number.
18:34Do you understand that?
18:35Yes, sir.
18:37The desert is a brutal environment.
18:39It just makes life almost unbearable.
18:44Strip out of that civilian kit.
18:45Let's go.
18:46Hurry up.
18:48No reason to be shy.
18:50From the minute you get up to the minute you are able to go back to sleep, the heat just hits you.
18:54It drains you of energy.
18:56It feels like you are being suffocated by the country.
18:59Upside down.
19:01Fucking buffoon.
19:03You are susceptible to heat injuries, whether that's dehydration, heat stroke, exposure, whatever.
19:10Let's go!
19:11Let's go quickly!
19:12Don't be laughed!
19:13If you do not conduct yourself in the right way, it will kill you.
19:17They are going to wish they are fucking somewhere else.
19:20Right.
19:21This is your accommodation.
19:22Underneath that camouflage net over there, that is water.
19:25That will be continuously topped up.
19:27The one thing I say about your water bottles, they will always be topped up to the brim.
19:33And I mean the brim.
19:35OK?
19:36Yes, Dav.
19:37Right, fucking cheer up.
19:38If you look like you are having a good time, you will have a good time, even if we are a bunch of fuckers.
19:42Yeah?
19:46This is absolutely nuts, innit?
19:48Yeah.
19:49Gabs, will you do my water bottle when you are ready?
19:51Yeah.
19:52Sorry, I am being fit.
19:56Just make sure you are refilling, eh?
19:57Yeah, yeah.
20:01Hey guys, can I grab everyone's attention?
20:04So, if you look on the bag here, you've got these clips here.
20:09So, if you do them up and you tighten them right down, you'll have less jingle jangle.
20:16Yeah?
20:17Yeah.
20:18Alright, cool.
20:19Have your days.
20:20He's pretty serious, isn't he?
20:24I was going to say that to you.
20:28Anybody stands out?
20:31Yeah, number 12, Ryan Maloney.
20:33He's so keen and wants to make a good impression that he's overdoing it.
20:37Yeah.
20:38Probably number four, because she's just like, you know.
20:41She's a little bit sort of underconfident.
20:44She's not physically imposing.
20:46Like, five's the same size, but five's actually fit.
20:48Whereas four's a little bit fragile.
20:51I think three.
20:52Being a bit of a dope, just not listening properly.
20:54And number one.
20:55Because he's a bit twitchy, innit?
20:56He's like...
20:59I think 12's going to get roasted.
21:01You know, like when you're in the old dorms on selection, there's always some knobber.
21:04Yeah.
21:05Who thinks he knows better, knows it all.
21:06And then, by day two, he goes, right, where did he go?
21:10Telling you what you should have in your burger.
21:11Yeah, that's right.
21:12That's right.
21:13Recruit 12!
21:14Coming!
21:15Oh my God, Ryan.
21:16Fucking knew it.
21:17Double time, 12.
21:18Concerned about his character, the DS want to learn more about number 12, Ryan.
21:33How's it going in there?
21:34It's good, actually.
21:35I'm, uh, going through periods of, you know, fear and kind of going up and down and throwing
21:51myself into it as best as I can and learning the rules first.
21:56Um, the challenge is to get the shit out of me.
22:01So where did you grow up?
22:04Uh, in Melbourne.
22:05Yeah.
22:07What was growing up like?
22:09Uh, yeah, growing up was interesting.
22:11You know, um, a pretty shit aggro childhood, but, you know, it's kind of the way it is.
22:18Um, so we'll just leave it at that.
22:22But, you know, got a gig on Neighbours at 15 years old and I kind of stayed there for 30 years.
22:27That's a fucking long time to be someone else.
22:31Yeah.
22:32How do you think that's shaped you?
22:35Uh, it's a very hectic time when you go to work and you're in this headspace for 12 hours
22:43and then you go home and you try to do family life and then you learn your lines for the next day.
22:49So you're right there.
22:50So you don't really get a break from it.
22:52But for a very, very long time, I've been pushing myself to kind of go,
22:57Oh, so there's Neighbours, but I've got to have something else.
22:59So you sell and buy properties and build farms and build houses.
23:03And, you know, building places is one of the most stressful things you can ever fucking do.
23:07And kind of constantly moving family around and just the ultimate stress,
23:12after stress, after stress, after stress, just hadn't really had a break.
23:17So it's that pedal, pedal, pedal, pedal, and nothing's ever good enough.
23:22Um, so, just kind of found myself.
23:37Oh, sorry.
23:42I wasn't expecting this to come out.
23:45I apologise.
23:46Found myself standing in a paddock going, if this is it, I don't want to do it anymore.
23:55And, uh, and then it was okay.
24:01All right.
24:02Well, that's not the answer.
24:04Um, I need to work out what's going on with my head.
24:09And then I was diagnosed with ADHD.
24:13Was it the, um, the diagnosis that that's helped you?
24:17Once I kind of got that diagnosis, it was like, that's the best fucking news I've ever heard.
24:22Because now I understand why my brain does what it does.
24:28Because now I, now I get why I see things very differently.
24:35So what, what are you hoping to get from this?
24:38You know what, I actually don't know.
24:39I don't know what this is going to bring out.
24:41I don't know.
24:42Like I didn't fucking know that that was going to come out.
24:44So, I just, I just want to find out.
24:47Well, you look strong.
24:48I'm excited to see how far you'll go on the course.
24:50It's going to be difficult though.
24:54Stick with it.
24:56I'll do that.
24:58Guard!
25:07No one's unbreakable.
25:08I've broken many times.
25:10You gotta break to, to get stronger.
25:15Before I got diagnosed with ADHD, there was a lot of pressure and stress on life.
25:21Just that constant feeling of, of being lost.
25:24I can see you're in the zone.
25:26Ah, no, I was just like, wasn't expecting that to come out.
25:29Ooh!
25:31It's incredibly important to be able to understand what's actually going on in your brain.
25:36When you feel like you want to quit on life, don't.
25:39Just find an answer.
25:41If that's not the one, find another one.
25:43Um, and don't quit.
25:46Nah, we're good.
25:48We're good.
25:49You sure?
25:50Yeah.
25:52You want to sit over there and just chill, be quiet?
25:53We're good.
25:54I'm here, mate, if you need it.
25:55Oh, my God.
25:56What is that?
25:57Oh, are you okay?
25:58Is it dangerous?
25:59Yeah, it bites.
26:00Yeah, home run.
26:01Bang!
26:02Oh, I think you got it.
26:03Nice.
26:04I did get it.
26:05I did get it.
26:06It's fucking over us.
26:07You got it.
26:08Recruits!
26:09Five minutes!
26:10Full kit!
26:11Come on, hurry up.
26:12Has anyone got a full water bottle?
26:14Quickly.
26:15Going in here, guys.
26:16Quickly.
26:17What do you like being called?
26:18Ryan.
26:19Ryan.
26:20Good.
26:21Yeah.
26:22I didn't want to start saying fucking toady because I'm so used to seeing you on the telly.
26:24That's all right, man.
26:25You still don't like being back at school, innit?
26:27Yeah.
26:28Yeah.
26:29I didn't want to start saying fucking toady because I'm so used to seeing you on the telly.
26:32That's all right, man.
26:33You still don't like being back at school, innit?
26:36It is, yeah.
26:37Like a teacher's chat, innit?
26:38Yeah.
26:39I quite like you, though.
26:40It's fun.
26:41I'd say there's definitely mistakes I've made throughout my life and because of this.
26:47I've kind of been living way too much in my comfort zone.
26:52Those bags are heavy, don't they?
26:54They are so heavy.
26:55I'm hoping that I can overcome those fears.
26:59I need a big challenge.
27:01If I managed to get through this, I think it would help a lot.
27:05Close the guards!
27:10The next task will subject the recruits to one of selection's most brutal rituals.
27:16Everything you do in the Special Forces world is preparing you for combat.
27:22Fall in right there facing me.
27:24It's absolutely horrendous physically and mentally.
27:29some will crumble, some will shine.
27:34Turn around.
27:39It's pretty well fucking known there's always rivalry between the English and the Australians.
27:45In the Special Forces world, we have to work together closely.
27:50Now and again there's resentment that is soon put to bed.
27:54And we have a method of doing that.
27:57It's called milling.
27:59We fight and we use sheer violence and aggression.
28:03You're not just fighting for you.
28:06You're fighting for your nation.
28:08Right, listen in.
28:11Number 12.
28:12Toward fish.
28:15Get over there.
28:16I take my compass out.
28:18First to fight is recruit number 12, Ryan.
28:22Number one.
28:23One on me.
28:24His opponent is number one.
28:27Social media personality, Cole.
28:30I stay fit by going to the gym maybe four or five days a week.
28:35Yeah, I think I can protect myself in a fight.
28:38Go on, in the middle.
28:39I can be pretty aggressive.
28:40If that's the game, then that's what we're doing.
28:42What are you going to do?
28:44I'm going to rip his head off.
28:45Not a fucking chance.
28:46And if the rules are you've got to smash him, well then giddy up.
28:51It was simple.
28:53I will say fight and you will fight.
28:56And if I say stop, you will stop.
28:59Fight!
29:00Let's go, one.
29:01Big right hand, one.
29:02Yes, Cole.
29:03Keep touching.
29:04Yes, Cole.
29:05Go on, Cole.
29:06Get your space.
29:07Get your space, one.
29:09Go, Ryza.
29:13That's it, one.
29:14That's it, one.
29:19Big right hand, one.
29:20Give him the good news.
29:28Oh, I'm tripped.
29:29Oh, my knee.
29:30My knee popped out.
29:31Oh, shit.
29:33What's he done?
29:34His fucking knee popped out.
29:35No, it ain't.
29:36All right, let's get up.
29:37Oh, shit.
29:38Can you get up?
29:39Yeah.
29:40All right, let's get up then.
29:41Let's go for the win there.
29:42Sure.
29:43There you go.
29:44There's nothing.
29:45He told me a new one.
29:47Well done, Ryza.
29:48Great work.
29:51Number 13.
29:52Fuck.
29:53Next up, number 13, Natalie.
29:56Holy shitballs.
29:57I think fighting is for morons, really.
30:01I don't understand it.
30:03Number five.
30:04Five, over here.
30:05Let's go fight.
30:06She's up against number five.
30:08TV personality and fitness expert, Gabby.
30:13I'm the strongest I've ever been now.
30:15I'm ready.
30:16She's ready.
30:17Are you fucking ready?
30:18Yeah.
30:19You sure about that?
30:20Yeah.
30:21I hope very easily.
30:22I am a Joe of Salpone.
30:23Fight.
30:24Go on.
30:25Straight up the center.
30:26Come on.
30:27Keep banging to the head.
30:28Keep going.
30:29Keep punching.
30:30Punch.
30:31Come on.
30:32Hands up.
30:33Go on Gabby.
30:34That's it.
30:35Fire.
30:36Keep going.
30:37Going up.
30:38Yeah.
30:39Going up.
30:40Yeah.
30:41Going up.
30:42Keep banging to the head.
30:46That's it.
30:47Big right hand.
30:48Stop.
30:49Yeah.
30:50Five for the win.
30:51I feel sick.
30:52With me.
30:53Let's go.
30:54Let's go 13.
30:55I feel so bad.
31:04I feel so bad.
31:15You've been busy.
31:16You're so sick.
31:17I feel so bad.
31:18with it. It's brutal, but it's necessary. If you don't kill the enemy, then you are going
31:27to die. If you think you're going to be sick, just go down. So what are you going to do
31:33to him? I'm going to batter him stuff. What do you think about that? I'm going to give
31:36it back to him stuff. Want to call the names? Yeah? Yeah. What are you going to do to him?
31:40Smash him. What's that? I'm going to knock you the fuck out. I'm going to fucking get
31:45it. When you are stood facing the opponent, the enemy, step back. The only thing going
31:51through your mind is to win. That's it, six. Make my hand, drop it. Every ounce of energy
31:57has got to go into the fight. Fear is natural, but if you lose control of it, you'll get hurt.
32:07It's the ultimate gladiator moment. It's about who can go.
32:15That little bit further to win. Let's go, sevens. Fucking Axel, let it rip.
32:22Stop!
32:28Look at how I'm really bleeding. Number three. Three on me.
32:33With the points split evenly between the nations, the last to fight for the British.
32:37You got your gum shield? I'm filled in, yeah.
32:39Okay, good to go. Is recruit number three, Jack.
32:42Me and my dad have been training, and, uh, when I stop for a breather, he just says,
32:48you know, stop being lazy, fucking get on with it.
32:51All right, stand by.
32:52So, as long as I try 100%, he'll be happy.
32:56You know what you need to do.
32:57Mm-hmm.
32:57But if the DS puts me up against a woman, oh, yeah, I don't think I could do that.
33:04That's going to be, that's mentally tricky.
33:06For 10.
33:07His opponent is number 10, Australian Olympic swimming champion, Emily.
33:13Comfortable?
33:13Mm-hmm.
33:14I think being an athlete is winning, and you want to win every single time you get in the pool.
33:20If you didn't want to win, you wouldn't want to be there.
33:22It's not boxing. Don't let them get the punches off first.
33:25I grew up with three brothers. I think I can give as good as I can take.
33:29What are you going to do to him?
33:30Hit him hard.
33:31Two words of command. Fight and stop. Got it?
33:38Yes, stop.
33:39Want to stand? Gloves up. Step back.
33:45Fight!
33:46Let's go, three!
33:53Stop!
33:54Go on. Go on.
33:55Oh, come on.
33:58Get up.
33:59Get up.
34:02Look at me. You okay?
34:07Gloves up.
34:10Stop!
34:11Stop!
34:13What did I say?
34:15I thought you said start, sir.
34:16What did I say?
34:17Stop.
34:18There's only two commands.
34:21Did anybody hear me say start?
34:22No, sir.
34:25Right, because of that, it's a draw.
34:27I got over there.
34:29I can't watch.
34:30That was horrible.
34:31You had to do it.
34:44Tick.
34:4550 before 50.
34:46Get beaten the shit out of.
34:48Awesome.
34:48Obviously, like, I just wanted to take it.
34:50Don't worry. You were fucking punched like a beast.
34:55You all right, Jack?
34:56You're upset, aren't you?
34:56Yeah.
34:57You're sorry.
34:58Sorry, how about you?
35:00It's hard for that.
35:00No, I know.
35:01I know.
35:02I didn't try and go to, like, my heart.
35:04No, I don't think you did.
35:05But when I went like that, I was like, oh, fuck now.
35:09I didn't really, because I've got a limp here.
35:12Yeah, yeah, yeah.
35:13Imagine you went and then she was off the coast, then I'd get it.
35:15But she's fine.
35:16Yeah.
35:21Has everyone got full water bottles and shit?
35:24Hey, can I also suggest, because it's a fucker to fill these up all the time,
35:28that we just keep them filled up.
35:30And if we're thirsty in here, we just use our mugs.
35:33So much easier.
35:42Okay, so day one, milling.
35:46The Aussies versus the English.
35:48Chief Instructor Billy and his DS have gathered to assess their new recruits.
35:55Number one and number 12.
35:57One and 12, yeah.
35:59One was Mr. Freaking Sugar Ray Leonard.
36:01I mean, he was all about it, you know, before the punches started.
36:04When 12 started banging his gloves together, fucking what was like,
36:07what's going on there?
36:09Cuckoo.
36:11Anyway, the next bout was number five.
36:14Thirteen.
36:15And number thirteen.
36:16That turned into a bit of a disaster.
36:18Number thirteen, she took two or three punches in the stomach
36:21and then went into fucking Funderbird's puppet with a strings cut.
36:25And that was a win for number five.
36:27The final fight was number three.
36:29And ten.
36:30Number ten.
36:31Man v.
36:32Woman.
36:32He was obviously better, but then the way he conducted himself at the end,
36:37I wasn't willing to give him a win.
36:40No, and that was a good call, mate.
36:41Good call, mate.
36:43And if you can't control yourself and fucking see Red Mist,
36:46which is what he did, he's a liability.
36:48Anyway, I think it might be worth having a look at number three.
36:54Yeah, I agree.
36:58Number three!
37:00Oh, they're going to shout at me for not being ready.
37:02You're thirty seconds!
37:05I'll come with you.
37:05Come on.
37:05Go, go, go.
37:06No, I'll go.
37:07I'll go.
37:07I'll go.
37:08Go on.
37:11That was a good deal.
37:12Yeah.
37:14Make sure you're appropriately fucking dressed, number three.
37:17Come here.
37:17Having shown a lack of discipline in the previous task,
37:22the DS want to find out more about number three, Jack.
37:34Adopt a normal breathing pattern.
37:36You fucking sound out of breath.
37:38Yes, sir.
37:42Are you nervous?
37:43Yes, sir.
37:45How's it going in there?
37:46It's been really hard.
37:49I'm really not a fan of heights,
37:50and the milling just absolutely sent my head into a spiral.
37:54Why?
37:56I said before I came on here,
37:57if I had to fight a girl,
38:00that might be one thing that makes me quit.
38:04You did the complete opposite.
38:06I know I did.
38:07And I felt guilty, I felt stupid,
38:10because I obviously didn't pay attention to the instructions.
38:13And I think that's one thing I've noticed,
38:15is that I'm not great at listening, it seems.
38:19With a million, we put you in that situation.
38:22You had to deal with it.
38:23Yes, sir.
38:24So just take us right back to the start.
38:26How was your upbringing?
38:27Um, parents were super supportive of everything I did.
38:32So I'd say, yeah, my childhood was fairly privileged in that sense.
38:37What was school like?
38:39Um, I did fairly well in school.
38:42A bit of a goody two-shoes, to be honest.
38:45But after college, it wasn't quite the same.
38:47Um...
38:48Why not?
38:49Uh, my dad, he's ex-military.
38:52So as you can imagine, he's very much,
38:54play it by the rules, don't try the fast way forward,
38:58slow and consistent.
39:00But I was young, naive, and I didn't pay attention.
39:03I was very fit, you know, super lean, fairly muscly.
39:08Um, people in my family are bodybuilders, natural bodybuilders.
39:11My dad's super into it.
39:13And, uh, I went to a bodybuilding gym.
39:17And, uh, I hear a lot of talk of this supplement,
39:20which is like a legal steroid.
39:23Um, so I bought this supplement from a website.
39:28And, yeah, after six weeks, uh, I had liver failure.
39:34Out of fucking liver failure.
39:37Out.
39:37I went all yellow.
39:39Uh, pupils all yellow.
39:41My brain completely just went south.
39:46Um, it's a hard thing to describe.
39:49Um, I had to go into hospital every day
39:51for about nine, ten months to give blood every day.
39:55And I had to be under supervision.
39:59So the way you pass away with liver failure is,
40:03I was told that you just go to bed at night
40:05and you don't wake up.
40:07And, uh, uh, it was hard because every night,
40:12every single hour, my parents came in my room
40:15to check if I was dead, basically.
40:18And it broke, that broke my heart.
40:20Do you find yourself beating yourself up about this?
40:29Yeah.
40:30You can see that.
40:33It's hard to see your parents with that kind of emotional weight
40:37when you know you've caused it, no way.
40:41Does it still have an impact?
40:43Yeah.
40:44I mean, since then, I'm quite an anxious person.
40:47Uh, and that's kind of why I came on this course.
40:51I hide my emotions a lot.
40:53Even my parents, my friends, they don't really see it.
40:58How does your father feel about you, his son?
41:00Yeah.
41:01You obviously nearly killed himself
41:03coming onto an extremely challenging course.
41:07It'll probably piss him off if I quit.
41:09But that is one thing that's kind of keeping me here, to be honest.
41:13So this is kind of like a personal thing for me.
41:17What matters is what's in your heart, what's in your head.
41:20Yes, sir.
41:21Guard!
41:29Hold up.
41:32Walk.
41:33In a really, really strange way, I'm glad it happened to me.
41:39Before that, I was under the impression I was invincible
41:41and nothing could hurt me.
41:43I could do anything and it'll go right.
41:45But when you're hit with, you might die at 19,
41:49you realise that anything could happen.
41:52That's done.
41:54Right.
41:55You got a lot to give.
41:56You're right, a lot to learn.
41:57It's fucking tough.
41:58Stick with it.
41:59Go get him.
41:59Thank you, sir.
42:00You've really got to respect and appreciate this life you're given
42:04and not take it for granted
42:05because it could be taken at any moment.
42:13I've got a fucked up story.
42:15Yeah.
42:16It'll blow your mind, okay?
42:21Once I was having sex and I shat on the guy's nuts by accident.
42:28I shat on his nuts.
42:29He shat on his nuts.
42:31It's like, super.
42:33It stinks in here.
42:38What can you do?
42:41Get to the shower now.
42:44Does anybody know what the time is?
42:46It is 9.08.
42:48Can I suggest you take this time to fill up your water bottles,
42:51make sure your bags are all packed
42:52and that there's less stress for you
42:55if they call us?
43:04Guys, the DS is coming.
43:06Get up, pray!
43:07With the day almost over...
43:12Fuck me.
43:13...the DS call a shock inspection.
43:16Quickly.
43:16Quickly, fast as you can.
43:19Fuck.
43:20Quickly!
43:22Let's go.
43:22Get that top on now.
43:23Get your top on.
43:25Run.
43:26Tuck in your shirt, three.
43:27Right, everyone, take your water bottles out,
43:32undo the lids,
43:33hold them out in front of you.
43:40Put it away.
43:44Just pull it away.
43:46Over your head.
43:48Tip it over your head.
43:49Fuckin' hell.
43:50Day one.
43:52Tip it over your head.
43:52Being in the Special Forces
44:03is all about doing the basics
44:05to a very high standard.
44:07When we say to the brim,
44:09we mean to the brim
44:10because that fucking millimetre counts.
44:13Is that clear?
44:14Yes, sir.
44:14We're living in the desert.
44:15It's fucking hot.
44:18It's about having the self-discipline
44:19to adhere to the minutest of details.
44:23Let's go.
44:2320 burpees.
44:25Pays to be a winner.
44:26Let's go.
44:27As soon as you're done,
44:27stray over to the water tank.
44:29It proves that you are someone
44:32that doesn't cut corners.
44:34Fast as I can.
44:37Because on the battlefield,
44:38you'll get killed.
44:40We can't afford those sort of people
44:41to be in our units.
44:44In and out on your numbers.
44:48Done it.
44:50Let's go, 12.
44:52Let's go, Niner.
44:53Hooray!
44:58Make sure you take your water bottles.
45:00Make sure they're full up.
45:01Make sure you're prepared to go again.
45:03Go!
45:04Let's go!
45:05Go!
45:05Let's go!
45:14Everyone fill up their water bottles.
45:15Oh, God!
45:23Did you have to pour it on yourself?
45:25Yeah.
45:29Fill up your fucking water bottles first.
45:32Use your cups to drink in here
