Michel Piguet, a Swiss oboist, pedagogue, and recorder player, was born on April 30, 1932, in Geneva. He studied at the Conservatoire de Genève and later at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique de Paris under Roland Lamorlette and Olivier Messiaen. In 1956, Piguet joined the Orchestre de la Tonhalle in Zurich, becoming the principal oboist by 1961. He co-founded the ensemble Ricercare de Zurich with Christopher Schmidt, focusing on early music interpretation. Piguet left the orchestra in 1964 to teach Baroque oboe at the Schola Cantorum in Basel and recorder at the Conservatoire de Zurich. Michel Piguet passed away on November 14, 2004, in Geneva.
