Aaron Rosand, born Aaron Rosen on March 15, 1927 in Hammond, Indiana, was an American violinist. He began playing the violin at age three and received a scholarship to study under P. Marinus Paulsen at the Sherwood Music School in Chicago. At nine, he performed a recital at the Civic Opera House in Chicago, followed by his orchestral debut at ten with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra playing Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto. Rosand studied under Leon Sametini and Efrem Zimbalist before serving with the Army Special Services from 1945 to 1947. He debuted in New York’s Town Hall in 1948. Throughout his life, Rosand performed with orchestras worldwide including the orchestras of New York and London, releasing more than 30 albums of violin concertos, compositions and chamber music. Aaron Rosand passed away on July 9, 2019, in White Plains, New York.
