La Capella Reial de Catalunya is a vocal and instrumental ensemble founded in 1987 by Jordi Savall and Montserrat Figueras. The group focuses on Renaissance and Baroque music with historical criteria, specifically Spanish Golden Age compositions. Their repertoire includes works ranging from the Cantigas de Santa María of Alfonso X el Sabio to the Réquiem by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Notable recordings include Bartomeu Càrceres, Anonymes siglo XVI: Villancicos & Ensaladas (1990) and Carlos V. Mille Regretz: La Canción del Emperador (2000). The ensemble collaborated with Le Concert des Nations and Hespèrion XX / XXI and participated in the soundtrack of the film Jeanne la Pucelle. Since 1990, the Generalitat de Catalunya has supported the group.
