Krisztina Laki, born on September 16, 1954, in Érd, Hungary, is a German operatic soprano and vocal teacher with Hungarian roots. She studied voice at the Liszt Ferenc Academy in Budapest under József Réti and debuted in 1971 as Gilda in Rigoletto in Bern, later performing roles such as the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute and Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier. Her career included ensemble positions at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Teatro La Scala, and guest contracts with Hamburgische, Münchner, and Köln Staatsoper. She also recorded numerous lesser-known works, including compositions by Gottfried von Einem, Paul Esterházy, Niccolò Jommelli, Josef Mysliveček, Giovanni Paisiello, and Antonio Salieri, as well as roles from Singspiele by E. T. A. Hoffmann and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, and the role of Zemina in Wagner’s early opera Die Feen. She retired from performing in 2001 and continues to teach masterclasses worldwide.
