Malcolm Yelvington

Malcolm Yelvington, born on September 14, 1918, in Coverton, Tennessee, was an American rockabilly and country musician. He began playing guitar at age 14 and performed regularly with his band. In 1950, Yelvington moved to Memphis and formed a band that secured a radio show. Through Joe Mashburn, he met Sam Phillips of Sun Records in 1953, leading to the release of "Drinkin' Wine Spo-Dee-O-Dee" and "Just Rolling Along" in 1955. Yelvington returned to performing in the mid-1980s during the rockabilly revival, touring extensively and releasing his album There's a Little Left in This Old Boy Yet in 1997. He passed away on February 21, 2001, in Memphis.
