Robert Lester Lord, known as Bobby Lord, was born on January 6, 1934, in Sanford, Florida, and was an American country music singer-songwriter. He grew up in Tampa and began his career as a teenager by entering talent contests. In 1952, he won a nationwide talent competition sponsored by TV Guide, which led to an appearance on Paul Whiteman's TV Teen Club on ABC-TV. This helped him secure a recording contract with Columbia Records in 1953 at the age of 19. He released several country and rockabilly hits for Columbia. In 1960, he moved to Nashville and began appearing on the Grand Ole Opry. Later, he recorded for Hickory Records starting in 1961 and Decca Records from 1967. He released the album The Bobby Lord Show in 1965, and the single "Hello Wine" in 1973. In the 1980s, he hosted Country Sportsman on TNN until 1989. He died on February 16, 2008, in Stuart, Florida.
