Damageplan was an American heavy metal band from Dallas, Texas, active between 2003 and 2004. The band was formed by brothers Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul Abbott following the dissolution of Pantera. The duo recruited singer Patrick Lachman and bassist Bob Zilla, while Shawn Matthews also briefly played bass. The band's debut single, "Save Me", debuted on American radio on January 26, 2004. It was followed by the release of its only studio album, New Found Power, on February 10, 2004, which debuted at number 38 on the Billboard 200. Other singles from the album include "Breathing New Life", "Explode", and "Pride". On December 8, 2004, while the band was performing at the Alrosa Villa nightclub in Columbus, Ohio, a deranged fan shot and killed Darrell and three others before being fatally shot by a police officer. Damageplan became inactive after this event. Vinnie Paul Abbott died on June 22, 2018.
