Britt Kersten is a German singer born on 18 February 1939 in Eberswalde. She was a popular schlager musician in the German Democratic Republic and began her recording career with a series of successful singles. Her career was interrupted for one year following a severe car accident in 1964. Kersten subsequently released singles on the label Amiga that were also published in West Germany. She collaborated with the Polish singer Bert Hendrix on several recordings including "Blond wird groß geschrieben" (1967) and "Es ist immer dasselbe Spiel" (1968). Most of her material was composed by her husband, the composer Gerhard Siebholz. To celebrate her 70th birthday, the compilation recording Immer wenn du lachst – Ihre großen Erfolge was released in 2009. Kersten retired in Berlin.
