Stephanie Blythe

Stephanie Blythe, born in 1970, is an American mezzo-soprano who studied vocal performance at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam. Blythe's professional opera debut came in 1995 at the Metropolitan Opera as the Voice from Above in Wagner's Parsifal. Her career gained significant momentum when she replaced Marilyn Horne as Mistress Quickly in Falstaff, receiving critical acclaim. She has performed various roles at the Met, including Amneris in Aida, Azucena in Il trovatore, and Fricka in Die Walküre. In 2014, Blythe starred as Gertrude Stein in the world premiere of Twenty-Seven at the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis.
